I recently booked a room at the Long Beach Hotel. I had tickets to go see Kevin Hart this Friday and decided I wanted to stay close by and spend Saturday at the beach. Unfortunately, one of my best friends died suddenly and I called to cancel my reservations 48 hours prior to arriving. They immediately shot me down and said that it did not matter the circumstance, that they have a strict 72 hour cancellation policy and they were charging me regardless. I offered to provide them with documentation,. They said it did not matter. I asked to speak to a manager and got the voice mail and left a message with no return call. I called 4 times today and finally spoke to Randy, the front desk manager who was rude and told me he really did not care of the circumstance I would be charged anyway... I replied.. Well I will cancel my card before I let these charges go through.. Appalled does not even describe how I felt. I immediately called my credit card company (Capital One, which by the by is amazing) and we 3 way called Randy to assure him these charges would be disputed if they charged me. Again he was rude to me and the credit card rep and stated that they tried to charge my card as soon as I called (before even the time of my reservation mind you) and my card was declined so then that cancelled my reservation. And made some nasty comment about me not having the money to pay... Well thank god for me booking the reservation with my maxed out card and not with another card or I would have been screwed. These are some of the worst people I have ever dealt with and they should be ashamed of the way they treated me and apparently other customers. DO NOT STAY HERE EVER. THESE PEOPLE ARE AWFUL AND UNSYMPATHETIC TO ANY OF YOUR NEEDS!!!! read more

What a terrible experience I had at this hotel! After parking at the hotel and heading to the beach, we were told we had to return in 1.5 hours to get the special parking rate. We came back to the hotel to have dinner there after about 2 hours. My friend had fallen on the boardwalk and that's why we were detained. I explained to CHRIS DRAGO the general manager what had happened and requested the original parking price of $15, explaining the details of my friend's injuries. He could care less, and charged us $40 for parking anyway, although we had dinner there! No compassion, just straight business. I won't be going back.. oh and yeah, the food is nothing special and expensive. You blew it, Chris. Thanks for nothing. read more

