Dr. Le was recommended to me by my regular dentist as I was having a sore tooth and would probably need a root canal. Like most people, a root canal isn't a procedure most look forward to. I went to the office and was greeted by the office staff who were very courteous. I was handed a lot of papers to fill out. After waiting a few more minutes, the dental tech came and we exchanged small chit chat. She then escorted me to the exam room. Dr. Le then came in and asked what the problem was. After I shared with him about my sore tooth, he asked if I wanted the root canal right then. I was very surprised and said "yes." He took x-rays and proceeded with the root canal. Well, my experience with Dr. Le and his technician were most favorable. The two of them worked like professionals. There was very little or no conversation and each knew their role. Dr. Le had my kind of music playing (60s and 70s) and every once in a while, Dr. Le would sing along. As I stated before, a root canal isn't the most pleasant of procedures, but Dr. Le made sure that I was comfortable and in a way...I guess I was. I had plenty of "numbing" shots and didn't feel a thing. The day after the root canal, Dr Le himself called me to see how I was doing. I was doing well. No pain. Usually an office staff person calls. This was hands down the most awful experience I have ever had with a medical provider. I was about 5 minutes late to my appointment due to a mass weather emergency in the area ( snow in the San Diego county area) snow in this area is unheard of so naturally the roads were packed. I had called the office informing them of my tardiness in which they informed me and encouraged me to still come in despite my delay. When I arrived I experienced a lot of passive aggression due to my tardiness in which the dentist replied " why would you even put yourself in this situation - you have to be on time " -- again I was completely fine with canceling my appointment due to my tardiness as a medical provider myself I understand the strain tardiness can put on scheduling . While I'm the chair when we began the numbing process my body began to react negatively to the lidocaine and my heart rate shot up to 149 ( resting) I know this because I have my Apple Watch on which measures my Heart rate. I have had a lot of dental work done and have no fear of needles so the increased heart rate wasn't due to anxiety. I kindly asked to take a second to allow me to breathe because my heart was beating so fast in which he said " you were already late and you want me to stop?! " angrily and passive aggressively. I felt like I was going to pass out and he still insisted to continue the treatment which could have resulted in me potentially having a heart attack or passing out which was such a great risk to my health and overall patients health. Not at any point which would have been the proper practice did he take my blood pressure. He is a danger to patients. Additionally , when I refused treatment from him after him making me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe due to his passive aggression , lack of care for the increased heart rate I was experiencing I stopped the appointment as I did not feel comfortable receiving services from him because he clearly did not have my best interest for my tooth and overall health in mind HE FRAUDULENTLY charged me a $125 cancellation fee!!! FOR AN APPOINTMENT I SHOWED UP TO but unfortunately felt unsafe and not confident in his expertise and his terrible chair side manner there was no possible way I would have felt comfortable allowing him to drill through my mouth due to his passive aggression and his rush and him insisting to continue treatment despite the reaction I was having to the numbing medication. He is charging ME for his SHORTCOMINGS - inability to make patients feel safe and cared for. Thankfully over the circumstances my bank gladly disputed the cancellation fee and I got my $125 back from bank as they saw the charge was from a swipes card in the office and he could not legally charge me for a canceled appointment that I showed up to!! Additionally he is a danger to patients over all well being and should lose his contract as he could have potentially killed me in the process of treatment . Please avoid him at all cost. I filed a grievance with United Concordia as well because he should not be allowed to service military members and family members as he is a sincere danger to all. Also reported him to the board of dentistry because he literally could have killed me due to his rush **** update!!! He then proceeded to call & harass me 4 times as I continued to decline his calls as I had no interest in talking to him post appointment as I was no longer a patient he had no reason to be contacting me after the appointment . After the 4th try he left a threatening message THREATENING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST ME FOR SLANDER. ( transcript below of Voicemail received) For someone who didn't have enough time and was rushing me through my appointment he sure does have time to harass people who refuses his services and had time to threaten his patients and apparently sue them over false pretenses on his behalf If you've made it this far and wondering how it could've possibly gotten worse we are in the same boat. Just had my root canal (first at age 60) and I had to write a review because I saw some what I feel to be undeserved low star reviews. First he is a specialist and many reviews relate to funds or referrals. I used to be in finance for hospitals and one thing I know - you have to be your OWN advocate for your insurance and any referrals, etc. Having an excellent clinician is the best thing. And I found Dr Le to be really funny and had a great "chairside" manner and awesome music (how can you go wrong listening to Freddie Mercury and Bohemian Rhapsody with your doc singing along?) He did a great job although my jaw is so sore (but that is part of it so no a complaint on office). I would recommend them very highly on all points. Thanks to the doc and the staff! read more

