I've brought two cars (foreign and domestic) to Longos Auto for repairs over the past 10 years. Frank is honest, fair, and cares about his customers. He would stay open late for me when he knew I was taking the train home from the city. I've shown up without an appointment and someone at the shop always takes time to diagnose the problem I am having. My cars are always ready on time after repair and I never need to return to get the same thing fixed more than once. I feel sorry for the person who had money taken from their car. You know this is South Norwalk, right? I've never had anything taken from my car, not loose change, no valuables, no stereo equipment. Be mindful that this garage does not have a secured lot so if you drop off here, use common sense and remove anything you would not want stolen. read more

Frank Longo is a fair and reliable mechanic with many years of experience working on a variety of foreign cars. I brought my Honda Accord here to get brakes and figure out why my car was shaking at high speeds. I dropped it off on my way to work (he has a slot to drop your keys off. Just make sure to attach your number and what you need done.) and by the time I came back, it was all fixed. He called me mid morning to discuss what he felt I needed and my repair and pricing options. He was very open and gave me a fair price. My car runs great, and I will be coming back here for as long as I am able to. He's that good! read more

I would give 0 stars if this was possible. This place robbed me and they will rob you too!!! Do NOT buy a car from here or bring your car here for repairs!!! They sold me a car that was promised to have 136k miles, four wheel drive, lights working properly an oil change and the check engines lights off. After speaking with some shady guy named John and the owner of the place I was promised these things. I was unable to register the car because the miles were changed on the title. I later found out the car was also rolled back over 100k miles. Both front lights were broken and needed to be replaced. The four wheel drive car that I was promised had the $850 4 wheel drive shaft removed which fully took away any hope of being 4 wheel drive. I was promised an oil change and that wasn't even done and on top of all of that 2 critical problems came on shortly after I was finally able to register the car. These guys are so sketchy and especially John (this pos can be reached at (203) 247-4981). DO NOT go here and never purchase a car front these guys! So sketchy. I have proof of all of these things and therefore this is not slander. I will also be suing the business as well as John. Do not go here unless you want to be screwed!! They were stupid af because they took a check for the purchase which tacks on so many more charges!! They will not be in business for long!!! read more

Went back for the second time to get oil changed and new break pads on the back. Mr. Longo called me to let me know i DIDN'T need break pads, I apparently had half the pad to go on them. Then he checked my engine as my engine light was on and let me know I needed new oxygen sensors, without me even asking him to do that. He's very honest and goes the extra mile. I brought my 2004 Honda Odyssey to Frank's a few years ago to replace motor mounts. The dealer had quoted $1200 - 1500 and Frank did the whole job for about $450. Now, I am going back to replace the rollers on my rear sliding door ... dealer quoted $1100 plus the $125 for the diagnostic - Frank says the part will cost about $100 and a few hours of labor. You don't get a free coffee while sitting in a dealer lobby, but you get reliable repairs at a great price by someone that used to work for a Honda dealer in the past. Highly recommended! read more

I brought my car in a few weeks ago for a suspicious fluid that was leaking and he had my car fixed by the time I got out of work that day! A fantastic experience! Professional, personable, listens to your concerns about the car to be worked on. As an out of state person, I went in with a 20 year old Mazda Miata MX-5 that failed emissions test, and had multiple other problems. Frank, the owner and, Padro, the mechanic, assured me that they could get the car repaired and able to pass the state emissions test. My son was flying from Georgia to drive the car back to GA three days later. Frank and Padro came in on Saturday, a normal day off, to get the car ready for the re-test and the drive back to Atalanta. After a test drive a "new" noise was discovered and Padro knew exactly what to fix, which he did on the spot. It was such a pleasure to work with these two men who were honest and fair. After I left, I went to get the emissions test-test, forgot the paperwork, had to go back and they were more that helpful in getting everything I needed along with suggesting a closer testing station. Armed with a name of the testing tech to talk to, everything went smoothly and, with emissions certification in hand I was on my to getting the car to my son to drive to Atlanta. I would trust Frank Longo (and Padro) to work on any car I have. SEEMS HE PURPOSELY BROKE WINDOW, WHEN WE WOULDN'T DO REPAIRS WITH THEM. Had gone previously were polite, went ballistic for no reason. Car failed emissions test, we expected and aren't angry about it. It is an old car. However, first Longo Auto would not return the car without an argument. They demanded almost 700$ on the spot, we called other repair shops and were told that was high. We nicely asked for the car back, however, the service people there went ballistic. After six hours we got our car back and they had purposefully damaged the window motor, a problem that had never existed. The automatic window went down once, and wouldn't go back up. This problem NEVER existed prior to the six hours or so the car spent at the vindictive Longo's Auto Disrepair. Again, this is after being forced to leave it with them a few hours. When I called first thing in the morning the person on the phone started avoiding any responsibility and started cursing and using racial language. They called again and left more invective. Don't understand. NEVER DO EMISSIONS TESTING WITH THIS BUSINESS. read more