Awful in almost every respect! This is a really run down hotel that appears to be using cosmetic fixes in the lobby to try and pretend it is something else. Check-in: the front desk staff were friendly enough and gave us 2 key cards to our room on the 3rd floor. Having just completed a 4-hour drive, we were eager to take a quick shower and head out. Once the circa 1920s elevator arrived we headed upstairs. There is an hand-printed sign inside the elevator telling you to keep 1 foot back from the inside metal cage. But given the already small size of the elevator that means that 2 people have to jam themselves against the back wall - never mind having room for any luggage. We make it, however, and step off into the hallway where it becomes very clear that the lobby is the ONLY thing in this place that has been renovated in a very long time. The walls and trim have that really thick (electric blue) paint that tells its age almost like the rings on a tree. The carpeting was old, faded, and oddly thick, but not in a plush, luxurious kind of way. We found our room only to discover that neither of the key cards would unlock the door. There is no courtesy phone in the hallway so I had to hoof it back down to the front desk. The attendant apologized and gave me 2 new cards, and upstairs I went, this time taking the stairs as they seemed more efficient (and probably safer). Back to the room again to try again. Same problem - these cards don't work either! So back downstairs I go again. This time I have to wait for the attendant to finish a conversation with a co-worker. She seemed puzzled at my predicament but called over the maintenance person whom she said has a master key to the electronic system. Then, just in case she also gave me a metal key. Even the "master key" would not open the door so we had to settle for one old fashioned key. No problem, we were at least going to be able to get inside. Entering the room, we both immediately came to realize that it might have been better had we remained locked out. The room was tiny and sparse, with an odd palette of mismatched paint colors on the walls. The air conditioner was running, and while it was effective at cooling, it was extremely loud. The bathroom is circa 1940s -- a tiny attached sink and wall and tub tiles/grout that are moldy and cracked in spots. More gross, there were 3 or 4 strands of long, dark curly hair stuck to the inside wall of the shower, which tells me that either the tub had not been cleaned at all prior to our arrival, or that it was cleaned quite poorly. There was only a few sheets of toilet tissue left on the roll and no new roll provided, a fact we unfortunately discovered the hard way. Thank god I had brought tissues. If you want to press your clothing or dry your hair you should probably stay elsewhere. There was no iron, ironing board, or hair dryer provided. My BF called down to the desk and they said they would bring up an iron; it was still warm from the prior user and the cover on the board they provided had both burn marks and a large prominent tear right down the middle. No apology for the condition, either. The hair dryer they ultimately provided after I called the desk about that was one that could be purchased for around $6 at a dollar store. You mean to tell me they can't afford to actually put one in each room? We seriously felt like we should be expecting a call at any moment to tell us that we were exceeding our allotted time for these "extra" amenities and would have to wrap it up so guests in another room could iron their clothes and dry their hair. The queen bed was cheap and uncomfortable for two people. Any time one of us moved, the entire bed moved. The sheets were fine, although not luxurious by any stretch, but the lone blanket provided was thin and dingy - almost like a larger version of those cheap airline blankets. We slept so poorly that even though we stayed out late the prior night as soon as we opened our eyes we looked at one another and said, "let's get the hell outta here." We also had a drink at the bar prior to meeting our friends (it had to be better than waiting in our room). The staff was friendly again, and the bar seemed to be trying to be "hip" but at 4:30 pm on a Saturday in the middle of the summer they had already run out of limes. Wish they had told us that prior to ordering a margarita. And it wasn't as if they just didn't have any more limes cut, they had run out entirely. Who is in charge of the ordering for that to happen? And it's not like they were really busy -- other than the 2 of us there were only 3 or 4 other customers in the entire bar. I have stayed at "basic" hotels all over the world, including in some Third World countries. The Long Beach Hotel ranks among the worst, particularly given the value you get for your money. When you think about the creativity of the name of this hotel and the pain that the owners must have went through when thinking it up, you should get very good indication of the product that they offer. But I gave it a shot anyway. I normally stay at the other hotel in LB, which just so happened to be sold out the night I was looking to stay, so I decided to try this place out. Upon arrival, the lobby looked clean an inviting. The adjacent bar appeared thriving and fun. But that's pretty much the extent of this place. The elevator to the hotel rooms is still out from Sandy (10 months later) and the stairs to the rooms are a bit steep. That aside, the hallways are rigid and dated and the rooms are cramped (pics on the website are misleading) and completely behind my expectation of any modern day accommodation. But you get what you pay for. The rate was good for a Saturday night in the summer. I would have much rather paid a premium; however, for the lux accommodations in the other hotel in town. read more

Staying at the Long Beach hotel when it is warm leaves you with two options for when you try to get to sleep: (1) not have the AC window unit on and not be able to sleep because of the heat and high humidity or (2) have the AC on and not be able to sleep because of how loud the AC is and if, perchance, you fall asleep after the room reaches a decent comfort level be awakened by the AC when it kicks back on. read more

This is not your regular hotel that looks like all the rest. It is eclectic and has lots of character. If you want something that 's unique and memorable, stay here. It's one of our fondest memories and one of very few hotels that we even CAN remember. It's our "Breakfast at Tiffany's". read more

Parking situation is horrendous. Had to pay $25 for a night of valet, from 9pm to 7am when I checked out. Didn't really deal with the staff on such a short trip but did realize some odd things about the room. My girlfriend and I stayed for only a night but me being in construction noticed some things maybe somebody else wouldn't. Starting with the bathroom, the shower curtain is hung up by electrical conduit held up by threaded rod and a strap( nothing galvanized so everything was rusted). Now into the room. All sprinkler heads and pipes are ran exposed and rusted/ painted over. This is the first time I've stayed in a $300 a night hotel with this type of construction. Besides the new hardwood flooring and flat screen tv , everything was outdated , old and broken. Also the AC we had was a small obnoxiously loud window unit and not a PTAC unit typically found in higher end hotels at this price. I would normally not complain about the high pricing , but for this price I would expect one of their newly renovated rooms , unless this one was renovated but cheaply and poorly at that. Last week I discovered the restaurant and bar in the Long Beach Hotel. It is definitely a hidden treasure. The sushi is expertly prepared. The salmon entree literally melted in my mouth. I returned again tonight and again I am more then please with the dinner. Prices are reasonable but you definitely get your money's worth and much more read more

