After a long bike ride on the nearby Columbia Trail, I stopped by Long Valley Brew Pub for a casual lunch. The weather was beautiful, so I sat outside on the patio where I enjoyed a very delicious Chicken Caprese Panini. It was fresh and amazingly delicious. There was a nice selection of craft beers, including some local micro breweries like Czig Meister of Hackettstown. Alas, I did not indulge in beer today. Interestingly, the menu includes some unusual game meats, including venison, boar, duck, and elk. The restaurant was a bit understaffed, but overall the service was satisfactory and Luz did a great job. The price for lunch was a great value! read more

How in the world does this restaurant only have 2.9 stars?! Our friend had a birthday dinner here, so we reluctantly drove here, not expecting much after seeing the reviews, but the food was so good!!! They use fresh ingredients, don't skimp out on bread quality, and the meals were all flavorful. Tried a bite of one of the 3 pulled pork sliders, and the meat was so tender and had a delectable BBQ flavor. People were enjoying the nachos. My husband got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich $18, and I got the Classic Cab Burger $17 to be safe. Needless to say, we did not have to be "safe." Every dish was delicious. Think, "Better than Bergen County diners." It's not a fancy restaurant, but also not a lousy joint. They have pretty decent food! If they were in Bergen County, I'd probably frequent this restaurant. Interior is quaint -- built in 1771, with stone walls and high ceilings -- and a large enough space to accommodate large parties, including outdoor tables. Nice outdoor seating area, great menu full of items that aren't your run of the mill tavern faire. Loved the Blushing Flamingo cocktail. Tequila, lime, pineapple juice, Oj, guava puree and Prosecco. Ordered their version of Bangers & Mash, venison sausages, mash, spinach, cranberries, onion frizzles and a delicious cream sauce. Service was good and my party was very happy with their choices. Came here with friends on Memorial Day, place was absolutely packed to no surprise. Food : we ordered a peach bruschetta with goat cheese, and German pretzel, which were both very good appetizers. The peach bruschetta was especially nice for comfortable spring day. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which was actually perfectly balanced flavor wise. I also really enjoyed the fries Service: because they were absolutely packed, we didn't get helped immediately with ordering, but our waitress was super kind and constantly checking in on us telling that she would be there and saying that she apologizes, which is a sign of great service me but she did not have to apologize for anything. Ambiance: this is a great place to sit outside and eat at on a nice day. Plenty of patio seating, I was only briefly inside, but look like there was a lot of seating inside as well. read more

Quite disappointed. I invited friends for my birthday and kind of wish I didn't. I went there last year and had the ribs so I was excited because they were great, but not this time! Service started ok, got the appetizer and before we even finished them, here comes our main course. The servers bringing it did not even try to clear the table before placing our meals down and there was no room. Seriously!! My ribs taste good but were extremely tough like they weren't cooked long enough. Very disappointed because two of my friends ordered them off my experience. Lovely rustic place, I've been a half dozen times over the last few years. Both the food and the beer have improved since previous visits but they only rank average for the area on both. What an unexpected stop! We visited another bar close by and decided to give this place a try after. Walking in they have plenty of outdoor seating- which seemed to be popular- staff meets you at the door. The bar tender was quick and kind. The pub is beautiful, found myself constantly looking around. We saw a ton of Rueben sandwiches flying out of the kitchen so of course we had to try one. Very good! Visited on Cinco de Mayo with a group of friends. The place was surprisingly empty for such a large drinking holiday. They had a specials menu with good choices and the food was good quality. The prices were a bit higher than I felt they should be, but the food didn't disappoint. Service was slow considering there were approximately 3 tables of customers in the dining area. We waited what seemed to be too long for drink refills considering the number of customers. Other than this visit, I haven't been here in a long time. I will try back, as the food was good, but would hope for better pricing and service. read more

