I am a big fan of Longhorn and decided to try this location in Flowood while staying overnight for work. I got there shortly after 5pm on a Thursday, so it wasn't very busy and I was seated immediately. Service was absolutely perfect. I don't remember the waiter's name but he was friendly and quick. My drink never went empty, and he kept coming with bread, my app, my salad, and my entree. I had the filet, which was cooked perfectly, and everything else was just right. How does this place stay in business? I know not to expect high fine dining in a chain restaurant, but there should be a minimal consistent quality. Everything is wrong here. Very understaffed with preposterously long wait, despite empty tables. Once seated the bad news continues. Waitstaff slow and inattentive. (By the way, stop with the stupid tricks, like not writing down orders for groups of six and then getting orders wrong). Kitchen reprehensible with food grossly overseasoned and overcooked. Medium rare presented as well done, but no sense in sending the trash back, as you will not see the waitress again for a half hour. Salads come out after the mains, drinks slow to refill and sides too salty to eat. Dining room chaotic and dirty. I asked the staff why no one was seated and they told me they were in the "rotation"?? We ordered carry out a few days ago. Got home and opened my salad only to find a LIVE BUG!! In the salad. Called the manager and was given $5 gift card. Joy. Today we decided to use it because, why not? One more chance for the restaurant we used to love in Houston. Ordered our food, get home and THE FOOD IS OLD! Literally the chicken is old and looks like one piece was bitten out of. The mashed potatoes were brown in places and the steak was cold in the middle and the Parmesan crust wasn't even partly melted. Yuck!. Clearly none of this food was cook fresh! This is a regular spot that me and my bestie go to. I LOVE the food. The service was bad at first (during the pandemic especially but it's understandable) BUT I will say they have stepped up their game. So I am pleased and happy. I usually get the Parmesan Crusted Chicken or the Salmon. Both are quite Devine! I will say the wait is usually long especially on weekend so make sure to check in online to get a spot on the list. I have never really been to the steakhouse very much. I watch the top 20 best franchise steakhouses in the US and this was number three or four. I always thought it was like Logan's operations(which are not very good especially for the price you pay. Same with outback.) and shy away. Went there... Price is right... Steak is delicious... This restaurant just opened 5 days ago and I've already been twice. If it weren't for the fact it just opened, I'd have given it 5 stars instead of 4! Unfortunately, many restaurants get off to an awesome start at the beginning and then decline. I really hope this isn't the case with this Longhorn and they continue to stay on point. I'll make sure to do an updated review in a couple of months, and if everything continues as it has during my first two visits, I'll be giving them the 5 stars. Service was excellent during both visits. The servers came quickly after we were seated, were friendly, kept drinks filled, got the orders correct, checked on us often to make sure everything was ok, and got the bill to us promptly. A manager came around at each visit towards the end of our meal offering a smile and inquiring as to how we enjoyed everything. I always think this is a nice touch. Before I talk about the scrumptious food, I want to point out the excellent flow of the meal. All too often, the main dish comes out just after you have started to eat your salad, or they bring the main dish out 20 seconds after they have just dropped off the appetizer. It's always annoying - at least to me it is. Here, they managed to time everything perfectly. We were able to enjoy each course with the perfect amount of time in between courses. Now... on to the food! My first visit, I ordered the 6 oz bacon-wrapped bourbon sirloin. As a general rule, I do not order sirloin because it tends to be tough. This was not the case! My steak was very tender and was cooked to the perfect temperature. What's that? I didn't have to send my steak back for being improperly cooked?! I was thoroughly impressed! It had carmelized onion and bacon pieces on top and the sweet bourbon flavoring was wonderful. It also came with some of the bourbon flavoring on the side. This steak was pure heaven for my taste buds! My second visit, I ordered the parmesan crusted chicken. The portion size was impressive - 2 large chicken breasts. This meant one for dinner and one to bring home for lunch the next day - Bonus! The cheese was plentiful and was melted perfectly over the chicken. The chicken was juicy aand the flavor exploded in my mouth. Again, pure heaven for my taste buds! I love the warm honey wheat bread they bring just after being seated. The outside is nice and crisp and the inside of the loaf is perfectly soft. The house salads are a nice portion size and the lettuce was nice and leafy. A house salad is just a house salad, so not a lot to