update: i just received a response from this "vet group" on yelp to my previous review. literally 6 days after calling every day, being put on hold for 45 minutes at a time, playing "ring" around the rosey with anyone willing to pick up the phone. i'm not sorry. i will never be sorry. if anything i am now a sincere animal lover/activist. i was before and now i am more than ever. i am actually thankful i heard the horror stories from personal resources before i left him under this clinic's care!!!!!!!!! i am still sick to my core. my dog is a mix who would have be murdered if i didn't rescue him (again.) the fact is if you *have* to comment back on my honest and true review to "defend" your "team" is disgusting. why are you defending your staff and clinic on yelp at all? why are you defensive?? why? the records don't match what i stated honestly because they have actual bold face lies on them. the "doctor" kept telling me about antinausea. my release forms state that "rockys owner refused anti diarrhea." never once did doctor karapet -- if thats even her real name -- state anything ever about anti diarrhea. she insisted on anti nausea bc i stated stupidly that rocky threw up one time. once. all of a sudden you are writing on his release form that i refused that? you never said that. you actually stated verbatum that you recommend an abdominal scan, dr karapet, in case of a blockage. really????? blockages cause vomitting. i'm not stupid. this is your excuse to charge me a bazillion dollars for nothing. nothing. your team did nothing. you never called me back. you never emailed me documents as promised. you never once told me the actual truth. the documents i have are all incorrect. they couldn't even correctly enter my zip code. then i tried to tell them who my real vet was. they said they never heard of the animal hospital. ever?? really? my vet said they recommend animals to you all the time in case of an emergency. i told my vet to never ever recommend you at all. why? because you are **animal abusers.** should be ashamed of yourself. especial dominic marino. the owner of these lying theives "vets" "vet assistants" "operations" "hr team" "billing department" etc. dominic marino (the owner who sold this decent vet group to investors who own chain "restaurants" like krispy kreme): sincerely hope it is great being a theif. i hope the fancy cars, your boats, whatever mansion you live in is worth it. worth the actual mental distress your causing to these poor animals and by collateral damage theirs owners. horrible. also special shout out to whoever answers the phone named angelina: screaming at a distressed, crying, upset client and pet owner at a very high noise level should feel pretty good. hanging up on you was the best thing i did that day. angelina, your reputation will be ruined if you keep up this type of customer service. your name is in my memory because of how horrible you spoke to me. it was truly maddening and disappointing. i hope it helped you release some anger. if you keep doing this to paying clients, you'll never find a job again. this sad excuse of a veterinary grop will shut down. seriously, if anyone reading this ask for angelina she is (sarcastically) a true delight. you were my favorite person to hang up on through my phone. you all should be sick to your core for what you do. every day. every moment. on a regular basis. your parking lot aka waiting room gave me the worst gut feeling. it felt like a pet cemetary. everywhere i looked someone was cyring or sad or hurting. i hope you enjoy wherever life takes all of you. hope its a nice view wherever every single person employed here goes. don't care where. gross. sick. messed up. i hope to hear about your many many civil law suits soon. good luck team "livs". you are gonna need it. by the way: quick update ---- to this day i have not received a single penny of my "promised" refund. hey, you're the billing department lady "lexi whatever": if you're reading, i know you have a billing department after i called anonymously refusing to give any information. the same girl who stupidly answered my last and final call to you told me. now i know you record all of your incoming and outgoing phone calls. thank you. thats all i needed to know. i hope bankruptcy feels amazing. your sure know how to cause bankruptcy from what i can tell. personally and through the many many many many social media outlets as well as personal references. also, if anyone is curious my puppy is alive, well, and thriving. no thanks to anyone remotely related to your lives entire team. final conclusion: a very upset stomach. explosive diarrhea has now subsided. he also developed random cuts & bruises after last week tuesday. mysterious? or coincidental? thanks for nothing except the big fat bill of close to $1000. :) read more

