"Oh baby yooouuuuu......... got what I need......" yes I did start singing in the cab on Saturday night......my drunk friends sang with me and I felt like we were in a Heineken commercial but sadly the cab driver did not sing :-( and actually was not fun at all. He did his job and got us home safe and sound but even in my drunkenness could tell he was annoyed. Then he would not take my credit card (which I still don't get bc all Yellow Cabs are suppose to take cc). I know it's a pain in the a** and I know they prefer cash but I didn't have any and was shi*faced so take it and pray for a large tip because drunk me cannot do math! But he wouldn't......so lucky me (or him) had cash in the house to give him. Now I understand....drunk people when you aren't drunk can be very very annoying so if you are not in the mood or don't have the patience to put up with them then don't work at 2 AM on a Friday or Saturday night. This cab driver obviously wasn't the nicest or the coolest but overall this still gets my 4 stars because there have been many that have listened to our f'ed up conversations, taken us through the Del Taco drive thrus, helped me retrieve my crap out of back of the cab when I have dropped something in my drunken state, and been just overall cool. It is 1 am in the morning and I am sitting outside waiting for my 3rd cab. The first driver who was Asian was over charging me for a cab ride, cab #1108 and when I asked about it he yelled..." I'm gonna need a deposit or I can just take you home" When he got me home he waited for the other cab and told that driver to ask for a deposit because I'm black. I heard the conversation clearly. When I called to ask if they can discriminate I was told they can decide according to the area and the person. This is a very discriminatory policy! Are they serious!!! It should never take a cab an hour and a half to arrive, but that is exactly what happened to me yesterday. I called at 2:30 to request a cab to get me to the airport. My flight did not leave till 4:20 so I figured it was plenty of time. The woman on the phone told me a cab would arrive in half an hour or less. At 3:10 I called back, since there had been no cab had arrived. They had not even ordered one. This lovely process of me calling them back and them telling me cab had not even been dispatched went on for another 40 minutes before they finally got someone to show up...at 3:56. By the time I got to the airport it was 4:13, there was no way I was going to be able to make my flight. I had to change my flight, take additional transportation and missed my evening classes. The cab drivers were fine. The dispatcher owes me roughly about $100 in changed flights, cab and BART fees. read more

This is really the only cab service in Long Beach. They are usually timely when called, during off hours and can usually be hailed from local dining/bar areas. However they tend to take the long route to everywhere. Cab drivers know how to get places, Long beach cabs are just imfamous for taking longer/slower routes to increase the fare by 10-20%. How I know??? There are maybe 1-2 that do the right way and the price is lower to most locals. Same destination should have such a wide gap in fare rate. Dont worry Yellow.. So surprised by LBYC. Uber x is around 38 bucks from tustin to long beach. But when I inquired about a return trip with LBYC to tustin I was quoted a flat rate deal of 70 bucks. DOUBLE. I was shocked. I thought it might be 50 but not 70. I found a 50 dollar option (not a cab) but will never plan on LBYC for transportation. Get a clue. Pigs get fat. Hogs get slaughtered. I needed a ride to LGB and Supershuttle was going to charge me $79, so I called LB Yellow Cab instead. I was able to make a reservation a couple of days in advance. The driver showed up right on time in a small van which was very neat and clean. The driver also was well groomed and professional. He got me to the airport in only 15 minutes for under $22. I was also surprised to learn that you can pay for the ride with a credit card. They have a card reader in the passenger area. When you swipe your card, it gives you three options for tipping at different percentages (15, 20, 25%), or you can enter a different amount. It was really convenient. Didn't realize I pre paid when I used the app (my fault). The cab driver accidentally charged me twice when we got there. (No problem) He felt bad and apologized for the double charge. Cab driver was very nice. Cab number 1291 - Awesome guy. I get back from my trip and around noon I call to get the second charge reversed. On hold with the accounts office for 30 mins with no answer, and for a bonus their automated system literally says this every 10 seconds - "for the operator press '0' or remain on the line." I get it. I'm on hold. The frustration - there is no indication where I am in the queue or how much longer I will be on hold. Second time I called around 4pm. I was on hold for an hour. Two days later I called in the morning around 10am. I was on hold for an hour and a half. Good lord. I had a meeting so I had to hang up. So, whether I called morning, noon, or night they were beyond maximum volume for receiving calls. The only other option is to call to order a taxi and beg them to help because they actually pick up the phone. The supervisor here is a nice enough guy for sure, but there is nothing, nothing, nothing he can do besides take your info and give you a phone number to an accounts person whose line goes directly to voicemail without even saying their name and who is apparently always out of the office. Again - Everyone I actually spoke with was totally cool. Ya just can't get ahold of the people who can do anything. I called this cab service for pickup service from a salon in a nearby shopping center to the airport, and when I called, I was quoted a 15 minute wait time. That was fine with me since my nails