Dined here October 19, 2023. Came here for the prime rib dinner. Enjoyed the cocktails more than their brews but they do change up the selection. Had the caramel apple martini, pumpkin tini (yum) & the nutty Irishman. There was a decent amount of fat on the meat which wasn't great and it was a bit on the small side after cutting off the fat, but it was only $24 for the Caesar salad/soup, prime rib, baked/mashed potato & a vegetable medley. Hmm...ordered the baked potato, but it came with the mashed. Also sampled their boneless wings & guac/chips. Waitstaff was super friendly. We go out to eat three times a week and try a ton of spots so for me to say this was the WORST dining experience I ever had is saying a lot. We go every year for Thanksgiving. Always was good. This year was a disaster. First off let's start with the fact that it went from $30 last year to $55 this year per person. The food was awful most of it tasted frozen . Cranberry sauce clearly from a cheap can, all the "cheap" items like salad of hummus was replaced rapidly but things like the shrimp cocktail were not refilled at all our whole hour there. 20% tip was also automatically included for the waiter, who got us each one drink, and we never saw again until it was time for the check. But all if this gets even better ....they messed up our reservation not once, not twice but FIVE times.. they kept saying we had a reservation, then we didn't have one then it was three different times! I took the family to long valley brew pub over the weekend. Let me preface my review with this snippet of information. My children both wanted pizza so before I drove to the restaurant I gave them a call and inquired if they serve pizza. The employee who answered the phone told me yes they have kids pizzas, great we're inbound. Upon arriving we were seated after the two hostesses had this awkward exchange with each other over where we would be seated. We were ultimately escorted to a small 4 person table by the fireplace which was on. The interior is rustic and aesthetic is appealing. Our waiter arrived at our table and took our drinks. My kids exclaimed they were famished so we asked to put their orders in right away. We ordered for my kids the two highly anticipated kids pizzas and the waiter scurried off to submit the food order and drinks. To my great dismay he returned several minutes and said they were sold out of pizzas. Apparently the kitchen does not communicate with the front end to well as the employee who originally answered the phone didn't know and even worse our waiter has no idea. Fortunately there are multiple kid options so we were able to alleviate my children's fear of impending starvation. After reviewing the menu I asked the waiter how the ribs are when we was forthcoming and explained he just started here so he never had them, however he said multiple patrons in the past have raved about them. I ordered the ribs and they arrived about 20 minutes later. At first glance I realized it was only a half a rack and at the price point that was concerning. I dove right in however I was pretty disappointed as the ribs were very fatty. I ended up sending them back and ordered a grilled chicken sandwich instead. The sandwich was ok, nothing to write home about but I was hungry and it did the job. The ribs were taken off my bill and I was content with the resolution. At this point if my dining experience concluded I would have gave this business 3 stars in my review but this is when things took a wrong turn. My kids wanted desert so we waited about 5 - 10 minutes for the waiter to check on us so we could order and get the check as they were getting antsy. I ended up flagging the waiter down as he passed by our table when he asked me to please wait. I figured he was busy maybe with a new table so gave him the benefit of the doubt. I waited about another 10 minutes and again attempted to get his attention as he passed. The waiter again asked me to please wait. I looked around the restaurant and it was half empty but I took into consideration he was new so I waited about 10 more minutes. At this point my table was descending into a modern version of lord of the flies when my wife took the children outside to the car. I came to the realization that desert was not in the stars but apparently neither was me getting the check. I ended up going up to the bar and asked them for the check. you would think this would be cause for alarm by management but no one seemed upset by it except me. I don't blame the waiter, he's new and was very friendly but maybe someone should have stepped in and helped him out. read more

Coming during covid times is different for restaurants. They did a good job of spacing out the tables and wearing masks. The food was very good. The fried pickles with the pulled pork sandwich was good but it did lack bbq sauce. The burger was very good and the waffles fries were on point. It's a popular place, the service was ok albeit a little slow getting our order and being severed. If you go on a weekend don't come famished because you might be waiting to be seated/served. I really wasn't going to make a review but since I'm up at 2 am with food poisoning I figured I'd keep myself occupied. I'd like to preface this by saying I have worked as a server and bartender for over 10 years so my tolerance level is set pretty high. I am by no means a Karen. This has got to be hands down the WORST dining experience of my life aside from my mothers cooking. No but seriously this was f-king UNACCEPTABLE There was a wait so we ordered some cocktails at the bar. When we finally got to our table we didn't see our server for 10 more minutes. And the first introduction was asking for a lost checkbook instead of hello. He was in the weeds. Not ideal, but okay. I understand. We put in our whole order and the app was fine, we ordered the steak medallions, which was the only edible thing about our meal that day. For entrees I ordered the special skirt steak and my husband ordered the pork porterhouse. When the food came out, The expo threw our food down and ran, we weren't even given silverware. Welcome to medieval times? my husband got up to search for literally anyone who cared to no avail and I noticed my steak was VISIBLY RAW. Not even IN the MIDDLE, IT WAS on the OUTSIDE. I don't even know how that's physically possible to cook a steak that awful. Not to mention the zucchinis on my plate were slimy and soggy looking. When my husband came back with silverware that he might as well have forged himself, I had him cut his PORK PORTERHOUSE in half and to no surprise, IT WAS RAW. At this point we have waited a collective hour and a half and still haven't been able to eat. Our server came to check on us for the first time 20 minutes after we were BOTH served RAW MEAT He said nothing. He took our plates with our silverware and ran off. And I know that you are horrified by this review but let me assure you, IT GETS WORSE. So this guy who didn't address himself as the manager comes to our table, I had to ask if he was the manager to which he said yes, but he didn't seem apologetic about the fact we were BOTH served RAW MEAT, I was just dumbfounded at the fact that I was the one that had to make a suggestion for a comp on our drinks, I know most customers would have been making a scene at this point. I was remaining hopeful. I was taking a deep breath thinking "this will all be over soon, we will get new food, a new start, namaste and all that" YEAH IT GETS WORSE THE EXPO comes back WITH THE FOOD and AGAIN THROWS IT DOWN AND RUNS AWAY. we are once again not given silverware. The manager is nowhere to be seen when the food is delivered to us. BRO IDK HOW YOU DO THINGS OVER HERE BUT THE MANAGER SHOULD BE AT THE TABLE WHEN THIS TYPE OF F*CK UP HAPPENS, NO EXCEPTIONS. IT GETS WORSE they didn't even give us new food, they RE HEATED OUR OLD RAW FOOD INSTEAD OF GIVING US FRESH FOOD. I don't think these people understand how dangerous or disgraceful that is. YOU UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES EVER EVER EVER SERVE A CUSTOMER RAW FOOD EVER. The only reason I even stayed was because I had given you the benefit of the doubt AND YOUR ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT RIGHT IS TO MICROWAVE THE SAME FOOD? I am livid at this point and I poke at the steak to see if my EYEBALLS have deceived me. The food was still raw, the plate could have given anyone a third degree burn. Our same plates that had RAW FOOD ON THEM sat under the lamp in the back, (BTW pro tip; plates themselves should never burn your skin, if it does, its a sign your food has been on the line. Aka sitting under a heat lamp) AND THE OLD RAW FOOD THEY SERVED US WAS STILL RAW BUT IT GETS WORSE upon inspection of my still raw meat, I noticed a crack in the plate, which is another health code violation that happened that day and THEN: I think to myself, wow how could this get any worse? It's not a crack. It's a hair. A black hair. Next to ANOTHER black PUBIC LOOKING hair. I'm sure you're wondering, is it my hair? Have I planned this all along? Have I planted my own hair on this plate because I'm just so mad? And my response to that would be no. I have red hair and my husband is blond. I envy anyone who had a great experience here, I love that journey for you but we will never return. And my advice to whoever owns or runs this place, Stop. read more

