We ordered some take-out from Wood N Tap after learning from FindMeGlutenFree that the menu had recently been revamped, and the fryers are now gluten free. Super exciting. When we called in, the staff was super knowable about allergens, and assured us everything was gluten free (and tomato free). The order was ready in about 20 minutes. We tried the chicken fingers with parm fries, the buffalo chicken dip, and the mashed potatoes. The chicken fingers were a bit small on the portion, but they tasted decent. Next time I'd skip the parm and just have regular fries. The buffalo chicken dip was good. I've always loved their mashed potatoes, but I order them without the onions on top. There isn't much wow in the food, but it's decent. Their takeout boxes don't hold so well, so your food will have to be reheated- that's our problem though, not theirs. All in all, Wood N Tap has great service, and great allergen protocols, but the food is pretty average. A great spot for bar food, and exciting they have GF now. We'll likely return. read more

After a day event with my daughter she decided to come here for dinner and she was happy with her choice. The location was pleasant , the food was as good and was able to customize the food to her liking, I however was surprised to find my choice such a small portion, I picked shrimp scampi, the plate was big for such a small portion , Im glad we had appetizers other wise I think I would have left hungry. Wood n Tap is a staple around here, but I haven't been in years. My husband and I wanted to stop somewhere close by to get a late lunch after a bike ride and decided on wood n tap. Service was great. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and the hostesses who also ran food occasionally were very friendly as well. They've renovated the interior since I was last there and it's very clean and cozy. You forget that you're right next to the Silas Deane. We ordered nachos which were quite tasty. They were loaded with toppings and nicely layered. I was pretty full after that, but my husband got a buffalo chicken wrap and I got a steakhouse salad thinking I would take some home. Unfortunately my salad was absolutely drowning in dressing. There was a pool at the bottom of the bowl. I ate the steak which was actually pretty good and I really liked the marinade, and I ate a little of the salad, but ultimately it was just too much dressing for me to enjoy and I couldn't take it home because of that. I liked all the flavors, but if I got it again I would request the dressing on the side. My husband liked his wrap well enough So the food had some highs and lows. I'd give it a 3/5. Me and my wife was out of town looking for a place to eat for dinner. We were told about this restaurant from a friend of mine. We went into the restaurant and were greeted by staff. We had to wait for five minutes for a seat. We started off with drinks and my wife had autumn flight and I had fireside cider. My wife loved her flight and the fireside cider was delicious. My wife ordered the short rib grilled cheese sandwich with fries. I ordered the Cajun flatbread with cauliflower crust. My wife loved here grilled cheese sandwich. Amazing!!! I actually loved this place so much the first time I came back the next night while I was in town. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and I highly recommend. It was so great, especially with the blue cheese- perfect combo. The fries were delicious. On the second night it was my birthday and I ordered the brownie and ice cream. Woodntap has always been my go to and continues to be. For someone who is gluten-free they are great with accommodating and having gluten-free items on the menu. Rock steady, baby That's what I feel now (Aretha Franklin) Let's be honest about it. Most of you in Connecticut have been to one of  Wood-n-Tap's nine locations. I know I have. And I also know that their food, service, and value have all  been steady and dependable. I'm on the board of a charitable organization and we had a planning meeting last night at this convenient location which was centrally located for us. It's so easy to find, basically sitting at the I-91 off ramp for Route 99. We ordered a variety of dinners -a fish and chips, some bowls of chili, some sliders, some vodka penne with chicken, a garden salad, some beers and a few cocktails. Our server was great -the young man was attentive, polite, responsive, and courteous. Everyone's food looked wonderful and as we dug in there were many compliments at our table. I went for a bowl of chili and a Garden salad. The chili was very good -hot in temperature and somewhat hot in spice level. I love chili and I loved Wood-n-Tap's version. Their dinner salad got high marks too, A very generous portion of greens and fresh veggies, sprinkled with cheese, bacon bits, and a few croutons. So the next time somewhat raises their eyebrows at eating at a chain restaurant, I'd think twice because Wood-n-Tap was pretty damned good to us. read more

