The menu leans a bit British at times -- you'll see things like bangers and mash -- but more than anything, it's just relentlessly high-quality food done right. We had to run to Springfield to charge the car. I found the Farmers Gastropub on this app, and the food was very good. Gluten free is marked in the menu, no separate menu. The waitress we had was very nice and asked the kitchen questions for me. We ordered the Scotch Egg and the Parm fries, both were really good. They have a dedicated fryer for GF. For dinner both my husband and myself ordered the fish and chips. We both liked our dinner, I was so full from the apps, I only ate one filet (they bring you 2). They have Crème Brûlée for a GF dessert and Paul had Sticky Toffee Pudding ( not GF). We both left stuffed and happy. The decor was all England themed.they have a painter wall near the women's bathroom with Big Ben, HP, 007, Buckingham Palace. Very dissatisfying, i got the paper airplane which was good. Asked about the Bangers and Mash and the staff oh it's very good. Only good if you like sodium loaded onion gravy. My wife and I have gone to GastroPub on Glenstone for over nine years and loved the fish and chips. We went today and the sizes of the fish were literally like glorified fish sticks. It used to actually be a 6 ounce filet for small order and two six ounce filets for large. Now they are only three ounces each. This is per the manager I talked to today. Used to love this place. Ordered Brussels Sprouts and Mac n Cheese w/ blackened chicken. Brussels sprouts were great. But it went downhill from there. Mac n Cheese has almost no cheese. Chicken is not blackened at all. Not to mention, there is less than 1.5oz of chicken. And you charged an extra $6 dollars for chicken that's not blackened and not even a full serving of chicken (4-6oz would be reasonable) May try again, but I've seen lots of other poor reviews also around quality of food. This was our first time to this place and it didn't disappoint. My husband and I split a scotch egg for an appetizer - it was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the shrimp tacos and I got the fried chicken mac-and-cheese (minus the peas). We were pleasantly surprised with the spice levels in both dishes (we both grew up in Louisiana), and neither entree was bland at all. You should have the Hugo spritz it has a hint of mint it is refreshing, and it is very herbaceous. The fish and chips with coleslaw: the coleslaw has ranch and it tasted tangy with a good crunch. Crispy sausage outside, perfectly cooked egg on the inside, and the mustard and relish is always divine. 5/5 stars. This was the first time I tried the cream of mushroom soup. Very savory, but also slightly tangy. The mushrooms were very well blended and not noticeable at all with texture (a bummer for me, but for others I'm sure that's welcome news). 4/5 stars. As always, the Fish and Chips never fails. Crispy battered fish, freshly cut fries, and perfectly cooked peas. The fries automatically come with ketchup - a big no-no across the pond, but here it's standard. You are given the choice of vinegar or tartar sauce. All things considered it is the fish that shines. 5/5 stars. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. And the vibe is casual, homey, and friendly. Giving this place 3 stars, some aspects qualifying for a 4 star rating. I wasn't entirely comfortable with the safety aspect during this time of Covid. I know, shame on me for indoor dining but it was too rainy and cold to dine outside. The entrance way/waiting area is tight so it's impossible to avoid close proximity with others, and, there is no way that tables are 6 feet apart. The place was fairly packed with diners and staff. Our waiter was jovial and friendly.(4 stars). We started with the brussel sprout appetizer (4 stars), it was a huge portion and packed with flavor. My husband had fish and chips which were average and they were out of the side he wanted (mashed peas). I wanted the kale/falafel sandwich but on the naan instead of the usual bread. I was happy that my waiter said he always makes that switch for himself. When my dish and side salad came they looked a little smallish and sad- enough to fill me up but they just didn't look ultra appetizing on the plate. Ordered : Fish N' Chips - $18.50 Kids Chicken tenders - $10.00 Butter Chicken Curry - $17.50 Side salad with grilled Chicken - $12.00 My 15 year old son ordered the fish n chips. When he saw the plate, he was suprised at how little there was. A single fillet (approximately 4.5" by 2") and a handful of fries with a small bowl of slaw. Fish and fries had all been cooked in OLD OIL (wife ran restaurants in Florida and knows these things). When we visited a year ago, we had the option of one fillet or two, FOR THE SAME PRICE. The food was really good. But yesterday, Ive had better fish n chips from Long John Silvers. My wife ordered the Buttter Chicken Curry for $17.50. Again disappointed. Approximately 1/4 cup of shredded chicken, 1/4 cup of white rice. Bland, cardboard flavored chicken with a pita cut in half was what she got. You can do better buying Pataks Butter Chicken and making it yourself. You would think for these prices, you would get more. But no. Smallest portions I've had in a very long time and the taste was almost unbearable. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

This review is a few years overdue. I love this restaurant. The first time I ate here, the location was still downtown. I had fish & chips and the mashed peas and fell in love! I've been here a couple other times and usually always get the fish & chips. Their Scottish eggs are always delicious too! Service is top notch, beer selection is top notch, and everything my husband & I have had is always delicious. They locally source most of their ingredients, which will always win me over! My New England roots approved! 6) Every time I try to get something on the healthier side, it's just not the best place for this type of food. No way to keep clean here and the salads are a hard pass. Think more comfort and there is some Asian/Indian inspired dishes. Try to stay away from those. And the ramens fail in the umai flavors - but it's really nice if it is a rainy day. Trout Deviled Eggs!! I really enjoyed this place. I've been here 3 times now, each with an excellent experience. I love the different foods they create. The smoked trout deviled eggs were so delicious! It seems like a delicacy! The first time I was here, I ordered the Green Pasta. It doesn't have meat, but it was very light and delicious. It was lovely. The second time, I ordered the special of the day, and the third time, I got the blacken catfish which was good too! Everything I have tried is really good here! I love that! The only think I don't like is they have sooo many beers but there's no beer list, so it's a bit difficult to choose a beer. I have enjoyed several dishes at this establishment. The mushroom soup and seared cod is amazing. I did however have an unfortunate incident when I took my daughter. She ordered the steak burger and it was served to her rare. She requested it to be cooked through. The server popped off that it was a steak burger, took it to the kitchen and brought it back rare again. During the same visit I got fried fish with doughy batter. Nice spot in Springfield. Don't let the outside fool you. The inside is rustic and cute. We had a flawless meal with about 25 people and small children in their private room. The service was impeccable, I do not know how Mandy, our cheerful server, did it. The food was flawless. I had the special, a not too spicy chicken curry. The scotch egg was a stand out. The Fried chicken looked crispy and juicy. No complaints from anyone.