One of the worst experiences I've ever had at any hotel in the country. The kid at the front desk (with the tats) was a scam artist. I called twice during the day I was to arrive to make sure the lower rate was available. The second time I called was an hour before I came in and the front desk guy said the rate was still available. When I arrived at the hotel all of a sudden the lower rate was gone. I asked how could that be if he told me all day that it would still be there? Is reply was " you hung up the phone to fast so I couldn't tell you the lower rate had been gone. When I asked when was last room taken at that rate he said "two weeks ago". I won't even go into the rest of this disaster. Don't stay here. It ended up costing me $212.00 for a sh *t hole room with a bathroom so small you couldn't fit on the toilet seat. Bad overall experience. You're better off bringing a sleeping bag and sleeping on the sidewalk! read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Let me start with arrival...when we checked in everything seemed better than the reviews. The lobby is nice and the service was good. Then we get to the elevator which is this little elevator that can only fit 2 people and one luggage each (must be carry on size). The elevator is so shabby you would think you're in a horror movie. When we get to out level we noticed this was a bad idea and should've ran while we had the chance. The carpet was DISGUSTING, the walls needed to be cleaned BADLY and the hallway had a distinct smell that made you feel as if you're in an antique shop. Now for the room. Keep in mind I read the reviews before I got there but I still decided to give it a chance because what may have been a bad experience for you, may not be a bad experience for me. Now we get in the room and the room is small but quaint and nothing spectacular. It's literally an apartment room without a microwave and/or refrigerator but has two closets and a full size bathroom. The smell was ok. When you get settled in and sit on the bed it started creaking! WTF. Then you have wood floors so you know you're going to hear everyone above you walking with there shoes on (which we did). Again, my bf and I were like its weekend getaway lets just enjoy each other and not worry about the negatives. We then went to go take a shower which we let the water run because I've seen many reviews where the water turned brown (GROSS!). Luckily we didn't have that problem. The bed was so noisy that you can hear the next room "business". Next night. I decided to get breakfast at the bar that's downstairs. The bar wasn't bad at all I order the Belgian waffles w/mixed fruit ($10), sausage ($7), eggs w/American cheese ($10) and a pineapple juice ($2), the eggs were bad with the cheese so I had two bites and threw it a way, the Belgian waffles were ok but it had a distinct taste that you can't put your finger on, the sausages were ok. The whole thing was ok. Anyway, I get back to my room and relax till its time to go out and the towel we placed on the tub floor turned BROWN!!!. I was so disgusted it was ridiculous. Then I put down another one let the water run and then that towel turned brown (GROSS). My bf came and wanted to take a shower and I had to change the towel again. We were so disgusted! Then we went downstairs to complain and ask if they can send housekeeping up to our room to clean the bathroom and the receptionist response was because you're leaving the next day and it's after 6pm they're not going to clean your room. They'll clean it tomorrow once you leave. I said really? She said yes! I was so astonished that I just walked away. I won't even tell you what happened the last day! My advice DO NOT stay at this hotel!!! Spend your money any stay at a hotel you can feel comfortable and have clean water. This hotel should really be shut down! read more

