    Pot roast

I haven't lived on the Eastside for many years so I don't come to this location much anymore and am surprised at some of the changes that were made. Parking is still, NOT an issue. Though the market is busy, people are coming and going so waiting for a stall to open up is minimal or non-existent. There are a lot of gift giving products as well as Kadomatsu for the New Year. New Asian products are displayed throughout the store, in the center of the aisles. Came today to pick up lunch for mom. The sushi area is quite extensive with a few refrigerated sections well stocked with a wide variety of sushi. The plate lunch counter was a little busy, so it gave me time to look over the menu and food. I love the mashed potatoes so I got a double order. I opted for the pot roast. Simply wonderful as I don't make this at home. I asked if there was wine in the sauce BEFORE I ordered.( Some places do use wine but don't cook it off so the flavor is very pronounced. Blech! Mom & I had a wonderful lunch though the freshly roasted sweet potatoes were sold out. I was able to pick up a few more last minute gifts while I was there. Still a great market with a hometown vibe. Friendly, helpful staff make for pleasant shopping experience.

Reviewing pie First time seeing whole Times pie on 12/28/25. Eating it on 12/30, left sitting outside cuz I forgot about it. Crust stayed delish! Tasted like Sunnyside but made with Crisco (but actually made with just oil), as it was crispier and little thicker... Bought the peach pie for only 6.99! Had pumpkin pie and blueberry pie also on that day. Not sure what other whole pies they make. I shop at this Times often but never seen these before. I hope they continue to make pies (and keep the price at 6.99). Superb!

Friday October 4, 2025 I went in to buy a case of bottled that was $7.99. My total was $106.00??!! Lol. Also, extra of I picked up 1 pound of Hawaiian Style Poke and 1/2 a pound of Hawaiian Style Dried Aku, 3 pounds of Envy Apples, 3 pounds of Okinawan Sweet Potatoes, Mucinex, a tray of Ikura Sushi, Hydrogen Peroxide and I think that was it. The longer I stay in the store. The more I see and the more I buy. Lol. One trip to Times instead of many times is cheaper. Lol. That's okay. I find most of the stuff in 1 store. Convenient and saves TIME. I will continue to shop here as it's down the street from where I live and on the way after work then I can head to go home. I love this place!

I love the food selection in this super market. The sushi looks good in quality and actually pretty cheap. The seafood is air shipped from Japan . They also have many desert options I was tempted to buy. Everything looks really good and well worth it. The only thing I found interesting was their section organizing, as they had a breakfast section with both maple syrup and those challenge fruit jellies. It's a good place, 9/10.

Grocery shopping in the Kahala area of Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawaii... Our friend was looking for the Meadow Gold brand of Lychee Lemonade. It comes in a carton and seems to be on sale currently. Maybe that's why it was all sold out. Anyway, we appreciate the free parking, pleasant air-conditioning, and clean, bright environment! We browsed the produce, bakery, deli, meat, and pharmacy departments. Everything was in order! We'll be back! Thank you!

The sign of the Times... When a supermarket is just that and not a whole complex where it's a journey and a half just to get a single item and that's the reason for this visit...well two items, a red onion and cilantro. Having a task at work it was something that I had to have an since I was in the Kahala Mall I decided on Whole Foods for convenience and was surprised of the prices and thought to go elsewhere since price was something I didn't want to compromise and was shocked to see it was no difference here as well and decided to just get it. Walking up and down the aisle since I'm here it's nice to see nothing really much has changed and though the layout and aisle is a bit narrow than the more updated places this piece of nostalgia is nice as it's well organized and clean...my onion was bad btw which was disappointing but it was my choice. Thank you!

Alot of Asian Snacks along the back wall by the meat department.

Times Kahala is my second favorite location to come to for a bunch of reasons to be honest I think the selection is bigger compared to most times and it has more of a specialty feel with all of the Asian snacks and drinks this location has. Also they have a bigger plate lunch counter with plates like tonkatsu curry and bentos and bakery. The Frozen section has a bunch of stuff my normal times doesn't have but it's also not far away if I need to come here. They also have a bigger selection of Asian frozen veggies/ meats/ seafood. Produce always looks fresh and well stocked and poke counter has a couple different flavors then my normal spot as well. The workers are equally as friendly and have helped me out on many occasions. I think this Times location is definitely more of a benefit if you're a tourist looking for Hawaii or Asian treats to take back home from your trip.

My daughter and I wanted to get some food from here before heading home. The intersection to turn at is fairly busy but we managed to find a parking spot. It's a small parking lot in front of the business. They have your typical food but my daughter got the poke bowl. It was pretty good. My daughter couldn't finish it but gave the rest to me but it was a lot. I ended up getting some cookies by Keebler. Similar to the girl scout cookies called Samoa"s. They were on sale and delicious. I think my daughter and I finished the whole pack. Lol We also grabbed some drinks to go as well. Prices are almost similar to Safeway. The inside was neat and organized. I think this location had self checkout if I remember. It was fast and easy. A lot of people stop by here to grab food and drinks. It's really close to Kahala mall which I liked. I would definitely come back again.

