I've heard of Korean BBQ, but I've never been until a few days ago when my brother insisted we go. Seoul B.B.Q is located across the street from WestFarms, right next to GoodWill. They have an all you can eat menu, for $40 per person. I think that's very pricy. Since it was our first time dining here, we might not have been fully informed on how to order. Basically we just got meat, how is it possible that there wasn't a single pepper, carrot, broccoli or any green? For the meat lover, they don't care, but I like a balanced meal. I got the Kimchi soup, this was very flavorful, hot and spicy, it was filled with a lot of cabbage. It reminded me of my mom's soup, I enjoyed it. As far as the meat, I liked the Bulgogi. They bring you bowls of any meat that you choose, and you cook it yourself. Some were very fatty, some were thinner. Periodically the staff will come and switch out the grill top once it gets too charred, for a clean one. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I visited Seoul BBQ on a Saturday night at around 7PM for a party of 6, and we were seated immediately. Since we had some kids in our party and they wanted to opt out of the actual KBBQ, we ordered a la carte rather than doing AYCE which worked for us. We ordered some soups, some a la carte meats, and the seafood pancake. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but the quality of it wasn't great either. If you're expecting top quality KBBQ, this probably won't be the spot for you, but it gets the job done if you're craving it. read more

This is the best Korean restaurant in the central CT area. I also often order takeout from them, but the food is so much better in the restaurant. It's worth getting your clothes smelling of bbq for the day. They have a good selection of banchan (small Korean dishes). Their soon tofu soups are really tasty as well as their bibimbaps (mixed rice dishes). I always order a haemul-pajeon (seafood pancake) or a kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake) as an appetizer. As for the bbq, you can't go wrong with the bulgogi and LA galbi. Now that I'm reading this over, I realize that there's a lot of Korean words, which may seem daunting when ordering. But never fear, the menu has detailed descriptions and really, it's all good and worth a try. read more

Second time here. We come because the quality of the food is legit. Service is solid. The staff are attentive and service is prompt. Ambience-wise, it's a Korean BBQ place. It's going to smell like BBQ and they play plenty of KPop. Authentic flavors and generous portions. We had the fermented soybean stew (된장 찌개) and beef bone soup (갈비탕). The entrees were very flavorful. The variety of banchan was very good, but a couple of the side dishes were a bit salty for our tastes. Was looking for a good Korean BBQ spot, and found this gem. We only got the Korean BBQ, so I cannot speak for the sushi or Korean main dishes. We opted for the pork BBQ platter and lychee/mango boba tea; the sweetness of the boba bought a balance of sweet to the salt, fat, and savoriness of the meal. The marinated pork was full of umami, and pork belly was indulgently fatty. We had our pick of a dozen or so small side dishes that came with the meal, that provided a spectrum of flavors and textures. Most importantly, we were able to grill our own meats, thus allowing us to control char and doneness. My only little criticism was I wish the staff was slightly more attentive; since sitting down, i did not have anyone check on us, and had to wave someone down for a while before the check was given. Came to Seoul BBQ yesterday with a couple friends and honestly... 10/10. The food was so good. We got one of the combo sets and everything on the grill slapped--especially the bulgogi and pork belly. Super flavorful and cooked perfectly. The staff was super chill and friendly, kept checking in to make sure we were good and helped us with the grill since we clearly had no idea what we were doing at first. Also, the side dishes? Endless and delicious. I could eat that kimchi all day. Vibes were great, food was top tier, only thing is it was a little pricey, but we left full and happy. Definitely coming back soon. read more

I brought my kids with me this time 2yrs old and 7 months old along side my mom,sister and fiancée. My daughter doesn't eat much she had a few fries out of my app that was included in the AYCE appetizers. I seen on the menu kids 40in and 3-5 y/o are $13 I also seen parties of 5 or more is an added gratuity cool. The bill comes back with a charge for a kid and the added gratuity. Why if she's 2 she shouldn't be getting charge especially when she had no food order for her self and why would she be considered a 5th person when again she's 2 and not eating or drinking anything but water. When trying to rectify the situation with what we read on the menu not aligning with what we are being charged the manager was very passive aggressive and we were met with micro aggressions as we are a black family. He told us things like "well if you're not planning on tipping I'm not taking it off" what gave the impression we were not going to tip?? We tip graciously any where we go! Then as we are having a calm conversation about it and we are telling we understand what he's saying but this is what's stated on your menu he ends it by saying "I'm not gonna argue with you guys, you got it" we were NEVER arguing AT ALL we were having a conversation. He goes to get a new receipt and brings it back saying "And if I really wanted to argue there's another kid it's 7 people" AGAIN we were never arguing and the "other kid" the 7 month old baby that slept the WHOLE time on the FLOOR in his car seat that can't even eat the food??? So now there's a back and forth and he's arguing with us shouting through the restaurant saying it's customers like "us" who just likes "busting his balls" as we're clearly walking out. And still proceeding to walk all the way back from almost the middle of the restaurant to continue shouting at us and arguing us out the door. He was very unprofessional, racially insulted us and made us feel very low and in disbelief as we all have never experienced something like this. It felt like a racial attack over a misunderstanding. So happy we finally tried KBBQ in CT! I've driven past Seoul BBQ for many years, always unsuspecting. I was put onto this place recently by a coworker and needed to find a group of friends to check it out! What an experience! It helped that we had someone who knew their stuff and has been to many KBBQ spots, otherwise I would have been much less confident. We split a bunch of different things including the beef & pork combos. Keep in mind everything is family style so there's plenty of food for a group - we had 8 of us and we ordered way too much. Unfortunately they only do AYCE on the weekends. The service was great and the staff helps answering any questions and even helps you cook the meats if requested. My only complaint is we spent waaaaay more than expected. So need to be mindful of that next trip! We will definitely be back, but probably to try the AYCE. read more

