Ok. Let me begin by saying I have been a loyal customer of Katherine's for a long time. It is normally or at least has been a very good local restaurant with really good food and service. Well...tonight just erased all of that. The waitress was friendly but an awful waitress. One dish was the stuffed redfish with a request for bourbon cream sauce on top. No sauce when it got to the table. My dish was redfish veronica which was also with bourbon cream sauce. It had maybe a tablespoon of sauce which was ridiculous (see picture) and may as well not had any. I guess I should have asked for ketchup. She never checked on our table once until we were nearly finished eating and had been without drink refills the whole meal. I guess her conversation with buddies in the back was more important than her customers. You know, when you drop a couple hundred on a meal for 4 folks and leave really disappointed it ain't good. I hate it too because I have taken clients and friends here for years and this may be just a fluke but I don't think so. Oh well, another one bites the dust. read more

Met a friend for dinner at Kathryn's Steakhouse Friday night. I have wanted to try them for a long time and after another dinner was canceled, I got my chance. Our sever, Allie R, was a boss! She worked all of her tables with ease and checked on us throughout. We lacked nothing from a service standpoint. They had a band playing which kind of didn't lend itself to the steakhouse feel, but it was a good band. We both ordered a redfish dish--I got the redfish Veronica and my friend ordered Redfish by George. I was not a fan of dish at all. I didn't even like the taste of the shrimp. Everything seemed off to me. My friend said her dish, while it looked better than mine, tasted like she was eating healthy. I did enjoy the broccoli and salad but that was it as far as my main food went. For dessert, I ordered the bread pudding. It was worth every calorie I tasted! It was the star of my dinning experience. I hate I didn't like my first time at Kathryn's but I will go back to try a steak next time. read more

I went to Kathryn's on a Sunday night while passing through on business. The place was packed! I grabbed the last seat at the large bar and ordered a beer from the tap list. The crowd is "mature" , and they were there to dance to the live music. Music was good and I enjoyed watching. I ordered the Prime Rib, medium rare and blackened. It came out in a reasonable amount of time, but it was cold in the center. I was able to get it warmed up and it was delicious! Everything can't be perfect when the crowd is large, and they reacted promptly and courteously. Service trumps perfection every time. read more

About a month ago, I had a poor steak experience at Kathryn's. The owner reached out to me and encouraged me to come in and give them another try. This past Friday, I did just that. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant. We weren't seated long when Emily got drink and appetizer orders for our party of 4. We had the Peach Bellini, a bourbon on the rocks, the loaded potato skins, and the crab claws. While we were waiting on the apps to come out the band started and we placed our dinner order. 2 Ribeyes, the chicken Parmesan, and the pork chop dinner. Instead of a salad, I opted for a cup of the mushroom soup. It was excellent. We enjoyed the band, and some folks even danced. Our meals came out promptly and this time my steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I was able to try the chicken Parmesan and Pork Chop entree as well, and all were delicious. I felt a little guilty coming in to retry the steak on a busy Friday night, but Kathryn's succeeded in winning me over. read more

my last 2 times here were a total disappointment. Food is so inconsistent won't be going back

We have been eating at Kathryn's for years and specifically Christmas Eve with our family for the last 10 years. Service and food have always been pretty consistent and I have left positive reviews, however we will never return. We had a reservation for 6 pm on February 8th to celebrate my mom's 79th birthday. We placed our order around 6:15. Never received any rolls until I asked an hour into our dinner. We had to ask for refills and I actually had to get up to get our own silverware and app plates. After patiently waiting over an hour we asked about our food. We were told by the waiter he had no idea when it would be out. We asked again 15 mins later and he said they were plating it right then, finally another 15 mins passed and at 7:35 - over an hour and a half, 4 of our dinners came out. We then asked for the manager and he was basically a jerk and said too bad. The 5th person in our party never go their food (seafood pasta) and we asked them to remove it from the ticket. The food was cold and average . Then it got worse.... When we were finishing up another table behind us was upset about not receiving their food. The waiter was standing over their table and the customer said "don't stand over me " and got up in the waiters face and the manager had come to their table by that time. It nearly got violent as the customer was a huge dude and bodybuilder. My wife was sitting with her back to them and they were bumping her chair and I told her to get up before she got hit or pushed. She went outside and the people I assume were asked to leave the restaurant shortly after. No one apologized or gave a crap about the service or atmosphere. I understand things happen and nothing is perfect but to not apologize and not care about your customers is the reason we will not return. I actually worked for the owner when he managed Scrooges in the 90s. It's a shame because we love supporting local eateries. read more

