By far my favorite Longs Drugs location. From the convience of living in the same neighborhood, to seeing the same employees, to being familiar with the layout of the store. My only minor complaint (I don't hold it against the store) is that once in a great while they will rearrange the whole store - which happens every few years - and I have to get used to which aisle I have to go down to get the products I usually get. Other than that, the employees are nice, the store is clean and there is plenty parking spaces at this small shopping center in Hawaii Kai. read more

Located in Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. Very convenient. I've used both the pharmacy and the photo center. I've also been to this drugstore just for general things. I've never had a problem here. Pharmacy: Like any other pharmacy. Wait can be long depending on if it's busy or not. I haven't had any type of service going above and beyond like say if there was a mishap. But at least it was up to par. Well for that reason I haven't used this pharmacy in years, so I can't speak on the matter pertaining to now. Photo Center: Has two kiosk stands (Kodak). $0.20/1hr print, I find that to be pricy. It's pricier for the instant print.. But service is fast. I used the 1hr prints here multiple times and received my photos within 10-15 minutes, sometimes sooner depending if it's not busy. Great customer service all around. And a good location. read more

Hawaii Kai CVS Keahole Street. Lazy worker there. Did'nt want to help me find an advertised product. I even showed him the Sunday ad. All he said was " Oh, I don't know." I asked "Can you tell me where else I could possibly look for it because we called and someone said its in stock" He replied, " not sure." He continued to laugh and joke around with other clerk over in the Photo Dept. Taller skinny guy with glasses. His name starts w "H" , but I'm certain it starts w a "U" for USELESS. I left in DISGUST! Best I stick to Kaneohe CVS where the staff are so much more caring and they take the time to walk with you to find the product. HAWAII KAI YOU FAILED ME AGAIN. read more

This is one of the many Longs Drugs stores onOahu that is there when you need them. Whenever you need something, Longs is always there, until Walgreens started to make its presence known and competition just heated up. Along with Wal-Mart and Costco, the retail establishment has become one of those scenes where you just can't go in and buy anymore. You just got to price compare and know what you are buying before getting ripped off in the process. Like any Longs Drugs on the island, they are consistent with the products and prices. Sometimes, they can be priced higher than normal, but I guess it just depends on the product and demand. This is one of my favorite Longs locations, apart from Kahala Mall and Kamehameha Shopping Center. Alot of times, I would go here and find what I need even though Kahala Mall has it too. Just depends on whether or not I am in the area or not. The staff here are wonderful and full of joy. Everything here is well stocked and well managed, so I can get in and out in minimal amount of time. I have known this place to be at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center for as long as I can remember. While they have recently been taken over by CVS to counter Walgreens, they are no less the Longs Drugs you and I go to every single day. I realize it can get crowded during peak times, but the again alot of places are like that. During the morning, lunch time, and after work times to buy stuff. Even late at night you would find people needing stuff for the next day. I'm not too sure if this Longs is 24/7, but if you really need something, Wal-Mart can be your 2nd best bet if this Longs (or any other) is closed and you need something extra fast. I thought the workers at Longs Drugs Hawaii Kai were slow moving. Now I think they're slow in every aspect of the word. For its category, in the area, my first choice is still Costco, followed by Walgreens and now strangely enough, followed by Safeway. Save yourself the aggravation. It's not worth it. Today I had one if the worst cashiers ever! Went into Longs to exchange some Christmas lights (BF had bought multi-colored instead of white) and headed to the Express Line to check-out. I told my cashier that I wanted to exchange my multi-colored lights for white ones and buy two other items. Instead of doing an exchange she did a refund. The WORLD'S SLOWEST REFUND... First she took my receipt and circled one item. Then she scanned a box of lights and put it under her register. (I looked at her perplexed and thought, "No..." Then she went back to the receipt to circle the second item. Then she scanned a box of lights and put it under her register. (I stared at her and thought, "Yes...*$^*#&%*) Then she went back to the receipt to circle the third item. Then she scanned a box of lights and put it under her register. (I just really stopped thinking at this point because this was just idiotic.) She refunded me $6.88 but only gave me back $6.87 because she was a penny short and told me she'd give it back to me when her manager came. Then she rang in my items, slooooooowly might I add, and my total came out to $20.88. I gave her a $20 bill and the $.87 cents from my refund. Oh and I told her that she still owed me a penny. Of course she didn't understand anything that I said and told me I owed her another penny. I thought the hobo behind me trying to buy his forty was going to scream. This review is for the pharmacy only!! Last night around 8ish I went to pick up a refill prescription that I had call it in 14 hrs prior. The tech told me that the med was not ready. I thought I heard it wrong since I had a very long day. So she repeated that the refill was not ready yet. She had just put in the order again for me and that it will be ready in 10 minutes. She went on to state that they were really backed up , so they didn't refill the medicine from this morning's order. I told her that it was really not acceptable and she went on to agree with me. I really don't blame the tech, I need to blame management!! What are you guys doing?? Hire more help!!! The floor manager that was walking around was so clueless as to what was going on in the pharmacy dept. Can't believe he call himself a manager! I am so disgusted that I wasted almost 1 hr waiting for a refill that was called in more than required time. The more I think about it the more I am very angry that this had to happen. There were many other customers there that waited "patiently" for their medications. The head of pharmacy dept really need to see why this is happening and correct the problem soon!! read more

