Great food. We were passing by from Lake Geneva and saw this amazing looking restaurant. They offer free popcorn when you get seated, then later give you freshly baked rolls with butter. We all were stuffed before our meals arrived, but basically the value for what we got was pretty good! Our bill was $135 for 3 adults and 3 children. It's too bad we aren't close by, it would be a monthly visit for sure.

As a group of four adults and two kids we came in for a late lunch on a winter weekend afternoon. We were seated and served right away. The restaurant looked great with holiday decor everywhere. Drinks were ordered and the hungry preschooler got in his food order. Soon we all ordered off the menu, a mix of salad, dinner and sandwiches. The meals arrived real quick. Nothing fancy but all very good. The Squire was the perfect choice for us. Definitely good experience. Five stars.

Dinner salad. Many salad dressings to choose from. Salad served chilled on a chilled plate. Perfect.

We drove from Wheaton to try the Village Squire for the first time They have lots of good Yelp reviews, they have many menu options and on Monday evening they have a magician who does table magic. Sounds fun. I will get the only disappointment out of the way. The magician didn't stop at our table. He went to 2 tables in our area and then went to the bar. After a few minutes in the bar area, he went to the hostess/cashier and spent time talking to her. By then it was time for us to leave. We were disappointed. He would have been disappointed to know that he missed out on the tip I planned to give him. The food and service were excellent. I can't think of one thing I would recommend that they do differently. Special shout out for the warm bread served with the meal. I would like to return when the weather is nice enough to sit outside.

Saganaki cheese tasted like old, reused oil. The Swiss cheeseburger had a decent amount of cutlet, and the fried calamari was just mediocre. It's a nice place with a unique interior featuring a medieval touch.

Charming place with excellent service and classic American cuisine. The interior is fascinating, the vibe is calm and serene -- absolutely worth another visit

Do not order curds for delivery. Barely enough to cover the bottom for $15.

The food was all cold when it was delivered. The biggest disappointment was that there was no enough curds to even cover the bottom of the container for $15.

Went as a family for first time and we loved it! My 8 year old son gave the service 10/10 and all my kids loved tbe popcorn/bread that came out before our meal! I got the Rueban with extra sauce on side and onion rings! So good! We will definitely be back! The ambiance is adorable! Very cute restaurant and we sat right in front of fireplace which was nice!

Decided to go out for an early Friday family night dinner and was not disappointed. I haven't been here in years and it's still as good as before. I love the Chicago mushrooms! They are creamy and delicious. The shrimp street tacos were cooked well and had great flavors. I enjoyed the cheese pizza as well... The sauce is very tangy like a good marinara. My kids really liked the chicken fingers and fries too. They also really love the complimentary popcorn bowls! Our server was very attentive and had a great demeanor. I love the decor and lighting here because it definitely feels like an old "tavern" but very family friendly. The prices are on par with most places that are similar IMO. Good food, nice atmosphere and great service.

They also changed up their cocktail menu, and we were super excited to see they had some new summer drinks. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. It's perfect for special occasions and date nights. The first two times we came we sat at the bar, but we came right when they opened and were able to be seated at a table. I love the candlesticks they have lit at the tables. There's a a view of the kitchen as well. To drink, I had the Dip in the Backyard Kiddie Pool (very refreshing) and Fresa Fresca (basically a strawberry margarita and it was super refreshing and tasted like strawberry juice). For dessert, we shared the oreo carjillo. It was pretty strong to me, but it definitely tasted like Oreos and milk! To eat as an appetizer, they gave us complimentary bread and butter and we ordered the sundried tomato oil to go along with it (a must). Their bread is so soft and fresh. We also got the bone marrow (forgot to get a photo), and it was some of the best we've had!! For our entrees, we got the two pasta dishes. They called them "small plates" but it was the perfect amount of food for us with our appetizers. I had the spicy carrot rigatoni pasta and it was super fresh. I love that they cooked the pasta al dente.

