    Flavorful Ribeye
    Sheila R.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food and service were at Longhorn Steakhouse!! I had a filet and my husband had a ribeye. They were cooked perfectly medium rare. Our steaks included huge loaded potatoes and salads. Everything was fresh and filling. The atmosphere was nice - although it would've been much nicer without the sound of loud children in the restaurant. I wish they had separate sections for tables with young children and adults who just want to be around other adults. Perhaps we will dine at a later time on our next visit. Otherwise, it's nice to visit a restaurant that offers value and good service. Those attributes are getting harder to find these days. Special thanks to my friends who recommended it!!

I didn't have any NYE plans this year, so I came here for an early dinner before a night of movies. We arrived at 5pm and were promptly seated. We only ordered waters to drink. The bread served was warm and very good! For appetizers, we shared the spicy chicken bites and cheesy mushrooms. They were both good, but the mushrooms were a little too cheesy - some people will love that! It just was a little much for me since I don't normally consume so much cheese. We both ordered the 6oz filet. I ordered mine medium rare. I loved it! It was sooooo tender. It practically melted in my mouth. For sides, I asked for the Caesar salad (portion was huge) and mashed potatoes. No room for dessert after all that! Overall, it was good for a chain restaurant. The service was great. The food was heavy, but my filet was fantastic.

Nothing better. This place was amazing. We had a spectacular server. We had the Caesar salads to start, and they were perfect, we also had the bread, and then steaks. Although the steaks were on the wrong plates, it was not a big deal because they were SOO GOOD. We finished our meal off with THE cheesecake. This cheesecake was so freaking good, it tasted like it was homemade, and there were fresh strawberries! I'd definitely recommend

The steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The vegetables were fresh and delicious. I gave a 4 because the chowder was ok but they ran out of chives and we were there early in the afternoon and they had not too long ago opened. The servers were great with my large party and had no problems giving the guests separate receipts upon requests. I recommend and will be returning soon!

I really enjoyed my experience at this Longhorn Steakhouse. There is ample parking and when we arrived around 5pm, we were told it would be about a 10-15 minute wait. Our table was ready before the full 10 minutes. Service was prompt and friendly. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. The drinks, I had the mango marg and we also had the dragonfruit marg double poor which was about 3 servings. The salads were fresh and crisp, bread was warm and delicious and the steaks were cooked perfectly to our desired temperatures. I also really enjoyed my sweet potato with cinnamon sugar and butter. Awesome meal.

Service was great! My colleagues and I are here for lunch and the atmosphere is always great at Longhorn! 2 of us loved our food but 1 was not happy. We ordered Salmon & Broccoli, Chicken tenders w a baked potato and the Sauced chicken bites appetizer.

It's rare to find a restaurant that works really hard to be sure your dining experience is perfect. My husband and I ordered the lobster chowder which was great, and the ribeye 12 oz plus the 22 oz Longhorn porterhouse. Salads were tasty and plentiful. The ribeye was perfectly cooked but the porterhouse came out overcooked at first. The manager, Cliff Latibeaudiere, and our server Oscar went above and beyond to ensure we got a replacement which was perfection. They treated us with the utmost consideration and respect and were attentive throughout our meal. The lava cake was also exceptional. I would not hesitate to recommend this location and we would definitely take the time to drive the more than half hour trip to visit here again. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly on arrival so they definitely all turned what could have been a major disappointment into a memorable and positive experience. Highly recommend!!!

I stopped by on President's Day for dinner after a hard day at work. I was absolutely flabbergasted how packed the restaurant was. The management was not prepared for the crowds. A lot of chaos ensued. My meal was very good. The noise level was a roar. I will return here not on a holiday next time. The leftovers were wonderful fortunately.

Well, they JUST opened a few hours ago and the place is hopping! It's comfortable, buzzing but not too noisy. It's well staffed with plenty of helpful servers around constantly clearing and keeping things moving. Our drinks were so very quickly refilled, before we even thought to ask! It's quick friendly service right off the bat! The fresh table bread is warm and delicious. We shared a strawberry pecan salad, which was yummy & refreshing. I loved my bowl of shrimp & lobster chowder served in a comforting warm crock. Hubby got a T-bone steak rare with a loaded baked potato. It was cooked perfectly and he couldn't even finish it! They add plenty of butter, so do mention it if you don't like that. Many staff members acknowledged us as we left and asked how we liked it. Yay-it was a real treat! All in all a Terrific opening day! YEEHAW, We will definitely be back!

