The first thing we noticed when we arrived was the sticky floors but that wasn't the worst part of our visit by a long shot. The servers were all on their phones, there were flies buzzing about, and there was no sense of urgency to bring us our food even though it was surprisingly quiet. However, the worst part were the WINGS. Chickens are meant to be plucked before consumption and my wings still had bristles. I don't believe this establishment went through the necessary procedures to check for food quality because I just about gagged when I took a bite. Had dinner here tonight and honestly, this place is subpar at best. We had a 7:30 reservation, Party of 5. We were seated right away which was great. Two of us ordered brisket- but they were all out. One ordered ribeye- also ALL OUT. Waitress seemed sweet and Food arrived at a reasonable time but was bland, unseasoned, plain....and the pulled pork was cold and had to be sent back. The place wasn't crowded but we had to go find the waitress to ask for more chips and they told us they'd been super busy. When the bill came, the waitress used an electronic handheld device (which we're accustomed to) but I kindly asked for a printed receipt instead of using tap to pay, since I was paying cash- and she replied she needed the CASH FIRST. The outdoor area next to the creek is a great spot for families, complete with a good-sized playset for kids. It was a little windy today so we sat indoors by the widow where we enjoyed a fantastic view of the creek. Service is friendly and helpful but quite slooooooow. The food is very basic. The potato skins were fairly good but they were completely burnt on the ends. The fish in the fish sandwich had a rubbery texture and an overpowering fishy smell. The dish came with only one side and the Caprese salad was devoid of olive oil, making it quite plain. Visited this restaurant while on a quick weekend trip to Wimberly. What attracted us to this location was the playground behind the restaurant. It was a great place for our two kids (4&6) to play while waiting for a table. The food was pretty good. We all devoured the chips,salsa, queso, and pretzel. I learned a little too late that they provide free chip refills. Unfortunately they did not have the pickle fries otherwise I'd have tried that. Maybe next time! I ordered the catfish po boy. It was decent overall but I added some of the pretzel mustards to give it a bit flavor kick. My kids enjoyed their meals (pancake and grilled cheese) and cleaned their plates off. Went here a couple times halfway between new Braunfels and dripping Springs. Met with friends and family and everybody seems happy. The food is good and the service was great and they also have a play area in the back for the kids talking about going back there today. Mex-tini spout was not screwed on right and poured 1/3rd of the drink on the table, when asking them to take care of the issue they filled the lost 1/3rd with zero alcohol and only juice, watering down the entire drink. When we asked for a water refill it tasted like they had put either sprite, we had to get a second refill instead. The pretzel and chips and queso&salsa were very good though. We came here on Sunday evening for dinner were greeted immediately, then once we got sat we never were acknowledged by a waitress . They were not busy with only a few tables seated in and out. We decided to move to the bar and Emily helped us immediately. She was very attentive and super friendly. I got the mahi tacos which were very good, with a side of green beans (very plentiful) and mash potatoes (very small portion) I forgot to take a pic. My friend got the fried fish with French fries. Fish was pretty good, but the fries portion was extremely small as you can see pictured. We have been a here a few times but just felt the need to write about my last experience. Definitely will be back just hope they can make minor adjustments to side portion size and let waitresses know to acknowledge their tables in a reasonable time. Had to take a trip to Wimberley and we found ourselves in its quaint downtown area for lunch. A variety of local shops, all lined with festival decor. There's even a Festival of Lights they host here. Nestled along a river, in symbiosis with its surroundings is Chills on the Creek. Aptly named, this small restaurant describes itself as comfort food, but the menu is highly influenced by Louisiana cuisine. Just off the main thoroughfare, you'll see an arch way that leads you down a stone path. Past a rustic suit of armor you'll find a small cafe with outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh air and forestry. We opted for the outdoor experience. While they offer a variety of southern comfort foods, we decided to give the smoke brisket tacos a try. My son had their beast burger, while the Bean tried the smoked cheese steak. Everything was delicious and savory. They have crafts and custom cocktails but we played it safe and had their strawberry lemonade. I encourage a day trip and just walk the beat. Try the different eateries and checkout all the wonderful shops. We'll be going back!! read more

