Came by with hubby for some quick food and a drink before meeting up with friends later! I had my usual Point Judith Calamari and a delicious Mango MaiTai and hubby had a burger and an old fashioned! It was a quick delicious bite and always perfect!

I stopped in after an appt nearby yesterday. My coworker highly recommended Taco Tuesday so I tried it. Fantastic flavors, presentation, and price on the hand made tacos! I had two chicken and one fish taco. I sat at the bar and enjoyed conversation with two other patrons. I can't wait to go back. I have had other entrees, and tacos outshined my past meals. Me and my wife was out of town looking for a place to eat for dinner. We were told about this restaurant from a friend of mine. We went into the restaurant and were greeted by staff. We had to wait for five minutes for a seat. We started off with drinks and my wife had autumn flight and I had fireside cider. My wife loved her flight and the fireside cider was delicious. My wife ordered the short rib grilled cheese sandwich with fries. I ordered the Cajun flatbread with cauliflower crust. My wife loved here grilled cheese sandwich. She told me that the meat was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. My flatbread was cooked to perfection and very delicious. We ordered the fudge brownie which was phenomenal and the perfect ending to the dinner. The restaurant has a great ambiance and very customer friendly. A great place for a great meal.

Amazing!!! I actually loved this place so much the first time I came back the next night while I was in town. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and I highly recommend. It was so great, especially with the blue cheese- perfect combo. The fries were delicious. On the second night it was my birthday and I ordered the brownie and ice cream. They wrote happy birthday on it which was so cute and thoughtful. Not only was it a huge brownie but it was also delightful. Highly recommend!!!

Woodntap has always been my go to and continues to be. For someone who is gluten-free they are great with accommodating and having gluten-free items on the menu. The wings I have posted aren't gluten free but since I was with friends thought I would share them As well. I ordered the Margherita flatbread and it's heavenly. So fuffly , cheesy and good! Great for an app or meal. Salads are excellent! That's what I normally get or a burger! So many choices for us Gluten-free peoples! But i have been to all locations near me( southington, Newington, Rocky hill) and non disappoint. Always great staff, great service, good food. We were able to do happy hour, sat by the bar so it was even better. Great way to start the weekend. Our waiter must of gotten busy and took a while to check on us but besides that it was fine!

Food there is always decent and they have a couple selections on the happy hour menu. I got the penne alla vodka and nachos and both were good. Service is quick and friendly. They have a large space with good bar vibes and plenty of drink options.

Rock steady, baby That's what I feel now (Aretha Franklin) Let's be honest about it. Most of you in Connecticut have been to one of  Wood-n-Tap's nine locations. I know I have. And I also know that their food, service, and value have all  been steady and dependable. I'm on the board of a charitable organization and we had a planning meeting last night at this convenient location which was centrally located for us. It's so easy to find, basically sitting at the I-91 off ramp for Route 99. We ordered a variety of dinners -a fish and chips, some bowls of chili, some sliders, some vodka penne with chicken, a garden salad, some beers and a few cocktails. Our server was great -the young man was attentive, polite, responsive, and courteous. Everyone's food looked wonderful and as we dug in there were many compliments at our table. I went for a bowl of chili and a Garden salad. The chili was very good -hot in temperature and somewhat hot in spice level. I love chili and I loved Wood-n-Tap's version. Their dinner salad got high marks too, A very generous portion of greens and fresh veggies, sprinkled with cheese, bacon bits, and a few croutons. So the next time somewhat raises their eyebrows at eating at a chain restaurant, I'd think twice because Wood-n-Tap was pretty damned good to us.