I am a Longs addict. My husband had band me from there for a year because I could never buy just one thing. Usually 2 bags of items was the norm. So I admit - I took a little bit of a sabbatical. :) I like the location and size of the Longs and they seem to always have everything in stock and are well organized. It is well lit and very clean! It is a great place for your general items as well as souvenirs and snacks! I am giving it 3 stars - which pains me - because the many times that I have been here their check out service is sooooo slooowww. I can't even tell you why that would be - seriously - it is never so crowded that it would warrant that at all. I am just stumped - it is like this one particular Longs got the rejects. The cashiers that were just looking for another job because they had to get a paycheck. I also am not that thrilled about the pharmacy. That part of the store actually always has a long line that goes at a snails pace and when I get up to the front - the woman behind the counter always reads the prices of my medicines and says "WOW that's expensive!" EVERY TIME! Seriously - what do you say to that ..."um sorry"? I am always floored when she does that. She even throws in a chuckle while she is at is. I miss my old Longs location off Beretania - I miss any Longs but this one. But I go because it is right down the street and I like the store itself - isn't that funny the store gets more credit from me than the workers! HA! read more

Unfortunate that this store has a 2 1/2 star rating. I don't like giving a negative review. But, I know that most large companies train their employees with strict understanding of highly professional customer service. This is why I am so surprised to hear of the experience my sister had the other night at the register. She attempted to pay for a product that had a coupon attached to it. The clerk said with a negative tone in her voice, "I cannot use this. Coupon expired last year." My sister said, that's not my problem. Anyway, she just let the manager know that she wanted to buy the product and was disappointed at her treatment. No professionalism was seen that night, unfortunately. read more

Aaahhh, Longs! I do love this place. Aside from all the sales that they have every week, the prices are pretty competitive and they have the cheapest Grey Goose, Stoli, and Absolut than mostly everywhere else on the island.....especially when they go on sale which is pretty often!! Their beer prices are also really good, though their selection is not as good as their hard liquor selection. The store is clean and neatly organized and not really ever too crowded. Love it! I went to the minute clinic and waited one hour before the elderly woman before me sought out a store manager to express her concern over the long wait. The manager knocked on the door to the minute clinic and a female practitioner came out to assist the elderly woman. There was nobody in the office with her so she was clearly not with another patient, obviously napping or texting or doing something else non-work-related while on the clock. The practitioner was not wearing a name tag so I later called the store and minute clinic to ask for her name to file a complaint regarding her incompetency. Both the store and minute clinic refused to provide me with the practitioners name "for safety reasons." Why, then, do the other workers wear name tags? I will be complaining to HR regarding my visit to the minute clinic in hawaii kai on saturday 4/6/19 between the hours of 9-11 AM. They should be able to narrow down the worker whose name they refuse to provide me. I did not feel the practitioner was apologetic, nor do i feel she should be getting paid to be sitting in an empty office while there are patients waiting to be seen for an hour - would have been over an hour if the woman ahead of me hadnt complained to another worker to investigate the situation. read more