Chills on the Creek - A Must-Stop in Wimberley! We found Chills on the Creek during our anniversary trip to Wimberley and instantly fell in love with the place. I had the best hamburger I've ever eaten, and my husband ordered the chicken fried ribeye -- both were absolutely delicious! Our server, Keira, was such a sweetheart and gave us amazing service. We sat outside on the patio, listened to great music, and enjoyed the beautiful view of the grounds. The whole experience was relaxing, fun, and full of that perfect Hill Country charm. This is my first time returning to Chills since the renovation. They've made the bar smaller for a larger inside seating area, and new bathrooms. It's very cute and there's ample seating inside and outside now. The staff is all very friendly and accommodating. We had some pineapple mimosas and some breakfast items. I really enjoyed the southwest eggs Benedict, which is served on tortillas with delicious pulled pork and Cajun seasoning. My friend had the pancakes and we shared the chicken and waffles. I wasn't as impressed with these items, but they were still good. Chills is conveniently located on wimberley Square in front of the creek. It's a beautiful spot to meet up and enjoy drinks or a meal. read more

We had a great time at this jewel of a restaurant on the square in Wimberly! The view of the river and the ambiance of the place is outstanding. Emily was our server and she was training Mia, they did an amazing job of timely keeping our drinks filled, getting our appetizer to us and recommending great items for dinner. We started off with the pickle fries, then ordered the Smoked Turkey Club with fries, the Ribeye Auj-eaux, with potato salad, Brisket stuffed Baked Potato, and the Cora-Bella burger....all were Delicious!! I would recommend this place if you have plenty of time to just hang out, enjoy watching children play, and love outdoor ambience. We were able to bring our beloved dog and they gave him.water- very thoughtful. We waited 45 minutes on a Wednesday to get a table for lunch. There were consistently many tables empty on the deck. We waited about 10 minutes before our wait person addressed us. Ten minutes after that, another wait person came to serve us. Our appetizer came out before we got our drinks, they make a good Rob Roy. I must confess, our drinks did come out first but they were given to another table, taken back to the kitchen, then came to our table. The queso was good. It took another 30 minutes to get our entrées. My husband was getting quite hangry. Finally a Cesar salad and a hamburger come to our table- they did not belong to us. Soon after that incident we received our order. I got the turkey club on sour dough bread, it was delicious. My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich on a brioche bun, entirely too much bread, but again delicious. Chills on the Creek is simply TERRIFIC. We are local and eat there at least once a week. We love the philly cheese steak tacos and the burgers. They also make a mean Mexican Martini and mamosas for breakfast! But honestly, our favorite thing about Chills on the Creek is the breakfast. When the lines in town at the local cafe are 45 min to an hour deep, we pop over to Chills for breakfast/brunch and are seated right away. Order the Cajun Eggs Benedict with Boudin Balls (add the pulled pork!) and you will be coming back week after week like we do! read more

We picked this place because of the atmosphere being at riverside in Wimberly. It was a mixed bag. First the good. The location is breathtaking. We asked our server if some of the items we were considering were good. She said they were! So my guest ordered a cocktail which promptly came out. Took pics so you can see the ambiance! I ate one and gave other one to my dog when I got home. My guest had a Cajun sandwich which was comprised of pulled pork and boudin! Again the meat was old or sitting awhile. It WAS NOT ENJOYABLE AT ALL. The cocktail was $10 with $2 off and looked nice but was a short shot in a 12 oz glass and was not good. - the ugly. We were trying to have a nice time and didn't want to cause a kerfuffel! The server gave us a verbal amount of like $56 and change. I paid in cash which brought it down to $53 and change without the tip. We both said NO WAY THAT IT WAS THAT MUCH MONEY! We did mention the meals sucked and we got a cursory acknowledgment that she would tell the chef! Hey there was NO CHEF INVOLVED HERE! Probably a kid who is clueless. We added up the amounts several times it did not add up. You count. We had water. Lemons maybe they charged for them? One cocktail! $8; one meal was $16.49 or $16.99 (brisket tacos served; A $3.50 adding for the shrimp etoufee and one spicy Cajun pork sandwich $13.99 or $14.99. That's it. My guest wanted me to call back and complain. I didn't do it so am venting here. You add it up. You don't need a calculator to figure out it did not add up to $56 and change. We left a generous tip because that what we do. Will probably 99% never return there. If you do go, get a hard bill and judge for yourself. read more

