    Flavorful Ribeye
    Sheila R.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food and service were at Longhorn Steakhouse!! I had a filet and my husband had a ribeye. They were cooked perfectly medium rare. Our steaks included huge loaded potatoes and salads. Everything was fresh and filling. The atmosphere was nice - although it would've been much nicer without the sound of loud children in the restaurant. I wish they had separate sections for tables with young children and adults who just want to be around other adults. Perhaps we will dine at a later time on our next visit. Otherwise, it's nice to visit a restaurant that offers value and good service. Those attributes are getting harder to find these days. Special thanks to my friends who recommended it!!

I didn't have any NYE plans this year, so I came here for an early dinner before a night of movies. We arrived at 5pm and were promptly seated. We only ordered waters to drink. The bread served was warm and very good! For appetizers, we shared the spicy chicken bites and cheesy mushrooms. They were both good, but the mushrooms were a little too cheesy - some people will love that! It just was a little much for me since I don't normally consume so much cheese. We both ordered the 6oz filet. I ordered mine medium rare. I loved it! It was sooooo tender. It practically melted in my mouth. For sides, I asked for the Caesar salad (portion was huge) and mashed potatoes. No room for dessert after all that! Overall, it was good for a chain restaurant. The service was great. The food was heavy, but my filet was fantastic.

Nothing better. This place was amazing. We had a spectacular server. We had the Caesar salads to start, and they were perfect, we also had the bread, and then steaks. Although the steaks were on the wrong plates, it was not a big deal because they were SOO GOOD. We finished our meal off with THE cheesecake. This cheesecake was so freaking good, it tasted like it was homemade, and there were fresh strawberries! I'd definitely recommend

The steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The vegetables were fresh and delicious. I gave a 4 because the chowder was ok but they ran out of chives and we were there early in the afternoon and they had not too long ago opened. The servers were great with my large party and had no problems giving the guests separate receipts upon requests. I recommend and will be returning soon!

I really enjoyed my experience at this Longhorn Steakhouse. There is ample parking and when we arrived around 5pm, we were told it would be about a 10-15 minute wait. Our table was ready before the full 10 minutes. Service was prompt and friendly. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. The drinks, I had the mango marg and we also had the dragonfruit marg double poor which was about 3 servings. The salads were fresh and crisp, bread was warm and delicious and the steaks were cooked perfectly to our desired temperatures. I also really enjoyed my sweet potato with cinnamon sugar and butter. Awesome meal.

Service was great! My colleagues and I are here for lunch and the atmosphere is always great at Longhorn! 2 of us loved our food but 1 was not happy. We ordered Salmon & Broccoli, Chicken tenders w a baked potato and the Sauced chicken bites appetizer.

It's rare to find a restaurant that works really hard to be sure your dining experience is perfect. My husband and I ordered the lobster chowder which was great, and the ribeye 12 oz plus the 22 oz Longhorn porterhouse. Salads were tasty and plentiful. The ribeye was perfectly cooked but the porterhouse came out overcooked at first. The manager, Cliff Latibeaudiere, and our server Oscar went above and beyond to ensure we got a replacement which was perfection. They treated us with the utmost consideration and respect and were attentive throughout our meal. The lava cake was also exceptional. I would not hesitate to recommend this location and we would definitely take the time to drive the more than half hour trip to visit here again. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly on arrival so they definitely all turned what could have been a major disappointment into a memorable and positive experience. Highly recommend!!!

I stopped by on President's Day for dinner after a hard day at work. I was absolutely flabbergasted how packed the restaurant was. The management was not prepared for the crowds. A lot of chaos ensued. My meal was very good. The noise level was a roar. I will return here not on a holiday next time. The leftovers were wonderful fortunately.

Well, they JUST opened a few hours ago and the place is hopping! It's comfortable, buzzing but not too noisy. It's well staffed with plenty of helpful servers around constantly clearing and keeping things moving. Our drinks were so very quickly refilled, before we even thought to ask! It's quick friendly service right off the bat! The fresh table bread is warm and delicious. We shared a strawberry pecan salad, which was yummy & refreshing. I loved my bowl of shrimp & lobster chowder served in a comforting warm crock. Hubby got a T-bone steak rare with a loaded baked potato. It was cooked perfectly and he couldn't even finish it! They add plenty of butter, so do mention it if you don't like that. Many staff members acknowledged us as we left and asked how we liked it. Yay-it was a real treat! All in all a Terrific opening day! YEEHAW, We will definitely be back!

This was my first time at longhorn and I really enjoyed it!! We started with a Caesar salad and French onion soup, the salad was pretty average but the soup was AMAZING and I'm not typically a huge fan of French onion soup. For our entrees we got the ribeye and the filet and both were good. The filet could've used some more flavor but for the price these were pretty good steaks. For our sides we got the loaded baked potato which was ok and the Mac n cheese and Brussels sprouts which were super yummy. The service was great and we loved the complimentary bread too! Definitely would return it's a great meal for a great price and the interior is pretty nice (kind of funny tho)

Counterweight Headway Glass flares from bottom - classic tactic to provide less liquid. Also easier to spill being top heavy.

Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

It was really about attention to detail and the steps of service. None of them were there. We saw employees walking past empty tables with dirty dishes and not help clear, and saw no teamwork. My happy hour dirty martini with a house potato vodka was better than I expected. I ordered pasta with vodka sauce and my husband had pasta Bolognese. Mine was very good. My husband enjoyed his meal. The restaurant was fairly empty at the time we were there. I walked around, it has a steak house feel. Dark, tasteful, a nice wooden ceiling, slightly stuffy vibe, plenty of wine and bottles on display. Now for the nitpicking. For an upscale restaurant, they don't pay attention to visual details. ( within eye-shot) In the corner walking from the bar to the lobby are a bunch wires going up the wall. It looks spastic and messy. There is a closet behind the bar that has a light in it about as bright as the sun. Left open, or even cracked completely throws off ambiance. She was quick to point out that they also had a bar menu and I decided to try the chickenParmesan small plate. Priced at only $10. This might be the best bargain in town. A rather generous portion of chicken served with spaghetti mix for a lovely meal. Specially when you add one of the delicious salads or apps. Recommend the meatballs and the roasted beet salad. I have only sat in the bar area, so I cannot comment on the restaurant ambience, but where I did sit was both comfortable occasionally quite lively. First time at their Newington location. We were seated a booth - very nice - extra roomy. It's nice that you aren't on top of other people in this restaurant. Nowadays they just pack people in which takes away from the dining experience. Started by splitting a Caesar salad. Forgot to take a picture - probably because it was so good and we were lost in conversation. My boyfriend got the filet with twin lobster tails special. He enjoyed the filet and I had the lobster tails. The lobster tails were huge! The waitress mentioned they normally put some sort of a spice on them but I asked for it to be left off as lobster is delicious on its own (I just asked for butter on the side). Unfortunately, they put salt on the lobster tails which kind of ruined the flavor, however the lobster was nice and fresh, so I just dunked them in butter to mask the salty taste. Lobster is so flavorful and delicious by itself - it doesn't need anything other than lemon and maybe some butter. Chefs are always trying to do different things with lobster and they don't need to. Perhaps they put too much salt in the water they cooked it with. We also split the Au Gratin Potatoes. I must not have read that it had three cheeses in it. WOW was that a lot of cheese. A bit much. Very tasty but too much cheese. It was also quite small. We got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and I have to say I normally love these, but this had an espresso flavor to it. Like lobster, chocolate is good as it is - no need to add different flavors to it. I hate tiramisu/espresso flavored desserts typically, so that flavor ruined this for me. I wish they mentioned it had an espresso flavor in it. I will ask in the future when ordering at restaurants. Service impeccable. Just a few things that kept this from a 5 star review. We did bring in our own bottle of wine so they will allow that, you just have to pay the $25 corkage fee. Nice evening. Will be back.

When I arrived I was told it would be a 45 minute wait. Basically my reservation was useless. The 2 greeters made no attempt to address this whatsoever and didn't care at all. We decided to wait at the bar 2. The bar was not crowded with a couple of bartenders. We placed our order. The bartender looked like she didn't know what she was doing and greeted us with about as little enthusiasm and happiness as possible. (Maybe she was having a bad day). She didn't seem to know how to mix two drinks; a manhattan and a Negroni. She couldn't answer our question about what gin she had at the bar and just told us to ' look' as she pointed behind her. Then it took about 10 minutes for three drinks to arrive; the poorly made Negroni, a Coors light in the bottle (she never asked if I wanted a glass), the wrong glass of white wine that she had to redo with the correct one, then after 5 more minutes the manhattan arrived, also made poorly. She didn't charge us for that drink due to the delay saying she had to wait to get the vermouth. That's an odd excuse from a bartender. I've been a paid bartender, I know what to expect and she was just horrible. I'm sorry but that's a plain fact. If she worked for me I would have fired her on the spot and took over myself. 3. By this time, about 7:50, we were seated at an outside table. The crowd was dying down but our waitress was less than attentive and certainly not prompt. We have dietary allergies that she promptly noted but did nothing about as she said she would check wth the kitchen about of couple of possible choices we had interest in, but never came back to give us the answer. Now being quite impatient, we ordered anyway based on the menu description. One appetizer could not be eaten because of the allergy. We asked for the wine list, that never arrived, and it was 10 minutes until she came back to the table, but we ordered without it. The waitress seemed like she could care less about how we were doing or how she was performing her job. After dinner, ironically, the manager stopped by to ask how everything was, but we quickly said things were OK only because it would have taken too much time to make note of everything that had gone wrong. By now it was after 9 and my reservation was at 7. We had to leave. Suffice it to say, we won't be back. A sad overall experience indeed. I don't expect this restaurant and or management will be around for long as I have no reason to believe we were the only party to endure this horrible dining experience.

The sushi at Feng's Marketplace is also good, but this was on another level. As far as gluten-free options, there were not a ton of choices. They suggested the salmon, so I went with that. Honestly, I would not order it again. It was not very flavorful, and the vegetables were canned corn, spinach, and mushrooms.
