Wow! This is one outstanding restaurant and bar, and located right on the square next to the Wimberly Cafe. Even from the front you can tell this is a special place, designed and built with love and a great attention to detail. Go inside and it just gets better, with a great little bar up front, cozy tables in the back, but the piece de resistance is the leaf-dappled courtyard. My wife and I had no idea what we'd find, just that the reviews had been good and the building looked nice. We scratched our heads over the reviewers that thought it was too "frou frou" and too expensive. Yes, it's certainly upscale, especially for a small town, but it's a long way from being unreasonable. As usual when visiting a new place, we tried a little of everything: the deviled eggs were amazing with the most perfectly and lightly fried oysters on top. The chile and corn chowder was light and bright, clearly a deft hand at work, and the muffuletta was completely different - and better - than any we'd ever had before. However, all of that was just a warm up for the butterscotch budino, one of THE most delicious deserts I've ever had. Check out the photo, including the one of a single spoonful, containing each of the marvelous ingredients in all one bite. Longleaf is a true treasure, a very fine restaurant in a town more known for its tourist spots and river-side bars. While all of that is nice, do yourself a favor and live it up a little. After I read a thumbs down review of this place on another website and every single comment blew that review into a black hole, I had to give it a shot. I had intended to try it anyway, but after probably 50 or so excellent reviews, I knew it was time. I was not disappointed! My baby sister was visiting from California so a friend of mine, my sister and I gave it a shot. The fried olives (I know, sounds bizarre) were great! The cocktails were not wimpy and tasteless but nicely boozed and flavorful. I've read several reviews commenting about the service but ours was far and away close to excellent. We all had the Wagu beef bleu cheese bacon burger and I have to admit, this was probably the best burger I've had in a long time. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, no condiments (you don't need any, trust me) with just the right amount of bleu cheese and crispy crumbled bacon, this burger topped my list of best in the area. The fact that the bacon was not laid out in floppy strips that you have to wrestle with but rather broken and crunchy, was genius. It assured you got the same amount of crisp not lumpy-greasy-pork-fat bacon in every bite. Kudos to whoever came up with that idea (I wish I had but, se le vie). I've also read some reviews that the place was too "fru-fru" and/or expensive. I say Wimberley needed this class of food and drink, not just the standard home cooking or BBQ that everyone expects. I truly hope Longleaf is around for a long, long time. I know I'll be going back. Are they expensive? They aren't cheap. But I'm a firm believer in the old addage ... You get what you pay for. Pathetic service. Saw our server maybe twice during one hour of waiting. Second time we saw them was to notify us our meal was taking longer to prepare (a burger and steak?). We walked in and wanted to see which tables were available that would be a bit socially distant from others during COVID, and an older unmasked woman (we think the owner) was extremely rude to us and abusive to her staff (yelling at them) in front of us for doing what we requested and allowing us to find a safe spot to eat. We found Longleaf on a whim and decided to try it. we both got the Wagyu burger, but I had mine with sourdough bread. we tried the asparagus and brussel sprouts. everything we ate was perfection. The kind where you just keep saying how great it is over and over. We also each had an old fashioned and it was the best one we've ever had. My only wish is there had been some singer/songwriter music playing in the background to add to the charm of the exterior dining with the beautiful lights around. truly romantic. love and will go back. read more

The options in Wimberley are somewhat limited in town. But this one is very nice and a bit upscale. I think this is the second time we're eaten here. We started with drinks. They have a very nice menu and I started with the Hye (local) cider. They listed two varieties and since I am who I am they didn't have the one I wanted. I ordered the grilled sweet potato and pear salad. Being who I am they were out of pears and were substituting apples. Fine. It was very good the pumpkin seeds are nicely seasoned and gave a nice crunch. The chicken salad sliders had a nice flavor although the rolls were a little hard. Not dried out but overly dense. Overall if you are looking for something a step or two up from traditional cafe food give this place a try. read more

Chicken tenders for kids were so not good that my 7yr old wouldn't eat them, My husband had a burger he said didn't taste great and he didn't eat all of it. We happen to stumble on this place when everything else was closed due to it being a Sunday evening. I was feeling adventurous so I decided to try the Cherry Limeade Radler by Karbach. It was a really good light beer and I was surprised how good the after taste was. We also got the meat and cheese board which had different items on it than what we were used to but it was really good. The honey on the board was unexpectedly good. The waitress was great and the co-owner spent a long time visiting with us. Great food, great people, and great beer! I would highly recommend this place to any couple wanting a fun but also romantic environment. read more

EXCELLENT!!!! 5 star food and service. The menu has a great selection with layers of flavor and quality ingredients in every dish. 5 star Cuisine! We went back a second night on our weekend trip. My husband and I couldn't stop talking about the quality food and service.Must try the Fried olives, Goat Cheese potato tart and the Duck Special if it's available. The host Noah, remembered us by name and made us feel so welcomed. Very Genuine. The Chef is a Genius! His presence in the Dining room reflects his love for food and people. Great place to relax and have a cocktail. Service was a little slow and they weren't busy, but when they came the food and drinks were great. Small food menu with only a few choices, but a lot of drink options. We had the deviled eggs stuffed with a fried oyster and the carpaccio and both are delicious. The cocktails with habanero shrub were amazing Going there multiple times now- great drinks, good food, good live music, bad service. Slow. They rarely check on you. They bring soup with no spoon and then don't come back for 20 min. You're drink is empty, wait 20 min before they ask if you want another. The servers seem super overwhelmed. read more