Slowest pharmacy ever. I've been in line for the pharmacy to drop off a prescription for about 20 mins. No one in line to pick up prescriptions but still the other worker isn't helping me. I, too, have noticed the level of service has declined since Long's was bought by CVS, however, the Hawaii Kai store is still, by far, the best. In particular, their pharmacy staff is outstanding, truly going beyond the call to help you with what you need. Even after we move to Kaimuki, I would rather drive to Hawaii Kai than use the Kahala or Kaimuki locations for my subscriptions, both of which have not just unhelpful, but down right rude pharmacy staffers. In addition, I have tried twice to use a 40% coupon off "any full priced item" that I received in the mail as a CVS network member, and they always have some rationale why the full priced item I want to purchase doesn't "qualify" for the discount...and they tell you this in a curt manner in front of other customers. This location is going downhill fast. I have been shopping at this location for over 20 years and more and more I gave to shop in town before I come home as the are always out of the ad items. Went in on Monday empty shelves, well ok got hit from the Sunday shoppers. Well went back on Thursday, plenty of time to restock still empty. Still EMPTY. Clerks stop asking if you found everything okay as they are well aware of the response they will get so why set them self up. Need to change management here. read more

MAY DAY LEIS- its that time of year graduations and may days. I was in a rush yesterday morning and needed to grab some last minute leis. I was excited to see all the leis were right in the front as you walk in!! VERY CONVENIENT. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Derp! I'm such a Long's lover. My wife busts me for Long's being my favorite store. I thought about it and that's quite likely true. I was just there yesterday for some shaving cream and other stuff. I always have to cruise the food aisles to see which items are yellow tag deals. Serious deals! Sometimes the ends of aisles (facing the aisles) have clearance stuff. As far as Longs go in east Honolulu, this one is roomy, has ample parking, and doesn't always have the pervasive urine smell a lot of other nearby Longs stores have. The selection in the beauty department is pretty good, the store associates keep the place well stocked and orderly. The shelves are almost always full and tidy, and someone is always nearby to ask for assistance if needed. I particularly like that the staff here seem to be in good spirits most of the time and are not only helpful but engaging and friendly when they help. I'm not quite on first name bases with any of the staff, but it always makes me feel good when someone recognizes my face and talks to me in a cheerful, friendly way. This Longs doesn't have it all, isn't the most stocked in terms of a large variety of different inventory, but it is spacious and has the best Longs Staff I've ever seen. And it's in my 'hood and open 24 hours. Super plus! read more

This Longs has only 2.5 stars but they don't get it. Management should be changed here. They don't service their community. They never have ad items unless you go at the crack of dawn on a Sunday morning. Now that ads run a full week they should be able to replenish during the week but they don't. I swear every time I go into this store I regret it. I was waiting to check out with my dad and step mom. They were standing on the social distancing sticker on the ground and I was standing directly in front of them easily 10 feet from the people at the end checking out. Jery the cashier yelled at me and told me I needed to step back then refused to ring me out calling over the manager. This move by the way - moved her closer than 6 feet to me and directly next to the manager which makes no logical sense. Her reaction was zero to 60 and so unnecessary when given the situation. We had masks on and WERE obeying social distancing. I have no doubt in my mind I was being treated as a tourist because I'm white when I live right down the street and have for years. Yet again horrible customer service at this location and now I'll truly NEVER go back to this store after being reprimanded like a child in front of other customers for no reason at all. read more

Normally I love going to Longs but there is one cashier thats just too much. Her name is Lulu and I don't know why people in Waianae don't turn her in. Everyone I talk too have something to complain about her. She's rude and obnoxious to so many customers...unless you are a male and good looking. Today I went in with a basket full of things and put the basket one the belt. She looks at me and rolls her eyes like she normally does and dumps all my things on the belt like it was such a hassle for her to ring up so much. ummmmmmm doesn't she realize without customers she doesn't have a job? If everyone only bought one thing once a week; Longs wouldn't be in business. I prefer going to Pearl Ridge or Kapolei where the employees are so much nicer and always have a smile no matter how tired they are. Normally Waianae employee's are wonderful; but this one employee is the one person that makes Waianae Longs look like nothing. read more