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET and want the best for them...FIND ANOTHER SPECIALIST!! You will wait for hours on end and then be given the run around. This particular story costed me about $700.00 and I don't know if I should trust their test results. There is even more to this story..but I ran out of space... This Facility is absent of COMMUNICATION , EFFICIENCY, ORGANIZATION and most of all COMPASSION! If you care to read on here goes:-- A kitten was left at my doorstep when she was about 3 weeks old, We think she was abandoned by her mother . Now she is about 8 months old (4lbs) and had started to limp after I had her spayed .So I brought her to this facility (It was a Thursday, tomorrow will be 2 weeks)at my vets suggestion, and I was told that she needs an omega fatty acid spray to help with joint inflammation caused by lack of calcium. I asked for the medicine, but they told me to just pick it up later on that evening since I had to leave the cat there, so they could run a few tests(Which by the way,if they had any common sense they wold have informed me first the the kitten needed to fast for 12 hours! -ergo 60 mi. round trip) I asked the girl at the front desk to please make a note that this medicine be given to my husband when he picks up the cat later on. I was told that a note was made and I was REASSURED that he would be given this spray. EFFICIENCY: (or lack there of) He came home empty handed! I immediately called and was told that I could not speak to anyone because ONLY Dr. Marino was familiar with this case. But I called again the next day and spoke with ANOTHER Dr.and he REASSURED me that he would send it out Fedex and that I would get it the next day (Saturday) but if not definitely on Monday. By Tues. I called back and was told that it was, inadvertently , sent out regular mail. ORGANIZATION: I continued to call SEVERAL TIMES, spoke with OTHER Drs, But I Wanted to speak to MY DOCTOR (Marino) on the phone ...but those at the "front line" either never gave him the message or he just didn't care to call me back?! Or maybe THEY didn't want me to speak with him....it was like a frustrating guessing game - On Wednesday I called back to leave another message for Dr. Marino knowing that he is only in on TUES and Thurs. The girl told me he WAS in that day but only for surgery not to see patients. I said I wanted to leave ANOTHER message specifically for him. She put me on hold , and when she came back on said he WAS NOT in today. So I said "well which is it? Is he in or not?" and she said he's not in. - I got no explanation as to why she told me he was in in the first place! COMPASSION: One of the doctors I spoke with said "well, if it's any consolation....this medicine takes several weeks to kick in"!!!! Where's the consolation in that??? Now this poor kitten has to wait several more weeks until I get the medication! In speaking with the office manager, who was very kind and helpful (even though most of the damage was done) I was , once again, reassured that another bottle would be sent out fedex, and it was! But this is now 9 days after I had first brought her there. BTW, still never rec'd the 1st bottle that was sent out- (it is two weeks, but that is also the fault of the Garden City Post office as well as the inefficiencies of the staff ant LIVS!) And I'm still waiting to hear from Dr. Marino!- -Here is my 1st my first story, which goes back several years ago when I had to bring my dog in for a follow-up visit. She had cruciate ligament surgery and I was to have a follow-up appointment about a week later. After waiting two hours I left. It was ridiculous the amount of time I have spent sitting and waiting in that office is well. I told the staff at the hour and a half of Mark that I would only wait another half hour, so, I was put in what seemed like a holding cell small little room with the chair just to keep me quiet for the next half hour.At the 2 HOUR mark, I left. So to sum all of this up, if you love your pet and want the best for them.....I would advise to fine another vet specialist! - I rated 1 for Cleanliness. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Long Island Veterinary Specialists, and especially, Dr. Domenic Marino. My dog, Whiskey, had dislocated his hip (caused by both hip dysplasia -shallow socket - and a collision with one of my other dogs while running) and my regular vet said he would either need a FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) or a THR (Total Hip Replacement). He advised that I set up a consult with an orthopedic surgeon. (We first tried closed reduction, but it popped out again because of his shallow socket. ) My first consult was with a dr (not at LIVS) who only performed FHOs. After that first consult, I felt sure that the FHO was the way I should go, as that dr had led me to believe that the risks were greater with a THR. She also suggested that at my dog's age (3 years old), she would worry that he might need another THR in his lifetime. In addition, a vet who has a physical therapy practice had told me that the recovery period for a THR is very difficult and painful. I decided to keep my consult appointment with Dr. Marino at LIVS anyway, even though I was sure that nothing would change my mind. Well, I was wrong and I am SO glad that I investigated both surgery options. Dr. Marino was so wonderful in my consult. I came prepared with literally over 30 questions about the THR procedure including what are the risks, what are the statistics about each risk type, what action is taken if one of the risks occurs, how does recovery compare between THR and FHO, what are the advantages/disadvantages of each surgery, how does physical therapy compare, how many THRs has he done and what is the success rate, etc. I had so many questions that I doubted that Dr. Marino would have the time and patience to answer all my questions, but instead he said "That's what I'm here for." and he answered every question I had. I left the consult absolutely knowing that I was going to bring Whiskey to have the THR by Dr. Marino. Dr. Marino allayed my fears that were planted by the dr from my first FHO consult at the other vet hospital. He said that that every Board-certified surgeon knows that hip replacements last the lifetime of the dog. In the over 2000 THRs he did, he never had a dog return for a 2nd hip replacement over the dog's