This Times location is very busy. Lots of free parking. On Waialae Avenue near Kahala mall. Sign up online for weekly and weekend specials. And can check online for the daily plate lunch specials, every location has different specials. I normally go for the fresh produce, meats, poke, deli, sushi, bentos. Prices are very reasonable. There is also a self serve check out, which I like to use, since it's faster for me. Remember to bring your own bags for groceries.

Check out the price for this bento.

THIS MARKET HAS GREAT DEALS ON BENTOS !!! I go to this Times located in kahala quite often and I always pick up a couple of bentos everytime I go there. The hot food and bentos are excellent ... especially the bentos and the taste is outstanding !!! Plus the price of the bentos are amazingly cheap.

Be careful, chicken was still raw and pink. Check your food.
    Van S.

Be careful. Check your chicken before you eat. It was still raw. I ordered the chicken and steak plate. Luckily I looked at it before I ate it. Immediately threw it away. SMH

Miso salmon tastes good but very bony. Lots of bones! Be careful.

However, this one time that I went, the wonton strips were not crunchy. They were stale, all of them. I kept eating them, thinking each one might have been a one off. I think whoever was in charge of the salad bar may not have put out fresh wonton strips that day and used the ones from the previous day. Otherwise, my salad was wonderful. They have a dining area where you can sit and eat your food with high and low seating. There's no restroom. Overall, I like this location and the food variety. This Foodland location has been around for so long, the memories of my newlywed years when I lived in Kalihi with in-laws, I would frequent this Foodland often to pick up groceries for our meals. 30+ years ago. This Foodland is a mess & always busy, from waiting in customer service line , noticed a lot of customer in line for Western Union & the lines are long, it's very crowded. Understandable-The only grocery store that's convenient in this area. This recent visit, since I was near a Foodland, stopped to grab few cans of Spam with Hello Kitty can, the cashier that helped me was nice & quick with ringing my purchase. *Do the survey , every 30 days to get that 200 Maikai points, I look forward to seeing what's they got for $6. Friday only specials! Despite location, I'll continue to shop here for the memories!

The aisles are fairly wide and while it's busy, I can usually navigate this store easily. I've always enjoyed the selection of items from the bakery section--I like coming here for just a cake slice or single piece of cheesecake sometimes. One thing that does annoy me is that some of the aisles are now locked up and need a customer service associate to come unlock the display and give you your item. When I have a choice, I will wait and go to another place that doesn't lock items up like that. I would rather the store pay more for security and loss prevention than to inconvenience shoppers and make them get customer service to unlock items. That's just me. Good variety of items, helpful clerks at the front. Just wish I didn't need someone to help me unlock my items.

(Clueless workers, disgustingly dirty parking garage) I bought an SD card online, but it would take an extra day for the pickup to be ready. I went to the store to buy the SD card the same day. The clueless worker in the electronics section did not know where the SD card shown online was located. Tee in customer service spent time trying to locate the inventory in the system, she also informed me that there was another additional aisle of SD cars located in the gaming section that also had SD cards. She saved the day, thanks Tee!!!

I went to the Money Services counter, where I was told the fee to cash my check would be $8, which I was fine with. The associate tried twice to cash my check, but both attempts were denied. She told me she couldn't do the transaction and went off to lunch. I tried getting someone else to help me but he stated he was an operator not a manager. So her co-worker explained to me that it wasn't an issue with my identification. At first, I thought it might have been because the address on my passport wasn't current, so I provided another form of identification along with a piece of mail showing my name and mailing address. Unfortunately, that didn't make a difference. The associate explained that it may have been because it was my first time cashing a check of that amount at Walmart and suggested that I go directly to my bank instead. While I appreciated the associate's efforts in explaining it to me, the experience was still extremely disappointing. I had planned to use the money to buy groceries, but since I couldn't access my funds, I had to return everything I had picked out and leave empty-handed. It was a frustrating and discouraging end to an already long workday. I understand that policies and verification systems are in place for security, but I wish there had been a clearer explanation or an alternative solution to make it right with me. I was so disappointed, I just deposited the check through my own Chase mobile banking. A bank I haven't used in over a year and a half since I moved to Hawai'i. To make matters worse, the employees started discussing my situation in the corner in Tagalog as if I wasn't right there. I wish people didn't do that. Speak in another language thinking other people don't understand you. I speak Visaya, English, and Tagalog by the way. I was born in the Philippines and understand the language... It was just a very discouraging encounter. I walked out of Walmart trying not to sob because after two weeks of waiting for a paycheck, and not being able to go to the bank with my work hours, it's been incredibly difficult to have money in my pocket. I was really counting on Walmart to take care of me today. So, reluctantly, I took a picture of my check instead and deposited it through my mobile phone and now I have to wait days for it to go through. What a rough day.

And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed. Thank you, Tamashiro, for providing quality food and memories for so many years. You were more than a market--you were part of my childhood