The food was delicious. As a vegetarian I have eaten hundreds of veggie burgers. This one was the best I ever had. It was so much food that I had two meals. The patty was tasty and the toppings fresh. I wish I knew where to buy the buns they use. Not the normal hamburger bun. Both of my friends had the chicken fried chicken. They loved it. My family and I just moved to the Wimberley area and have been here once before. It was a couple of years ago and I believe the dining room was under renovations. Our experience wasn't great that day but i figured, I'd give them a pass considering the circumstances. Tonight was worse and I really don't understand why...we arrived at 6:30 (Thursday). We waited 40 minutes to be sat which is fine. I expected a bit of a wait. Once we were sat, we were at the picnic tables near the playground. That was fine, but not my preference. The main issue was that we were on an island. The only ones in that area with a server that was clearly otherwise focused. We ordered an appetizer which was out within 7 minutes and ordered our food. A Caesar salad, kids chicken fingers and a pretzel. We then waited 45 minutes for our food to be delivered. Were visited maybe 4 times throughout the meal with apologies from the server for the delay. At one point we waited nearly 10 minutes with empty drinks. I want to say that the food was great. Again, a simple order but it was warm and tasty. Without that, I couldn't have given the second star. My general expectation with delays is some accountability and it didn't seem like there was any, tables on the patio seemed to get their food. Was ours forgotten by the server? Lost by the kitchen? Had a late dinner with some friends on a Thursday night. I was thrilled to find that the table and chairs were a perfect height for this 5 foot tall woman... Heaven! I can rarely touch my feet flat on the floor so this was a treat. My friends wouldn't let me try to steal a chair. My club sandwich was delicious! Not too much bread. The avocado was an excellent touch. Nice hushpuppies on the side. My friends enjoyed their meals although I was so focused on mine that I don't remember theirs. Same menu as lunch, Service was meh; 4 staff behind the reception desk but none could give us a table because they weren't the hostess, 10 minute wait for staff to come to table, incorrect bill. I don't like those "here's what you owe machines" without details of the order; ours was a 56 dollar meal but we were charged 68, because she "rang something wrong". Mind, no changes or special requests, just straight off the menu items. When my salad came out it was supposed to have 6 components but only came out with 4.. They did bring the other items when I asked. The cheese on the salad was a low grade cheese blend. Would I go back for dinner? No. Maybe lunch though. read more

Table of 9 at 11:30 on a Saturday. It took about 25 minutes to get a table (we chose outside picnic seating). We ordered the shishito peppers as an appetizer and would recommend them! They weren't spicy and were overall delicious. Once the food arrived in a reasonable time, we started eating, and everyone had a different experience with their lunch. The catfish was yummy and juicy! The fries were well-seasoned and crispy. Both sandwiches (caprese chicken and smoked turkey) were "bland" and lacked flavor. The Caesar salad was great and filling! The mahi tacos were excellent! The gumbo was very spicy, and there wasn't a spice level noted before ordering... great taste, but spicy! I have heard from most of the locals I talk to that Chills is mediocre. I disagree. Tonight I had the grilled chicken caesar for the second time. It was great - for the second time. The service was just fine. They have completely redone the inside - very nice. The outdoors is perfect ambiance. Only one negative - the place is called Chills - but the music blasting over the loudspeaker is anything but. Change that and they'll have a 5/5. read more