still needed to dry, so I thanked the dispatcher and took a seat at the UV nail dryer. Just as I'd gotten myself situated, a cab pulled up to the front of the salon. It had probably been no more than five minutes after I'd gotten off the phone so I was pleasantly surprised - but that meant I had to scramble to get my shit together. So in tow I had: - one rollaway luggage - one satchel handbag - one booster seat - one 5-year-old, fortunately capable of carrying his own little rollaway - two teddy bears - 20 freshly polished digits Don't know how I did it, but I managed to get everything hustled out the door without ruining my mani. I basically dragged everything out to the sidewalk in front of the establishment (and the obviously curious patrons), where they had a clear view of me having to haul everything towards the car (including my son), one hand at a time. The only point at which our driver got out to help us was when I knocked on the window and gestured towards the trunk, which despite being in clear view of me, he neglected to open (guess he was too busy texting or something). I frequently fly into LGB from PDX to visit my grandmother who doesn't drive. I am ever amazed at how the drivers not only don't seem to know their way around town (she lives just a mile from the airport) but they don't even seem to know how to use their GPS devices. Ive visited dozens of times and let this annoyance go but today I missed my flight and it was apparent the taxi was so late because he got lost getting to her house. I have never had such terrible experiences in my own town or others I travel to. I do hope service improves with the help of constructive criticism such as mine. read more

He asked me to put the address in his phone, and then ignored the instructions. A 10 minute drive took 40 minutes. He was stopping and turning around and I was so upset. The Long Beach Yellow Cab claims to have wheelchair accessible vans but when I called for a ride to the VA I had to wait for 2 hours because I'm in a wheelchair and they did not have any ramp access vans available. I called back a few times and spoke to a supervisor who assured me I did not have to wait at curbside and I double-checked that his computer was showing the correct telephone number for me. And I waited by the phone. I called back a few times to see if there was an ETA yet and then an automated computer voice tells me a driver had been assigned and was 0.1 miles away from my address, so I headed downstairs to be there when he pulled up. Before I could even get out the front door I saw the taxi pulling away and leaving already. So I instantly got the taxi company on the phone and asked that the driver be sent back. I was told he was already on another call because I was a no-show. The truth was, the driver never even got out of the taxicab van. He didn't honk the horn, I had no way of knowing he was there, I only knew he was because I saw him leaving without me. But the taxicab company told me it was my fault because the driver is not required to get out of the car, company policy. This, even though all of the different dispatchers and supervisors I spoke to while I was waiting for the taxi to arrive, knew I was in a wheelchair in an upstairs apartment and had been waiting for 2 hours. So... when I asked how long I would have to wait for another cab, I was told there were no wheelchair vans available. Apparently there's only the one, and that guy doesn't like waiting if the wheelchair is too slow getting to the curb, cuz he's not even gonna open his door I guess. read more

Then when you call, they'll have an attitude and tell you that they don't guarantee pick up times. So why in the hell does the reservation need to booked in advance if not to have a cab available?! Great service! I have used them twice in the last week and they are quick.. Right on time when I scheduled a pick up online, and only a 5 minute wait time for an unexpected trip that popped up. They also text you when the taxi dispatches and lets you know what cab # to expect. They take credit/debit so that's also very convenient. And they keep their cars very clean. I don't understand how they got their licence to operate. This was the worst service I ever received in any filed. No stars would be proper rating! First, they were late 20 minutes, without even bothering to call me and inform that they were going to be late. When finally arrived, the driver didn't even bother to apologize for being that late! Today I was leaving the store and was walking to my car that was parked on the street. When a yellow cab from this company pulled up behind me and started honking to make me move. I got into my car and when i didnt pull out fast enough the taxi driver pulled up behing my car and blocked me in. I got out of the car to get his taxi number and he asked what the problem was. I told him he blocked me in and i couldnt get out. He said " I wanted you to leave but you didnt move so now you have to wait". (I didnt know the world revolved around him and im supposed to move my parked car somewhere else when I see him coming.) So afterwards I called the company at (562) 444-4444 to report him. When they answered I explaind why I was calling and they told me I needed to call the main office anf gave me a phone number (562) 448-2146. The phone number actually belongs to an independent taxi driver. (Really nice guy) So I was not disrespected by just the driver but by the company as well. On Thursday, June 7, 2018, is I met with some long-time friends after their oldest son graduated from Long Beach City College. We had dinner at the HomeTown Buffet in Lakewood. His mother is in a motorized wheelchair as she has spinal muscular atrophy. After we walked outside where his father proceeded to call the Long Beach Yellow Cab for a wheelchair accessible van. The operator said there were none available at the moment and could