Had so much fun ax, throwing for my sister's bachelorette party. The guy who walked us through the rules was super kind and efficient and gave us lots of choices for items that we were going to use as our weapon weapons. There was also a band playing while we were there that evening, which was really nice and unexpected I can't speak to the food, but the drinks were well poured and delicious

Pick two platter for $25.... Pulled pork, 3 piece rib choice 2 sides, also garlic toast & pickle chips.

Simply stated, excellent BBQ. What a cool concept really! A bbq joint with axe throwing! We arrived closer to 8pm on a Wednesday night and the place was not busy, no one was axe throwing at the time. They have a great menu but I am usually geared to a pick two platter; pulled pork and 3 piece rib dinner with choice of two sides; the bbq dusted fresh cut fries and spicy baked beans, also comes with garlic toast and a few bites of pickle chips. It was a lot of food!! Skimpy portions- NOT here. I actually received four large ribs and a mountain of pulled pork. They have a variety of bbq sauces to top them off. Too full to try one of their desserts, including a bread pudding which sounded delightful. Ambiance is fun and would be a great location for a large group, and again would be fun to do a little axe throwing before or after a meal. Good value and reasonable prices.

We had two double smash burgers with fries, 3 beers, and a side of jalapeño cheddar hushpuppies for just over $30.

Love what the new owners have done with the place already in just a couple weeks let alone what they have in store for the coming months. The food and service was outstanding. We had two double smash burgers with fries, 3 beers, and a side of jalapeño cheddar hushpuppies for just over $30. Then they even comped my buddy's burger for Veteran's Day. If you haven't been here yet, or haven't been for awhile, definitely stop in and give it a try.

After eating dinner elsewhere, my wife suggested we do some axe throwing as I had discovered this place while searching things to do. We saw that it was still opened for a few hours, and decided to come on down. We had a fun time. We did not have any food here, but you sure could smell the BBQ throughout the whole place. We told the young lady at the door we only wanted to throw. We signed the waivers, my wife had to get one of their clean pair of Crocks as she did not have closed-toe shoes on, and we were given about a five-minute safety lecture and tutorial on throwing the axes. I had done this before but my wife hadn't so we were in for a treat. It took a while for both of us to get our throwing arms in order, but we both did somewhat well. Lots of misses, but we both finally did get the bullseye - see our pictures - and we really hit them. Overall, my wife won a few games and I won a few more. We both tried our best except for the last game, I threw opposite handed and still won. Wife was just getting tired after the hour was almost over. $20 per person per hour. They offered a 10% law enforcement discount as a military discount. We both had a good time.

Burnt ends and the 2 meat platter: brisket & pulled pork. Overall delicious!

My husband and I went here the other night for my birthday, and it did not disappoint! The burnt ends were delicious and well sauced, the only con was that they were on the fattier side. My husband was over the moon about the BBQ tots, and said they were the best tots he's ever had! The 2 meat platter (brisket & pulled pork) was wonderful as well, especially the brisket! The brisket was absolute perfection, and the sauces provided at the table were extremely well suited with the meats. The Carolina barbecue sauce was 10/10! Our only real criticisms were that the burnt ends / pulled pork were a bit on the fatty side, and the Mac and cheese was a bit dry (but ALL were still tasty!) Staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. Fun place with a side of axe throwing! Will definitely be back.

