I was a bit disappointed the last time we ate lunch here, though I suspect I might have fared better if I had chosen something else. I went with the half-pound steak burger, and it was okay, but not juicy at all. Perhaps I should have gone with something more in their wheelhouse like, um, steak. I selected seasoned fries because they showed no picture of them and maybe I envisioned something a bit crusty like I have gotten elsewhere. But they were literally seasoned fries, just fries sprinkled with spices of some sort. Neither the fries or the burger was what I would call hot. My companions were happy with their selections, one with a salad and the other a soup and salad duo. So like I say, I will try something else next time. I mean, I cooked myself a better burger a few days later on the grill, and that ain't right! But to end on a better note, the watermelon lemonade was delish. Refill, please! We were told we couldn't do that because of the servers having to manage so many tables. We finally told the host we would wait for a booth and had to go back in the lobby and wait for a booth in a different area to be available. We got the spinach dip as an appetizer. He had a salad and I had the french onion soup. The soup was delicious but had almost too much cheese! I would have preferred more delicious onion broth. The dip was good but I missed artichokes. The steak was cooked well, could have used more of a crust and been thicker, it seemed a bit thin. The crispy Brussels sprouts were very good, a tad too much oil though. But deliciously crispy on the exterior, soft but not overcooked interior. Sweet with a bit of spice. Yummy. The bread and butter were delicious. Our server was pleasant and not overly friendly. Could have been a little friendlier but she was attentive but not too much. PURE FILTH, DISGUSTING AND DESERVING OF NO STARS. I gave my elderly in-laws a gift card to this place for Christmas since they rarely treat themselves to meals out. I was mortified when they told me what transpired at this wretched place. My father in law took was eating his steak when something didn't seem right - and pulled out a long piece of hair. I would have puked right then and there. My mother in law told him to say something but he didn't want to make a fuss. The next bite - and another long piece of hair. What nasty dirty SHEDDING dirtbag is preparing this food? One piece of hair in ones food bad enough but two? I am aghast by the lack of hygiene and sanitary procedures here. I have years of volunteer experience in various homeless shelters in Boston. They ALL require wearIng something to cover your head such as a baseball cap or bandana and if you don't arrive with one, they provide you with a hairnet. Additionally, plastic gloves are worn at all times. Meanwhile, you pay for steaks at this dump and they give you lice filled hair for free. How revolting. Needless to say, my father in law was unable to let it slide after the second piece of hair. His steak was comped and my mother in law received a free dessert. Geez thanks. We ate here twice during recent visits to Bangor and enjoyed each very much. It's a chain operation, of course, but there's not one close to us and we've usually eaten well here. We had Flo's Filet on each trip and found it cooked exactly as we asked (medium rare), juicy and tasty. It's been a reliably good menu item for us. The creamed parmesan spinach proved to be a delightful side. The service was good even though our waitress had one large table to contend with. Very good chain restaurant we went as a party of three Two of us ordered the steak tips. They were delicious but a bit on the salty side and my aunt ordered the crusted chicken which she said was also a bit too salty. For sides two of us ordered sweet potato with just butter and my sister ordered a baked potato which was cold and sent it back which they replaced with a hot potato and we all had a salad for a side. So my salad, the chicken buttermilk was delicious. Large size, was able to take 1/2 home. No rush for lunch which was nice. Two things really bothered me. The hostesses upon coming in, were more focused on their computer than they were the real people standing in front of them. I think this is generational, but it drives me nuts. Then a $14.02 lunch bill where I left a $20 bill. The change returned was a single dollar and a $5 bill. I guess this means the server wanted a $5 tip (36%). Can't we teach servers to give change that allows a good tip? She had originally though I wanted to leave a $6 tip and was surprised when I asked for change. Maybe cash is unusual? read more

We recently had an amazing dinner here. Our group had 2 porterhouses and a 1/2 rack of ribs. We also had the perfect margarita and the house pale ale. The steaks were melt in your mouth and beautifully seasoned. The ribs were flavorful and the meat was falling off the bones. The honey glazed brussels sprouts were fabulous and don't miss out on the Texas tonion! The house ale paired very well with the meal. After three years in the area, this is my favorite steakhouse in town. The Big Sky Burger is still one of the best burgers I've ever had, and the steak is phenomenal. They also have very good ribs.
