This amazing local spot was recommended to us by family who live in Springfield. We ordered specialty sandwiches, but they also make salads and bowls as well. The bread was amazing, definitely fresh and everything was so well seasoned and flavorful. It has a great vibe, locally owned and run and only open for lunch Tuesday-Friday. Friendly and efficient service. We saw all types of people having lunch here (locals in lunch break, two Springfield police officers grabbing lunch, other visitors to the city) it's definitely unique and special and you can tell it's well loved by the locals. The sandwiches are huge and could easily be shared. We'll be recommending it to everyone planning a visit Super well done

Incredible food, it's obvious that they put a lot of time and effort into it. Large portions. It's a small space and often crowded but the service is always very good! Best place to get lunch downtown.

Isn't the same animal as before by any means and I definitely chose poorly on my menu selection. The layout is poorly done and seating is beyond tight than what it was before. The menu lacks originality or anything that says "I definitely need to try that!" Got the plain Jane because the chicken in the past was mouth watering and amazing. This time around, it's not the same. When it's on the bread, it's nothing but a soggy mess. They ask if you want honey on it, but didn't get any sweetness to make me think it had honey on it, maybe they forgot. $20 for a sandwich and a drink and tip isn't going to fly for a town full of trash who would rather stick their mouth on a nipple that drains cheese sauce straight into ya. In closing, they need to update or clean their hood system, my clothes picked up the horrible smell of their restaurant like when you eat at a Mexican restaurant and you smell like barfed up tortilla chips. Wish em the best, but I have a feeling it won't last. Won't be running back for more anytime soon.

Turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes - good

Great casual restaurant in Springfield. Since there is limited seating you order at the counter first then take a seat so it is fair and so people with food have somewhere to sit. I love the amount of options on their menu and that they have various side options. Any time I can get mashed potatoes at a sandwich shop I'm extra happy. My friend got the pork Mac and cheese. She said it was good but very heavy. I had the turkey sandwich with cheese and mashed potatoes. It was good! I like that it came with a side of tomato soup for dunking. It was a big sandwich so I had plenty of food. I also purchased a chocolate chip cookie. It was big and delicious! The staff was very friendly and the food was quick. Prices are fair. My friend told me it is always busy here so expect a line. We went when they opened and a line formed instantly.

I had the Steering Wheel and it was one of the best French Dips, I've ever had. Sweet potato fries and the krinkle fries were tasty. While we waited for our food, some of us walked over to the little museum. The owner came over and talked to us a bit and our grandson's liked all the car stuff and memorabilia! They host bands, but we were just there for lunch on a rainy day! I had the chicken salad which was very good and liked the fact it didn't have raw onion like a lot of places have as I can't do raw onion. I asked for it in a wrap instead of the croissant that it normally comes on and they accommodated my request. I went with the home made chips, which were different than most have. They were really good and I shared them with others. Two of our Grandson's had pizza which they liked and another Grandson had the pulled pork nacho's with his Grandpa. Our daughter had the protein bowl which she enjoyed as well. I was sitting at the other end, so not sure what anyone else had. We will be back again!

I visited Boyd Generation Cafeteria today and had a disappointing experience from start to finish…read more The young lady who took my order at the drive-thru was polite and professional -- she was honestly the only bright spot of the visit. But when I got home and started going through my food, I realized something was off. I noticed what I thought was an extra dessert in a flimsy plastic container, but when I looked closer, it turned out my baked dark meat chicken was missing -- the main part of my order. I called twice. No answer. Straight to voicemail. Voicemail was full. So I drove all the way back, tried to go inside -- doors locked. Got back in the drive-thru line and explained the issue. Then the woman who I assume was the owner or head cook came to the window, and instead of addressing my concern professionally, she hit me with sarcasm and attitude -- as if I was out of line for coming back for food I paid for. She insisted she personally packed the chicken and tried to make it seem like I was the problem. When I mentioned there was a container in the bag that looked like pie, she snapped that they didn't serve sweet potato pie that day. Eventually, she handed me what looked like a pie container and told me to open it. Sure enough, it was the chicken -- but it was so dry and shriveled, no wonder I mistook it for a slice of pie. At that point, I told her flat-out: I'm never coming back. To that woman -- if you're reading this -- your behavior was unprofessional, your customer service was dismissive and hostile, and your food wasn't even worth the trip. Mistakes happen, but instead of owning it, you doubled down with attitude and dry chicken in a dessert container. Word of advice: stop assaulting your chicken. Inject it with something buttery, juicy, and respectful before putting it out in the world. Because nobody wants to eat food that looks and tastes like regret. I will not be returning, and I'll be warning others to stay far away.

Still my all time favorite soul food spot. I love going to Springifled for work and dinning at…read moreBoyd's for over 20 years now. You can't go wrong with anything you order. The staff is excellent.
