Great location, easy on and off the highway to have dinner. Wait was short and sweet for a 5p dinner hour. Decor is one of sports and country theme. Music and TVs set up with country music. Server was efficient and friendly. Often checked in to see how we were doing. Steals picked out of the case for my two guys and a combo for of steak and ribs. Drinks came in a timely manner and dessert offered but no room for. To go box needed. We enjoy this franchise and seem to have great service where ever we go whether in Portland, Maine or Long Island NY it's the consistency that makes this a great establishment. We arrived at a busy time on a Saturday night and were pleased that they were able to fit us in within ten minutes- which was a good thing because the two waiting areas were so hot we were in danger of becoming a steak ourselves. We had three kids in tow. Peanuts, though advertised, were not on the table but an empty, unclean bucket was. We asked for some and the friendly hostess hooked us up with two bags worth. We had no issue with the atmosphere, despite it being packed, and despite proximity to the bar and about six televisions playing four different things people were being courteous and quiet. Families were well-represented, as were two-person tables. The server was prompt and attentive and returned about as often as was necessary. As for food... I would avoid the three-choice appetizer: fried cuke rounds, barbecued pork, mozzarella sticks. Only the cukes were...delicious. Barbecue sauce was sickeningly sweet and overwhelming. I ordered plain water and drank three glasses of it during the course of the meal because everything was salty. Four of us had steaks which were done as ordered but lacked seasoning and sauce. On the dry side but not bad. Baked potato was massive and salty. The kabob was just right but the bed of rice was, you guessed it, over-seasoned and over-salted. And such small portions. Caesar salads lacked taste, mostly because grated cheese was almost nonexistent. Very bland dressing. I think we all agreed the exceptionally large fries were soggy. I don't think either the prices or the food quality were draw enough to want to go back and besides this, I'm probably right at my sodium allowance for the month, after that meal. Good old reliable Texas Roadhouse. It's a chain, but one of the good guys. Steaks are on the menu and they do meat fairly well. Salad and potato round out the meal, and frankly, it's what I am craving when I go there. Service is adequate and lack luster. They get the food on the table with little fanfare. The rolls are the star--yeasty pillows slathered is cinnamon butter--a meal in themselves. Order extra, you can thank me later. Seating is ample, and the music is country. We waited about fifteen minutes to be seated and our server, Melinda, was right there to take our drink orders which were delivered in a timely manner. Anne and I split an 11oz NY strip pictured. We came on a Friday night, a usual ambiance. Unfortunately, this was the worst location we've been to. I'm usually a proponent of "it's not the waitresses fault", but this time it was different. Not only did we wait 50 minutes for our food, but we had to ask for our Salads when they never came out. Don't they usually come out first? Well,, after a full day of walking around aimlessly looking at trees, cliffs and shoreline. One can get pretty famished. The hubby for some reason wasnt fancying anything touristy like, Lobsta. So we look one of these guys up and so is the reason why were here. My caesar salad was winning. Onion appetizer was superb and My prime rib was perfection. I definitely had a darn good meal here. Service was pretty on point. Our server waa very nice, definitely took good care of us. All the cues were there and not a beat missed. Checked in on us whenever he had a bit of wiggle room. I ordered a cactus blossom and I think I waited about half an hour and it still never came out. when my food came out (ribeye) the server asked me if it was cooked well and I ordered it medium well, it came out rare so I sent it back waiting another 20 minutes for them to cook it again and when it came back out it was still bloody. the service was terrible, the servers were rude and just walked away when I was asking for something. read more