Not a fan! Left my incomplete root canal (due to finding the tooth will need to be pulled) so sharp that it cut my tongue and left me in so much discomfort. You would think this would be common sense after being in practice for so long. I'm obviously numb when I leave so have no clue that every time I move my mouth it's cutting deeper into my tongue causing a bigger cut. Now it's painful to eat and drink with an open sore in my mouth. Literally had to file my sharp tooth down at home to prevent it from cutting my tongue further. No help at all. Doesn't really have the best interest of the patient. I understand this is how he makes a living but is definitely just trying to milk your insurance. Dr long insisted on a root canal that had very little chance of success. After a second opinion I received a much better option that did not drain my insurance. Also has a cancellation fee that they will harass you over $125. I work in the service industry that deals with house calls/appointments and we understand emergencies happen and would never even think of charging a cancellation fee. Had a root canal done this morning and it went great! First time having anything done in this office. My dentist refers out for more major dental work and this was the number one place they referred me to! I've had bad experiences with dental work at my previous dentist, college dental, but this was totally pain free! Dr long is awesome! I had an urgent apt to see him since I was in pain and needing a root canal. Being that I just had work done at my dentist on two teeth right next to each other, dr long did some testing to see which one was the culprit, and found the one causing me pain. He could of easily said I needed both done and made way more money because hard to tell with the pain radiating in such close proximity. I really appreciate his honesty and caring nature. Also, my insurance didn't send over all the proper information to quote me and he said he wanted to wait to do the work until he had all the information that way he could properly charge me with no surprises later if my insurance didn't cover the treatment. I respected him for that because again he could have easily just do the work and whatever my insurance didn't cover then I would be on the hook to pay. Lastly, I was leaving for vacation the next day and dr long patched up my crown real quick to help prevent pain since he noticed an area where my tooth was exposed near the gum line to reduce pain . Also, he gave me antibiotics to help until we can get the root canal done. During the apt, he took the time to explain everything to me, and I appreciated it. Trust is very important to me since I have been burned before with bogus charges from dentists (double charging, charging for the most expensive crowns, etc) and I can truly say I was beyond pleased with my treatment. I agree with the reviewer that stated, "Dr Le looks at your tooth through a microscope." He is very detailed in his evaluation of the work that needed/or not needed on your tooth or teeth. He also takes a lot of pictures during the procedure to share with his patients to help them understand what he is doing. My general dentist set an appointment here for me to get a second opinion on a root canal that was performed elsewhere. Dr. Lee's office was unprepared and waited until I was there to let me know they hadn't received my referral and authorization, or to call my office back and get it. When I asked how long it would be while they were calling and informed them I had another appointment to be at, they responded very rudely - saying their concern only for the insurance process and how it could take all day. I couldn't help but think, why would you wait until I arrived and not call me to reschedule or check back in with my referring office? It was easily done after I quickly called in to my regular office! However, and this is why I'm writing this review; in the time I was doing so the admin in charge complained to doctor and said he was refusing my referral! Shocked at the way this was handled and the immaturity of staff. They were disrespectful of my time and treated situation very negatively. And to be honest I don't think the Dr. behaved very professionally in allowing them this much authority when they are not being professional or considerate of other people's time or health needs. I wouldn't go to anyone else to get a root canal. Dr. Long is a bad ass when it comes to this. My procedure with tricky, curved roots took less than an hour for him, whereas I know it would've taken twice as long (at least), elsewhere. His staff was also very courteous and helpful. I will have to 2nd this other review -- I am in a course of treatment with Dr Le for a complicated issue - and even though I had to drive out of my way to see him, based on what I heard, I wanted to use him for my two failed root canals. He is conservative in approach, seems to really know his stuff, and he tells you the truth and what he can do and can't, and is approachable in manner and communicates fully. read more

Find another Endo, no seriously. He is not helpful, and makes you feel terribly uncomfortable during such a painful procedure. I was SO sore and in agony so I went back for him to take a look a few hours after my procedure in hesitation. He told me he couldn't just snap his fingers and take the pain away (he seriously said that) I am not a five year old and have a common sense, I couldn't believe the unprofessionalism and disturbing behavior. I was sent on a referral by Dr Ed Farajedeh, Del Mar Professional, needing 3 root canals, so he could put crowns on them. Root canals=$950 x 3, and crowns=$620. x 3. When I arrived to see Dr. Le, he told me there was no need for 3 root canals. He suggested I see a gum specialist and probably have the 3 teeth in the back extracted with an implant if I chose, but wasn't necessary. Dr Le could have continued on with the root canals and sent me back to Dr F. for 3 crowns. But no! He was honest with me. He wasn't going to do work (and make big $) that wasn't in my best interest. I appreciate Dr Le's candor. Definitely give him 5 stars. read more