Wood-n-Tap is always a great spot to stop for dinner or drinks! I came here with a friend on my way home from work a couple weeks ago for happy hour - or tappy hour as they call it (3-6). There was such a huge selection of seats to sit at in the bar room where we were able to order from the happy hour menu, which was great! Between the two of us we ordered the bar bites ($5), 2 chicken quesadillas ($6 each), and sweet potato fries ($3), This was more than enough food and we both went home with leftovers. The bar bites are a classic and were delicious as always. The quesadilla was great - I was surprised at hos big it was and how much chicken was in it. For drinks, I got an espresso martini ($7) and a spicy margarita ($7) which were both delicious! They had a great selection of happy hour drinks. Service was great as well, our server was very nice with a great sense of humor. Can't wait for my next visit!

Went for happy hour and sat in bar. Atmosphere was relaxed and chill. Bartender was very attentive and fun to talk with. This may be weird, but foot petal on bathroom door is brilliant. You don't need to touch the handle to open door....just use the foot petal Of course the pomegranate martini was Delicious as usual. Definitely one of my favorite drinks all time. Bar chicks and ta ow smelled too good to even get a photo. Sorry!! Absolutely going back again and again!!

Wood N Tap should give lessons to other restaurants on how to treat customers and handle take out. My order as usual was correct and the salad was perfect. The veggies were crisp and fresh, the perfect mix for a side salad. The dip is so rich, I saved half for lunch tomorrow. Nice think chunks of real artichoke are in there. This place is a cant miss stop at any one of their locations. Bring your appetite!

This was my first time at this location and my friend and I had such a great experience. We skipped out of work early and started happy hour around 3pm :). The restaurant wasn't too crowded so we grabbed a booth and our waitress came over with our waters. We put in our orders which were a margarita (they were $3), a red sangria ($7), nachos, lobster grilled cheese and pasta. Yes, it was a lot but I took my lobster grilled cheese to go. I enjoyed everything but most importantly, our waitress was amazing. She really made us smile and I'm glad we had her. I also checked in on Yelp and got a free dessert (brownie w. ice cream).

Jeff is such an amazing server! Such a handsome and wonderful young man! He suggested we try the chimichurri shrimp and it was AMAZING! Definitely coming here again!

7/30/23 I wish I could make this four stars, but there were a couple of things that won't let me honestly do that. But first, the good news. Service was very good by our server, Esteban.. Our shared app of a quesadilla was also very good. Two of us had the Buffalo chicken wrap with parmesan tater tots that were very good, one of us had the rib platter that he said was also very good. My grandson glommed his chicken fingers (ALWAYS his go to from any menu choice), so they must've been pretty good too! The two women in our party ordered the filet medallions, cooked well, but when they cut into them, they were still slightly pink in the middle. Our server apologized, brought them back to the kitchen to finish cooking. Upon returning several minutes later, their steaks were still pink in the middle. Certainly not the server's fault, but that's why the three, rather than four star review. Four of us decided to have the summertime dessert offering of cheesecake with the unusual crust of Oreo Cookie, drizzled with raspberry sauce, instead of the typical graham cracker crust. It was excellent. Maybe next visit I'll be able to up my rating to four stars. Fingers crossed!

The restaurant wasn't too crowded, but there were still a fair number of people, which was nice. There were a few specials--chicken noodle soup, meatloaf, etc that seemed tempting as well. My mom wound up getting the chicken noodle soup, and she loved it! We split the pork burnt ends appetizer. If I had known how good the pork was, I would've maybe gotten the pork belly bahn mi. I know I'll have to get that next time! Because this appetizer stole the show. I absolutely will have to get it again next time. I got the fish and chips, which were stellar! Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