The entrance way at the Roadhouse is always chaotic, crowded, and loud. Always, no matter where I go; but the food is always on point. What really differentiates the individual experience in these restaurants everytime is the staff. They singlehandedly make or break the whole customer experience on any given night. As a frequent customer of Texas Roadhouse what an absolute disappointment and we will never go here again. My husband and I ordered 2 Ribeyes, both medium. I received mine raw and his was well done. We sent the steaks back, I received a new one cooked correctly within 5ish minutes; my husband on the other had to wait 30 minutes to get his recooked steak-I was pretty much already done with my meal as my cut of steak was disgusting, extremely rough cut of meat with mostly all fat. (Attached are pictures of the rough, fatty cut of meats that couldn't be eaten) My husbands second steak was the same. Zero taste for either steak and the buns were cold and burnt as well! He complained to waitress which is something we never do. I am surprised as every Roadhouse, regardless of what State we are in, the Manager always comes over to check on your meal-well not tonight, the waitress said well I need to let my manager know and she comes back as says well I can take $15.00 off the bill, mind you my husband steak was $20.99... never received that poor of service at a Roadhouse-apparently the Manager couldn't even be bothered even though there were only about 5 tables of customers. . As the restaurant industry changes rules here and there for their patrons, I have never heard of the "seating" rule here at the Texas Roadhouse in Bangor Maine. Excited to eat here, my party shows up with the exception of one, mind you, on their way maybe 5 minutes or so. My party consisted of 7 and we had 6 ready to eat and eager to be seated. The hostess without any compassion, looks at me and with an un-respectable manner, says, "Sorry, we cannot seat you until your full party arrives". I say politely, why is that, they are almost here and we just want to sit. Again, I get, "Sorry!...Policy says all the members of the policy needs to be here because we have to put the table together and cannot hold it in case a "full party" arrives. Here I am saying to myself, ok, maybe the roadhouse has to work extra hard to put tables and chairs together so I'll be patient. At this time, a few minutes later the last person in our party shows up. We walk up, they seat us and it is in a 6 person booth with a single chair on the end that they grabbed from somewhere. Case and point, 6 person booth! 6 person booth!!! SMH! We got the semi-aggressive cold shoulder before being seated with 6 people already here. This is unacceptable given that we could of been seated at the time we walked in and instead would make an elderly person within our party wait. I'm actually tired of ranting. Hopefully this will change their "procedure" and this chain can train their young hostess to not be so black and white given the circumstances. Came to this location for dinner with family and Texas Roadhouse never disappoints. They are always consistent with good steaks, good service, and consistently always busy! This particular visit was just as great as others and at other locations. Our server was also super accommodating with some of our food requests and everything came out of the kitchen perfectly cooked to order. We even asked for extra rolls to take home and our server happily brought over extra baskets :) Definitely call ahead and add your name to the "call ahead" less to shorten your wait time. read more

I have dined here many times before this review and the consistency is the real problem here. Some days are fabulous others are mediocre. Some days the kitchen is fast and accurate others it is slow and ( hate to say it ) sloppy. The consistent thing is the service, the waiters and waitresses here on all visits have been exceptional. The early dine ( before 5 pm) was a good selling point as several entrees were $2 or $3 dollars off regular price but with the recent menu they are now only $1 less than regular price. I can only say that when you visit here you have a very good chance of a wonderful time but be prepared for those average experiences as they do happen often. read more

If you have Celiacs Disease do not go there!! First of all, I asked for a gluten free menu no one could find one then they said they don't have one but I could ask questions. I thought the internet probably would be more reliable. There are very few options for people that have a gluten allergy. There was a notation stating to ask your server to ask items without shortening/bacon fat. I tried to order just a plan baked potato without baking fat. The waitress looked at me like I was speaking a different language. She said she would check with the kitchen. That was a no go, if I wanted a plain potato without bacon fat would take an hour. And you know what, Texas Roadhouse did not disappoint. I got the ribeye, ribs, and baked beans on the side and mmm mmm mmm. All that for like $14 I think. I mean Outback and Black Angus cost way more and you just stomach the food. AND OH MY their HOUSE BRREEEEAAAADDDDD!!!! And APPLE BUTTER!!! I've been to this restaurant more than any other restaurant. Probably 100 times and many different locations. The last 5 times I've been there, Bangor location, is a disappointment. Did they just change how they cook their food and temperature standards? I always order medium-rare. 1. Med rare prime rib but they give me an end piece. That means is not med rare throughout the steak 2. Med rare prime rib but end piece again 3. Ribeye, slightly overcooked 4. Hand picked Ribeye cooked perfect inside but burned both side. I was biting into charcoal to get to my med rare steak 5. Prime rib, order RARE at lunch this time and was told they only have med rare when I asked waitress what I ordered after they bought out the food. It was still slightly over cook. Not the med rare Texas Roadhouse always serve. My dad's porterhouse was well done when he ordered med rare. They did recook him another piece and took it off the bill bc by the time it was bought out everyone is already finished read more
