No one really comes on yelp to say they had a good experience at a fast food restaurant. It's usually to complain about the service or something or other. However, this long John silvers is fantastic. It tastes exactly like it did when I was a kid. It hasn't changed apart from the french fries but I think that's just due to the fact that they're also in the same building as A&W. However, they are waffle fries and they're pretty good. The fried deliciousness was spot on and extremely good. 5/5 would recommend if not just for a taste of nostalgia read more

Went for lunch there yesterday and first we waited for about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The girl that took our order was rude, they had no lids for cups, and the food was awful. The burger that my husband had was dry and the bacon was burnt and my food was cold and very greasy. Then there was a shouting match between a customer and the staff and alot of fu' s going around. I stopped in after getting my equine supplies nearby. Every once in a while I get hooked on fish. This, was one of those days. I got the 2 piece fish dinner, with slaw and hush puppies. No problems, everything was good, as usual. What did bother me? When my order was ready, even though I was a 'dine-in' customer, they handed me a plastic bag with a paper box inside and tons of napkins. A WHOLE lot of PAPER to throw away after I walk 7 feet to dine at a table! (I get the premise, Covid and all, but our planet is paying the price now, too!) On top of that, you now have to ask for ketchup and other condiments, again due to Covid they do not have those condiment pumps active anymore. I asked for ketchup and tartar sauce, which come in those little plastic packets. (Now, we're using MORE plastics, too! Poor Mother Earth!) You know? In theory, those little packets of condiments 'should' be a safer alternative to the pumps.....BUT, figure in that these packets get handled alot, by probably multiple people and that safety factor decreases. The person who took my order and HANDLED my debit card is also the same one who grabbed a handful of packets and put them in my food bag. ALL the while wearing gloves, for safety. The same pair of gloves. WHY does that MATTER, you may ask? Have you ever had problems opening one of those plastic packets? You tug and tear but no luck. Normally, you might be tempted to bite it open. BUT, IF you DO, you are putting anything that was on the staff's hands into your MOUTH! THEN, once you DO GET it OPEN, you squeeze the packet like toothpaste, and what usually happens? It's darn near impossible to get the contents out without them oozing over and around the torn opening you created to get at them! ONCE AGAIN, you just CONTAMINATED your condiments with any soiled matter that was lurking on the plastic! There MUST be ANOTHER way! Placed an order through their app for the first time. Big mistake. I arrived shortly before my order was supposed to be ready and checked in with the girl at the register. Long story short, I waited an HOUR to get my food and 3 walk-ins got their orders before I got mine. When I inquired about my order, I heard somebody say something about "cancelled". After finally getting my food (the girl never apologized for the long wait) I asked to speak with the manager. The manager apologized and mumbled something about the fact that they don't get app orders immediately, they get them 15 minutes before they're due to be ready. That's nice. What does that have to do with me waiting an hour and having to keep asking about my order? Clearly, a part or all of my order was cancelled for some reason and even though they were aware of it, nobody did anything about it. They saw me standing there waiting and no one ever asked me what I was waiting for. I told the manager that the girl never apologized and I should get a refund. The manager said he'd give me $5 off my next visit. Really? $5?! You think that's fair? On top of this, after I got home, I didn't get the fries I had ordered. Their food is good but the app and service are terrible. Haven't been back since. They can keep their $5. Corporate, if you're listening, at minimum, this entire team needs serious retraining. I was there at 8pm I was the only person in the drive thru with no one in front of me and I waited 15 minutes for that damn chilies. Was it worth it? All I can say is the food was horrible. All the tables were dirty and staff stood around just chatting with each other. Tried to order but the woman was a total wench and treated my husband so rudely that I got upset and we left. She said, "Siiirrr, I already told you the sides!" I can't believe she talked to us like that. We asked her to list the sides and she listed cheese curds as one of the sides. So we ordered a family (16 piece meal) and she said that