Choices were limited to 'small and large plates', there was no appetizer section. We were asked "sparkling bottled ($$) or tap water?". We chose tap. Server brought an old-style quart-size milk bottle and small juice-size glasses. The water had no ice, so I assumed water was cold, it wasn't. I ordered a 'breakfast' stout, my wife coffee. Stout was served in a wine glass, not a traditional pint glass. Wife said coffee wasn't that hot. When they brought our beverages, wife asked for a napkin since none were on the table. Like most civilized countries, I like to put a napkin in my lap when I sit down in a restaurant. Apparently you need to ask for one here. Young server muttered something about place settings are brought when food is delivered. I guess an ale and coffee aren't napkin worthy. Not sure what they accomplish with this goofy policy. It looks more like some kind of cost cutting measure. We made reservations a week earlier, wanted us to confirm a second time through text the same morning. It led me to think this must be a popular place with people clamouring to get in. Once there, place wasn't bust at all, no waiting customers and a sea of unoccupied tables. Our guest arrived after we ordered our beverages. After a few minutes, I ended up flagging down a server to get her a drink. Another sign we were stuck with a 2nd or 3rd-string staff. Our aunt ordered a specialty drink from their menu; "champagne in a laundry basket", (looked more like laundry water in a wash tub). After taking our orders, paper menus were collected to be reused. Maybe they were saving money on copy paper. I kinda' wish she left one in case we wanted desserts or something later. They were keeping the table clear of literally everything. I ordered a humus plate for use as an appetizer, something to share and couldn't be screwed up while waiting for our main course. When entrees showed up, we all chose 'smoked sausage eggs-benedict', extra servers were in tow with plates, napkins and silverware, napkin place settings given after all plates were on the table. My wife was seated across from me, sitting next to her Aunt Nan. The first plate was placed in front of me. Even being the neanderthal caveman I am, I knew this was the most basic etiquette faux pas (I felt humiliated j/k). Ladies are ALWAYS served first, another red flag from an inexperienced staff. The 'smoked sausage' Eggs Benedict failed on many levels. It wasn't hot, poached eggs were both over and under-cooked- egg whites had chunky white snot, yolks were not runny. The 'smoked sausage', was kielbasa logs cut in half lengthwise, they were overcooked and impossible to cut without flattening and mutilating egg and muffin. They could be used as wheel chocks, I had to deconstruct it so sausage could be wrestled with on the side. Wife said the 'homemade' English muffin had the tap water taste like what we were served 'for free'. I couldn't help but envision a garden hose filling a mop bucket used for filling the milk bottles. The Hollandaise sauce lacked silky richness and flavor, I've had better with McCormick packets. Benedict was overpowered with the taste of the smoked sausage. This meal was our aunt's special treat for our birthdays. They did not finish their meals, leaving mostly the pieces of the hockey puck-hard sausage. Server had been touting the pastry chef for the home-made English muffins. They were not any better than Thomas's English muffins. I am a plate-cleaner by habit, I've even been called human garbage disposal, so I managed to clear this one, (except for the egg snot, it would've taken a straw to finish it). My wife always has leftovers I happily dispose of quietly, not this time, gave it a hard pass. I felt unfulfilled, I was food frustrated, so I ordered some bacon cheese scones and shared them with the table. They turned out to be the best thing we had, warm Bisquick quality with a good taste of bacon and cheese almost as addicting as Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. We consumed them like a pack of hungry wolves. I asked and was told they don't serve them with butter. These begged for butter. IMO, butter should already be on the table. My wife picked this venue for our birthday treat meal with our beloved Aunt Nan from MA treating us. I apologized to her for our disappointing choice. She said she was glad I said it, she didn't want to say anything to make us feel bad. With tip, the bill for 3 was $171.00. We could have had a better meal and service at an IHOP for a quarter of the cost, I know I would have felt more satisfied. This experience made onto my list of top 5 worst eating experiences.