lifetime. He also said that the recovery is actually easier with a THR as compared to FHO and he said Whiskey would be comfortable rather than in great pain. Also, although I probably would have had to bring my dog for PT to a physical therapy facility had I gone with the FHO option, Dr. Marino said the PT after his THR should be leash-walks by me, increasing the length of walk over a period of time. (Taking him in and out of a car could even be risky following a THR surgery and PT with leash-walks is all that would be needed. In contrast, the best-case scenario after an FHO depends on PT at a facility based on research I had done. ) With those two worries out of my mind (i.e. a 2nd THR being needed and a very difficult recovery) and trusting my gut instinct, it made sense for me to choose the THR option, after which he said my dog would be able to rough-house with my other two dogs and run with no limitations after 4 months. Every single thing he said turned out to be true. I am so happy I made the decision to have a THR, since my dog is way too young and energetic a dog to have a limited range of motion that even the most successful FHO surgery would produce (at best, 70% range of motion, as opposed to 100% range of motion with a THR). The cost difference between a THR and an FHO surgery was about $3000. (However, since an FHO surgery probably would have required months of PT at a facility, the cost difference might be closer to $2000 or less. ) Thank God, I was able to afford this and that I was able to make the best decision for my dog. After only 4 months following surgery, Whiskey was running around the yard full speed having a ball with my other two dogs, rough-housing and just being the happiest dog! It is not even possible to tell he had a hip replacement. I also want to commend all of the staff at the front desk, the assistants, everyone, who I interacted with. Everyone was polite, professional and caring. In addition, the actual cost for the surgery and for the 3 month follow-up visit was, in each case, a little less than the estimates provided. There were no surprises/unexpected costs. I would recommend LIVS and, most especially, Dr. Marino, if you are in the unfortunate position of needing hip surgery for your dog. "At this time I am advising you to seek further medical assistance elsewhere, as it appears that I am not providing the insight / information you are requesting in a timely enough manner." - Good Doctor This in response to a solitary follow-up question originally sent on November 21, 2024, to radiographs@livs.org (more like no-reply@) and then again on November 25, 2024, to livs@livs.org. I am writing to formally address the serious concerns I have regarding the care and communication I received from Long Island Veterinary Specialists ("LIVS") prior to receiving the Good Doctor's most recent e-mail reply. Based on my experience, I find it necessary to state unequivocally that the behavior demonstrated by LIVS in this situation is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. While LIVS claims that sufficient information was provided and that all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction, this is far from the truth. In fact, the level of care and attention to detail I received falls well below the professional standards I expect from a veterinary practice. It is essential that all patients and their caregivers be treated with respect, fully informed about all aspects of medical care, and given a reasonable opportunity to ask questions and address concerns. Unfortunately, LIVS failed to meet these basic standards, and I will not overlook this serious lapse in communication and care. Again, LIVS's behavior in this matter is entirely unacceptable, and I want to make it clear that I will not tolerate this level of negligence or disregard for patient rights. As a result, I intend to take the following actions: I will be pursuing a dispute with my credit card company for the charges associated with this treatment. The lack of proper communication, the failure to adequately inform me of the risks, and the overall lack of transparency in the process are reasons enough for me to believe that I should not be financially liable for services rendered under these conditions. I will also be syndicating a detailed, honest, and negative review of my experience with LIVS (and the Good Doctor) on public platforms such as Google Reviews and professional organizations. It is important to hold healthcare providers accountable for their actions, or lack thereof, and I intend to share my experience so that other pet owners are aware of the communication and care deficiencies I encountered at LIVS. Transparency and respect for patient rights are fundamental, and I will not allow this behavior to go unchallenged. AVOID THIS VET AT ALL COSTS. THEY EFFECTIVELY KILL PETS BY PRESCRIBING UNNECESSARY, HARMFUL PROCEDURES TO RUN UP BILLS. ITS ALL ABOUT THEIR BOTTOM LINE. I have been a dog owner for decades and never seen such terrible behavior on the part of a vet. My pet was less than ten years old, healthy and seemed to have a single isolated issue which is typically easily treated. Their vets were dismissive about my assessment and decided to go ahead with procedures that left my pet cripped and suffering. Naturally they billed me thousands of dollars in the process. Some of their people in front were courteous but the criminal behavior but after the fact I couldn't get a doctor on the phone without threatening to sue. Since this happened I have requested copies of records and seen other victims problems with LIVS and Dominic