Review of reasturant\bar It took us a full year to come back to the hotel bar\reasturant bar after a lack of service and being over charged for drinks and guess what a year later and the same thing happened even after explaining to the waiter why we haven't returned in a year because of overcharging. A year later and after getting our bill we asked to see the drink menu again to check. Low and behold their print menu in deed showed lower prices then what we were billed rather then honoring those printed prices our waiter informed us that he some how gave us menus with the old prices mean while they were identical to the first set we saw when we sat to order . And to and insult to injury he informed us that a new menu was being given out tomorrow and we should have went with a bucket special, that we were never informed of. After all we told him how we have been rippled off in the past and said to him your employer is doing it again all he could say is I hope I see you again. This is not the first incident their has been multiple times in the past where the reasturant was to be open but wasn't and we were sat in the bar section with a one poor lonely bartender waiting tables bussing tables and serving drink for everyone in the place all at the same time with no help. Their management really needs evaluate themselves and be consistent one way or the other in regards to being a real sit down reasturant or just be a bar food place if they want to think of a long term future in this area. Again please note this is a review of their bar reasturant experience not the full hotel applications. It's sad that we can't even enjoy a bar reasturant across the street without being taken advantage of in our small city by the Sea. No Parking. Poor coordination with a warm smile. Asked on several occasions to have lighting in reception ball room to be looked at as many halogen bulbs on filthy chandelier style fixtures were out all over. 4 personnel with the wrong bulbs couldn't even figure out the fixture on friends wedding day to remove existing bulbs so it was all a dog and pony show to appease us. Its apparent they avoid the fixture instead of learning how to deal with it or hire an electrician to relamp... Had a nightmare room experience, the room buildouts are as poor or worse than the lobby. We got room changed 3 times due to several malfunctions AC, Horrible Plumbing. Hot water in shower ran out every few minutes. We settled for room with half broken AC and Intermediate hot water shower package. Wrote General Manager and never received reply back. Its been over a week. They can do much better and so can you. Run to the beach, right past this place. read more

Ok, how do I start. I came here for a friends wedding at bridge view. The proximity to the wedding hall was good as far as my google map was concerned. This seemed to be a new place and I wanted to give it a shot. What a mistake. First of all you need to be lucky to be able to park near the hotel. When I arrived I got lucky with a spot, on the way back from the wedding, I was not. I normally would not mind walking, but it is surrounded by section 8 type housing with guys loitering around the front of the buildings all hours of the night. I walked past them in my brides maids gown. Very uncomfortable. The rooms were a cross between a dorm room and a halfway house. I guess not bad for the price, but considering the location you get what you pay for. The hallways were claustrophobic and the rooms were on the small side, wood floors, clean enough. Once again, my window faced the apartment building across the street. The hotel is also located two blocks from the beach. Not bad if only it was not a scary walk. I did like the garage door type wall in the bar, but it faces an apartment building across the street. The crowd was mostly homely locals. Friendly enough I guess, but underwhelmed. read more

My husband and I went to the Bar/grill for dinner. I had the filet mignon Panini. It was horrible. The meat didn't taste right. There was no horseradish/ mayo sauce on it like they said. It didn't even come with fries. My husband had the burger. It was like any other burger but it was $15. My Panini was also $15. The waitress was so slow and not attentive, even though there was only 2 other people there. The prices are outrageous. I should have paid more attention to the bad reviews I read. Will never go back again in fear of getting sick read more

This review is for the Bar and Grill. I live a few blocks away and live having this place so close by. I really like the atmosphere for a casual Friday night dare night. The happy hour prices are very reasonable and the food is really good. I love the Beet Salad with Grilled chicken. I've tried different appetizers, burgers, pizza and its all been really good. The staff is very friendly and there is live music on weekends! . Best part is I can walk there but I really enjoy it every time I go. I would give it 0 stars if that was possible... room was the size of a closet, so overpriced. The hotel people are not accommodating at all. We booked a room (weeks in advance) as part of a wedding party and they ended up charging us the full price instead of the wedding rate. The refused to credit for the difference as any reputable business would have done.... such poor customer service. At this rate, they should be going out of business by the end of the year. Amazing place! I had a direct Ocean view. The room had hardwood floors and windows that opened all the way to get cross ventilation. Everyone was pleasant and aimed to please. They thought of everything and have jazz music playing in the halls, they leave out fresh pitchers of water with fruit in it and piping hot coffee.If you want to be left alone they do not bother you or make any noise around your room. I was so happy to find this hotel and will be back as soon as possible. i never wanted to leave. read more

