I started eating beef's as a teenager, I'm 55, this is the best of them all, I know many love Bella's and the modern butcher, both are very good, but Londis is my personal favorite. Chicago has some great food, but true story I ordered a chicken parmigiana sub there once and it was chicken thigh meat tossed on a grill then covered with what I assume was Prego and a Kraft single. This locally owned eatery offers "North Shore" roast beef sandwiches, pizza, pizza calzones, pasta, salads, sandwiches, wraps, subs, rice bowls, salads, chicken (wings, fingers, kabobs), steak tips, fried appetizers and cold cooler drinks. The place is order at the counter with an open kitchen and plenty of table seating, flatscreen TV on the right wall. I stopped in here on opening day. For takeout, I ordered the Super Beef ($10.50 plus tax) and Greek Fries ($6.80 plus tax). My food order was all set to go in about 10 minutes. The Super Beef was a heavy sandwich loaded with thin sliced medium rare roast beef smothered with a sweet bbq sauce and mayo (I did not get it 3 way with the cheese on this visit, but next time when I'm really hungry) on a soft onion roll. I've been craving a great North Shore roast beef sandwich and found the place! The Greek Fries as highly recommended by the staff was also a great choice. The Greek Fries were a good portion of lightly fried crisp potato curl slices topped with feta cheese and a tangy Greek dressing, very hot. It is beyond comprehension that this place stays in business. Ordered a super beef (with salt and pepper as two of the condiments bc I know oftentimes roast beef's are not as flavorful as I like) and what I received was a mound of mushy pink slime that was trying to be passed off as meat. After one bite I knew I wasn't going to eat the sandwich but I had to take another juuuust to be sure. Still disgusting. And completely tasteless. Then I dissected the sandwich bc I was still in shock that this passes as meat or roast beef. Not a single definable piece of meat was on the lump of pink goop in between the roll. The bbq sauce looks like it was piled on to hide the fact that they're not serving their customers meat. Don't bother. $12.50 was wasted but at least I can warn others to steer clear. As somebody who didn't believe roast beef could be good, I will vouch for this place until I die. This is the only place I will eat roast beef. The sandwich was gigantic and so juicy. I suggest getting the sauce on the side to dip - the sauce in the sandwich just isn't a good sauce to meat ratio for me. We got in just before noon and thank god because it got really busy as soon as 12 came around. Service was quick since we beat the rush. Lots is seating and there's also a bathroom to wash your hands and face after devouring the sandwich. The only thing I'd change is that I'd make the entire sandwich hot.