not give him an estimate of an available time. When he asked to speak he speak to a supervisor it took her 10 minutes to find her words to tell him she needed permission to let him speak to a supervisor. Permission from whom? A supervisor? Well, I called Long Beach Yellow Cab while he was on the phone and placed this same standing order. Now we have two orders for a wheelchair accessible van for a customer that is unable to transfer out of her chair to ride in the seat of a vehicle. My friend's husband finally speaks to the supervisor who tells him the same thing. There are no accessible vans available at the moment. He takes my friend's husband's phone number and tells him to call back in 20 minutes to check to see if the order is still active and if the van has become available yet. So 20 minutes go by. I call and check to see if my order is still active, which it is, but no van is available. My friend's husband calls. His order is still active. The van is still unavailable. As soon as he hangs up from that call. The supervisor from Long Beach Yellow Cab calls him and says, "I'm sorry sir, the driver of our accessibles van clocked out for the not. " my friend's husband asks, "Well, how am I supposed to get from Lakewood to Long Beach?" The supervisor says, "I don't know. I'm sorry sir. Have a good night. ". I think something should be done about this. This poor man with his terrible anxiety, bad back, limited vision and this frail woman in her wheelchair with her many medical conditions and need of portable oxygen and intolerance to cold were stranded by Long Beach Yellow Cab. If it weren't for their son and his friends getting them to the bus stop to catch the 10:45 111 bus, they would not have gotten back to their motel Her poor husband having to push her from the bus stop off Lakewood Blvd just before Outer Circle to the Super 8 Motel in the dark at 11:00 at night in the cold with with potholes in the streets with his limited vision was absolutely inexcusable. I am legally blind myself. I used to live in that area so I know how bad the streets and sidewalks are down there. It's not like we called for the cab at 11:00 at night. We first called at 9:15 p.m. They gave us the run around for an hour and then said he clocked out for the night knowing we were waiting there all that time. read more

I have used lb yellow cabs for over 10 yrs but today was my last ride. Not only did the man driving charge me 2x for same trip but when I called bank on speaker phone so he could hear that it was indeed double charged (and double tipped) he started to yell at me. I proceeded to exit the cab and walk to my door he was shouting to the point I had to walk back to the car and tell him not to scream in front of my house. Why pay more than uber or yelp and get terrible service? Again 10 yrs not all rides have been great but this was wrong and If you get driver 1263 dont pay credit he probably gets a few people a day who dont notice short trips. I will not use Long Beach Yellow Cab ever again. Thank goodness for Uber and Lyft since LBYC has had a monopoly on cab service in LBC for decades. I called for a cab to take my husband and I to the airport to catch a flight to Seattle. We waited 20-30 minutes and nothing. I called back and was told they don't have anyone in the area. I told them we were going to the airport and needed to get there in time. Oh! In that case, they'll find someone. Another 20 minutes and they then tell me someone is on the way. We go outside to wait with our luggage and finally see the taxi coming slowly down the street. He's hugging the curb and only veering away to go around parked cars. He's inching along at below 5 mph. He keeps stopping, presumably to read the addresses. I'm standing in the street, waving at him! Finally - he arrives at our house. The nice Lebanese fellow gets out and starts on about how nice the neighborhood is and he's surprised because the dispatcher told him to be careful because it's a bad neighborhood! I am really pissed that they would say that. Not all of north LB is bad - there are many nice, quiet family neighborhoods - including ours. So the driver was very nice but he was the worst driver I have ever seen! He was all over the road, going very slow and then suddenly speeding up and then slamming on the brakes. It was crazy! I was clutching my husband's hand in terror. When we were going down Lakewood blvd in rush hour traffic, he stopped the car in the middle lane and asked us where the airport is! I told my husband to give him a good tip because I didn't think he'd make it in this business. Anyways, if LBYC doesn't want to service North Long Beach - fine. Last month we were in Long Beach for a party on the Queen Mary. We took a Yellow cab from our hotel to the ship and had a very enjoyable ride, The driver was a retired military man and he was polite, informative and drove safely. However, when we took a Yellow cab back to our hotel, it was a different story. The driver was not friendly, was almost rude. He drove 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. He hit a speed bump that jerked us all. He made and received several phone calls while weaving in and out of traffic. He spoke in a foreign language on his phone calls. My E-Mail to Yellow Cab: On 3/21/15, we were attending a function at the Maya Hotel in Long Beach. Around 10:00 pm we asked the front desk to call a cab for us, they gave you our name (Rick) and was told a cab would be there for us between 5-10 minutes. We waited outside the lobby and as each cab came, there wasn't one for "Rick." After a very long wait and after everyone else got their cab, the hotel and I called you asking where our cab was. We were told "Rick" was picked up. I said, "How could we have been picked up when we are still here?" It seems the cab driver that was assigned to us took some other people. I went up to one cab who said he was