Longs Drugs Hawaii Kai has been around for over twenty years and the feel of the store has changed little over that time. The service has remained fairly responsive and the staff are still friendly despite naturally having changed over time. There have been times when I've stood in line for longer than I would have liked to due to registers not opening up. On one late night trip I was made to wait for a good while while employees were checking inventory at a register right in front of me. I was the only customer in the store at the time. Overall I have had very pleasant shopping experiences there and the staff have been helpful. I've usually been able to find what I'm looking for there with little trouble. read more

Oh August... I can't believe you've arrived, how fast summer flew by. And now here I am running around last minute registering my five year old little munchkin for school....which also means the last minute TB test for her! Thank goodness for this awesome minute clinic in Longs Hawaii Kai! They have been my go to place to take my daughter to for anything she needs. Usually grandma is the one who takes her since mommy is always stuck at work but luckily today was mommy and daddy 's day off! So what turned into an unplanned surprise day out for little mini me also turned into last minute school registration errands for mommy! Located in Hawaii Kai shopping center across the street from McDonald's and near the shack Longs has a 24 hour pharmacy and now after being renovated a new minute clinic, which is a relief since it's also near by grandmas house. Parking is decent, meaning always looks full but somehow you can always find parking in no time and no bumper to bumper traffic! Lol When you walk in, the place looks surprisingly more spacious then it used to look back in 2009. And staff are always smiling and friendly and has no problem saying hi! I appreciate that so much even if it is just a drugstore. So you need to walk all the way towards the back of the store and on the left side of the 24 hr pharmacy there is the minute clinic. Which is two little private office spaces and outside is an online check in station which I think is smart and efficient. They also have its own small waiting area with a few chairs separated from the pharmacy pick up area which makes it less crowded! To our dismay when we got there around 130pm the sign on the door said they were on lunch till 215pm. Bummer but I appreciated that you can still use the machine to sign in and it says it will send you a text message when your turn is next. Great! We decided to get s coffee! So after being able to get a coffee and sit down and relax for a bit and use the restroom we came back and I was surprised when the doctor took me right away as if they were waiting for us! No sitting around and waiting longer with awkward silence I love it!!! I liked how professional and informative this guy was and also very friendly to my daughter he answered any questions we had and was very efficient. literally in and out in about 20 minutes but at the same time I didn't even feel rushed! My daughter didn't even cry but I could tell she wasn't happy with the shot lol so the doctor was nice enough to give her 3 stickers and made her feel better! I really wish I got his name. The place itself is also very clean and sanitary. I recommend coming to this Minute clinic location for any quick or last minute needs you have. read more

On 4/30/18 around ten a.m. I stopped in at the Hawaii Kai store for a few items. I should have been in and out of there in a matter of minutes but unfortunately I ended up in Andrea's line on register #1. Her name tag identified her as a trainee so I was prepared for things to move slower than usual and she did not disappoint. But that was the least of her problems. The customer in front of me gave this cashier a BOGO coupon for shampoo right at the start. Andrea did not remember to honor the coupon before she closed out the sale. The customer was very nice about this oversight and took the coupons back. In addition to the aforementioned shampoo and some other items, the customer bought two big bottles of beer, cans of pork and beans and a can of corned beef. Andrea packed everything, including all the heavy items, into single - as in, not doubled - thin paper bags. I kid you not, I could see the corned beef peeking out of the top of the bag. The nice lady customer just picked up the paper bags very carefully, put them in her shopping cart and went on her way. It was finally my turn and thank goodness I didn't buy much but she still managed to screw up. I mentioned at the outset that I had a case of water in my cart. She said okay. She forgot to ring it up. I would not be writing this if I got the impression that she was trying to do a good job or was at least sorry about her mistakes, but she did not give off that vibe at all. There are quite a number of other employees at this store - Jeri, for one - who are really great at customer service. On this day I guess I met the exception that proves the rule. read more
