Really great hand pasties. Fresh, HUGE portions, extremely well seasoned and filled, flaky crusts... Need I say more? 10/10! There's nothing really like this around Republic, and I try to find something like I'm used to in the city when I visit my parents, and I ALWAYS check the London Calling schedule when I'm home. I'd say it's a mid-priced meal, but honestly, for what you get it's actually so affordable. I always have leftovers. The sausage roll is a great option for a cheap lunch, but I liked the traditional. Okay, London Calling does everything right! They start off with the polite people who take your order and end it with amazing food. I had never had an authentic Pasty before London Calling so I was apprehensive but wow was I pleasantly surprised. The original is the way to go and definitely get the Guiness gravy. The London Calling Food Truck came to Waynesville, Missouri yesterday and I wanted to give it a shot because I love Fish and Chips. I ordered the Fish & Chips meal with a British Lemonade. We did have to wait about 20 minutes to get freshly cooked fish and fries but it was worth the wait. I did eat my meal British style, I put the malt vinegar on the fish with some lemon juice. They also provided me with their own version of tartar sauce. They use Mayo, dill pickle cubes, pickle juice and Dill. It is a bit runny but very tasty. Overall it was a great meal. The Fentimans Victorian Lemonade was a refreshing twist. And paired well with the meal. If you are in Springfield Missouri you should stop by their restaurant and give them a try. It's over an hour for us to get there so I'll continue to hit up this Food Truck when I can. read more

We have been searching for this place but couldn't find the London bus anywhere, apparently this place has been relocated into the food court inside the mall. I really appreciate how thoughtful they tried to make their store front look and feel like London. No buses of course but at least they have a phone booth deck, and with beautiful color scheme and design style. They offer a variety of pies and delicious fish and chips along with a few drinks and beer to go along with it. We ordered the original and a Chicken Tikka Masala Pasty both are very good, the crust are well made and the fillings are well seasoned, in generous portion and piping hot! Probably the best English style pie pastry in town. You could put the pastry in the fridge and reheat it back up with an oven or nuwave the next day and it would taste just as good! The Chicken Tikka Masala Pasty is so special, it really tastes like an Indian dish. The fish and chips are pretty good as well, fresh fish fried right, hot and crunchy on the outside while tender on the inside. However they don't have much seasoning to it, otherwise it would have been awesome. The fries are very good and not the store bought kind, would recommend it! So we were shopping before meeting my mom and brother for dinner and I wanted to grab a snack. I saw this place and decided to try it since I was specifically craving fish. I ordered one piece of fish and a cup of tartar sauce. I was not super impressed with that piece of fish. I paid $3.99 for a square shaped fish stick. To my surprise I was charged $1.25 for my cup of tartar sauce. It was delicious though. My little overpriced cup of tartar sauce was the best part to me. read more

This place was amazing and by far the best fish and chips and "crispys" in town; maybe the entire state! Love their pasties, now I tried their fish and chips meal when their truck stopped in Waynesville. Two huge fish fillets, absolutely delicious. The tarter sauce was unique and tasty. Also had two pieces of shrimp which were excellent, although a bit pricey for the size. This meal is worth the price. read more

My husband is English and the very first thing we do when we get off the plane in London - find a pasty shop. (then have a pear cider, but I digress) So when I found out that the double decker bus thing was now a food truck (the best places to find good food in any town) we had to go. We are vegetarians - so while it would be nice to have more veggie options - HOLY CRAP THE CHEESE AND ONION PASTIES ARE MAGIC. Paired with a real ginger beer and a flake. Well - I dont even have words to describe the bliss at being able to experience it without spending over 1k on a plane ticket. It's food you just can't get anywhere else. And it's great. Springfield has a whole bunch of Chinese places, Mexican places, and so forth, but I don't know of anywhere else you can get pasties like this. The fish and chips is okay, but the real thing is the pasties. Personally, I particularly like the more Indian-themed ones. The Bombay pasty, and the Chicken Tikka Masala one. The Banoffee Pie is a real English kind of dessert, and you can also get some genuine British soft drinks while you're there. At least this place understands how a food truck works, open pretty much everyday all day. The pasty's are great especially the crust! They are served wrapped in wax paper that resembles a news paper. We have recently switched to vegan, and I think they only have two vegetarian options. The only thing I feel they are a bit to expensive. One Pasty that is roughly 6 inches by 3 inches wide is almost $8!!! No drink or side included; to me that's just too much for a medium size sandwich, especially when you can get an entire meal for the same price at other places. It's like they are trying to use the "we're different so let's make it expensive" technique... Don't get me wrong they're great, just need to add a drink and chips for that price. read more

