Let me tell you Tres Amigos is not Amigos!!! Now I know why they are never busy!! My daughter and I went out to eat tonight- quesadilla (we split) both get a drink, side a rice with cheese on top. Typical order for us at Amigos around $28 Tres Amigos $48 - when I ordered the waitress never said there is an additional charge for the cheese on rice but instead I was charged over $15 for their cheese!! Service was terrible, when I asked her about it and why it was not clearly stated or anything mentioned, about extra charges when ordering. She said we are not Amigos go there then. Stayed in Fort Dodge for a work function for five days and I wish I would've eaten here each day. Had the chile relleno burrito and my buddy had the fajitas. The restaurant was clean and the staff was definitely friendly and seem to be very attentive. Prices are reasonable and the food portions are good size! Horrible experience!! They gave us the menu. Once we decided what we wanted to order she said sorry. We are short help and just doing pizza and appetisers. Had to give a 5 star rating to the best Mexican restaurant in Northern Iowa!! I'm really picky about my Mexican food - but these guys really know what they are doing. My favorite Mexican food is carne asada -- and I can honestly say that I have never had better carne asada than I have had here. I don't like anything too saucy/cheesy, but if you're into that they have plenty of options for you. The salsa is so good I could drink buckets of it, and the waiters are pretty on top of their game so they will keep your salsa bowl full. If you're a Margarita fan (who isn't!?!) you can get a margarita here the size of your Cabeza -- and the bartender is pretty generous with the tequila if you get my drift ;) If you're in the area and hungry for some delicious you have to stop here! All on score of 5 to 1 - with 5 being high: Decor - 2: .. Not sure if this was previously a garage or something that was converted? Throw some Mexican-looking things on the wall and on the small walls and you have yourself some decor. Food - 4: was pleasantly surprised! My favorite part of the visit and was really liking the food. Plated well, tasted great and had a very diverse menu. Everyone in a party liked it - so that's a pretty good testimonial right there Service - 5: food came out about as fast as we ordered it and they did a good job getting the order right for a large party of +15. Price - 4: seemed pretty reasonable for the amount of food. Overall- I would recommend the place for a good low-key Mexican night for a very casual night. read more

I understand we are going thru COVID but the prices are getting ridiculous! The queso was 4.95 for dipping chips in. The triple fajita use to be $13 and now $15. Every time we asked for chips and salsa it came with 6 chips in the basket and 1/2 of salsa. I would have filled it up so the waiter didn't have to keep coming back to our table. The beans were not good. It's like they just put beans on your plate from a can. No cheese sauce on the beans. You don't even know what you are ordering or what is in the dish as some stuff is not listed because it is paper menus. You can't read the menu as every item is in small print. I know a precaution with COVID. I can go other restaurants and get a regular menu. It's not hard to sanitize menus. This use to be my favorite place to go. I think I will go to Hacienda or Lomitas from now on. read more

LOVED coming here, it was refreshing to taste real mexican food after having taco bell and taco tico thrown in my face upon moving here from AZ. The restaurant and the people are amazing. Our server was so kind and hilarious! I felt right at home. Not to mention how clean and beautiful the tables were, hand-painted works of art!! Don't waste your time or money at taco tico or Lomita's this is the spot to be at. I recommend the 3 tacos pescados I normally hate tilapia, but their fish was so fresh it didn't even smell. Margarita lacked flavor. I'll give them props for real strawberries, but a little flavor would have helped it. It was almost bitter. Not very good at all. Food was bland. First time visit. Ordered the tostada salad and it was very good. A little light on the carne asada. And for nearly $10.00 I side of beans would have been good. I would estimate the cost of that meal was less than a dollar so their profit margin was huge! Very nice staff and attentive to our needs. Cleanliness was good but the interior decor was an eye sore and the place could definitely use an update. Especially the green paint. Guacamole was fresh and delicious. I loved the salsa. My husband and I came here for a late lunch today. The food was amazing. The salsa was the best I've had in a long time - it tasted so fresh. I had the combo meal and my husband had a shrimp dish and both were incredible. They have jacked their prices waaaaay up. I'm assuming because of covid but honestly they are so unreasonable. $8.95 for a kids meal! That doesn't include a drink. You'll have to pay an additional $2.80 for that and will only get 1 refill. I feel like that is asking a lot for such a small portion of food. If you want to add shredded cheese to anything they are charging you $3 I've ate here many times prior to covid. Last night was our 1st time back in close to a year. I went with my husband and our 2 kiddos. He got a bottled Corona , each of the kids got a kids drink and I got a soda. After looking at that menu and realizing what a joke they were we decided to go else where. The server was a stuck up b***h the whole time which made it an easy choice. $19.50 is what our bill was....for our drinks. Like W.T.F. Did she charge us for the chips and salsa she put on the table that we didn't eat??? Or were our drinks 5 bucks each? Ignore the three star below. I had a margarita on the rocks, fiancé had their special margarita - both good. I have tried their tacos con carne asada, and the flauntas, my fiance had tried their choripollo and their house burrito. So far we've loved every bite. Service is excellent and they recognized us from last time. I appreciate their friendliness and suggestions. When you first drive up to this place, don't let it discourage you from the excellent meal you will get. Anyone who has been anywhere other than a resort in Mexico would know this is identical to most Mexican restaurants in the ambiance. Food was excellent, and service was awesome. Food was good but I will not be returning. I had three beers was charges for four when i brought this up the waitress said I had four without even thinking. I was with a large group with kids so it was a little hectic but I know i had three and so er people at the table told me they knew I only had three. In town from Arizona, I visited this restaurant for the cheese sauce specifically. It was mid afternoon, so I wasn't in need of a full lunch or dinner meal. We were one of 3 tables and throughout the time both our drinks and chips were not refilled once! When brought the bill, it is was put on our table rather rudely. I put a debit card out to pay and was told I'd have to purchase more as they don't run cards less than $10. I asked where it states this and the waiter didn't know, but did know that it costs the restaurant $0.50 more to run a card less than $10. I've been to this restaurant more times than I can count, ordering the same thing and not ONCE have I been told such. If this truly is the case then please specify this to customers!! Had to repeatedly ask for refills, went through 3 basket of chips waiting on 2 dishes that took nearly 45 minutes to deliver that were ordered right off the menu, waiters unfriendly.