This review is for the bar grill in hotel lobby. DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS Dinner 8 pm on a Saturday night. We are the only table. 4 people. Well how else can I put it besides worst service in the tri state area. Took over 1 hour between average apps and meal, no water, no bread, no cleaning off table. Waiter is nowhere to be found, and NO ON ELSE CARES THERE. We complained to the manager but she could not care less. This is how she runs it. Worse than poor. Then on the way out of this place we run into manager getting high out front with her friend. I guess the manager is too high to give a crap about anyone but herself. This was the first time in my life that I would have skipped out without paying, but I am sure when the manager sobered up she would watch video and put our pics on TV. There is absolutely no reason in the world to go to this neglectful place, unless you just want to feel like a schmuck. read more

Very great location one block from the beach! Management very accommodating. Heard restaurant was good, but at 8 pm, very loud with some odd and loud trivia game going on. Waited in bar for a long time for a table. Decided to wander in to the other restaurant across the lobby which was very quiet and empty except for 2 couples. Sat down and had decent service. Found out that this was a kosher restaurant which was fine even though we do not eat kosher. Ordered a few appetizers which were good. The vibe was weird for us but it was still ok. This place is really a diamond in the rough and I think that management is trying hard. One addition is that we experienced some paranormal activity in the room, nothing scary, just weird, not sure if anyone else who has stayed here has experienced this. Would not prevent us from staying again. Some work to be done but feel that management is trying to make it happen! read more

Terrible. Don't waste your money. WAY overpriced. Our room was renovated but clearly done on the super cheap. Friends room was not renovated and was in serious need of Reno. The room next to us was being worked on with constant hammering and workers going back and forth. The door to the room had a HUGE gap allowing bright light in to the room all night long. No curtain on bathroom window that faced other windows in hotel! And no way to hang a towel or anything to cover it. No hook on bathroom door for robe. Water pressure was TERRIBLE. Not even enough pressure to rinse shampoo out of hair. Water never got hot regardless of how long we ran it. The Restaurant and bar were closed for Passover events but we weren't informed of this when we called to make our reservations. Nor were we told there'd be no access to vending machines because of Passover. Street parking was difficult and the hotel wanted $15 a night for us to park a block away (no valet either!). When we complained, manager Randy smirked and said "there would be no compensation". I insisted that we should have been told about the events preventing access to the Restaurant and bar and the ongoing Reno when we booked our reservation but he did not agree. Terrible hotel, terrible customer service. We will never stay here again and would suggest you don't either! If they offered some kind of compensation -- anything -- I would never have written this review. Things can go wrong but it's how customer service deals with it that can make all the difference in the world. This was just shameful. read more

Despite the bad food and horrible service from previous visits, we decided to try it one more time. Got to the bar and got a seat outside. When the waitress came out, she took the other table's order but couldn't be bothered to come one more table and take our order. Worst service ever. Too bad because we live so close. Two weeks ago I hosted my daughter's wedding at the Long Beach Hotel. At this stage of my life I can say I have attended and hosted all types of catered affairs at venues that range from the grandest and most luxurious to the most basic. I can say without hesitation that I have never had a better experience anywhere. From planning through the final moments of our event Jackie Salorio, the event planner, was there to assist and accommodate all of our needs. Chris, the manager,saw to it that every detail of the actual party came off smoothly from start to finish. They were both wonderful to work with, friendly, smart and available ...even when we were just getting pre event jitters. They listened to all the wishes of the Bride and Groom and wisely guided all us through every decision we were unsure of. The cocktail hour was held in a separate space that was both comfortable, contemporary and club-like. The options for food during the cocktail hour would satisfy any palate. Available were old favorites and clever new ideas like mini sliders with a cone of fries architecturally perched on vanilla shake filled shot glasses. The Peking Duck Station was not to be missed. Our guests are still talking about both items. The actual wedding ceremony took place in the ball room and our guests were welcomed by an attentive staff who helped with the programs and seating. The bridal room was large enough to accommodate all the women of the bridal party. It was clean and comfortable with private bathroom en suite. We were offered champagne and snacks during the hours we were dressing and taking photos. Though we didn't plan on needing one, Bridal Attendant ,Randy, was a must, taking care of us every step of the way. During the party he stepped in with extras for our guests and went above and beyond our expectations. He was efficient, knowledgeable and charming. After the ceremony, the ball room was transformed with soft colorful lighting and beautifully set round tables that offered seating for 8 to 12. The wait staff was polite, attentive and never intrusive. Kudos, to the chef who created a delicious and wonderful menu to choose from. Dinner to dessert, the food was served tastefully and was delicious. The good size wooden dance floor was filled with family and friends and everyone had a great time. Some of our guests came from a distance and it was very convenient that they could spend the night right at the hotel . Rooms are basic, but clean, comfortable and affordable. After the actual wedding ended, the hotel bar was a great place for a small after party. We didn't take advantage of the beach and the boardwalk a block away for photos, but it is an option for those who want it. Without reservation, I can say this is a terrific place for a party. If you live in the area, it's a little known secret in your own backyard. If you are a bit further, it's well worth the trip. read more