This gigantic food truck is, you could say, bloody awesome, especially considering the fare consists mainly of from-scratch pies and pastries like your momma would make (you know, if she had been from across the pond). Chicken pot pie, shepherd's pie, other delectable meat-and-potato dishes, plus a vegetarian choice or two make up the menu, plus fun add-ons like real British soda and real British desserts and real British candy. I finally ordered London Calling this evening with my food truck lovin' mates. While they browsed another truck, I got a dish of shepherd's pie with a cherry cola, then I went back for an apple tart and banoffee pie, which is comprised mostly of bananas, caramel, and whipped cream. Woah, British people. What some say about your cuisine is simply not true - it does NOT suck. Everything gets an A+. Bonus - the guy serving us was very sweet, talkative, and clearly would bend over backwards to give all his visitors a good experience. Another A+. Bonus bonus - the double decker bus seating idea, as I've mentioned before, is genius, and a crazy fun place to have a meal provided you don't fall up or down the very narrow stairs. The only qualm I can selfishly have: standing out in the cold still kind of sucks, and its hours are tricky (a good rule of thumb for the food truck park: Fridays for lunch/dinner or bust). I would love it if this place made enough money to someday move to even the tiniest of hole-in-the-wall locations somewhere in the city. I don't know if they changed the source ingredients or if it was an old one but they used to taste fresher and higher quality. There was not very much dulce de leche and the whip cream was thick and not very good. Also it used to be 2 to 3 times bigger and I always split it with a friend. I am not likely a good judge of London comfort food since I have never grown-up there nor have I been to London. Every item on the menu seems to be a pasty or in American terms, half pie, or hand pie. I had the curry chicken which was good but the price is a bit too steep for the meal. It's a niche. Probably a once tried thing I am unlikely to try again. I just don't see it as special or something I couldn't do at home for a lot less. It was okay. I'd never been to this mall before and when we went to the food court I was so excited to see this place! I got a chicken tikka masala pasty and my mom got fish and chips. My pasty was so good and it was wrapped up super cute. My mom loved her fish and chips. I don't really do fish but I tried to chips and wow they were delicious. They have some British treats for sale as well so I got some sweets and a can of Heinz beans because I've really been wanting to try beans on toast. Jenny was working the front and she is such a sweetheart! I pass through Springfield a lot to visit my mom in Branson so I think I'll be stopping by often to bring some pasties with me for my visit. read more

During a sixteen-hour drive with a pup ridin' shotgun, making a sit-down stop impossible, we stopped here after reading the reviews. I've been looking for a good food truck to pop my truck cherry on, and man, oh, man, was this a great choice! We pulled a "run the gambit" on the menu with a Steak and Stilton pasty and The Bombay (vegetarian pasty) meals. Each meal comes with a drink and a side. I'm not a fan of slaw, something about the mayonnaise, but when in London... I gave London Calling's Stilton coleslaw a try. Not bad. We also got a serving of Guinness gravy (so much yum) and split a warm sticky toffee pudding. Have mercy! Because curiosity got the better of us, we couldn't resist bringing home a frozen Traditional as well as a turkey & cranberry pasty, along with a Banoffee pie. The frozen pasties come with their own cooking instructions as well as a little help from the wonderfully accented gentleman on the bus. The delivery process was easy and efficient, plus a freezer bag (free!) for future orders. We had the special of the month (bacon cheeseburger) and my fave - the chicken tikka masala. Both were super delicious and made for the perfect easy meal after a long and hot day outside! So happy we have more in the freezer for future meals.
