Fairways and greens were pure for mid March Pace of play was right about 4 hours. Not much of any grass inches off the fairway and some puddles from sprinklers even at 10AM when it was sunny and high 80s. Would play again for the value. read more

Unprofessional and disrespectful!! I get it, it's peak season here in AZ and golfers are coming from far and wide. While they're already charging an insane amount, the staff couldn't have been more disrespectful. We found a coupon pass for a "cheaper" tee time and planned on using it. I was talked down on when we called in to book and was told it was a "course holiday". Plenty of full price tee times on the website though! We had called to confirm that the coupon was valid and we were told that it was all good (with an annoyed tone and short response). Couldn't recommend this place less. sooo why are the sprinklers turning on at 720 pm when it's summer time you guys can't make um turn on at 830 or 9 pm no one is on the course till 6am , ruined my phone and got my 7 years old and myself soaked there's no cart curfew signs or anything that's bs definitely not be comin back my tee time was at 450 pm and pace of play is trash people pulling tripods out to film like you tiger woods ??? used to love this place oh well let's keep taking peoples money and still offering tee times at 6pm what a joke read more

DON'T WASTE $95 like I did! The course is in HORRIBLE shape! Water features are dry, 1/3 of the grass is dirt and 1/2 of the grass is brown! To top it off the golfers that play there don't fix ball marks on greens and the staff don't either so every single green is full of bouncy, bumpy putts! They trick you and keep #18 along the entry green so you don't turn around! read more

I really enjoyed playing this but most of it was dirt where there should have been grass. It appears poorly kept. However after reading reviews, I think they might be doing some work. I would return after it is complete because the actual course (back 9) was enjoyable for a beginner. The drink cart attendant was friendly, and the breakfast was good. The course was in pretty rough shape and I would imagine that the recent rains probably contributed to some of that. However, the pace of play was good and the tee boxes and greens were pretty good. Some fairways were good others were pretty bad. Bunkers were pretty much concrete. Not a bad course if you are trying to save some money on your round. read more

Played here and man... this place is rough. Pace of play was painfully slow. Like 5-hour round and still waiting on every shot type slow. You'll have plenty of time to question your life choices. Course conditions were brutal. Fairways are basically dirt with some random patches of grass trying their best. Everything is brown, dry as hell, and just beat up. Tee boxes are a mess. Water features? Yeah... that's not water, that's straight up swamp juice. Best part is you're paying about the same as way better courses in the area. No reason to play here unless everywhere else is booked. 2 stars because the carts ran and I played halfway decent. read more

I played here 12/30/25 and I don't get the bad reviews for this place. The course is fun and difficult, slanted and narrow fairways. Fun challenge for a bad/casual golfer like me but fun challenge also for experienced players. The greens were well maintained too and also fun challenge with elevation changes. Easy to get a tee time, prices for food and beverage were fair and the employees were super friendly. I'll definitely be going back when I visit my family. I wish I lived in the area because the pass that they are part of would be a good deal if you hold enough. read more

This review is not for the entire course. I have not played the course yet. I took a beginner golf clinic with an instructor not related to Kokopelli and I met them here for our chipping and putting class back in October. We started the class inside by the pro shop. The space was clean and the staff was friendly. Again, this was for a chipping and putting class, so we stayed mostly by the putting greens shortly after. From what I could see, the course seemed to be well-kept. There were lots of people at the driving range and a few others by us. We had a great experience during our class. We were provided with everything we needed. I would love to return to Kokopelli and play a round! read more

They show a much lower price online then when I couldn't log in because it would't recognize my temporary password they sent me, they charged me $30 more for calling and booking a tee time. Upon arrival they told me they didn't have enough carts for people to ride by themselves and they required me to ride in the same cart as some other random single. I went to get refund and the kid in the pro shop couldn't get the money to go back on my card so he just gave me cash. DO NOT come here they are extremely unprofessional! read more