The menu is extremely small and limited and the food was very very average and on the salty side. The Buffalo wings were mushy (although they are fried) but edible. The craft beer they brew was middle of the road. There are so many brew pubs and breweries in NJ it's highly competitive. Main courses were Duck cooked medium with a crispy skin but accompanied by a spinach that has enough salt to induce a stroke. Yes that much. NY Strip very average, house Demi glaze was flavorless. My husband's burger & fries were great & my turkey club was excellent. I saw a lot of salads coming out that looked very good. Service outside was a little haphazard. Luckily before my kids ate any I noticed the chicken was still raw, I let the waitress know and she offered to "make it right" I guess getting me another drink was her idea of correcting it. I've been to this place two times. The first time was so long ago I actually forgot where the location was and the name of the place. The first time I had some nachos which were inedible and assumed I'd never be back. When we pulled up this time around I realized I had been here before. I decided to give it another chance since I only had one item last time. 17$ for 8 wings. it's incredible we've gotten to this point in dining and it's become acceptable to charge these prices. The wings were cooked well but came out lukewarm at best, by the time we finished the last wing they were ice cold. Our entrees were honestly disgusting. We hadn't eaten much in two days due to some issues going on at home and just wanted some hot food to eat. My fiancés sandwich was on a roll which was like powdered stale dust and crumbled as he ate it. The pulled pork tasted so sour I couldn't believe he got so much of the sandwich down. I spit it out immediately when he had me try it. He really didn't like the sandwich but was so hungry he forced it down. The Turkey burger was like a dry rock and was smothered in the sweetest jelly it was sickening. I even asked for the sauce on the side when I ordered and the waitress didn't relay this to the kitchen so it was over the entire thing. I tried to keep my mouth shut and just force down the food but I couldn't and ended up picking it apart and putting it on different plates to find the edible pieces. She came and saw the plates covered in the bun and all the sauce scraped off and just cleared the plates without saying anything. The beer also was so stale my fiancé didn't drink it. I'm never ever one to complain at restaurants. I eat the food and leave and never come back. But the fact that this bill was going to be almost 75$ after tip I just couldn't stand for it. It's unethical to charge people that much money for this quality of food. The manager was nice and offered to discount one of the items off the bill and offered a free dessert. I apologized profusely for complaining but I couldn't let this slide. He was understanding. He probably knows the food isn't good and it's not like he's cooking it so what's he supposed to do? I didn't think we could stomach one more bite so we declined and took the offer of one item off the bill. I hope this review lets the staff know that while they are kind people and we appreciate the discount, this food is unacceptable. Big changes need to be made in the kitchen. Based on all the other negative reviews, I am not alone in this. Ironically, a large table sat next to us before we left. The were joking they hadn't been there in years and wondered if the food was still terrible. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what does. read more

Sat at the bar, listened to the waiters chat back and forth, one yelling curse words down in the kitchen when there were young kids in the dining room. Stopped in to try this place. We had looked at the menu online and picked stuff out but when we got there, the menu was shortened so we had to pick out other items. The outside dining experience was great, was a little hot under the tents but if the breeze hit right it was great. We ordered calamari for an appetizer and it was fresh and delicious! We ordered the Southwestern Salad and the Orecchiette. The salad was huge and the dressing had a little kick to it too. Very good. The Orecchiette was a large portion as well.