Marino come up on the internet. Here is the sum total of their offenses: LIVS under the leadership of Dominic Marino, Long Island Veterinary Specialists has: -Crippled and effectively killed pets by prescribing and billing for unnecessary and harmful procedures in order to run up customer bills -Said they could solve problems to sell services and run up bills that clearly would not help the pets in their care -Been investigated for corruption while bidding for police contracts -Lied about who performs surgeries; Marino claims that he does it himself and offloads the work to residents but bills as if he is doing the work himself -Killed dogs to avoid having to show the results of botched minor surgeries to their owners -Bullied employees and residents with personal and legal threats to avoid negative reviews online -Fail to provide services such as overnight monitoring which people pay for regardless -Routinely have techs and relatives perform anesthesia, MRI, CT, and surgeries when they claim licensed vets are doing the work -Pulls and alters medical records in the face of investigations from the NYSED which is the licensing agency for veterinarians -Pays other veterinarians on commissions (no wonder they seem to have an incentive to run up bills, they do) -Uses mostly part time employees to avoid paying taxes and benefits -Dominic Marino has been sued by multiple former partners and employees and seems to be in lawsuits based on LIVS' conduct with multiple parties -Commonly prevents owners from seeing anything beyond the front area to keep people from seeing the squalid conditions of where their pets are being kept- they said pets would be kept in runs but they're really kept in tiny cages often in their own defecation -Clearly paid off Yelp and other companies to manage their social media and try to post articles on wikipeida/etc to make it seem like they are conducting groundbreaking research (see the wikipedia history for the wikipedia user who started the Long Island Veterinary Specialists wikipedia page, they also made a bunch of articles glorifying LIVS and Marino which have virtually all been deleted or reduced Marino's name to random footnotes This is sickening and emotionally draining to write out but people need to know why they need to avoid LIVS at all costs. Written by my 76 yr old mother. Whose beloved dog was in need of care. I am posting her review based on her most recent experience here. On 3/13/21, I took Sam for an emergency visit. He was under the care of Dr. Goodwin from LIVS who recommended that I take Sam to emergency. His breathing was erratic [24-35 per 30 seconds]. Dr. Goodwin said, I would be happy to conference with the doctors. When I arrived, I called but no one picked up the phone. Girls were coming in & out of the doors and over to cars. The girls said that they were busy & call the number posted outside. That was exactly the number I was calling. After 15 minutes, I got out of my car and banged on the door. The person inside and at the desk just ignored me. I started to scream that my dog will die in the car. I was very upset at this point. Doesn't anyone prioritize emergency cases. I continued to call & someone came for Sam. Dr. Adam called me & said Sam appears to be stable. His lungs sound clear. "So what's the problem. "He retches from the start & his breathing is erratic. His response was "He did this for 14 years." I told him to look at his records and his response was the records are too thick. I explained that Dr. Goodwin would be available to conference about Sam & his response was his lungs are clear. I informed him that Dr. Goodwin felt that liquid was present. He then took an x-ray. The girls came to my car to inform me that it would be several hours for the results. I left and after 2 hours and 30 minutes I returned. I called and was told that Sam was done but Dr. Adam was busy with another patient. I waited in my car another 45 minutes and asked to take Sam home & at that time my bill was paid & I wanted the results emailed to Dr. Goodwin. I was told that the Doctor would call me shortly. After 15 minutes, I called & wanted Sam now and said that I paid in full & they have no right to hold my dog. Sam was brought out with the message that the doctor would call. After another 20 minutes, Dr. Adam called and stated that the x-ray revealed liquid in Sam's stomach & little in lung. Dr. Adam made an adjustment of Sam's medication. LIVS has LOST ALL COMPASSION. IT HAS BECOME A MONEY MAKING FACTORY. I had for more than 18 years used LIVS for my pets as they aged, BUT NO MORE!!! I have found another 24 7 hospital and I am never looking back. The following doctors are associated with LIVS: Dr. Sapienza had done eye surgery on my dog when he was in private practice. I followed him to LIVS. In the past, Dr. Marino had operated on my schnauzer. I Dr. Tumulty took care of my cat. Everything was fine. I used them for acupuncture. I regret losing Dr. Goodwin who returned calls, showed concern, & compassion. I would give no stars if I could. Brought my cat in and got Dr Mak. I am so sorry I didn't walk out of there with my cat and she could still be alive today. I should have known when Mak carried her like a football and I had to yell at her to support her rear that she was no good. She told me to euthanize the cat that there was nothing to be done so I tearfully agreed. I had other cats euthanized and usually they just put the needle in the neck and the cat goes peacefully off. This woman sticks a huge device in my poor cat's FOOT and then inserts a needle and my cat actually jerked up with her eyes open