Been using Aamco for many years now. I had a 2002 Chevy Astro van that kept them busy quite a bit. My van got totaled and, now using my 2006 Murano which needed quite a bit of work. Steve the owner is very friendly and accommodating. Treats me as fairly as possible. They do great work and is my goto when I'm having an issue. The Staff is very personable/friendly. Wow! Such a wonderful find for an auto repair shop! Steve and Clara are so friendly and honest! I brought my 10 year old car in for a strange knocking noise which appeared and then disappeared. Steve test drove the car and said the suspension seemed fine but he would have his mechanic check it out. They determined that a rock had been in the tire tread banging around. With over 100,000 miles in my car, they could have easily told me there was some other costly problem. These are honest folks, though, and the total cost to me today was $0. Two years ago Aamco replaced my air conditioner. Not cheap $600 Last summer I had to take it in for another $150 to get my tubes unclogged. This summer same thing. Checked my car in to get tubes unclogged. Was told it was a little more of a process and would be twice the price of last summer $300+. They gave me an appointment but, Unfortunately they had my car for three days and never got around too fixing the problem. I was told there were people out with Covid etc. but having my car for three days was unacceptable without fixing the problem. read more

I took my car to this shop in the beginning of the year and was told it was a battery. Had the battery checked and had to send the car back to this shop to find out why it was shutting off. I was told it was a BMC problem and they were working on it. After a moth and a half I'm told they are looking for the part and they got the wrong BCM. Two months now and to no avail. I take it to another shop and see that Aamco (this shop) never put my pieces back to my trunk handle or license plate. There was the cup holder that was not snapped in place. Steve said if I bring it back, they will put the handle and license back on! WHAT!!! This next Auto shop took a look at the car and said it was NOT a BCM problem but a control panel and wires. He said there was finger prints all inside my car under the dashboard and wires burnt and out of place! There was other parts that was NOT PUT BACK in its PLACE!! I'M BLASTING THIS LETTING PEOPLE KNOW ON SOCIAL MEDIA DO NOT GO TO AAMCO IN NORWALK on MAIN STREET! MY CAR WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOST!!! THANK GOD I had GOOD insurance and GAP insurance! P.S. The store manager, Clara, couldn't have been nicer and really broke everything down for me since I'm not a "car person" myself. She kept me in the loop on the status of my car, organized a ride home for me while my car was being serviced and set me up with a loaner car when the shop determined they had to keep the car overnight. The owner, Steve, was also incredibly friendly and personally drove the car with me to hear the issue we were having with the transmission. We have had some on going car repairs that have been incredibly expensive (aren't they all?). It's hard to know sometimes if a mechanic is trying to over sell you when you don't know car stuff or speak that language. I have taken my car to a few places and got several quotes that were astronomical. One place was also incredibly demeaning to me as a customer. After a trip to Aamco I got one that was actually more in my price range! For the same work! Not only was it more affordable, Clara (sorry I may be spelling that wrong!) and Steve never did any repair work without explaining every thing to me. And this is quite a feat as my kids are in the background making all the noise in the world. I really appreciated their patience and time. And they gave me a deal on an oil change & the repair work! I've been taking my Astro van here for past year or so. Very friendly and accommodating. I was having trouble with my trans axle the wheels kept binding up when making turns at slow speed. Thinking it was possibly trans axle issue (it's AWD). Steve the owner took a look at the fluid and saw it looking fine. He noticed the wear on my front tires and suggested it may have to do with the tires. I happen to have snow tires so I had the tires swapped out. To my shock it appeared to work. No binding issue. Now Steve could of sold me on the idea of a new trans axle but he didn't even bother replacing the fluid since it looked good and, sent me to have the tires changed. I had a great experience with Steve Grandinetti's Aamco during the most recent Nor'easter last week. I went through water on the road and the undercarriage cover became detached from my Lexus RS350 and was dragging on the road. I called Steve and he had me bring the car right in, the mechanic put it on the lift and repaired it quickly, and saved me significant cost if I had to drive further distance that would have damaged the cover. It's now 8/7/15 and after picking up the car last week, Steve mentioned that he'd like me to come back the following day just to check and make sure everything was in good shape since the car was being driven to Maine (300 miles) the following day and he wanted to prevent any surprises. All went well on the trip and the transmission performed as expected. Verdict: Good customer service and attention to detail. I can recommend. Also, a good practice with any garage is to put a 'cap' on the price of the work which Steve was willing to do. May have saved me some $$$. read more

