We waited until the new was worn off to visit the new LongHorn in Shelby, NC. The decor was reminiscent of Texas and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We were seated right away and our waitress got our drinks. We ordered the spicy chicken bites with the sauce on the side for our appetizer and our waitress brought us some warm bread. I ordered the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese, and my husband ordered the 6oz Renegade Sirloin with rice pilaf and a baked potato with butter and sour cream. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. There is a service issue with staffing at this location. On a packed Saturday, I expect to see the staff hustling, not lounging around chit chatting. I also expect a manager to visit the table when there's a problem with your order and try to make things right. Where do I start? The draft beer was flat, had to be returned. Had to ask to have the flat beer removed from my check. The steaks were overcooked. Ordered medium rare and received well done. It took an hour to get our food. We returned one steak because it was so overcooked and dry it was uneatable. I've attached a picture of the second steak they brought to the table, and it's absolutely rare. Probably done in spite or that's just how bad their kitchen staff is. One thing for sure, we will not return. Perhaps someone saw my last review because they've rescinded the ridiculous rule of no parties larger than 6 since my first visit. read more

Extremely disappointed with LongHorn Steakhouse. The ambiance was nice, our server was great, but the food was not. My meal came out cold, I sent it back (which I hate doing) and when it was returned, it was so over-salted it was completely inedible. I didn't want to send it back again, so I ate less than half and ended up with an upset stomach all night. When I called the manager the next day, I received no apology or concern--just a flat response about issuing a refund, which was for a smaller meal despite paying for a full entrée. Overpriced food, small portions, poor quality, and zero accountability. I will never return. Do better. read more

-Service was fantastic. The greeter and the server were both attentive. -Wait time, 35 minutes. Not unusual for the day and time. (no reservations allowed) -Ambiance-New, clean, and appropriate -Food-Inconsistant and incorrect- Salad orders mixed up-4 out to the 7 were wrong (dressings, toppings, etc.) Steaks-five purchased steaks (4 filets, one ribeye) One, the ribeye, was cooked adequately, the rest were over cooked. Filet orders-Medium rare, received, two mediums, one medium well-done, and one (mine) was Weldone-medium- and one bite that had a hint of pink. Oddly enough, that was the bite that was absolutely charred on the outside. We should have spoken to the server, but he was so busy he didn't come back for 10-12 minutes. The food we ate was prepared well and was very tasty but we waited a super long time for it. One of our orders was wrong and they had to recook it and it came out still wrong but he ate what they serviced at that point. He never did get the salad that comes with a steak. Also the steaks and the salads and appetizer all came out simultaneously instead of the salad and the appetizer coming out first. The communication in the kitchen and wait staff needs to improve- hopefully soon! read more

Decent chain steakhouse. Only on en for about a week. Staff still getting in the groove. Our party of four ordered 3 burgers and one salad. Two burgers medium and one well done. I ended up with a well done instead of the medium I ordered. Service was prompt. I just wish they could've have gotten the burger orders correct. read more

