6 hour round! I played here for the first time on Saturday 2-4-17. It's a nice course but they have no control on pace of play. I had read about this in previous reviews but i decided to book there anyway hoping it would no longer be an issue. As I pull up to hole #4 there are two groups standing on the tee box and another group on their way to the fairway. Waited a long time to tee off there and it was an on going issue at every hole after that. Discussed my displeasure of the round with their employees while unloading and getting clubs cleaned, I learned that was a regular complaint so it's not an issue they are looking to fix. Overbooking to maximize revenue I guess. 6 hours is ridiculous, I will not be playing there again. read more

My favorite golf course in the Mesa area. No doubt. Good pricing. Good service. Every golf hole has its own character trait. No two golf holes are the same. Not an easy course, but not ridiculous either. Also, nice views of Red Mountain and the Valley on practically every hole. The course is always well conditioned and the greens roll true. No houses either...although that MAY change in the future, but even then I can see where the houses will be off the course and NOT playing through or near holes. Falcon Field airport is also next store so it is cool to see small craft planes fly overhead. This is more so on the front nine than on the back nine. If you are in or near Mesa YOU MUST play this wonderful golf course. You will not regret it. Good experience every time I've played here. A golfer's golf course. Enjoy. read more

This is a really nice golf course in a really bad location. It is located close to a very busy airport. Throughout your round you will be distracted by planes of all shapes and sizes flying over head - close enough that you could see the pilots waving. Nonetheless, I would go back because the golf course is well maintained and fun to play. read more

Challenging yet fun layout. Good grooming except for bunkers--mostly dirt and fine gravel. Forget about food at the turn--turnaround time VERY slow, unless the outside kiosk is open. Friendly staff. Overall a pretty good value despite my criticisms. I recommend. read more

This is a GREAT course...in GREAT shape. So why one star. For all of the same reasons all of the other reviewers who gave it one or two stars. Unmet potential. Horrible management. You pick. Everything from an extremely unfriendly and helpful cashier when you first check in, to no drinking water on the course. When you throw in a 5 hour plus round of golf and not a single marshall on the course, well...great course, poor golf. There are far too many great course in the Phoenix area to waste your time on a course that doesn't know how to provide customer service. read more

If you are vacationing in Mesa for the Winter, but plan to leave before April 1, don't volunteer for any major PGA or LPGA events at Longbow. I was told that if I volunteered for at least 3 shifts in one event, I'd get a free round of golf at Longbow. As it turned out, I worked 4 shirts and when I given my certificate for a free round of golf, it did take affect until sometime in mid-April. Nowhere in any of the information I read did it state that the free round of golf was good until mid-April. To make a long story short, I lost out on the golf because we headed back up north March 31. My advice to you........read the small print and get clarification before you volunteer. I am enjoying this course layout but pace of play is abysmal. 4 some holding up entire course and Ranger does nothing.

Best conditioned course I played in years. There is absolutely no bare spot in this course. Even the teeing area looked better than some of other cheap course's greens. The layout is interesting and not penalizing. There are plenty of mounds and deep bunkers to not make you boring. No housing nearby and nice view to the red mountain is bonus on this course. Greens deserve special compliments. They are fast and roll true with enough undulation that can bite you if you get careless. read more

This is a fine golf course. I love the clubhouse and the staff is very friendly. The pro shop is a little minimal. Not very big and very little selection of shirts or any other type of golf gear. You can get a discount card for free so anybody complaining about rates should do just a little bit of research. The course itself is in fantastic shape. It's a great layout and somewhat difficult. It's right next to an airport but it's not really bothersome. It's a small airport. The problem with this course is the sand traps. Wherever is in charge of the sand traps should be fired. None of them were edged and they were like playing out of dirt. No such thing as blasting out of the bunker because they are just dirt. A little disappointing for such a quality course. The greens were in fantastic shape but a little bit firm. You couldn't really hold anything going into a green. I'll play there again hoping they ship in sand from somewhere. Played this track 20 years ago when it first opened. Since I haven't been back in town I thought I'd give it a go. Certainly glad I did. For mid summer, the course is in excellent shape. Friendly staff, plenty of bottled water on the course. Will definitely play this again before I head back out of town. read more