before she died. She really hurt my cat and I will never forget that afterward this woman didn't even have the decency to walk away and leave me alone with my girl and actually says to me she wishes we could have met under better or different circumstances. Had absolutely no compassion and the way she carried my cat and killed her I don't even think she Likes them. The very worse part is later when I discussed with another vet and was talking to others that had the same thing with their cat- the medication she was on could have been causing the medical issue I brought her in for in the first place and there were different medications that they used which had a good recovery prognosis combined with other treatment so I let her kill a cat that could have been saved by a more knowledgeable vet who I wish I went to instead of this place that the first vet referred me too and was the vet that prescribed the wrong medication. A so called specialist should have known this. I thought that a specialist means they knew more than other vets or would take the time to consult other vets around the world or at least do a freaking google search - the vet of last resort - and here I find I let her put my cat down on her say so when regular vets would have done more to try and save her and besides that - she hurt my girl as she was taking her last breath. A horrifying experience that I hope nobody else will ever have to suffer - please don't go here thinking they are special cos they're not and whatever you do - don't let this vet anywhere near your cat. read more

I was fortunate to meet Dr Infernuso at Long Island Veterinary Specialists when I saw my 7 year old Yellow Lab "Parker" was limping on her right rear leg. Parker's regular vet was away so I immediately brought her to a few specialists in New Jersey and Manhattan where TPLO Surgery I was told was the only cure for a Cruciate Ligament Tear which Parker had . When I discussed this with Parker's regular Vet when he returned he felt that the TPLO surgery was very aggressive for Parker and he recommended me to LIVS for another opinion. Dr Infernuso consulted with us after examining Parker and patiently and thoroughly explained my options for surgery and recovery details for Parker. I decided to go with a traditional surgical repair which Dr. Infernuso performed since this was less aggressive in that it did not require any cutting of the bone. Dr. Infernuso kept me updated throughout the day on Parker's condition after the surgery and that entire day as she recovered. He continued to monitor her progress daily through her recovery period. He also guided us and monitored Parker through Physical Therapy and acupuncture which restored Parker to her active self in months. Now at 9 years of age I found a small growth on Parker's stomach which I immediately had Dr. Infernuso look at. He performed a needle biopsy and found that it was classified as a Mast Cell Tumor which can be quite dangerous. Dr. Infernuso performed surgery on Parker the next morning after hearing the results to completely remove the tumor and then guided me on a day to day basis as to what further treatment Parker then needed outside of the surgery to ensure the Mast Cell would have as low a chance as possible to return. I can't begin to tell you how important it was to be able to speak to Dr. Infernuso on a day to day basis with so many important and difficult decisions to be made for Parker's health. He was always there to take the time to answer and explain any question or address any concern I had. He is the very best. read more

Don't take your pets for anything here , inexperienced Veterinarians. They don't know what they are doing they will just kill your pets with their carelessness and half knowledge. My pet was joined as inpatient on 13th December, he is only 4 years old pug diagnosed for diabetes, they called me next day and said his blood sugar levels are under control . They updated me everyday that he is doing ok . He was supposed to discharge on 17 th . They kept him until 17th , thats when they suddenly called and told me he is in critical condition, they wanna keep him for another 4 days . I said ok we went there to pay the bills . After paying the bills they they allowed me to see my pet . They dint allow all these day to see him . All of a sudden they wanna show my pet to me . When I saw him my heart broke , he was torched his front both legs were punctured bruises all around his legs , they have spoiled all his four legs he couldn't get up and stand at all. After we left from there I asked for all his reports what they did so far to show them to another doctor I said . They sent me the reports , I showed the reports to my pets primary vet told me that they are not doing the right thing for him it's poor thing that he is suffering with them like this . He should have got antibiotics done but treatment plan don't have antibiotics in it at all . And lot of things they dint do to treat him . They dint treat him at all . This is one of biggest fraud violent and rude peoples hospital . They haven't done the ultrasound until I asked for . On 17th they have done ultrasound. If you care for your pets please do not take your pets to this hospital. On 17th they killed my pet finally the same day when I asked them the reports. They knew they dint do right things after I asked the reports they killed him same Night . I have showed the results to Couple of other veterinary they all told me the same thing that it's a poor thing that he dint get the right treatment other wise he would have been normal in 3 days . read more