curds would be $13.00 extra. Literally the worst establishment I've ever been to. The place is run down, and you would think since the outside isn't aesthetically pleasing the people would be nice. Absolutely not. The employee forgot to give me my drink, I ask her for it and she gives me an attitude. Then I drive off, went to grab a fry that I ordered and they forgot to put the fries in with the meal. So okay, common mistake. I go back and the lady tells me to drive around but the line is 4 cars long and their wait time is pretty lengthy, I said do I have to wait in line? She said no come inside. Be sure to read the tiny print at the bottom of the coupons for Long John Silver's! Going through the drive-through today to get dinner for 3, with coupons ready...I ordered the salmon meal (2 sides green beans), children's fish meal/root beer, family coleslaw, 2 extra fish pieces and one piece of chocolate pie. Total just under $27. I had the right coupons, if I'd had every family member order their own meal and pay for it.....in a drive through!!!. WHAT!!! The salmon was OK, along with the pieces of fish, the rice was sticky and flavorless, the green beans (who can ruin heated canned green beans .... and what have they done to the recipe of their coleslaw? OMG....it's so far removed from what it was. It's just not very good at all. The pie was as OK. Plus... I never got the beverage that comes with the children's meal. No biggie....that's the least of my complaint. Just sad....as if it's not bad enough that all food cost has gone up let alone gas prices to sit in the drive through while orders are being retrieved by other customers....but to think you have to have the whole family there to place and evidentially pay for their own order in order to use the coupons!!! REALLY! Really sad that this type of service has to be the new way to serve customers....or is it to scam people into using coupons? The young man at the window was great and did all he could to explain but seemed to appreciate my concerns. Certainly not his fault....it's a company issue. Yes, I paid the bill and left. I certainly won't be enticed by their coupons again to feed my family. The quality of their food has certainly gone down hill since 2021. The customer service at this place is terrible! The so-called manager, the bearded one with the orange braided hair, is rude and lacks any sense of respect and care of quality or service. They got my order wrong and when I returned to the window I get accused of bringing back fish from somewhere else, also being told that the cook was new and "swam" the fish differently in the fryer changing the shape of the fish, along with some other ridiculous claims by this jack-ass of a manager just to get a refund! I drive 45 minutes just to come here round trip. Every time I come here there's a problem with the fish. Last time half fresh half old fish on our 2 orders. Had to argue with them to fix it. Yesterday same thing ordered 8 piece meal 4 fresh full pieces of fish 4 half pieces that looked 2 hours old. When I showed it to them the lady told me " some pieces are small" . If one piece is half the size of a FULL piece then you should give them 2 small pieces to EQUAL one piece. You buy it by the pound. The recipe I'm sure accounts for how much weight is in an order so why cheat the customer by hiding smaller pieces under the correct size pieces. Then I asked for 15 packs of tartar sauce. She handed me 7 so I asked for more. She rolled her eyes at me like she has stock in the tartar sauce . Needless to say I'm not driving this far again to go through what I have had to endure because your staff has zero customer service skills and the food has been awful at best. I don't know what's going on with Captain D's?? The pictures they show of their fish looks like normal pieces you would expect, crispy batter and the little crunchy pieces along with it, just the way it was at one time. What we got looked like perfect big diamond shaped pieces of fish that all looked the same and very unnatural (at least I haven't seen fish shaped like that??). The fish was barley warm, dripping with grease, the texture of rubber and totally devoid of any crunchiness! Nothing like I remember it, or as their Add's depict it!!! The fries and hush puppies were old tasting. Actually the Cole slaw was OK. Probably the worst fast food I've had in some time! Actually made me sad! - I'll never go there again (No Captain D's period) - I'll never recommend them or any Captain D's to anyone read more

Returned after 20 years to give this place another try. The food was fairly good. A bit too much breading on the seafood. But we are glad they offer vegetables. Wish that they offered unbreaded fish or shrimp. Wish they didnt still use the frying grease that remains in your mouth.