Wood-n-Tap is always a great spot to stop for dinner or drinks! I came here with a friend on my way home from work a couple weeks ago for happy hour - or tappy hour as they call it (3-6). There was such a huge selection of seats to sit at in the bar room where we were able to order from the happy hour menu, which was great! Between the two of us we ordered the bar bites ($5), 2 chicken quesadillas ($6 each), and sweet potato fries ($3), This was more than enough food and we both went home with leftovers. The bar bites are a classic and were delicious as always. The quesadilla was great - I was surprised at hos big it was and how much chicken was in it. For drinks, I got an espresso martini ($7) and a spicy margarita ($7) which were both delicious! They had a great selection of happy hour drinks. This was my first time at this location and my friend and I had such a great experience. We skipped out of work early and started happy hour around 3pm :). The restaurant wasn't too crowded so we grabbed a booth and our waitress came over with our waters. We put in our orders which were a margarita (they were $3), a red sangria ($7), nachos, lobster grilled cheese and pasta. Yes, it was a lot but I took my lobster grilled cheese to go. 7/30/23 I wish I could make this four stars, but there were a couple of things that won't let me honestly do that. But first, the good news. Service was very good by our server, Esteban.. Our shared app of a quesadilla was also very good. Two of us had the Buffalo chicken wrap with parmesan tater tots that were very good, one of us had the rib platter that he said was also very good. My grandson glommed his chicken fingers (ALWAYS his go to from any menu choice), so they must've been pretty good too! The two women in our party ordered the filet medallions, cooked well, but when they cut into them, they were still slightly pink in the middle. Our server apologized, brought them back to the kitchen to finish cooking. Upon returning several minutes later, their steaks were still pink in the middle. Certainly not the server's fault, but that's why the three, rather than four star review. Four of us decided to have the summertime dessert offering of cheesecake with the unusual crust of Oreo Cookie,drizzled with raspberry sauce, instead of the typical graham cracker crust. It was excellent. Maybe next visit I'll be able to up my rating to four stars. Fingers crossed! read more

Tap Room Fries are an absolute staple when dining at Wood n Tap! I was pretty distraught when they disappeared off the menu several years ago. I was excited to see them featured on the 20th anniversary menu in Hartford (but never went). Imagine the look on my face when I spotted them under the appetizer section of the menu. Salty crunchy sweet potato fries slathered in a maple glaze and with honey mustard dipping sauce ... yes please! So savory. I hope this app is going to stick around! I settled on a seasonal drink, Blackberry Lemon Drop ... pretty sweet and not overly reminiscent of the tart flavor of it's namesake, but very smooth, and even prettier to look at. I then transitioned to the Tiki Sangria off of the standard drink list. Again a sweet drink, but the tiki bitters spiced the drink up just enough. Okay, (almost) enough of my obsession with this snack. This visit was strictly for drinks but once I spotted my beloved app, it quickly turned into a snack with the drinks. My fiancé and I arrived to a pretty quiet restaurant and wanted to sit in the bar area, we were immediately brought to tables off the bar area & our waiter came over not looking not long after. He was ending his shift but was wonderful enough to get us started with drinks and our food before the waitress taking over arrived. It seemed that the waitress wasn't covering our section as we were the only ones and she was tending to tables outside... no biggie, just some lags in service. I'm hoping we'll be back soon because the tacos on the menu were calling my name as well as the EXTENSIVE cocktail list. I've been to Wood-n-Tap before, but not to the Rocky Hill location. This is an easily accessible location from Wethersfield, and it's right off the highway. We were seated very quickly, despite it being a bit busy. This is a bigger place then other locations, getting a table should be easy. I got the arugula salad with grilled chicken. I wanted something light and easy, possibly big enough for lunch the next day. This salad was a great choice. Again, I remembered to take my picture half way through. This salad is fresh, with grape slices, walnuts, thin apples slices and a few goat cheese balls, they're so tasty. I added grilled chicken. This is a great salad. The waitress was quick and attentive. I recommend this Wood-n-Tap location, the service and this particular salad are excellent. read more

