The place gets crowded and isn't the cheapest option for lunch but the variety and location is hard to beat when you're on the Hill for the day. The best meal you can get is the pulled pork and mac & cheese. Try it and you'll never stray! It's a steal considering what you'd pay somewhere else for it. bigger than the rayburn cafeteria. longworth caf works for me when im too lazy to go off campus or when i dont bring my lunch. my go tos are the fresh wraps and salad stations. they make it right in front of you and are more appetizing than the pre-made to-go ones. DO NOT get the desserts! the cakes ive tried have always been dry (carrot, coconut, chocolate, vanilla, etc). cupcakes tend to be less dry. the pecan and chocolate bars are whatevs. apple cobblers have raisins in them, and apple pie is eh. my sugar addiction brings me back, but i wind up disappointed each time. tip: there's "the creamery" right next to longworth which serves ice cream & starbucks coffee (but doesn't accept starbucks cards). they may also provide some desserts - cant remember, but it may be worth checking out. also, the granola in the premade yogurt parfait cups tend to be soggy. read more

I hate this place. The only thing consistent here are the fruit flies in the wraps and plastic shards of bag that makes its way into the lettuce bucket. Besides being expensive and slammed with people all the time, the stations will start cleaning up before the breakfast hours end/lunch hours end, and on many occasions run out of key ingredients. I never eat here out of desire, only out of necessity. Avoid avoid. read more

After 3 years of not eating at Longworth I went back today and absolutely loved it! The wrap stand was there, just as I remembered it... It was such a nostalgic thing... I absolutely LOVE the Longworth wraps - they have such a great variety ! I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and it was just as I remembered it! Wow... what a trip down memory lane. As a tourist, you wouldn't think to go inside one of the House of Representatives office buildings for lunch, but hey it's Capital Hill, your closest visible options are expensive, white tablecloth restaurants or hot dog stands. Once you stand in line, go through security, and locate it on the many building maps (it's not a big building) go take any staircase or elevator to the Basement floor, and follow the signs (or ask any suit or pantsuit walking through the halls) and you're there! So many great options to choose from, so many seats available, and a Dunkin Donuts is coming soon! Go before or after you've met your elected representative! There's also a gift shop nearby. There's also plenty of vegetarian options, but vegan will be a little hard to come by (salad, sorry, it's the East Coast, what are you going to do!?). If you're working on the House side of Cap Hill this is probably one of the best places to grab a quick bite to eat. The food is pretty good, relatively inexpensive, they have a lot of options, and it doesn't have the dungeon like feel of most of the other cafeterias that are confined to the basements of the House buildings. While this is also in a basement, it actually has a long window letting in light, so staffers don't feel like they're in a cave when they dine here. read more

Major upgrade after the Democrats took power on the Hill. Food is much healthier and the variety has increased a lot. Ok...it's a cafeteria but I wandered in this morning having not had breakfast and not in the mood to suffer so I gave it a shot. The breakfast buffet while not extensive is amazing! The French toast was perfect..the eggs amazing and the fried apples were so delicious...I highly recommend this to anyone, encourage even to try this amazing feast! read more

I am so impressed. I hear that the renovation changed everything. The salad bar is killer! I murder that thing every day! Such a good variety. Not to mention the hot stuff is great as well. They have s taco bar, macaroni and cheese station, pizza, healthy options, and more! They also have sushi available in the grab and go area. It's typically not too crowded so you can easily get a seat but clearly that depends on the legislative calendar. It's a cafeteria, but definately better than Rayburn. Truthfully, I don't know what all the hype about Rayburn is about. To me, it looks and feels like a school cafeteria with long lines and hard to find a place to sit down and eat when you finally do make it through the food stands. Extremely nice staff- if something's not there they're more than happy to go get it for you. Say you want a certain food but you're not sure if you'd like it or not, they'll let you try it first!! As for Longworth, you're in and out in a jiffy. There are roughly 10 cashiers and they'er all nice and friendly as well. I've had the salads, Middle Eastern Cuisine (cauliflower & rice), Mexican (salsa verde fish & almond rice & lemon asaparagus), Breakfast (either a sausage &cheese&egg biscuit or the breakfast buffet) and the chicken tenders. All good and relatively affordable. SAY NO to the soups. They're either super sweet (Tomatoe & Basil) or super salty (Clam Chowder). The desserts look yummy but I haven't had the chance to experience one yet. To all you enviormentalists out there, everything is biodegradeable including the cups, plates, forks, spoons, & knives! read more

It was early. I was starving, and didn't want to wait in security line for another thirty minutes. To my surprise, the food was decent. I treated myself to unhealthy self-serve breakfast of sausage, pork and cheese scrambled eggs, egg biscuit and creamy sauce. This cafeteria is one of the best. There is a variety to choose from, so if you evet eat here, everyone will be happy. There is sandwiches, barbeque, pizza, pasta, and more. For cafeterias, this is top quality. I got to try the BLT sandwich, which was amazing. The sandwich maker lets you customize your sandwich, and was nice. I also tried the cornbread...it was delicious If you have to eat lunch when you're near the capitol, this yummy place should be in your list of options. read more

One of the happiest moments of my life in the last year or so was when I found out that this place was closing and the food contract for the house was being given to another, hopefully more competent company. Maybe they can hire some competent employees or at the very least some that don't openly sneer at customers who have the nerve to.... I don't know, attempt to purchase food I guess? Hopefully things get better here. They can't get worse. Or more surly for that matter. read more