Snapper was delicious and the pork was good. But their cocktails.... Bartenders were knowledgeable, talkative, and funny. We were laughing the whole time. Man, they knew how to make a killer Old Fashion (and I'm not a huge fan of Bourbon). I tried 3 (each of us ordered a different type of bourbon) and all 3 were consistent and excellent. Love this place. We've been twice in a week and a half and we're heading back tonight! Their hours are great. It's unusual to fine a place in Wimberley that is open on Sunday and Monday, and Longleaf is! Don't skip a cocktail, their bar program is spot-on, and Milton is a wonderful mixologist. I highly recommend the Hemingway Daiquiri . It's delicious! The food menu is on the small side, and that's okay! Do what you do, and do it well! You can't be everyone's everything, and don't try! It would be nice to have a few more entrees during the evening. Sandwiches seem a little out of place during the evening, but that doesn't mean they aren't good! Everything we have tried has been delightful. Must haves: deviled eggs and fried olives. It's impossible for us to visit without an order of the olives. The deviled eggs are rich and tasty treats too! We went last Friday night and grabbed after dinner drinks and listened to music on the patio. Oh yeah! I forgot that we had dessert! We were in Wimberly visiting friends and decided to go here for dinner. What a gift. Robert is the new chef, he came out to meet us, and cooked us one of the most incredible meals I've ever had. It was several days ago and I'm still thinking about the risotto. Not only was the food truly delicious, Robert was charming, thoughtful and kind. The rest of the staff was lovely and attentive as well. Cameron our waiter, the gentleman known as "The Peacock" also on the wait staff and lovely. Our bartender, Mystery, talented and kind as well. The zen and tonic is a must try. If you're anywhere near Wimberly and even if you're not, you've got to put this place on your list. read more

We came to Wimberly to celebrate a friend's birthday. After researching the restaurants we decided to come here. I was very excited to try out this highly rated place. The outdoor space is awesome! Great ambiance. Our waitress was annoyed by us soon after we arrived probably because we were a big group. I tried the orchard envy drink and it was awful! I sent it back and got something else. The appetizers were delicious but when the meals came they were awful. I had the shrimp tacos and the shrimp was cold!! I swear it was from a can. That shrimp had never touched a pan or grill. So gross! I'm thinking this was a tourist trap. The owner and chef were not happy to hear that we didn't like the food and came outside string at our table and talking. Very unprofessional! Though they did remove some items from our ticket which was nice. Maybe we just came on an off day but yikes! It was very busy so it must not be too bad. read more

We were doing some business in Wimberley mid September and decided to stop for a nice lunch. We chose to try the Longleaf because of their outdoor dining area (this was during COVID). The patio is lovely and shady and nice. There was only one other table being used so we felt safe all spread out and being outside. When we saw the menu and prices we expected a very nice meal because it was NOT inexpensive. Sadly we were terribly disappointed. We both had glasses of wine that were good, but overpriced. We both ordered the Wagyu burgers- medium rare please. Uh no.... they came medium well. The bun was not toasted and there was only 1 tomato slice and 1 weak piece of lettuce on the burger with a breath of aioli on it. The meat to bun ratio is way off and for $18?! What the heck? This my friends was no $18. burger. It came with a very small side of potato's that were over fried, dry and just not good. Our server Beth was no where to be seen for over 10 minutes. So we each ate about 1/3 of our burgers before we just couldn't eat anymore. Wagyu is such a nice beef and to over cook it is a sin. This was one dry, gangly burger. We let our server know we were done and asked her to please show these to the chef to show they were way over cooked. We didn't want new ones- just wanted the kitchen to see what they put out. Our server asked if we wanted a complimentary dessert- but we had lost our appetites. She then asked us if we wanted her to try to get us a discount. We said we just wanted to have a nice lunch, but were now just sad and disappointed. We paid our tab- full price (it was an $88. plus tip disappointment) and went on our way. We are sorry it was so bad because this would have been a nice "go-to" when we are in WImberley- but it is now on our list of "where NOT to go" read more

I've been going there for years, but after today I and many customers will not be going back there. I lady claiming to be one of the owners of the establishment got into a verbal altercation with a waitress, whom we have found to be wonderful in the past. When I and another patron got up to leave she screamed at us to sit down. I was the closet customer to her and she spoke very loudly to me that she did not care how tall that I am she was not afraid of and to sit down. There were at least three people there that said that they dined at the restaurant 2 to 3 times a week and would not be returning. I am not sure what has happened to the place since I first met the owner Steve and the head chief Robert. It was own of our favorite places in Wimberley. Based on what the 2 ladies said about being the owners, I assume that Steve sold his restaurant to them? Such a shame to loose a nice place to eat in Wimberley. read more

First time ever coming here, was rudely greeted by the manager. She seemed annoyed by us coming in, walks us down the pathway and simply points to a table that we can sit at. Server greets us and brings some water, then the manager comes back, tells us the we are at is actually reserved for a large party and ask us to move but does offer to buy us an appetizer. After we move, our server comes back and we order drinks and an app, then that was the last time anyone approached us. Manager was quite rude, the server was fine and the one appetizer we got was quite delicious but won't be back due to the manager. read more

So yummy! The cocktail I had was the Zen + Tonic. It was so refreshing...I had 2! My husband also enjoyed his drink, although I can't remember the name.