there for Ish but if we wanted to hop in he would take us. You told us the drivers are trained not to take anyone other than whom they were assigned to be picked up. As I mentioned, I went to each cab and none were for "Rick." We have lived in LB since 81 and have taken cabs many times and never had a problem like this. We were finally assigned another cab and after an hour from our initial call we finally made it home (Long Beach). We have other options to choose from (Lyft, Uber, etc..) and with this experience we may re-think taking yellow cab again. My question is...what the hell is the matter with these drivers? Why would they pick up a fare that was not assigned to their car? Don't they realize they are leaving people high and dry? It has taken me this long to write this but as you can see I am still upset about the whole experience. Being retired, at night and left high and dry by Yellow Cab does not say much about your customer service and your drivers. I would like to receive a response from you regarding this and from what I understand (heard), had the original driver picked us up versus another passenger (again...WE WERE THERE), we would not have hit the late fare addition. NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE IF OR WHEN YOU ARRIVE. First let me say that if it were possible I would have given this company a 0. Yesterday 4/12/15 was my sister's wedding. it was set to be a beautiful day and a beautiful event. I called Long Beach Yellow Cab 2 weeks before the event to reserve a wheelchair accessible van so that my mom could be a part of her daughter's big day. I was told I couldn't reserve more than a week in advance. One week before the wedding I made reservations to get my mom to and from the wedding. The taxi that pick my mom up was pretty much on time and the driver was very nice . My mom was scheduled to be picked up at 9:00 pm to return home and was beginning to show signs of exhaustion around that time. We were told that there was no way to guarantee the time so we give some leeway. At approximate 9:40 pm I gave a call the company to verify that we hadn't missed the cab and that they were still coming. I was told that the order hadn't been assigned yet but that they would let the driver know to call my number when they were outside. In the meantime my mom is fading fast but we wait. End leg one of the Taxi drama. At approximated 10:23 pm I received a call from a dispatcher asking if my mom was still at the wedding location waiting to be picked up. I let them know that she was indeed waiting and that she requires total care so I would like to know an estimate of time before she will be picked up. Please note we had reserved the wedding venue until 11:00 pm and the staff had begun clean up and the entire area other than the building we were in was pitch black. The dispatcher responded that he could not guarantee a time but the would send someone once someone is available. In the meantime he would continue to call back to ensure that my mom was still waiting. This set off a red flag for me so I again asked for clarification on an approximate wait time keeping in mind that I know the timing is flexible The dispatcher then told me that he felt that I was pressuring him to give a guarantee and he couldn't do that. I responded that I understood that he could guarantee a time but that he should be able to guarantee that a pick up was coming. He again told be that I was pressuring him and that the dispatchers would keep calling back to see if see was still waiting. at which point I needed to stop talking to him. I began to call other companies without much hope since wheel chair vans usually have to be reserved in advance and this was the case. I called multiple taxi and transporting services and as expected was told that they couldn't provide a vehicle on such short notice. I called what I thought were other Yellow cab company's since the have different names and was told that they could se my order but they had no one available. While I was doing all this my sister, the bride and my brother in law have been seeking an alternative solution. The only thing that anyone could come up with was for several people to push,pull and drag my mom into my sister's vehicle. So the newlyweds and other relatives caravan to my mom's house where they all had to work to get her back into the house. Long Beach Yellow cab turned what should have been a happy an enjoyable occasion into a nightmare. The icing on the cake was that they called me at 12:45 am to ask if my mom was still waiting for her scheduled 9:00 pm pickup. I explained that I followed their advice and found another way. Just wanted a cab. Looked up the number for LB Yellow Cab (1-855-305-9978) and got a message that number was just for testing. OK then why put it out there? Then I called the next number (1-877-449-4313) which is an automated number, I followed the prompts by responding verbally and each time it made me respond again by pushing a 1 or 2. I gave it my location which it repeated and I requested an immediate ride. It instructs me to wait outside the LB airport terminal that I want to be picked up from. I'm nowhere near the airport! Hung up and tried again so I could verify if I was being picked up or not. Discovered the "automated" system doesn't appear to have access to an actual human being but it would allow me to verify if my ride was coming. It wasn't able to verify my location so no ride. Gave up and tried the next numbers (1-562-444-4444) and (1-844-873-0463) which both take you back to the same malfunctioning idiotic "automated" system. How do you stay in business? You have to be loosing 50 to 60 percent of potential customers because they can't reach you. When I mentioned this to some co workers they told me this has been the situation for years which is why they use uber in long beach. At least you can get in contact with them.