say. The baked potatoes come loaded and were large and perfectly cooked. I feel the potatoes are worth mentioning because all to often, at other restaurants, I get a baked potato that is either undercooked or overcooked, and sometimes very tiny. I was too stuffed to have dessert, but on the second visit, I gave in to temptation and ordered a slice of the cheesecake to go. Most excellent cheesecake! The piece was huge - great for 2 people to share! Since they just opened, expect to have a long wait for a table. To avoid said wait, go during the middle of the afternoon or half an hour before they close and you should be seated right away. I foresee problems at future visits because I fear I won't be able to choose between the bourbon steak and the parmesan chicken. I guess that's a problem I'm going to have to endure because I plan on returning again very soon! read more

The restaurant was only a quarter full and we were told there would be a 20-25 minute wait. We decided we didn't mind waiting so we stayed. After waiting 45 minutes they began to seat people who came in after us. When we questioned what was going on and why we were not being seated they told us that they still had 5 groups ahead of us. One of the nice couples who got seated before us offered to let us have their table but we had enough of longhorn steakhouse by that point. The manager was unhelpful and spoke to us condescendingly. This is such a hit-or-miss location. What the owners mastered was location, location, location! So many people in the area choose this restaurant because it's "right there." I only work a few short minutes from here. Longhorn has a pleasing menu with great portions. There is something for everyone. Unfortunately, they are suffering from what seems to be prevalent in today's society and that is insufficient staff. This leads to poor service. My family and I arrived at the restaurant around 7:30pm on a Saturday. They close at 11:00pm. We expected somewhat of a wait due to it being the weekend. We checked-in and were told that it would be an hour wait. We accepted the wait and sat outside on the benches, chatting and people watching. An hour passed and because I understand how this is just an estimate, I gave it another 15 minutes. No text. I went inside at this point to inquire about the wait and no one was at the hostess station. I continued to wait, standing there behind a couple of other people and a few employees walked by but none inquired to see if assistance was needed. I noticed that some of the people who were outside waiting with us, whom I assumed were seated, had just moved to the waiting area inside. After we griped aloud with each other in line, someone appeared after about 30 minutes of standing (my family had come inside from sitting outside; they joked that they thought I had began eating without them because I was gone so long and had not returned) I explained that I've been waiting and she tells me it would be about 15 more minutes. Well, I've waited almost 2 hours at this point, so what's 15 more minutes. We wait the 15, 15 turns into 30, and then I proceed to the hostess station again. Only to hear how they don't have enough staff and that guest who were seated over an hour ago still had not eaten. The hostesses state they were waiting on this, so she went to check with the kitchen. She came back and stated that the kitchen was 45 minutes behind. At this time, they didn't even offer to seat my family and I. They just stood there looking at me like "you can continue to wait or you can go." Well, I finally took them up on the offer to leave. It seemed that they were trying to deter patrons the entire time. When I told them that we were leaving, no one offered an apology or even said let me speak to my manager. I have reported this restaurant online before for another poor service issue and I didn't even care to do it this time because a $25 gift card could not make me a customer of this restaurant ever again. Another staff member Abby swooped in said she would wait on me. She helped me picked the perfect seat that made me feel comfortable as a party of 1. She was knowledge about items on the menu and very compassionate. I told her I saw some bad reviews. She assured me that if my steak wasn't cooked to my liking, I would get a new one. I said that it would be a long time before we see the inside of a restaurant again (party of 7 with 2 in high chairs is hard to do for many restaurants ), so we wanted to go somewhere decent; better than Olive Garden but not necessarily Ruth's Chris. Made a to-go order and arrived at 1:51. Then I called inside to let the staff know. I was told it would be right out. I waited 20 more minutes to Call back. After the phone call being transferred to 3 different people, I was told that the order was ready. I told them what parking space I was in and waited another 5 minutes to walk in to check on my order. I wasn't promptly approached, but I did wait patiently until I was addressed. Once I got to my vehicle, I did notice that the steak was lukewarm at best and that the oil/fat from the steak began to solidify, so that was telling that it was cold. There