So I played Kokopelli twice this past weekend and had 2 very different experiences. I traveled about 40 minutes each day and that is not unusual for me to play a course that I have been wanting to try. I have to say that the staff was super friendly on Sunday and very helpful. It was much more organized on Sunday as well and did not feel like a free for all. The early morning tee time was beautiful although I have to say it was also the biggest negative. Both days we made it through the front 9 at a very good pace of play. When we got to the back it looked like a parking lot because they book early morning tee times to play the back 9. Great for making $$ but horrible for those who get out early to avoid the crowds. Overall the course was in very good shape with some minor repairs being done but welcome to summer golf. Overall a decent experience but not a nice enough course to drive that far and play again. read more

Played Koko for the first time in 4 years today because home track was closed for overseed. Koko has just reopened at the time of this review post their over seed period. Fairways were lush (obviously) and greens were pretty-cut length. Pace of play was about 3hrs 45min. I wanted to come back to this course and find that over 4 years it was a night and day difference. Unfortunately no matter how much you polish an Arcis turd its still and Arcis turd. The drainage on the course is non existent and so standing water is fairly regular which brings mosquitoes and that signature kokosmelli odor. The staff is incredible and the food/beer prices are incredible. Just wish the course was worth playing more often. read more

This 1 star review probably won't do much to change anything but MAYBE it will save you from the experience. My son who plays with his buddies as much as he can, sometimes three to four times a week decided to try out Kokopelli instead of Los Colinas or Augusta ranch who take care of their youth players. Well that was the mistake. He and a few friends who are very respectful headed to Kokopelli around 3:40 for the twilight deal. They each have a youth card (they paid for) and the course showed they honored the cards online. Well the first buddy paid for his round and paid the up charge for a cart, I guess around $30 more. My son went to pay and was charged the cart fee again. He has the money and paid it after pleading with the manager, but that takes from gas money or maybe a slice of pizza he can't get after the round. I know for most of us the cart fee is just standard but for high school kids working to make a few bucks the idea is they only charge the second youth the $5 and let them ride with the full paying buddy. Mind you it's 110 degrees out and NOBODY in their right mind is playing so the course is empty. Hook the kid up. NOPE, the club house guy wouldn't budge. Nor would the manager when asked. "It's standard policy" is what they said. I GET IT, if it was me, fine but to gouge a couple of kids just trying to golf and enjoy a summer day is messed up. Here is where I got upset. He tells me later that the 4th hole was closed or not playable. The course water jugs were empty and trust me I would have been pissed with as hot as it was. The main tunnel under the road was flooded, the greens were crap and in general it wasn't worth the $5 youth fee, let alone the price gouge! So to you reading this I say, pass up Kokopelli until they get the course in shape. To Kokopelli who will read this and chalk it up to the youth being disrespectful or "standard policy." I say to you, learn common decency and treat the kids like you would want courses to treat your teens. The "standard policy" should be let them play for a price they can afford at a time nobody else wants to play. I will happily change or update this review if they make it right and maybe invite them out for another round free to show they actually care. We will see. I am a golf professional, played and been a member of the finest courses throughout the country. Very familiar with the local market. Prior member of Arizona country club and Desert Mountain Club. Traveling through the area I stumbled across this course. At first I was ready to blow it off due to the condition of the range. Range mats and golf balls are worn out, however practice areas for chipping, bunker and putting are in good shape. Entered the clubhouse, old and could use a facelift, but warm and friendly like a small town favorite hangout a rare charm missing these days The pro-shop is well stocked. Due to the friendly environment and good vibes from employees I hit the course. Playing from the tips, I was completely blindsided by the quality and design of the course., In short it was awesome. Challenging to play and in excellent condition. Only a couple of greens scarred with ball marks from the amount of play they get but rolled out nice. I would have given the course five stars, however, bathroom facilities were below average, golf carts were in proper working order but cosmetically worn, and driving range in need of new target pins, mats and balls. I'm sure that the staff is on top of it and in the future this will become a true five star facility. In conclusion I'd rather play this great course with a low pressure and friendly environment lacking perfect amenities, then a great course with state-of-the-art facilities where you sense a commercialized environment. I rarely write reviews but for some reason this place hit me in the spot where it deserves some praise. If you're looking for a good time and a challenge to your game, play this course. I have to get a dig in for Srixon golf products. Srixon irons are amazing. If you want to increase distance with accuracy, experience the forgiveness of a top quality product. Go hit them at your local retailer. Most exciting is Srixon introduced new drivers that rival all drivers for distance, forgiveness and control. The new z-star balls give results you'd expect from a tour quality product, and Cleveland wedges are simply the best. read more