A good friend of mine had his pup operated on there years ago with a very positive outcome so when my 6 yr old lil girl needed to see a surgeon, without hesitation, I booked an appointment. $1300 later, wrong medications prescribed, others forgotten, inaccurate and incomplete information, along with many miscommunications among their staff that almost had near fatal results, I would NEVER again opt to go to this facility. In a time of emergency, with no other options, perhaps but I am highly disappointed by the lack luster level of concern and care my dog received. Immediate reaction was to recommend a $2 G MRI and surgery that would permanently incapacitate her. She's since had alternative treatment, under a holistic vet's care, and has started to make a very quick turn around that will hopefully permit her to continue to live an active and pain free life! Sadly, while waiting in their offices recently, (to find out where the medical records I'd asked be prepared for my pick up -which wasn't done despite the fact that I'd called twice to ensure it was done), I had the misfortune to overhear a rather casual handling of a concerned owner's SECOND call of the day to find out if the plastic tubing hanging out of her dogs neck was normal (only to hear the two vet techs discussing that yes they'd called but in the two hours since they'd not had time to get the message to the ER doc), as well as a very cold and unprofessional handling of a caller whose dog needed to be put down. There doesn't seem to be a negative star so hoping I can post this without a star rating. Basically, I feel that LIVS killed my 4.5-year-old dog. He underwent a very tough operation and it seemed to be a success. He was sent home a week later and I saw right away that his left eye was bulging. He had been there for neck surgery, not eye problems. I brought him back and their eye specialist did nothing and sent him home. I was concerned enough about his eye that it was suggested to bring him back for a CT Scan. I did that the next day and dropped him off. They called me a couple of hours later and I thought it was to tell me to pick him up, instead, they told me his heart stopped on the table from the anesthesia. They were trying to revive him and they said they'd call me back. They didn't. We waited 15 minutes for the call then we rushed there and were kept out in the car for 45 minutes before anyone would tell us if he was alive or dead. They finally let us in to see his little body being wheeled into the room for us to say goodbye. Not once did they say it was something they did and never gave a reason his eye was bulging, I asked the surgeon and he insisted the area he worked on was the other side. I find it hard to believe it wasn't something done to him during surgery. His eye was right near his neck. He was my best buddy and I just want to spare other people the pain of a loss like this that could have been prevented. I still miss him and cry every day. read more

Pets are denied basic treatment, while both veterinarians and administrative personnel charge more to the bill or wait for payment. I have learned from attorneys and veterinarians in the field that Long Island Veterinary Specialists has a long history of charging excessively for medical treatment that should be much more affordable, which summarily results in negligent medical treatment. The term for this is price gouging. To say the least, this is abominable and is the kind of institutional toxicity that should be investigated through legal channels. My recommendation to any pet parent is that you steer clear of this animal hospital, there are many reputable hospitals in the region, and if you ask veterinarians at these hospitals for their thoughts on Long Island Veterinary Specialists, you will hear similar concerns. Furthermore, to anyone who has had a negative experience at Long Island Veterinary Specialists, you have options - 1) Leave a Review, 2) Report the Incident, with the practicing veterinarian's name to New York State, 3) You can also explore legal recourse by contacting an attorney. Please also note that when people have attempted to contact administrative personnel at Long Island Veterinary Specialists, there is typically no response. My 1st experience with LIV was Jan. '09. Hershey (my choc. lab.) needed surgery She was under the care of Dr.Marino. I told him I had just lost my parents 6 mos. ago and could not lose my dog. The surgery went well and I was very satisfied. Dr. marino was great at calling me & keeping me updated as to Hersheys' progress. He promised me everything would be fine and he was right. My 2nd experience was Jan. '10 when Hershey needed surgery on her leg and paw. I went back to LIV and was introduced to Dr. Tomas Infernuso. I was impressed by the way he explained what he was going to do.. I went home and checked his credentials on line and was impressed again. Hershey received excellant care under Dr. Infernuso & he treated her like she was his own. He called every day during her stay with updates and was always available when I called. When I went back for bandage changes, Hershey was very happy to see him. This tells me alot. If a dog loves you, that's a great indication as to how they were treated. I have 3 rescue dogs and there is no question that Dr. Infernuso is the one they will go to . I cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Infernuso and LIV for all he and they have done. I would recommend LIV to anyone who has a pet who needs medical attention. Dr. Infernuso and the entire staff from the front desk to the back room staff are absolutely great! read more