My Escalade happened to break down on Christmas Eve in Westport, CT. I immediately suspected transmission issues. I had the car towed the following day to AAMCO in Norwalk where I was immediately called by Clara to give me the diagnosis. She was very polite and forthcoming; explaining everything that the car needed to get it back to operating normal again. I gave her the go ahead to start the job. Within a couple of days, the car was ready to be picked up. AAMCO did however warn me that on a transmission rebuild, because these cars are highly complicated with electronics that help run the transmission, it's quite possible to have to bring the car back for a couple of tweaks that they would take care of. The business owner STEVE is a very reputable individual. I actually had to take my car back to him a couple of times for tweaks and each and every time he accommodated me immediately. He even went out of his way to drop me off at the train station to save me the cost of an Uber ride. It's rare today to deal with honorable people. AAMCO in Norwalk is an extremely reputable business. They stand behind their work. I would go back to them in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this business to anyone in need of a transmission repair or replacement. read more

I am already impressed with this location and I haven't even had service done on my vehicle yet! I will update once the service is complete Monday. We recently had a horrible experience at Midas up the road from here. We left feeling like our car was unstable & unsafe to drive - before the appointment everything. Was fine. I am about to have our second child and we have a toddler. This is our only car. So we were concerned. I called and explained the situation to Steve. After confirming that our family was safe he let us know to bring the car in today (Saturday - Feb 14th) to see what was going on with the car. Unfortunately we got there about 5 min after close. But the staff (Billy in particular) was amazing. I explained the situation and immediately he made sure the car was safe to drive for us. He didn't make us feel like a problem. After close on a holiday?! I couldn't believe how nice they were. They even gave my daughter a donut! They confirmed it was safe enough to drive back to our apt but let us know to bring it in Monday and they can do a full inspection. I am incredibly grateful as it put my mind at ease. Later we received a call from the owner Steve making sure that we were safe. This was such amazing customer service. We will absolutely be bringing our car back Monday for the repair work. read more

Just brought our car in with a strange bucking/hesitation problem, no codes and no check engine light. Clara got us in quick, and Steve and Eddie did a software update on the transmission. Would not charge me a dime unless it worked, which unfortunately it didnt. Got it back in the next day, and knowing we needed the car for a vacation trip in two days, Eddie test drove it and did everything to isolate the problem, which we thought might require a new transmission. Eddie diagnosed it as coil pack and intake gaskets. Got it fixed same day at 1/4 the cost of a new tranny! At all times, their primary concern was for our safety and keeping our costs as low as possible. Even asked us to check in after our vacation drive, which showed no signs of any problem at all! Trust Steve implicitly with our cars. Eddie is a great mechanic, and Clara at the front desk is the best! Can't recommend them enough! read more

Horrible experience with this place! I had my transmission rebuilt on my 2008 Ford Edge about 6mos ago, spent $4,200+, and since being "rebuilt", I've had to bring it back 5X for the SAME problems: Transmission continues to leak, knocking, and getting stuck in gears. Last night my husband and I were stuck in Yonkers at 1AM because the transmission wouldn't shift out of first gear! We called AAMCO in Yonkers and they wanted to charge us $200 to get the car. AAMCO corporate of course has no customer service line to file complaints. STAY AWAY from this location and company! read more

While this is only my second time working with Steve and his team it certainly will not be my last. I hate dealing with car stuff and usually feel like I am being taken advantage of in some way when I visit some mechanics. I feel totally at ease dealing with AAMCO. Both times they have taken care of my car and I came away feeling like a winner. The first time was a pricey transmission issue but they still came in under the dealership price. The second time I needed my tail light housing replaced. I ordered it online and was going to have the dealership replace, but once again turned to AAMCO as they are right around the corner from me, let me just say the price was right! Steve got me in with very short notice. Also, as we are in the midst of a pandemic, when I came to pick up my car everywhere they touched was covered in plastic which I greatly appreciated.