I've dined in and ordered out from Seoul BBQ several times, and the quality has been consistently good. As someone who has lived in South Korea and loves Korean food, I am very picky about where I get my Korean food in the USA. Some restaurants serve Americanized Korean food that I really dislike. I recently ordered tangsuyuk (탕수육) and jjamppong (짬뽕) from Seoul BBQ, and they were both excellent and were exactly like the dishes I ordered in South Korea. Also, their waiting times are true to what they estimate when you place a takeaway order. They take great care with their take out bags too, and place a sturdy piece of cardboard at the bottom of the brown bag, which gives a bag holding several dishes stability. read more

I've been to Korean BBQ before but not this place. It was recommended by a friend who reserved a room for her birthday. The room was nice and have a good temperature upon arrival and throughout the meal. I have a sesame allergy and checked in with staff upon arrival and they were able to very clearly able to identify items to avoid and even brought me a sauce tray that didn't have sesame oil in it. I started with the Gun Mandu, which were crispy but not greasy with a flavorful beef and pork filling. We ordered a variety of meats in marinated and Non marinated including beef bulgogi, spicy pork and pork belly. This is a cook yourself place with all the bonchon that you could ever want. Bonchon are additions that you can make to your bbq meats when eating in a lettuce wrap or on their own. Check out their kimchi, pasta salad, fish cakes etc for sure. I also tried their boba tea with a pineapple boba which can with white tapioca, which was slightly chewier than the black tapioca I'm used to. The meat was plentiful and was quick to cook on the two grills that we had for 9 people. Staff was incredibly receptive and helpful in replenishing things when we requested them. Following the meal they bring you a sweet rice drink to finish up the meal. Overall this was a wonderful experience and I'd definitely come back. read more

We ordered boneless short ribs and bone in short ribs...deliciousness. The beef bulgogi which i was told was very good. My daughter and i got #16 spicy chicken....theyre not kidding its got a kick! Someone did cook our meats for us at the next table as it was empty, so that was nice! Prices are a bit steep honestly, but the portions are good sized. We had some leftovers to bring home. Loved my experience at this Korean restaurant! The service was so friendly and kind. The co-owner stopped by our table to check up on us, but we ended up just talking for about 20 minutes! It was a very nice touch that I personally appreciated. We had the combo and vegetable soon dubu and surprisingly they were very tasteful! I've had bland soon dubu before so it is possible to mess up the dish. The only complaint I would nit pick is how weak the mild spice level was. The servers are extremely nice and helpful especially when you're having intense convos that your meats start to burn. The banchan are plentiful and you can ask for more. (Last visited 3/12/2021.) My first experience with Korean BBQ was in Gainesville, FL and I was so excited to show my girlfriend the world of Korean BBQ that I found this place near her house and here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Right off of the busy roadway of Hartford Road in West Hartford (really New Britain, but it's right on the line) is this gem. It shares a small plaza with a few other businesses, but there is plenty of private parking in the lot. Don't expect to be wow'ed by the décor and stuff inside the restaurant. It's lacking, but no one really cares, because that's not why you're there. Lol. Let's move on... Service: I can't remember the name of our server but he was awesome. He was tall and stocky from what I can remember. He was super helpful with how things worked and was super patient with teaching us the ropes. Food: So, if you've never been to a Korean BBQ place before the draw here is the ability to cook so many different types of dishes all on the grill right in front of you! Yes, cooking your own food may not sound fun and it sounds oxymoronic, but trust me on this one. I won't even get to in-depth here, but... you can totally order food that you don't have to cook yourself. But, where's the fun in that?! So you can choose from a variety of meats ranging from your traditional boneless short-rib all the way to octopus. You can get the meats in both marinated and non-marinated versions as well. You do need to purchase 2 meats in order to use the grill and all the prices vary. When using the grill you can get an unlimited amount of sides such as kimchi, salad, lettuce leaves, white rice and a variety of others. You just really have to experience it for yourself. Everything was wonderful. Fresh, delicious, original and a grand adventure. Don't worry about over-cooking or under-cooking your food because your server periodically checks in with you and will give you lots of cooking tips! Value: Expensive. Period. Lol. If you want to use the grill, be prepared to spend $80.00 or more because you buy the meats individually and that'll run the bill up... unless you just stick with basic pork... then $60.00, but you gotta tip... you gotta drink!
