I think they are open to the public after a certain time so if you aren't a member you can still stroll on in.

It's an airport hotel. I'm adjusting my review accordingly. It's probably the furthest airport…read morehotel from the airport I've ever encountered. But given that it's JFK which is ridiculously huge, this hotel is theoretically close. The Airtrain and Subway will take you right there although once you get off the subway, the area appears a little sketchy and there is no escalators down to Street level. So I wouldn't recommend coming to the hotel via that direction unless you have little luggage and are familiar with the Subway system. It's a beuatiful area nonetheless, experiencing some gentrification. And the ride over the bay is beautiful. We booked online with rewards points. 4 rooms. Very easy. Rooms were clean and quiet. But THE reason why this was a fabulous experience was the staff. 5 star treatment the entire time. Tracy in particular was amazing. Her explanations we're concise. She was graceful, kind and attentive. We loved her. We used the hotel lobby to play games and enjoy our group of 8. We were loud, not obnoxious, but loud nonetheless and the front desk accommodated us effortlessly. Free airport shuttle. Good breakfast with bacon, eggs, grits, pancakes, waffles. I'd certainly stay here again.

Hotels.com tricked me into thinking this airport was much closer to the airport than it really was…read morebut it was 1:30 and I had a cranky husband in tow. Plus even in Queens, hotels under $200/night are hard to come by. The hotel is pretty basic but generally comfortable, clean, and recently renovated. The ladies that checked us in were patient despite the cranky husband and the phone glued to my head as I talking to/yelling at JetBlue and distractedly answered their questions. They gave me a free tube of toothpaste and a comb because I don't pack these things when going to visit my parents. Thanks, ladies! The hotel offers a nice view of the of the AC train as well as the ocean. The windows could be more soundproof but, hey, this is NY and would you really come here for peace and quiet? It's also walking distance to the beach which we didn't actually see because we arrived and departed under cover of night. Overall, if you're crammed into a tin can for 6 hours and lied to all night long, this is a pretty nice way to spend the 4 hours you get before you have to rush back to your new flight. Bonus: Free shuttle to the airport!

The bathroom lacked so many things....a toilet paper holder, any size towels other than very small bath towels. There was not an iron, hangers, or drawers to store anything. This place is a dump.

Don't make the same mistake. Stay at the airport and sleep in those uncomfortable chairs! Unfortunately, the place is a dump and appears to be inhabited by mostly raunchy, long term residents. There were bags of trash and food containers in the hallway. Someone's tv was blasting all night and could be heard in the corridor and through the walls. The hotel is extremely old and outdated. The owners are putting absolutely no money into fixing any of the many issues with the dilapidated building. Holes in the walls, tape on the smoke detector and trash in the shower to name a couple of the issues. Once we arrived we learned about the blue light special and paid $60 cash for 4 hours. We knew then we'd made a mistake but it was too late to back track. We did not shower, used Lysol wipes and small cans of Lysol to disinfect as much as possible then slept in our clothes with one eye open. Front desk staff and security guard were either sleepy, bored with their jobs or both. Neither were happy to see us. The only plus I can give this place is that it's walking distance to the subway for transportation.