We dine at Kathryn's on and off. The food is usually consistent and good. The steak is seasoned and prepared to the correct temperature. Service can be a little slow. I am never in a hurry when we go so it doesn't bother me. I always sit on the non bar side as I usually have dinner with my family or a date night with my husband and like to be able to hear each other(it's just a personal preference). I like that it is a local business. I do like that most of their staff has been there for years. Cheryl is my favorite server but we had Crystal last night. They were really busy for Sunday evening. Our server was Rachel on a busy Saturday night. Even though we had to wait a good while on our food, the band was great and we enjoyed ourselves. I had a filet salad and it was superb. Our entire party was pleased with their meals and we will most definitely return. Prices range from around $10-22 on appetizers, from around $15-50 on entrees. I love having dinner date night here. The live music is always different, but always enjoyable. I love to people watch at this location, and sometimes join in on the dancing if the music is right. The appetizers are my favorite! We usually get a few of these and a couple of drinks, and skip out on the entrees. I did see other tables food being delivered- I can tell you the salad and dinner rolls look amazing. The fried crab claws are wonderful! The tomato dish with feta and crabmeat were to die for. This restaurant has been around for some time. When you arrive, If you never been, there's 2 doors to this place - 1 for the bar and 1 for the small dining. We didn't know which door - so we came in on the bar side. It's a first come, first served bar deal. But we had reservations for the dining side. A waiter directed us through the bar door to the dining room. Confusing right.. The dining room is TINY!! It's very small and very close together. So I would recommend getting reservations if you plan on dining in! We got fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, those we premade frozen type appetizers- still really good. You can't get much more authentic and welcoming than Kathryn's. The interior maybe be well worn aka well loved, but from the welcome to the service you're made to feel at home. Start with the crab bites and fried crawfish tails. So delicious! You can't go wrong with a steak, but the redfish dishes can't be missed either. My favorite is Redfish George. NO GOOD BEER at all, this is supposedly a great place for steak yet they cannot seem to have good beer. Very disappointing and a huge hit in my overall opinion. The food is nothing special, house salad just sucks, they cannot seem to make a twice baked potato and the only thing good was the steak and wine and liquor. I give Kathryn's Steaks & Seafood 4.5 stars.  You get these real good vibes as soon as you walk in;  you know right away that you're in a classy establishment.  The hostess for the evening did a great job.  She really knew what she was doing with regards to recommending a good appetizer, or nice beverage to go with the whole dining experience.  The steak that I ordered was cooked to perfection.  My only disappointment was having been served overcooked fries - a small bummer for me.  I took the high road and did not say anything because everything before and after the fries was perfect.  I'm looking forward to going back to Kathryn's; and hopefully I can post a  5 star rating on that dining experience.  Bon Appetit. read more

I don't mind paying more for food, but it has to be worth it. Based on the planted pictures by an person obviously related to the business I hoped for some really great food. I ordered Beef Tenderloin Tips ($18.00) "Fried with peppercorn sauce" and Seared Yellowfin Tuna ($18.00) "Three 1st Place Awards! Seasoned and seared, served sliced with apricot chipotle sauce." First of all the serving size for both fit into the smallest box to-go containers they have, you know, the ones usually used for desserts. For $18 a pop I expected way more than that. The sauce for my tuna was so hot it melted the plastic container it was in and spilled all over everything. The tuna was super over spiced and honestly I've had better at Osaka Japanese Restaurant for $10. I would disregard the "three first place awards" I mean where are the awards from, what are their credentials. I think they're self-awarded because this was not an $18 piece of tuna. And trust me I know tuna. I'd pay $10 for your tuna Kathryn's but never again will I pay $18. I feel like I could have made my own fried beef tenderloin tips for way less than $18. They were tasty but nothing special and again for $18 ridiculously priced for the serving size. Maybe I'd pay $13 for the amount and flavor if it came as a meal with a side of rice or potatoes or $10 as an appetizer. I will not be returning to Kathryn's, overpriced and overrated. read more

We decided to return, over a year later, for a 'last meal' of sorts before a c-section. Kathryn's did not disappoint. The service, from the moment we walked in, was fantastic. We choice to sit on the quieter side, away from the live music, because it was my first night in almost a year without any toddlers dining with me, and I wanted conversation and silence. It was calm and pleasant on the other side. We started with the "wet fries" and the gravy is amazing. Cannot beat it. The salads were good and fresh as well, and the fried bread (fried pistolettes) is addictive. Then came our food. The ribeye, my husband ordered. He said it was delicious and had leftovers, because it was huge. I ordered the filet medallions and they were melt in your mouth amazing. My husband enjoyed his twice baked potato, while I wasn't such a huge fan because of the bacon bits in it. All in all, great atmosphere, service, and amazing food. read more

A good place for steak without all the fuss Atmosphere: This place very casual, non-stuffy restaurant. Shorts, and sandals are welcome. The decor isn't chic, but homey and comfortable. The room is not brightly lit, but also not dark, so you are able to see if your food is properly cooked to order Food: I had ordered the strip steak, as the prime rib was sold out. It was cooked very well, and seasoned well to. My side was steamed broccoli with hollandaise sauce on top. Even though it was good, there was nothing spectacular about it. My side salad was a plain iceberg mix that is commonly found in bagged salads from a grocery store. However, the rolls that were brought out were the most interesting part of the meal. I believe they were yeast rolls that were deep fried. The exterior crust was enjoyable, and the soft interior was soft and warm. The rolls reminded me of the fried "Chinese donuts" that you can find in most Chinese buffets in the South, but without the sugar Service: Our service was good. The servers were attentive. This is an absolute favorite for Tuna. The tuna app with the raspberry chipotle sauce is amazing!! All of the red fish dinners are cooked to perfection every time. The broiled tomato is delicious. I think I enjoy the energy and atmosphere more than the food. That's not to say the food isn't good, because it is. However sitting in the bar area with live music makes for a fun evening.