I had a really disappointing experience at LongHorn Steakhouse.  in Shelby NC. I ordered the 9-piece chicken tenders, and right away there were issues. A couple of the pieces were literally half the size of the others like they were using scraps to fill the order and the tenders themselves were cold. They also arrived without any honey mustard. The meal was also missing items. The Caesar salad that was supposed to come with the chicken tenders didn't arrive at all. We also ordered shrimp as an appetizer, but it didn't come out until about 10 minutes after the entrees and they were mushy and not good. When the manager came over, instead of handling the situation professionally, she was rude and dismissive, which made the whole experience even worse. The experience was very disappointing, largely due to the unprofessional conduct of the staff, including the on-duty manager. The overall attitude of the employees reflected a lack of attentiveness and concern for customer service. Additionally, the food did not meet the expected LongHorn standards--the chicken was undercooked, and several items were excessively salty. If you are ordering pick up food. Add 30 minutes to the time they text you to be ready for your food. Also, don't order the French Onion Soup, I got this 'soup' there was no broth at all. The cup was filled about 25%, it has 1/4" of cheese and small pile of onions, but no broth at all. It is a new restaurant and it was a Monday night and had a +1 hour wait for dine in service. So we went last night waitress and hostess were great, I understand they're not cooking the food so they were great, but the time it took to sit down and get our food almost 1 1/2hours. We went back next day for lunch again waitress excellent but we waited another 1 1/2hours with the restaurant only being not even half full. Formal Complaint Regarding a Very Disappointing Experience Good afternoon, I am writing to you with respect, but also with deep disappointment, as a restaurant owner myself, as well as a frequent customer and supporter of your establishment. Unfortunately, I feel that I was disrespected on more than one level due to the experience my family and I had recently at your restaurant. On Sunday, March 8, I came to your restaurant with my daughter, who was celebrating her 14th birthday, along with my wife and family. Our intention was simply to enjoy a special dinner together. However, the experience was very unpleasant from the moment we arrived. The attitude of the person who greeted us at the entrance was quite poor and unwelcoming. Even so, because it was my daughter's birthday and I did not want to ruin her celebration, I decided to ignore that first bad impression and continue with the evening, especially since I have been a frequent customer since your restaurant opened. We waited for a table around 8:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes. During that time, we saw at least four other groups seated ahead of us, apparently due to a mistake or negligence by the host who had incorrectly registered the number of people in our party. I approached politely to clarify the situation and even mentioned that I did not want to cause any trouble, but we were still left waiting. Once we were finally seated, our server was polite, but it was very clear that she was more focused on closing duties than on providing attentive service. As someone who has worked as a server, manager, and restaurant owner, I fully understand what closing time feels like and how tiring Sunday nights can be. However, that should never be an excuse to neglect customers who are still dining in the restaurant. From the start, the table service was very limited. There was no offer of drinks, appetizers, refills, or proper follow-up. Again, my wife and I decided not to complain in the moment because we did not want to ruin our daughter's birthday dinner, hoping that at least the food would make up for the earlier issues. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When the food arrived, two out of the five dishes came with cold meat, and the steaks were cooked medium well or well done, even though we were very clear when ordering that we wanted them rare to medium rare, which is how our family normally eats steak. This was extremely disappointing. Even then, because it was my daughter's birthday, we chose not to complain and simply tried to eat what we had received, even though it was not what we ordered or enjoy. Throughout the rest of the meal, we were mostly unattended. There were no consistent refills and no genuine follow-up regarding our experience. At one point the server briefly returned, asked if everything was okay, filled one glass of Coca-Cola, and disappeared again. When we finished our meal, the experience ended just as poorly. There was no offer of dessert, no acknowledgment of my daughter's birthday, and we were not even brought the check. I had to personally get up from the table and approach two servers who were already in closing procedures. Neither of them wanted to assist until they finally called our server. Despite everything that happened, and out of respect for the work of service staff, I still left an 18% tip on a bill of approximately $180. When I left the restaurant that night, my honest thought was: my money has value. This was not a $10 meal. It was a significant bill for a very disappointing experience on an important night for my family. For that reason, I returned on Tuesday hoping to speak with a manager in a calm and respectful way, expecting some kind of acknowledgment or reasonable compensation for what happened. I was not looking for something free. I was not trying to take advantage of the situation. I simply expected recognition that the service we received was far below what any customer should experience, especially considering the occasion and the amount paid. Unfortunately, I was treated dismissively again, and the only response I received was a card for a free dessert. With all due respect, I am not looking for a free dessert. What I am asking for is recognition that my time, my family's experience, and my money have value. I did not come to your restaurant to spend $180 only to be poorly received, wait excessively, receive incorrectly cooked and cold food, and then be ignored to the point that I had to get up and ask for my own check. For this reason, I am writing to request a clear response regarding what happened and to understand what solution you believe is appropriate in this situation. I look forward to hearing from you. Ordered a filet with baked potato. medium well Steak was tuff and under cooked. Blood red in the middle and cold to touch. Potato was not done, crunchy in the middle. I don't understand why you would serve food like this unless you want to go out of business. I waited 4 months to try this Longhorn. The service I would rate a one. Sat at the bar. Was passed by forever before the guy bartender "M" finally said I'll be right with you. Ten minutes later he finally asked what we wanted to drink and then we waited forever again when he finally came out with a tray and about 7 drinks on it. Terrible. Everything was a wait. We are there at 3:30 pm, not busy at all!! The food I would give a nine! Cooked almost perfect. The salad was pathetic. The store could learn so much from the Gastonia store! Very disappointed. On a non busy Monday night, we were still there for right at 2 hours. Took 30 mins to get salads, then another 30 mins for entrée. Overcooked steaks, wrong steaks due to kitchen mix-up and cold soup added to our dissatisfaction. Waitress was nice but was hardly around. I could understand if it was busy, but was far from it. Mgr came over and offered to make new steaks, but was already an hour and a half so didn't want to wait. Prices are higher so just expected so much better. BEWARE! There is an employee at this location that is perpetrating fraud against the elderly. My elderly parents visited this location in late September. I had given my father a $100 Visa gift card for Fathers Day and they wanted to pay with it. Unfortunately, the gift card was not activated and when the staff ran the card it was declined. They used their personal card to pay. My mother activated the Visa gift card that same day when she got home, with the intention to use it a few days later. Unfortunately, when she went to use it, all the money was spent. It was used the day after it was activated. One of the staff from this location must have taken a photo of the card and then watched and used it as soon as it was activated. I'd advise using cash only if you choose this location as your credit card number is likely to get stolen. I did report this to Longhorn Guest Services, and they did seem concerned, but have yet to hear back from them. read more