I was a little skeptical because this place comes off more as a sports bar with Axe throwing lanes, but I didn't find much else in the way of BBQ joints up in or around Bangor so it wasn't like a tough decision. Besides the food this place actually is pretty decent. Big bar, lots of TV's, everyone having a good time, plenty of tables, Menu was extensive. I was impressed. And then I saw the description on the menus explaining that everything is served Naked (with no sauce slathered all over it) and the meat is not quite fall off the bones. This place already scored a 9 out of 10 just for admitting that. I think a lot of people outside of the BBQ belt loop (NC, TN, AL, TX, GA) have been brainwashed into thinking "Fall off the Bone" and "Sauced" means great BBQ. One thing I didn't like was that the Ribs are not a meat choice when ordering the 2 meat combo. The 4 meats to choose from are Pulled Pork, Chicken, Brisket, and W.A. Bean and Sons Sausage (A 160 year old Bangor Meats Company recognized as one of the greatest butcher shops in the country) They had platters for Steaks and Ribs individually. The Steaks make more sense to me because it's not like they'll cook a third of the steak to accommodate a 2 meat combo meal. But Ribs you can easily do that, adjust the price like every else. Idk. I did really appreciate the use of the W.A. Bean and Sons Sausages though. Southern understanding of good BBQ and a Northern Understanding of History and Community. Love it. Just ended up getting the rib platter with Mac and Cheese and Beans. Started off with some BBQ Taquitos. The chef switches the meats he uses in the Taquitos every day. Quite honestly it was just shredded leftover meat in a flakey pastry wrap. Nothing to really complain about. Just nothing special. Avocado dipping sauce to save the day. Ribs. Right off the bat they looked amazing, precut (thank you), smelled incredible, taste was a bit more moist than I like. Menu said St. Louis style but ... idk, I'm pretty convinced those were Baby Backs. Doesn't matter to me if they were or not but I'd think a real BBQ Hard Core dude might start breaking things. Came out naked like they said. Meat was still fall off the bone though, might've sat in the smoker for a little too long. No tug at all. Idk if "Fall off" to them means meat sliding off if you hold it vertically by the bone, in which case No it didn't do that. But I could easily peel it clean off the bone. Good taste to the meat though but a bit too smokey. Rub was okay, a bit oily for my liking, Couldn't continue eating naked, had to eat the rest with the sauces. I feel like this wasn't their sought after batch though. Mac and Cheese was that traditional mushy style but a bit of natural cheese grit to it, not melted goo sauce. Bit of black pepper in there to save the day, not bad. Beans had the texture of Bushes baked beans, gravy was liquidy, but the taste was a nice sweet and smokey taste, garlic, not bad. Came with some pickles and Texas toast which is always a great sign. Pickles were good but a little too dilly, very powerful. And the Texas Toast sure as hell tasted like the frozen stuff you get at the store. Not that it was bad, I'm more thankful that they even offered it. And when I see Banana Pudding on a menu, I will fight people to make sure I get some. And I have to say ... this is probably the 2nd best Banana Pudding I've ever had. I think if it was made fresh that day it would be a contender for the best. Things get a little iffy when I can't tell if it's a super absorbed wafer or an overly ripened banana. But either way it was amazing. It might have cheated a little bit by throwing in some maple syrup or cinnamon syrup or something but heck, 2nd place is damn good. So the pudding helped the score a lot, but everything else was right in that "It's not great but it's definitely good enough" area. And I would have left it at a 4 which was more like a high 3 so I might as well give em the 4. But unfortunately I was making it painfully obvious that I was done with my meal for about 25 minutes and it's like they forgot about me. I sat at the bar, bartender was doing her thing and I get that, but it was just busy work mostly, not serving drinks, that place wasn't that busy. They even had other servers walking right in front of where I was sitting and clearly seeing I was done and wanted to go yet nobody bothered to say or do anything. Finally after what must have been a good 30 minutes I was able to pay and leave. Sorry but that stuff really tips the bar one way or another when the food doesn't blow me away.

Decent bbq, the sweet potato fries were really good. I wish they'd serve cornbread instead of the toast garlic bread.

Stopped by The Grind House on my way through from Bar Harbor to Boston Logan International…read more I was excited to see an impossible breakfast sandwich on the menu as well as a peanut butter mocha. Seriously, two of my favorite things to see on a coffee house menu. That said the execution was a bit off for me. The Impossible breakfast sandwich was served on an insubstantial bun (the type that is more air than anything) and was overall pretty basic. Their signature sauce mentioned in several dishes, seems to be thousand island or maybe tartar sauce? Either way, it wasn't my favorite. The peanut butter mocha was also a bit of a miss for me. I wasn't a fan of either their chocolate or their espresso (or the peanut butter flavor they used, for that matter). The shop itself is quirky and comfortable. We were able to get a spot by the windows, which was nice and the service was lovely. It would definitely be a good and comfortable spot for working and it could be that had I ordered differently, it may have been more my cup of tea (or coffee, as they case may be). But for what I ordered, it was a bit of a swing and a miss.

I chose a egg and cheese on a croissant bun and a caramel turtle latte. I came here because it had been highly recommended, but I have to say, I expected more, but depends on what you like, right?? Plenty of seating, centrally located in the city, easy parking, and plenty of coffee concoctions to try out. My coffee was missing the whipped cream, but oh well. The froth for the latte was odd, it deflated super quickly, not sure what happened there. And the sweetness was sweet, but it was missing that caramel turtle flavor I thought I was going to get. For me, this was meh. I expected something more decadent. My egg sandwich was good. Basic. Not a real croissant either. It was a croissant bun of some sort. It seemed, well, basic, or economical. But it was filling and the egg was good. I also have to say that when I departed, I smelled like a convenience store that sells those hotdogs on rollers... I smelled all day, I had to wash my hair to get the smell out. I also have to mention the heavy music that was playing. It was obscene and it was loud. So loud it made it challenging to order and I did eat my meal quickly and leave. It was a Tuesday morning around 9 am. But hey I am getting older so this may not have been a good choice for me.

That kind of ambition only matters if the execution is there, and Urban Pizza absolutely delivers. My personal favorite is their Detroit style. They nail all the elements that make it special: a crisp, caramelized edge, airy interior, and the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and texture. It's clear they understand what makes each style unique, because their other pies are on point as well. They use fresh ingredients, flavorful sauces tailored to each specific style, and quality cheese that shines through in every bite. Their ovens also do a great job creating the right crispiness on both the base and crust. Another huge plus is that Urban offers pizza by the slice, and not just the standard cheese and pepperoni. They have real specialty slices available - something I loved having when I lived in New Jersey and have missed since moving to Maine.