same type of review as Anne-Paige . First night at 11 pm when my wife and I were just about to doze off we were startled when it sounded like people were entering our room. I did the same as Anne ,went right on down to the lobby and complained about the noise from the adjoining room. They gave us a postage stamp room down the hallway . We traipsed all our luggage ,items from the closet and drawers down to the postage stamp romm at 11;30 PM . The bed was LARGE ! Appeared that way it filled the room . Couldn't open dresser drawers due to bed being so close . No bedside tables or lamps. Has to be some good with the bad ---. After our complaint to the manager the next morning he offered us (70 somthings ) the HONEYMOON SUITE FOR THE NEXT TWO NIGHTS ! The rooms all have individule heaters. The maintenance man could't get ours operating and gave us extra blankets. Kinda cozy . The glassed in coctail lounge overlooking " broadway " was a relaxing spot to end a hectic day . Bartender "Dean " was a joy . The Long Beach Hotel needs lots of tweeking ..Maybe with our next visit from Florida we will add more stars. read more

I travel often and I want to warn fellow travelers to avoid the Long Beach Hotel. I thought this would be a charming remodel of an old Long Beach building. My experience was anything but charming. The new owners must have thought by painting the walls, and adding a hip bar and flat screen TVs in the rooms, guests would overlook the shabby service and ill smelling odors of the lobby, halls, elevator, and rooms. Shabby service is actually too tame a description. Our room was not cleaned although we left for the day at 9am. When we returned that evening and called the desk to inform them of the unmade bed and wet towels, we were told to bring our bags down to the lobby and we'd be given a new room. Our new room was only a few doors away but still we were asked to carry our own bags to the lobby and then back to the new room (no help was offered). The new room did not even have a chair in which to sit. At 2 am that morning, we were suddenly woken by someone loudly trying to enter our room. Fortunately we had engaged the safety lock. It turned out it was a staff member who was unaware that guests were sleeping in the room because no notation of a room change had been made in the computer - There was no explanation as to why a staff member wanted to enter a guest room???. When we checked out and complained about the service, we were told that the manager would contact us....the manager never contacted us to respond to our concerns. read more

I am extremely disappointed in this place. I live nearby and every time I go to the bar and grill, I have a different experience. The service is most frequently the worst I've ever had. My most recent experience was today, late morning, on Memorial Day weekend, when I sat there for 15 minutes before I had to request a menu only to be given the wrong menu. We ordered coffees and sat for another 15 minutes while the manager twirled her hair, the sole waitress ran around doing god knows what because not one of the 5 seated tables were interacted with and the bus boy stood there with a puzzled look on his face. We watched one table of 4 walk out while the manager apologized but continued to do nothing. After a total of 35 minutes, we still had no coffee, no waters and still were holding the menus we asked for. Knowing our nice "quick" brunch would definitely be extended to a 2 hour nightmare, we also left without one word from anyone. Not sure I will be returning. read more