I chose The Laurel based on the great reviews, not knowing much more about this place. Upon arriving, the parking lot was packed. I also had a difficult time getting in when walking from the parking lot, which is behind the restaurant. The issue here (which is my only negative about the entire dining experience) is if I were with a person with disabilities (as I am at times) who doesn't walk fast and we walked to what we "thought" was the entrance, only to find a sign saying to use the front door, but no arrow as to where that is (and keep in mind, I don't know the area, this place, never been here before) and if it were raining - This would have been a horrible way to start the dinner. PLEASE post a sign on the door with an arrow showing which way to go. Also, the door says it's for disable folks, but it's locked. OK - My griping aside... Coming in, I was quickly greeted and seated. The staff here was GREAT! Very engaging and VERY helpful! The menu here is AMAZING! Good thing it's a joint that specializes in small plates and that I was part of a group of three, it gave us the ability to try a bunch of items; seven, in fact and that's not including dessert! The flavors from their vegetarian and vegan dishes were so darn good, you don't miss the meat! Everything was plated beautifully and perfectly! We also placed our entire order (not desserts) all at once and they brought them out as they were made, which worked perfectly with our timing too. They not only have a full bar here, they have a "craft cocktail" quality bar! Upon walking in, one of the first things I noticed was their yellow chartreuse! Of course, next to this was green. So, when I sat down I asked about it, and my server told me how they were able to get this and so I ordered a Last Word, which came out SPOT-ON PERFECT! When it came to the food, some favs of ours - Their Watermelon Crudo - This looked and had the texture of tuna - AMAZING!! The Vegan Empanadas had amazing flavor and texture! I also liked their Stuffed Peppers - The "Samosa Potatoes" in them really hit nicely as well as the sauce on top. Save room for dessert, they have some great options here! We couldn't decide, so the 3 of us ordered 4! We tried their crème Brûlée, their Unbirthday cake, Tres Leches Tiramisu, and their Brûléed Cornbread. The Unbirthday cake was nice - reminded me of what it looks like, Funfetti! But their Brûléed Cornbread was AWESOME! Loved the crispy edges of the cornbread and the entirety of flavors. It wasn't until mid-meal that we really had a talk with our server about the amazingness of the food, the artfulness of it, as well as the attention to detail and creativity of the menu and that's when we learned that the chef here recently won an award for best chef in Connecticut! Well, now it's obvious - Why the parking lot was packed and why everything was so very good! Highly recommend stopping in - but make reservations!

I saw the post on a Saturday morning and jumped online and made a brunch reservation for 11:45 the same day! Everything we had was fantastic, rather than wanting a basic sausage or bacon to go with the French toast sticks. I ordered the Bella Bella wings as my protein to go with my Ube French toast, and they were fantastic. I also had to start with the watermelon Crudo, which was interesting, the flavors were excellent, but the texture of the watermelon did not resemble watermelon so it could throw you off if you're not at least a mildly adventurous eater. My husband had the prawn and grits and said it was fabulous and that he would order it again. I did not try it because the portion is not that big and the French toast was filling me up so I let him enjoy his own meal, and did share a couple wings with him and he agreed they were really good. The service was great again, and as simple as it sounds, I loved how when we were seated the hostess asked what kind of water we wanted, we did not have to wait for any period of time for a server to come over and ask us. The attention is in the details and that is always important. The cocktails were great, though a little pricey, which is on par for things in CT. We enjoyed them both at brunch and on our first dinner visit. We will be back, and I actually already prepaid for a dinner experience coming up with Filipino food and I'm excited for it! I have friends that went to the first one and said it was epic! So, while we usually go to brunch only if there are bottomless mimosas, this is one exception that will stay in our rotation! The restaurant is cute, intimate and clean.