This is a mixed review. The 2 stars could easily be changed and turned to a 4 or 5 with some work in the clubhouse, and minor changes. Here's my story... I was playing in the afternoon, 3:04 pm to be exact. After we paid the higher than normal fees for summer rates for the area, we then were informed to have the carts back by 6 cuz they close at 6. So, we can't get a full round in, paid the same for an afternoon rate that we'd have gotten at noon. No twilight rate?!? Absurd. And the guy in clubhouse waited for us to pay, then remind us. Not when we booked it, or walked in. Then he made the comment that "if you hurry, you could make it" Who wants to rush and hurry in golf. It should be enjoyed. So the next complaint- absolutely NO water for drinking on the course. I don't call the drinking fountains acceptable in AZ summer heat. You could've made hot tea with that water out of the fountains. And NO bev cart. This is understandable for the bev cart during the slow summer season, but please keep the holes stocked with fresh cool water for drinking. Especially during the July AZ summers. All in all, the course was in great shape. I wouldn't mind paying higher summer rate since course was in great shape. I will return only because I work across the street. read more

Save your money. The course has no definition and is quite flat. Worst greens I have played on in a long time. Maybe if they mowed then they might improve. Sand traps have no sand in them and they were unapologetic in charging $85 for it. I ran into some golfers that night who told me that they played 2 holes and went in and demanded their money back and went and played Las Sendas which is a much nicer course for the same cost. read more

Played Longbow twice this week while here on vacation and had same experience each time. There were more maintenance people on the course than golfers. Every hole had to wait for tractor to pass before hitting a ball off the tee and also on the fairway. Moving slowly and they do not stop when they see someone ready to hit. Tee box markers were moved to the side for mowing and had to look for them. Our tee time was 6:30 am so we were playing at the time when serious golfers tee off in hot weather. Course was nice but just too many distractions, would not play again. read more

I've only played here once but I was pretty shocked a course like this exist in Mesa. It was slammed that for some kind of golf event, so stands where everywhere. The clubhouse didn't seem to impressive but all I care about is the course, it was fun. read more

Nice course. There is no shade in the summer, so be prepared for the heat. Only big issue is the price. They price it like a top tier course. It's simply not as nice as they seem to think. If they'd bring the price in line, I'd play it more often. read more

Longbow is hands down the worst golf experience I have ever had. It's a beautiful course but we spent five to ten minutes waiting on the groups stacked up in front of us on EVERY single tee box and more time on the fairway. There were no rangers but they didn't need any because nobody could go anywhere they so overbooked the course. Upon inquiry the staff at the counter rudely told us they are a very busy course and that this is how it is everyday. It took us, a twosome, over five hours to finish thirteen holes before we quit. read more

Longbow is one of those Phoenix-area courses, like Vista Verde and Southern Dunes, than live under the shadows of more renown and expensive courses like Troon North, We-Ko-Pa, Superstition Mountain and the Boulders. Longbow doesn't present the player with drastic elevation changes or jaw-dropping scenic views, but it is a superb tract of desert golf. Like Copper Canyon and Southern Dunes, both of which I played recently, the course is manicured to perfection with both green fairways and rough, throughly-raked bunkers, nicely-cut tee boxes and slick but true greens. There are no gimmicks at play here other than recurring desert washes that force the player to contemplate club selection on a number of holes. But beware: The holes here are cut alot less wider than most Arizona courses. Water is present on a few holes and hitting the ball slightly offline to either the left or right can leave you wet, lost, beached or hitting from some awful lie. The pace of play was excellent, the proshop staff was welcoming and accomodating and the cart girl was ever present up until 4 in the afternoon. For quality and price, Longbow is tough to beat. read more