We went in for late lunch and didn't have to wait to get seated. This location can get very busy during dinner time on weekdays. My experience with the staff at this location has never been very friendly or anything specific to call out. They are not rude, but at the same time they can get a little friendly and engaging. Came here for book club and there r plenty of tables for group dinners. We sat outside which was adorned w beautiful flowers lining their fence. My only criticism is that my onion soup just did not have enough onion ummph to it and it was on the salty side. If I was rating the bourbon sirloin alone it would be 4 stars. Flavor of the steak is excellent and the meat is nice and tender. The garlic mashed potatoes are also delicious and addicting. I have gotten this dish a couple times and each time did not disappoint. And it does not make you feel too full even after eating the whole plate, very satisfying. The passion peach martini and strawberry coconut martini were good. I liked that the bartender made it nice and strong. I give it 3 stars because I have had some of the finger foods before and they were just mediocre. Also, sometimes the service can be a little on the slow side. First time here and I have no regrets at all with my visit. Ordered the artichoke and spinach dip with chips for appetizer. The dip was warm, very cheesy and creamy. Very addicting. The Wood-n-Tap is a classic here in Connecticut. Besides having some of the best nachos in town, they have a really solid menu that has so many great choices! Last Saturday, my friend and I were finishing up some Christmas shopping and WnT was serving till 9:30 PM. It's hard finding places open later in the evening these days, so we were psyched that they were still serving food. The booth where we were seated had a great view of a flat screen tv that was playing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and then Frosty the Snowman. That made us smile and really got us even more in the holiday spirit! We started with the Bar Bites- mini Angus burgers topped with American cheese, pickles and honey dijon. We subbed out the fries for tater tots. Always a win when a place has tots! We went with the small size that came with four sliders and they were great! Perfect for sharing as an app. For my entree, I went with the Veggie Wrap that had avocado, balsamic vinaigrette, diced tomato, hummus, kalamata olives, leaf lettuce, red onions and roasted red peppers. I added some fried goat cheese balls and it was awesome. Just what I was in the mood for. Gotta go with the veggies every once in awhile. When you check in on Yelp, you can score a free dessert, so we ordered the Madagascar Fudge Nut Brownie. We got that to go to be respectful of closing time. It came with French vanilla ice cream and chocolate Kahlua sauce. The brownie was huge and the sauce was so good! Our server Emily was fantastic. She helped us out with any question that we had and was super friendly and knowledgeable. We also had a great talk with Carolyn, the MOD. She's the best! Looking forward to visiting the WnT again. Had a wonderful surprise on Saturday, driving down 91 - through Rocky Hill and found Wood n Tap. At first, it looks like most other restaurants....when you enter the experience changes. Friendly people and good food. The person who waited on us recommended some dishes, perfect choices. Thai wings were tasty, just enough zing. Ruben egg rolls - very creative and tasty. If this was my first experience @ a Wood-n-Tap, I would never return, but luckily I've been to other locations with better food. There was an amazing greeter upon entering and a different, but also amazing, when we excited... but somewhere in between they forgot to tell our server to also be amazing. Started with the truffle risotto balls, which were good, I just didn't care for the sauce on top. Now I'm curious to go elsewhere and see if it was really supposed to taste like that. Then the fried mozzarella wad a little overdone, hard and crispy outside. And the sauce on top was actually cold. My friend had the bacon burger, which looked good, but I didn't taste. I had the "Short Rib grilled cheese" that tasted ok but lacked a major ingredient.... cheese! There was an extremely small amount of cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. I ended up home, bloated and in my bathroom. And the next day my friend said something wasn't right withn his food and he was in his bathroom. Maybe there were new cooks that day, but this definitely wasn't like any of the other experiences I've had at a wood-n-tap. And I didn't get my loyalty points.
