It's LENT, so we were looking for our Jones. My wife used to manage a LJS a long time ago, and we remember the long lines of Lent season. We dropped in on the first Friday of Lent, and were surprised we were able to get served quickly. This is a standard KFC/LJS shop - ambiance wise, it has the big bucket of chicken lamp over the table and half the store is LJS and the other have KFC. No problem. We ordered, I had the two piece fish with fries, and she had the one piece fish with 4 shrimp. The fish, fries and shrimp were all freshly cooked, the soft drink machine worked well, and the shop was reasonably clean. The fish tasted great with the tartar sauce, which was available at the counter. My wife ordered their cole slaw, which was as good as it usually is. I was happy to find this, they all closed up around me and sometimes you really need some crunchy fish and shrimp. The chicken was just ok, we have better chicken places around but the fish is so good!! Coleslaw is good, fries are ok but I put the malt vinegar and it's yummy. Had to drive thru because the dining room was closed early. read more

There are no longer any Long John Silver's around my neck of the woods. I spotted this when visiting my daughter in Sycamore, IL and immediately made a plan to stop there on my way out of town. I love the batter fried fish, shrimp and hush puppies. Service was quick, food was hot and so tasty! Miss them so much!!! read more

Never go here. Unbelievable bad service and a real bad attitude from servers. This time was the grand finale and we are never going back. They shortchanged my wife even tho she asked them to double check the order. When she got home and discovered the problem she immediately returned to store. Doors were locked so she had to go through drive in. When she explained the problem the girl did not believe her. My wife requested a new order or a refund. After a discussion the server then told her that they were out of fish. They finally agreed to credit her charge card in 3-5 days. What incredibly bad service. read more

The food smelled terrible, and was really greasy. I am not talking about the normal fried grease, I'm talking like pool of oil. It tasted gross. The lady taking the order was really rude too, like I was interrupting her day. There was no one there, so it's not like they were pressed for time. Also I asked for sauces and didn't get any. LJS are disappearing fast. This one is a gem. The employees are great and friendly,as well as the supervisor. The one in Sterling,IL closed recently.We were in Dekalb and stopped for lunch.The difference was amazing.Clean tables and restaurant.This food was NOT greasy as was the case in Sterling. Was glad to find this combo LJS/KFC. Can order from both menus. Chicken Planks are delicious. The best part is that they have a Coke Freestyle machine, which is a welcome change from the Pepsi products most KFCs serve. read more

Talk about above and beyond. Ordered a quick bite while my son was in an appt and drove back to pick him up. Opened up my meal, I ordered a combo with fish, chicken and shrimp, and when I opened the box the chicken was missing. I called Long John's and Marlene answered the phone. I told her what I ordered and immediately she apologized and asked where I was and said she would be here in 5 min. She arrived shortly after with the new chicken and an entire new meal on top of it and again apologized for their mistake. worst fast food experience ever. Well not fast as it took 2 tries in the drive through and 45 minutes to get the complete order. Not correct, complete. The young man taking orders told us to turn off our vehicle before he would take our order. It was a good thing he got the order wrong as apparently the chicken portion of the chicken and fish combo are pieces smaller than Mac Donald's chicken fingers. We finally got the order placed pulled up to the window to pay, paid, we're asked if we needed any sauces however clearly they weren't paying any attention to their customers as mid sauce order we were asked to pull forward. Notice that we did not receive our drinks? Also why the need to pull forward when there was no one behind us? After 10 minutes our food BUT NOT THE DRINKS was brought out to us. We could not get the attention of the girl who brought us our food to ask about the drinks. So back we go through the drive through. After being asked to turn our vehicle off again and waiting another 30 minutes we finally got our child sized drinks. Larger cups were not available nor was any money refunded for smaller sized drinks additionally, nothing was said about the size of the drinks provided. The young man at the window was very busy texting on his phone (I bet we all wish we got paid to stand there and text instead of working). When the managers number was requested we were told that they couldn't provide it. So asked for the number to corporate instead, that was provided. Called corporate and reached someone who said that I would receive a call the following day but of course that didn't happen, 2 days later I received a call from someone at the store. Truly if I had wanted to speak to someone at the store I could have stayed there, with my cold food, and talked to them when I was already there. I was able to photograph the person at the window on his phone as well as the "chicken plank" (1) that was supposed to be the fish and chicken combo. i used to enjoy Long John Silvers but this was such an unpleasant experience I don't know if/when I will try it again. read more

Food is the same as most other Long Johns but they are a combo store with KFC so some of the sides are NOT available. That makes it NOT as good as a standalone Long John's. You get the KFC sides in place of the regular ones from Long John's. read more

TV adds look so tasty. 6pm Saturday Drive-up. Ordered 2 orders fried clams and 3 fried shrimp,6 piece shrimp and five pieces fish side of mashed potatoes and mac n cheese Had to wait but that was ok because it would be hot. Done and in my car in about 3/4 mins. It really smelled yummy! Being a mom has many demands.kids wanted more clams and fries and popcorn chicken around the parking lot back thru drive thru. Why the details? by the time i got home about 5 mins boxes kept food warm. the first box warm crispy tender clams. they were good. The fries were soggy with grease. Not a good sign. None of the fish was crispy. Greasy! bottom layer of fish had puddle of grease so much grease the coating had come of. YUCK! Next box of clams looked dark brown, tasted burnt and clams were so tough they were hard to chew. Really surprised shrimp were half dollar sized flavor really good but they were gummy. Overall exceptional customer service, Deangelo is great. drive thru quick. Timing appears to make a big difference. $30.00 would be acceptable if food was cooked was right read more