It would of been better if I had just slept on the beach for the three nights I stayed here at the Long Beach Hotel. I booked a room almost three weeks before I arrived from California and requested a small fridge ( extra charge) to keep my insulin in. I also reminded the woman taking my reservation that I would be checking in late because I wasn't arriving until after 9pm into JFK. I checked in around 9:45pm on Friday. First, the elevator was out of service, so I carried my own bag up two flights of stairs to one of the smallest rooms I have ever seen. The spare bedroom in my home was larger then this room I was about to pay $170 a night for, and the bathroom was about the size of a small closet. The sink was maybe 10" square, every knob on the sink & shower was loose, hardly any water pressure at all, drawers were gritty so I wouldn't even put my clothes away and one draw was filled with a bunch of used, dirty towels. Of course there was no fridge, which I had ordered in advance. I went down and reported my findings to the night desk clerk and since the restaurant was closed until Sunday, I went out into town to find a bite to eat. Upon my return I found a small fridge in the hallway outside my door. I carried it into the room & hooked it up myself. Of course I had to clean it out because the inside of it was gross. The next day, Saturday, I had breakfast at a diner in town with the couple I was in Long beach to visit. Without my knowledge, my sister-in-law had gone to the hotel & complained to the daytime desk clerk about what I had told them about the room. Later that afternoon when I arrived back to the hotel, the desk clerk told me that they were sorry & were going to give me another room. My nephew moved the fridge for me while his wife and I moved my belongings. The room was a bit larger but that was about all I could say nice about it. No TP, no blanket, loose knobs on the sink & shower. Still no water pressure, but at least the drawers were clean enough to put my clothes away. Unlike real hotels there were no ice machines anywhere, so when I went down to the desk clerk to see about getting some TP, I also was able to obtain a bucket of ice. In the room that they changed me too, I also noticed that the floor was slanted, buckled in spots, which I thought was weird. I don't know who they hired to renovate this place but I'm sure it was all done on the Cheap and possibility by a fly-by-night contractor. I will say that the staff, both the night & day desk clerks were friendly, helpful and very apologetic, but the pictures and write-up of the hotel & especially the rooms are a JOKE. It was a huge mistake to stay here at the Long Beach Hotel and I would never recommend it to anyone or make a return visit. Its nothing more then an over priced FLOP HOUSE and I feel sorry for anyone who books a reservation there. One of the worst experiences I have ever had. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! read more

Been here several times and have always experienced the same poor service. For starters, when you enter the hotel, there is no one to greet you. Every time we have gone to the bar area for either dinner or drinks or both, and there is never anyone to seat you or to tell you to seat yourself. When its busy, it is really annoying to compete with other people waiting for tables. Every time we had to go into the lobby and wait longer than we should have for someone to acknowledge us, just to ask them if we should seat ourselves. We recently went for dinner and after seating ourselves at a cool looking four top with comfy seats, someone came over and took that table away replacing it with a teeny tiny cocktail table. It didn't make any sense...we had to ask for a bigger table. After getting our drinks we had to wait about ten minutes for menus. I finally had to get up and go ask for menus. The bar food itself is not bad, but they REALLY need to step up the service because we are very easy going people and always leave here feeling annoyed. read more

One of our biggest mistakes before coming here has been becoming huge fans of John Taffer and his TV Show "Bar Rescue". If you haven't seen it, I strongly encourage you to. Don't get me wrong, before watching the show, I would admittedly go into places and without a doubt find a good 5 things to update/change/fix. However after watching the show, my eyes darted all over this misdirected establishment hoping to find something done right. Here's a quick 1-2 of some of the things we noticed: 1) strobe lighting on a Wednesday night in the "lounge", 2) regular lights in dated ceiling fans replaced with blue light bulbs. (Fact: Blue light bulbs do not equate to "cool".); 3) an exposed ice machine; 4) empty beer bottle boxes strewn about; 5) fruit juice passing off as wine; 6) entirely inedible food doused with salt in attempt to trick patrons into thinking this is flavor; 7) misspelled items on the menu (Fact: Microsoft word has spell-check); 8) unfortunate table arrangements; 9) poor attempt at décor; and 10) a generally really bizarre vibe. Frankly, the place smelled like an old VFW...stale cigarettes and warm beer. It's a shame because having a place to walk to... to enjoy a cold one and some good eats on the East End is rare - this had a ton of potential and bombed a huge opportunity. The saving grace was the bartender. She was a gem. read more
