Great food great drinks great service! 10/10. I recommend this to anyone who likes steaks done the right way!

    Ribeye and okra
    Roger G.

I had the ribeye, rare with okra and a side salad with ranch. The steak was cooked perfectly, but with maybe a little too much pepper. The okra is cut in halves, and the breading is good but it was cold. The salad is always dependable. The service was a little lacking. It took forever to get refills and the food came out in waves instead of all at once. It was about half full so the noise level was fine. Overall our party was satisfied.

    Flo's Filet and Grilled Shrimp

My rating is a very soft 4-star. More of a 3.5 rounded up. I've been here numerous times and it seems like management and waiters are always having to make up for the kitchen. I last visited with my grandparents for their anniversary. Most of our food was fine. The stuffed mushrooms appetizer rocks! My grandmother got a great steak but the lobster tail alongside it was no longer hot. The Flo's Filet I ordered was not medium rare - the way I always order my filet cooked. In fact it was the most strangely cooked steak I've ever seen. It was cooked medium well halfway through one side, with a significant amount of crunchy surface char on the outside. Whereas the other side was cooked medium to about halfway through and without char at all on that side. The chef either had no idea what they were doing or, more likely, they forgot my steak, realized it, then tossed it on the plate and hoped for the best. As mentioned, the manager and waiter were on top of things. When my grandma complained, the manager came by the table and was very friendly. He comped the lobster without question. Not wanting to fuel the fire, and never one to waste any meat, I didn't even mention the problem with my steak. In any case, management rocks, but if they want to keep my rating, the food prep quality needs major improvement.

The wait was a little crazy and the staff was clearly out of their element with the booming crowd, but at the end of the day, the food spoke for itself! I'm a 9th gen Texan and love my BBQ. This was the sh*t! It was some of the best brisket I've ever had, seriously. Now people will say, "what place has the best BBQ?" My immediate thought is "clearly they've never had BBQ! As there's literally no place on earth with the best BBQ." If you've eaten your fair share then you know that's a trick question. The better question is, "who has the best brisket, or ribs, or nanner puddin, or whatever." Some places are great and others suck, but no one is the best at all of it. They may be above average or even exceptional, but they will still be better at one meat than another. We had brisket, turkey, beef rib, pulled pork, mild sausage and jalepeno, along with some brisket deviled eggs. Dude! If it were Cajun food, you'd have to slap yo mama. Fortunately it's BBQ so we loosen our belt strap and when we can't eat another bite, we grab the biggest spoon we can find and eat some nanner puddin. It was solid. For sides we had potato salad, cole slaw, mac n cheese and collard greens. Personally, my favorite was the mac n cheese as it was creamy and tasted great, but my friends from Oregon were in TX for the first time and while she had never had collard greens, she couldn't get enough of them and literally went back for thirds. As mentioned, our friends were in from Oregon and had never been to TX not ever had TX BBQ. Shack you did us proud!

As I always do I ordered the brisket burnt ends and the original sides of tater salad and coleslaw (as a honest comparison of the TX Top 50). 1lb of brisket that was the superstar of the tray as it should be. Really good flavor and an even smoke that never was offensive "mesquite bite, hickory bitterness" due to really seasoned oak wood presumably post oak. Sides were fine/traditional ACV style slaw to cut the rich brisket, maybe an egg yoke, dill tater salad that was right on the money. Over all a really good bbq representation of Texas smoked beef, not sure I'd rank 10th in the top 50 but glad to taste what others voted on anyway. I will say the condiments "raw jalapeños" and their layout was a really easy and appreciated change from other bbq joints.

The menu was very easy to read, and provided enough variety in order to find exactly what you were looking for without needing to compromise on your appetite. The waitress was very friendly and provided her opinion on local favorites without demeaning other options, always a deal breaker for me when places do that, so she gets special love for her taking care of us that night. Once our meals arrived, it was time to dig in. The food was hot, prepared exactly as expected, and in typical Texas fashion there was more than we could expect to eat in a single sitting. At Chopped and Sliced BBQ, you will never leave hungry. Honorable mention to the fried Okra. I became the star of the night as almost everyone at the table couldn't get enough of it. Also, not sure if it was a regular or one-off, but the night we were dining in there was a man playing traditional Americana folk songs on guitar just inside by the entrance. He provided a nice relaxing atmosphere for the night without being too out or overbearing for my ears. I found myself tipping him on more than one occasion for his contributions to the evening.

Please pass on this following information to management and cooking staff; I do believe it is important, especially in this economy. Buyers want to get their moneys worth and I feel this is a ripoff. I get really agitated when an establishment sells a loaded baked potato and all they do to the potato itself is slice it down the middle and load the toppings on top of it. It ruins the process of eating the potato in a simple enjoyable fashion as a knife is actually needed to carve out bite size pieces of potato. An unfortunate result of this method is butter etc seeps out of the potato and into your general eating space. I got this order to go and had to mop my kitchen floor from the mess it created before I could actually eat it. Messy BBQ may be niche yall are trying to pitch but I do not think it is cute. The potato was semi hard and quite bland. After around 5-8 bites all I was left with was half of a plain unflavored potato I suggest cooking staff and management ensure their potatoes are properly cooked to the point that the potato feels like a ripe avocado . Kitchen staff should gently yet firmly push down the properly cooked potato to change the texture and create a reservoir to properly hold the toppings. Food gets zero stars, as I mentioned. I will give 2 stars because order was ready fast and the employee expediting to go orders was really nice. A theme of many of my reviews is "do it right or don't do it all". It is my opinion Rudy's should not sell baked potatoes until they overhaul their process.