needs to be a better system for curbside order, particularly better communication. I would understand if the restaurant was busy, but it was no more that 20 patrons in the whole restaurant and it was well after the lunch rush. *PS. My steak looks over cooked. I have been here several times both pre- and Post- COVID. While I usually take into consideration the staffing situation, this visit tonight was an exception. They appeared to be well staffed. That being said, my waitress Tiyana, was horrible. Never smiled, was very terse in her conversation. I don't even think she listened to my order as the salad came out with Ranch instead of what I asked for. The baked potato was wrong in that it had everything on it. She walked around with an ear bud in her left ear so I don't know if that was the hearing issue or if she just didn't care. The steak tasted like it was cooked on a grill that had too much lighter fluid and one side looked like it had burned. I typically enjoy Longhorns but tonight was very underwhelming to say the least. I stopped in with a colleague to grab dinner and as we walked up to the location saw a good bit of people sitting on the benches outside and inside the restaurant indicating it'd be a long wait to be seated and a packed restaurant. As we walked inside that wasn't the case as there were tons of empty tables, yet the hostess still quoted us a 15-20 minute wait for a table. (We opted to sit at the bar as there were several empty seats) Upon being seated we received a warm greeting from Robin and looked over the menu. We were ready after a few minutes and let Robin know this as she was wrapping up a transaction with a gentleman seated next to us. (No harm no foul as he "seemed to be a talker") Well, several minutes passed as Robin and the gentleman continued chatting away "about his next visit to the area and how he'd visit her again next month" Finally, when the gentleman left Robin came over and asked "Are you ladies ready to order?" (As if we were indecisive and hadn't been waiting several minutes for her to end her conversation ) We placed an order of the Wild West shrimp, which came out promptly and would have been good if it didn't have a black hair sticking out of one of the shrimp. We made Robin aware and asked that she replace it with the firecracker chicken wraps in which she barely issued an apology for the shrimp not being up to par and then took the shrimp to the kitchen. While waiting for the replacement appetizer, we noticed an order of the chicken wraps be brought out to a couple sitting next to us who had just been seated minutes prior (which one would have thought the order of chicken wraps would have gone to my colleague and I since the restaurant was righting the wrong of our initial hairy order of shrimp) Several minutes passed and we still hadn't received our chicken wraps and then our entree came out so we asked Robin about our appetizer and if she put the order in for us. She quickly replied "yes, let me go check on it" but failed to offer an apology for the delay. While eating our meal Robin only checked on us once despite seeing my empty drink cup (she never brought out a refill like most in the service industry are trained to do). We were told the separation would give us the BEST LONGHORN EXPERIENCE FROM THE KITCHEN MANAGER! After placing our orders at 7:30. We did not receive our food until 9:15!!!! Many other guests have come and gone while we waited and waited! We had to speak with 3 different "managers" in order to FINALLY receive our food. Let's get the snobbery out of the way first: I eat steaks at Ruth's Chris when I eat steak out. My wife wanted to try Longhorn as a less expensive alternative. I was dubious to say the least. It was fantastic. Everything was. From the Iced Tea that was just sweet enough, the salad that was full and green and not overdressed, the steak that was cooked perfectly, all the way to the waitstaff being courteous, friendly, and fun! The Meal- ---I get my iced tea half sweet and half unsweet (as I am not a true southerner). It was perfect and not overly bitter like a lot of southern tea is. ---The Caesar salad was a bit too fishy for me but that is the risk I run ordering a salad that has anchovies as a key ingredient. ---The complimentary bread was excellent! ---The baked potato was a little on the small side but it was delicious and the size didn't matter as I was plenty full when the meal was over. ---The 9oz Flo's Filet with a bleu cheese crust prepared medium well. I asked that they not go to heavy on the bleu cheese. It came out perfect with a very thin layer of cheese on top. The steak was incredibly tender and flavorful. Very impressed! The food was prompt, hot, and perfectly prepared! Not to mention I can eat here 4 times for the cost of one meal at Ruth's Chris! That is not to say that Ruth's isn't a better dining experience because it is by far. It is just easier to sell a $40 meal over a $140 dollar meal when I want someone else to cook me a steak! Mississippi Governor took off the mandatory mask requirement but the sign says per the government there is a mask requirement inside the restaurant.