The man is a miracle worker. I have had at least 7 or 8 root canals. 3 of them had to be redone - so I was sent to Dr. Le by a general dentist. Well, thank GOD I found this man. He is wonderful. He knows what he is doing. His office is small and not particularly fancy. His office staff is pleasant and they are on TOP of insurance issues - they start getting approval the minute you call for an appointment and have everything ready for you. They calculate the bill and your share ACCURATELY and FAIRLY ahead of time and let you know what it is. You pay right there. It is always LESS money than you think it will be. Lots of dentist upsell you or sell you stuff you don't need or B.S. you. Dr Le is straight with you. If he says 50% chance he can save you tooth, he means it - I appreciate that. If he says, "I fixed it" - he DID it. He sings to you while he works along with the radio. He looks at your tooth through a microscope. He pulled files out of my teeth that were left in from previous root canals, he filled crooked roots on teeth that were damaged due to trauma. The man is a miracle worker. And did I mention it is painfree, affordable and straightforward. That's right, no surprises. You pay there, you leave. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BILL FROM THIS MAN, not even one that says, "waiting for insurance". He fixes it - you pay a reasonable fee - he does an awesome job - you leave. I wish there were more than 5 stars to give and I wish this guy did general dentistry as well. I don't really like my general dentist - he is one of the clowns who broke off a file in my gum - so I'd like to find another but there are so many shysters out there. I hate dentists, but if Dr. Le is any example, I just LOVE endodontists. Oh and every single time he has called afterwards to see how I am. Not his office staff - HIM. And the one time I said, "Not so good, it's tender and hurts a lot" - he called in antibiotics and told me to come in first thing in the morning - he squeezed me in last minute when I developed an abcess after root canal. For the following root canal, he gave me antibiotics to take "just in case" given my history. He cared. I can safely say I love this man back (in a platonic way!) All I can say is I was dreading my first root canal, and he was very nice, professional, honest, helpful, quick, and incredibly thorough! I hardly felt a thing, (save the injection pinch for Novocaine) He was very fair priced too. (he made sure to take x-rays, before, during, and after the procedure, showed concern for me while he was working, and my comfort, and when I asked him questions - before the procedure, I can tell he answered very honestly.) I couldn't have asked for better! I cannot say enough good things about them, which is really funny, because I never thought I would ever feel this way about someone who did root canals. My husband went to Dr Le for a consultation for a possible root canal. He was examined and Dr explained the options. Several years ago my husband had chemo and radiation treatments for cancer and developed constant jerking that he cannot control. I attend all his appointments and was with him when Dr. Le went over the options. His twitching/jerking was evident but Dr. Le never mentioned it as a possible problem. We scheduled the root canal for the next week and Biil went in as scheduled. After drilling on his tooth for 25 minutes, and leaving a hole in the existing gold crown, Dr. Le asked my husband to leave the chair and his office. He said he could not finish the procedure because he (Bill) could not sit still. He suggested that he go to his regular dentist and have the tooth pulled. Needless to say, Bill was upset. Dr Le never offered any type of sedation or any alternative or any referral to another professional. I spent the next day searching for an endodontist who would be able to complete the procedure as well as take our insurance. I found a very caring dentist in Carlsbad - Dr. Amanda Mercer - She met with us and suggested that we remove the crown to see if the tooth first could be saved by a root canal. This made sense. She removed the existing cap and was able to verify it could be saved. She then prepared the tooth for a replacement crown which was made right in the office on a 3 d printer!). Bill returned the next day for the root canal. He was sedated, the procedure preformed successfully, the crown was put in place and he was done within 2 hours! Dr. Le is an excellent Endodontist. He did a root canal and I can honestly say it was painless. I hate needles but didn't have any pain. Only two sticks and those didn't hurt at all. Haven't experienced any pain since the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Le. He also called the following day to check if I was ok. Dr. Le is a first-rate endodontist who took the fear out of the words "root canal" for me and relieved my horrible pain. I was referred to him after learning that I needed more than a crown to fix a tooth that had me agonizing for several days. Not only was Dr. Le able to accommodate me on a Saturday, but he was also able to keep me calm and reassured by talking me through the process one step at a time. Because I had only experience one root canal in my life many years ago, I was admittedly scared, but even the biggest of chickens would have been comfortable in his care! He does the job right without an ounce of BS, quickly and at a fair price. He accommodated me and a few others on a Saturday trying to help us out before everyone closes up for the holidays which was really awesome and unexpected. Just don't expect to be coddled and asked if you want a hot towel during the procedure - he's got music blaring, he's singing along and he's gonna remind you to open your mouth wider a lot. Make his life easier by shutting up and sitting still and you'll be out quick. To me, any inconvenience caused by the procedure is offset by the immediate pain relief of getting it done. Doctor Le was competant and professional but a bit impersonal and oblivioius to the pain of the procedure and my reaction to it. My root canal is fine, but during the process (during which you absolutely cannot speak,) he never ONCE asked how I was doing or reassured me when the going was rough..... Instead he admonished me for physically jerking when several really sharp pains occured. (Really? Like I could control the response or was just jerking for fun?) He carried on rather personal conversation with the assistant during the ENTIRE procedure, as If I were not in the chair at all. I could have been a potted plant. It was a surprisingly "dehumanizing" experience. That said, he got me in quickly, relieved my pain and advised me on insurance matters. He is obviously good at root canals, but it seems he's rather bored with it all. Before getting started, instead of coaching his patient through a traumatizing procedure and what to expect, he gave me a small "handout" to read while he left the room. ( Huh? ) It may be an everyday thing for him and his staff, but for most of us it is not, and a bit of empathy and encouragement was certainly called for and would have been really helpful.