I first became acquainted with Longo's Auto repair over the summer. After reading its "1", "5 Star" review... My vehicle had a leak, which I needed repair. So I called to make an appointment to bring it in. Day 1: I call first thing in the morning to see if I can bring in my car. My information was taken, and I was told I would receive a call back. 5pm rolls around and I call back. Apparently the owner left for the day. But he had my information... Day 2: Call again first thing in the morning. Explained what happened the day before. I receive... Kinda an apology? And am told the owner will call me back. I call again after lunch and am told the owner had to go out of town for the day, try again tomorrow. Day 3: Success! I get the owner. I'm told to bring in my car. My car was at at the shop for over 1 week. I was told i'd be called with updates. I wasn't. I had to call everyday, to hear a different story about how parts had to be ordered from various shops, and when the order was placed, it turns out it was out of stock. So after a little over 1 week, i receive my car. Flash forward to 2 months later. My car has the SAME LEAK again. Keep in mind this car doesn't get driven much. So when I called to talk to the owner, I got a very nervous reaction, and was told to bring my car in after the weekend. So I bring my car in first thing monday morning. I'm told I will receive a call later in the day on the status of the car. I was preoccupied for the day, so I told Mr. Longo that my girlfriend might call later in my place to check. So when my girlfriend calls later. Mr. Longo tells my girlfriend that the "same leak" that was repaired "2 months" ago, is back and now a "new part" needs to be ordered. So my girlfriend inquires about the length of time that they had my car prior to this newest incident, and how they could've missed this after being so "thorough"... Mr. Longo then hung up the phone, abruptly. And refused to answer the phone after that. So after calling a mechanic friend, to discuss this "new part", I was informed that my model of vehicle and the year my vehicle was made, the part DOES NOT EXIST. But miraculously, Mr. Longo was able to find this non-existent part, and was willing to charge me full price, again, for something that his establishment has supposedly fixed. When I confronted Mr. Longo on my suspicions. I was met with a nervous rebuttal, and had to sit through a painstaking 5 minute computer demonstration, showing some unlabeled piece of machinery , from who knows what part of what car. And was supposed to decipher that the line drawing i was being showed was the part that I was needed. Needless to say, I took my key, my car, and left, and will never be back there again. 2 reviews, 5 stars each... I don't think so. Following a horrible experience I had at Midas, the price gougers, I took my car to Longo's. Fast, easy service and the best prices anywhere. I compared with 3 other places. My dealership quoted $249, in Westport they quoted $350 and Longo's $185 for front brake pads. I had just gotten a diagnostic at my dealership on my one year old car. I needed brake pads in front, no rotors. Midas said I needed rotors and that "no one else knows what they were talking about." Midas is pathetic and I'm reporting them. As for Longo's, it was the best experience of ver. Pleasant and efficient and not trying to cheat women like Midas in Norwalk. read more

Another positive experience at Longo's Auto Repair. My 1994 Geo Tracker needed a new muffler assembly. Once again, I got all the parts myself (all Bosal parts). I probably saved $50. I handed over everything to Frank in the morning and picked it up after work. Car is way quieter, don't feel vibration anymore under me, and acceleration definitely improved. In terms of labor cost, all I can say is that it was cheaper than I thought and overall, that's good enough for me. read more

I've taken my car to Honda of Westport every time I've needed to get an oil change. At every oil change, I also pay to have my tires rotated as I'm on the road for work. Recently, my car started producing a high squeeling noise, I took it in for the oil change, tire rotation and to check why it was making the noise. The agent comes back saying I need new breaks and that the rotors are damaged but can't guarantee that that's the problem unless they "take it apart and get in there to look at it". Oh, and it'll cost me $650 to repair it. After thinking it through, googling what the noise could be, watching some YouTube videos on brakes (I'm not mechanically savy at all) I learned that no, you don't need to "get in there" to determine if you need new break pads, you can see their condition when you take a tire off (which I had been paying them to do on all four wheels every time I was there!). After all the times I had taken it to Honda of Westport, they have always come back saying everything was fine including breaks and tires. Sine I need my car for a long trip later the next day, I take my care to Longo's the following morning, he has his mechanic check the brake pads with a flashlight and even he can see I have nothing, no pads, metal on metal. He not only replaces my pads and rotors but he does it before the time I needed my car back by AND at close to half the price!!!! I left Honda of Westport feeling taken advantage of, lied to and with the sense that they're more concerned with making $650 than keeping a longterm customer happy OR safe on the road. First, let me say, I have a lot of experience with auto repair as my family and I keep our cars a long time and therefore, I've experienced many mechanics over the years. That said, Frank (Longo's Auto Repair) is an excellent mechanic but perhaps more importantly (in my view), he runs a business with a HIGH degree of integrity. When the engine on my older Jeep Grand Cherokee died, I was referred to Longo's as the place to have the engine replaced. Frank's quote was fair and he did a great job in replacing the engine and getting my Jeep up and running as it was before the engine replacement. Since that time, Frank has done everything from brake work, water pumps, drive belts, timing belts as well as changing fluids and all the work is done with a high degree of integrity. Additionally, since that time, I have had Frank do work on an older Acura. Prior to finding Frank, the Acura had been worked on by another mechanic with a very good reputation locally. However, the radiator on the car had been blowing out such that the coolant in the car was running out of the car. After replacing the radiator twice and supposedly doing diagnostic testing, the other mechanic said that the problem had to be a head gasket (which is commonplace for Honda's and Acura's). The cost of replacing a head gasket was quoted at around $2,000. I brought the car over to Frank who did a pressure test on the car and said he absolutely believed that it did not need a head gasket. In fact, he stated that it simply needed the radiator to be installed correctly. I trusted Frank after the great job he did on the new engine (and related repairs) on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and let him replace the radiator, as he suggested. In fact, he was right and since that repair, I've put almost 10k miles on the 23 year old Acura without any of the prior issues of the radiator 'exploding' as was happening with the prior mechanic. Clearly, there was no need for a $2,000 head gasket so Frank saved me a great deal of money. I don't write reviews often particularly due to the fact that integrity of character seems to be an elusive quality these days. However, I highly recommend recommend Frank for this very reason. He does excellent work at fair prices and he runs his business with a high degree of integrity. read more