We went to this place for Mother's Day brunch, and it was one of the worst experiences I could have…read moreimagined. First off, the ambience of the place is fairly nice though you would not know it from how many of the other patrons choose to attire themselves. If you're looking for a upscale, dining experience, other patrons would suggest this is not the place for you. They started off by attending to put us at the wrong table per our reservation. The table was apparently filled, and they moved us to a different table, which was perfectly fine as it was a nice booth with a window right next to the table. They then gave us several menus from which to choose, which was confusing as there were so many different menus with similar food options, including brunch, menu, a burger, menu, a dinner menu, a Mother's Day, special menu, and the regular menu. There were also two separate drink menus. We started by ordering some drinks and an appetizer of the meat and cheeseboard for the table. We put in our full order at just before 12:59 PM and the meat and cheeseboard came out fairly quick. Overall, it was the best part of our time at the restaurant. With regards to our main meal, we had ordered an eggs, Benedict, a children's pancake and bacon, special, and a steak and eggs meal. That was apparently a mistake as it took them over one hour six minutes before the food hit the table and when it did, it was a mess. The medium rare steak was cooked to a well done with the eggs being extremely messy and not very runny for over easy. The potatoes were dark and charred in places, but we're not crispy by any stretch of the imagination. The Canadian bacon had not been rendered well on the eggs Benedict and one of the two poached eggs clearly had not been poached appropriately. Also, my daughter indicated that the syrup was way too sweet, which was especially surprising as she is someone with a sweet tooth. The pancakes themselves were extremely dense and unfair and served on a plastic tray missing one of the size that was supposed to come with the order. It is clear that the kitchen does not know what they are doing as I was the second person in a row to have issues with the cook temperature on my steak, a problem that appears to carry over to other aspects of the meal as well. At the one hour mark, I've been so frustrated. I had requested to speak with a manager and he was actually the one who brought out the food to our table. There was a good four minute gap between two of the meals being brought out and the third meal, which is what my wife had ordered for her Mother's Day brunch. By the time the eggs Benedict came out, I showed the manager my stake and eggs, and he agreed that it was cooked to a well done rather than the medium rare I had ordered. I had overheard the exact same issue on the next table over where the older woman had not gotten her meal until nearly all seven others at the table had completed their food. At that point, I sent back my steak and indicated I did not want it to be remade as I was done with the place. Shirley, thereafter, I was clear the rest of the family was of the same mind as the meals were a mess and cooked improperly. The manager eventually came over and indicated that he is going to take care of the entire CHUCK which makes sense sense more than 75% of the food ordered had been uneaten or inedible. The service was no better as waiters and waitresses would walk by and failed to refill empty water glasses, even though they would look right at the empty water glass and would have pictures of water in their hand at times. One waitress went to five separate tables around us, including table she was not serving and failed to fill our water, but filled water at other tables. Our waiter was also missing an action for a good portion of the meal. Despite having the meal taken care of, I did leave a small tip for the waiter, though nowhere near what I would have had the service been even somewhat competent. This is a major disappointment as the last experience I had at this restaurant for dinner had been so positive it convinced me to book the place for Mother's Day brunch. I'm not sure if this was a one off situation but I would never recommend a return to this place based on the experience I had this day. What's worse, our reservation appeared to fall between two rushes as we were the second table in the rush that showed up about 10 to 15 minutes after our arrival at the place. As such, our food should've been fairly quick and coming out but others who ordered their food more than 20 minutes after our table received it with no problem. I have to say that the Taco Bell we had as result of this poor food service was Myles and Myles better than the food experience at the restaurant itself.

My friend and I were out shopping and wanted to grab lunch. She was craving a sandwich so we headed to Cotton Hollow. We were pleasantly greeted at the door and seated in the bar area at a high top. We couldn't decide between inside and outside so when we were seated at a window table over looking the patio, we had the best of both worlds. Both the dining room and bar are lovely. There are tons of GF options, but I always go for the choices I normally can't have elsewhere. They have a dedicated GF fryer so I opted for the fried fish and sweet potato fries. The fries were crispy and lightly salted. The fish was tasty and crisp, but a little dry on the thinner piece. The coleslaw was an Asian style slaw, which was not my thing. It was a bit odd for me. My friend opted for a chicken wrap and it was insanely large and she said it was delicious. The photo is only 1/2 of the sandwich which she took home. I had the red sangria. It was drinkable but had a bit of a sour taste and no fruit. My friend had the Hugo Spritz, which was perfect and refreshing. I have been here a few times and they are consistent and have a wide menu. It's on my list of regulars. Hint, if you go to Sayulita and can't get in, this place is right across the street and a good choice.