They call it golf because well, all the other four-letter words were taken. I am pretty forgiving when it comes to golf courses because if you basically have decent greens, good service, and a beer cart girl, you have the makings of a good golf course. It's been awhile since I played here, being a drive from Paradise Valley. Snagged a decent tee time for our group and was excited to play on a Saturday. Kokopelli is also part of the Arcis Player Pass so thought we would try it out. I have to say for the winter rate, it is fairly reasonable. First off, I could not determine if the course was a marsh or if it was a desert landscape. Unbeknownst to me, the sprinkler system literally drowns the greens and you are traipsing in swamp. I have never had so much mud on my clubs or shoes. I felt bad for the guys at cart return having to clean them. Secondly, the groups we were playing behind had no clue about play pace. It's hard when you have great shots and trying to keep your momentum and end up with a long wait. It can be annoying to yell out FORE every time. My last peeve was that the cart girl left for the day when we had just teed off. Had that been made known, I would have purchased the entire selection of beer and snacks at the pro shop before teeing off. Playing 18 holes for me burns at least 3,000 calories and about 12,000 steps. Despite all this, I played one of my best back nines with a score of 37. One putt and a lot of great drives kept my scorecard low. We all know golf is really the game of playing fetch with yourself. I recommend patience, a drink before hand, and one big towel for playing out here. read more

But what made it a really bad experience was the lack of a ranger doing anything for the pace of play. 5 hour round with a 10am tee time because of a single slow group ahead. Arizona Golf bucket list, check! In Gilbert for Thanksgiving gathering and we had golf on the 'menu'! What better way to spend a Friday after Thanksgiving than time on the course with family! I was told by the local family the course has run down over the recent years and I can easily see it. There are many large bare spots void of any sort of green through out the fairways. There are several holes that are Par 4 or 5 that are 'cart path only' which is a PIA. The tee boxes are in good shape and the greens are OK. They have a decent driving range and practice chipping area. I like that they have a 'DJ' in the club house who announces the 'on deck' group and the 'ready now' group on the tee box. At $75 bucks it's a little pricey and I would suggest you pay a little more and play a better quality golf course. read more

Course is in poor condition and each hole was full of undulations, mounds of either dirt or brown grass. Avoid playing here, it's just no fun at all. It's the worse course I've played on so far during my visit to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. This place is garbage, fairways, bunkers, greens, all of it. Played on a Saturday morning and was told the back up on EVERY hole was due to their "Starter" being out. Too many tee times on a Saturday and not monitoring pace of play is a crappy way to run a course. We left after 9 holes when #10 literally had 3 groups on the hole and 2 waiting. This place isn't worth $2 much less $75 or whatever we paid. I blame myself, lol. I should have known better, I played a scramble tournament there 4-5months back and the round was about 5.5 hours and was one of the worst run tournaments I have ever done. (Started late, food was shit, contests were a joke, winner scored a Kim Jong Un style round. Dont play here. It may be tempting when you can't find a tee time around the valley, but don't. Don't give them money for a shitty course and shitty management. However I will say the dude that served me an over priced hot dog was pretty chill; hopefully he makes it out of there. read more

Avoid this course until the "work" is done. Played it today and the front 9 was unplayable. They had it closed for 2 weeks for improvements. Give them credit they are working hard on a poor design. Several areas had been sodded and others seeded. Lots of areas roped off, but still more casual water than grass off the fairways. More bare dirt areas than the water and grass combined. And since they are watering the crap out of it the dirt is now mud. I was filthy after the round. They haven't mown the little amount of grass in the rough because of the enormous amount of water put on the course. I lost 3 balls between the cart path and fairway. Another person in our group lost 2. On only 9 holes! I walked off the course after that. We were playing in a league, so by the rules and stroke and distance for lost ball. Staff is great and they new ownership is trying to battle the poor design and lack of grass, but it's a HUGE uphill battle. Don't let the website pictures of rolling green grass fool you. It's mostly dirt, now MUD. read more