This was my first time at longhorn and I really enjoyed it!! We started with a Caesar salad and French onion soup, the salad was pretty average but the soup was AMAZING and I'm not typically a huge fan of French onion soup. For our entrees we got the ribeye and the filet and both were good. The filet could've used some more flavor but for the price these were pretty good steaks. For our sides we got the loaded baked potato which was ok and the Mac n cheese and Brussels sprouts which were super yummy. The service was great and we loved the complimentary bread too! Definitely would return it's a great meal for a great price and the interior is pretty nice (kind of funny tho)

Counterweight Headway Glass flares from bottom - classic tactic to provide less liquid. Also easier to spill being top heavy.

Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

There's always something we are excited to check out when we haven't been in a while. They have a few non-alcoholic drink options. As someone who's living the sober lifestyle, it's always nice to see that. The restaurant is well managed and well maintained. Always clean, servers seem invested. It doesn't hurt to make a reservation if you're coming on a Friday or weekend night. Chicken is the star of the show here, and we almost always order that with some of the ala carte sides, but my wife also likes to grab something else off the menu and I'll usually sneak a bite. One of my friends asked me (quite earnestly) if I had ever been to the Community Room Cafe for breakfast because "it's really great". Well, we went there today and I sincerely want to thank that unknown Yelper because the Community Room Café is excellent. We found it in the Constitution Square retail area bounded by Cedar St., E. Main St., Market Sq and Lowrey Place in the center of Newington, CT. Parking is plentiful in the Square's large parking lot. Their space is amazing -big, cheerful, inviting, comfortable, colorful (plenty of orange and black). There are plenty of various seating options in the form of couches, upholstered chairs, table/chair groupings, and counter-style seats by the windows. We saw a few medium sized groups gabbing away at the upholstered seat area and a few industrious folks clattering away on their laptops. We each went with an Avocado Toast (@ $9) with mashed avocado, diced egg, diced tomato, bacon crumbles, cilantro, and Everything bagel seasoning blanketing a big slice of toasted rye. Seriously, one of the best breakfasts we had this year. I went with a small cold brew coffee and a shot of sugar-free caramel ($4.25) while my wife went with a small light roast coffee ($3). The place looked spacious and with a lot of light, it looked clean and they seemed to have a nice selection of wines (for those that like it) , they were displayed for people to see, which I thought looked very nice. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and I found it odd that there was only 1 restroom for the size of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice, he took our order and we were excited. The food took a VERY long time, we were starving, and we had kids with us so that wasn't good. Some of our orders were wrong and so unfortunately we had to wait even longer for the right meal. We didn't order alcohol but we did older a couple of mocktails. I was SUPER excited for them because that's something I always appreciate at a restaurant. I'm sad to say that they were AWFUL!! straight up syrup, not bubbly (some were supposed to have soda in them) not sweet, simply not enjoyable at all, I ended up switching it for a simple club soda, I figured it was a safe bet. When my food came out, it was ok, I had the avocado toast, and it was forgettable, my sister had the chicken and waffles and now THAT was the meal to get, it was large in portion and that chicken was beyond tasty!! My other sister has the lomito sandwich with the chips and it was good, something missing but she enjoyed it. The rest of the food were burgers and they were ok, the kids had burgers and Mac and cheese and they were not tasty according to the children's disinterest in barely touching their food (and they love cheeseburgers). I'm always willing to bypass certain things as long as customer service delivers BUT unfortunately they fell short. We were celebrating an engagement and so we were all very happy and in a great mood, when suddenly workers around us were cleaning up the neighboring tables, and even sweeping very close to us. We thought the place was possibly closing? (Even though it was only 2:15pm). I asked if they were closing and they said that they close the restaurant from 3-4 so their employees can go eat .... I'm not against giving them a break BUT, it really felt like they were kicking us out, we felt pressured to eat fast and wrap it up, not a good feeling, when you are in the zone of happiness. It was our first time there so, I would have appreciated if they would have informed us that the restaurant takes a little break in between and then we would have decided if we wanted to stay or go elsewhere. They did bring a little dessert and 2 mocktails for the newly engaged which was nice, I'll give them that. Overall, I don't think the food and experience was worth me coming back or recommending this place, I'm sure there's other much better places.