We loved everything about The Graceful Ordinary from the ambience to the amazing service (thanks Karen!) to the creative cocktails to the delicious food. When we arrived at the table, there was an anniversary card from the staff. Nice touch! We were brought a loaf of the warm housemade bread with whipped butter to begin. Hubby ordered the Having a Moment bourbon cocktail, and I had the Honey Kiss vodka and elderflower cocktail. Love their creative cocktail list. Karen was a fabulous server, so attentive and friendly. The other staff was on top of everything from water being refilled to clearing dirty dishes and even fresh butter brought to the table when it was low. Our needs were met before we even needed to ask. Also, since Karen knew that we were splitting all the courses, she automatically had the food split between two plates. I liked that. We decided to split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs which were creamy delicious, not to mention beautifully presented. Our second starter was the bone marrow with caramelized shallots. This dish was absolutely amazing. My only critique would be to put four pieces of bread on the plate went two people are sharing. Our next course was a salad and we went with the roasted beet salad with blue cheese and sunflower shoots dressed in a warm bacon vinaigrette. Bacon - need I say more? Our main course was the walleye with ricotta gnudi, fava beans, peas and wild mushrooms. So many flavors and textures going on. The fish was perfectly seared and moist. Delectable. We thought about dessert but we were so full from dinner that we passed. Karen wouldn't let us go without a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary to enjoy at home, their signature butterscotch pot de crème with sea salt caramel. The Graceful Ordinary certainly made our anniversary special with the anniversary card at the table, and the complementary dessert. If you're in the western Chicago burbs, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

I ordered "the usual" combo - the Nashville hot mozz sticks, crispy chicken cripsers with a side of their DELIGHTFUL honey-chipotle sauce, and the big mouth bites) through the app on my phone, which was incredibly user friendly and a breeze! The order eta was right around 20 minutes and I received a text notification for each update; confirmation/receipt of my order, the status, and when it was ready for pick up. Communication was outta this world and supremely appreciated, especially since I was on-the-go. When I picked up my order, it was neatly packaged and the contents were delightfully hot. I do have to preface and say that I LOVE The Triple Dipper because it hits EVERY TIME and the portions are so generous, that it always ends up being 2-3 meals of worth. Tasty, consistent, and a bang for your buck! Once I got home a few minutes later, it was time to DIG IN and I went straight for the mozz sticks! Let me tell you about that first cheese pull; OUTRAGEOUS. Sensational. Ooey gooey cheesey goodness! Chili's has done it again! The chicken crispers were, indeed, crisp to perfection and insanely delicious with the honey chipotle sauce on the side. The sliders were also cooked to perfection and balanced beautifully with the cheese, grilled onions, and bacon bits. What an ELITE combo! A quick honorable mention goes to the side of chips and salsa. I am OBSESSED with how thin, crisp, and delicious the chips are every time I get them. They truly satisfy every time! You will DEFINITELY be seeing my at Chili's again, whether it be sitting down at the restaurant or taking out to enjoy at home. For anyone who's in a Chili's kinda mood, go for it! Your taste buds and tummy will thank you :)

We sat at the bar and the one bartender tried his best to keep up with the drink orders for the whole restaurant & the bar patrons drink & food orders. As we approached a wait of 1 hour & 35 minutes, we asked the bartender to have the meals placed in to go boxes. 10 more minutes go by without our meals and we asked to speak to a member of management. What was concerning was the restaurant manager on duty only came out when we requested to speak with a manager. In a calm tone, asked the manager on duty if a 1 hr 45 minute wait for our meals was reasonable. He tried to tell us that they were very busy and the kitchen was behind. Agreed. When asked if we should pay for a meal that was severely delayed he agreed the wait was excessive and he would cover the cost of the meal. I appreciate this reaction from the manager on duty. Unfortunately, when we took our meals to go, we didn't have a good experience with the meals. Received one chicken breast grilled and one breaded for the Portofino Pollo dish. Looked like they grabbed what was up at the time in the kitchen and placed it in the to go containers. Flavors were bland, likely a result of being rushed after a 1 hr 45 min wait. This might be coincidental but being short staffed at the Compton Hills location when they are opening a new location in Geneva is probably what led to the severe delays from the kitchen in servicing meals. Hope the opening of the Geneva location doesn't adversely impact the Campton Hills location beyond our dining visit experience. I gave a rating of 2 as the Manager on Duty did agree to cover the meal cost. The bartender tried to keep us from leaving by offering us a drink on the house to stay after we asked for the meals to be placed in to go boxes to take home at that point versus staying and dining. Proactive customer support would've helped versus a reactive attempt of customer support. Didn't penalize the bartender and provided a cash tip since the kitchen's delay was not his fault. Let's hope Portofino Trattoria does better in the future.