Today 4/5 I'd say yes. In pretty good shape, greens, fairways and rough all in good shape. Always notorious for terrible bunkers they were all in great shape with soft playable sand. Pace of play was incredible. We were a 8:19 foursome and were behind two other foursomes and were done by 12:30. Still some drainage issues but overall in the shape it was today I'd play again. read more

The Marshalls had absolute sticks up their asses. Damn near every other hole, they drive by and scold us for slow play. We're playing as quick as we can, waiting for 5 mins for group in front of us to play, nothing we can do about it. Will definitely not be returning, getting rushed because some group ahead is slow. Get out of our face and stop killing the vibe. Even the random pair we were with were pissed off with the Marshalls attitude. Their marshal, kieth, will harass you at least 5 times during the round (to skip holes or move up a tee box) if you are playing at a 4hr pace (score card says 4h30m) Essentially this senile octogenarian gentleman will make it his mission to make your already speedy round as unpleasant as possible. He has no idea your current pace, but will hold you accountable to speeding up nevertheless. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and $90! Wont be coming back! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. To drive 40 minutes and pay $85 to play this sandbox was super disappointing. Some of the reviews attest to this. As an avid golfer that likes to try different courses, one would expect a municipal/city course to be in this shape. Bunkers played and looked like they haven't been raked in months and vegetation growing in the bunkers make this statement accurate. Might as well hit off the pavement than in the bunkers. Fairways and greens left something to be desired as well. Over-seeding did nothing for this course other than make it worse and not that playable. Debris from cutdown trees left scattered on every hole. Looked more like playing in a field of a farm. Friends that arrived before me purchases balls and weren't able to hit them as there were none left at 11:30am. Really? They also ordered food 30 minutes prior to the tee time in which it had to be delivered to hole number #4 whilst playing because the cafe was in disarray. Food was cold, soggy and stale tasting upon them eating it. Long story short - don't waste your time, money and gas playing this course. Such an epic letdown. read more

Played here again and dang, could be such a good place. Staff are decently friendly but course conditions are really atrocious. Ownership keeps saying making huge strides, but not evident. Range is closed on Mondays and when it rains, can be closed for days. Drainage on range, and entire course is really a big problem. Clover rules on the fairways. This place needs a ton of work and really should not be an Arcis course. Good for beginners, but nowhere near worth the price to play. Bummer. read more

I've played this golf course twice over The last few months and the course gets worse each time. Today, our tee time was over twenty minutes late at a cost of $52 which in itself we were happy to pay just to play. Once on the course we became very frustrated at the pace of play as rangers were non existent and the group ahead of us were consistently a hole behind the entire round. We found there to be NO Beverage cart and the restaurant closed at 4 so no frosty beverages after the round. Amenities on the course were horrible. The sand traps had hard packed dirt (Except the bunkers at the 9th green). We played the bunkers as ground under repair and took drops outside the bunkers. Every single fairway was so barren of grass that it was hard to hold the fairways and we would play mostly out of the dirt. On the positive side, we did obtain an awful lot of roll. I was hitting my 3 wood 300 yards off the tee. This time of year in the Metro Phoenix area golf courses are geared for snowbirds and have their courses at optimum conditions to avoid reviews like this. As a golfer of over 50 years, having played all over the world, and becoming a member of the PGA, I am embarrassed to recommend this course, under these conditions, to any golfer no matter what skill level. Now, we must try to understand this course may not have the revenue or capital to make improvements needed to bring this course up to reasonable expectations. Sand in the bunkers would be a great start. On course beverage carts and a restaurant serving food and drinks after 4 PM on the weekend would also go a long way to improving the attitudes of golfers visiting this course. I hope this review acts as an impetus toward a better, more enjoyable golf course. read more
