I came in during lunch on a Friday and missed a huge rush *thankfully. Seating is limited and first come first serve. The food was fine. Bland, Nothing special. I think that's also people's allure. I really don't get the appeal. It's like going to someone's house and sitting at a super small table and getting cheap food that tastes pretty basic. I guess if you're looking for a homey vibe and are a regular, maybe?? But no reservations, cash only, no menus (just up on the whiteboard, hard to read), and so crowded that it's difficult to move around...not for me. I will say, however, the service is fantastic. The staff is wonderful. It's so small, in an old row home, and there's only a few folks working and they do a great job. Jimmy T's Place is an institution on the Hill that I've been meaning to try for a while. It's cash-only and very focused on basics. It's a cozy diner, with the breakfast regulars, like waffles, pancakes, omelettes, and breakfast sandwiches. The service was friendly. I had an omelette (which start at only $5.95!) and some home fries. The food was good and filling - but a note for my fellow allergy friends that options for gluten-free are very limited here. The building just feels old once you walk in. The cash register looks like it's from the 60s. The service is awesome. It is a place I want to come back to regularly and talk to the employees about my day. The food is also delicious and cooked to perfection, if relatively simple (at least most of the menu). We waited forty minutes for our food and when it arrived some of it was wrong, so then we had to wait even longer.
