Astronaut City date night! At Arcadia's Best Comedy Club. Located on Baldwin Avenue, in one of the many plaza strip malls of Arcadia, seriously they're everywhere in this city! We rolled up early a few minutes before doors opened to get some good seats near the front and support my gurl Aleesa Calaguas!! The SoCal crew came through including bae and company. Name on the list after grabbing tickets via eventbrite a month or so ago and we got to fill out slips to be entered in their giveaway raffle at the end of the night. Our host started us off with some great light humor, fellow vegan #ISeeYou and Aleesa was the first opening act and she was so on point. Had us chuckling right away. All the acts were great including the headliner, comedian, writer, actress Aparna Nancherla/ Astronaut City has a great layout, it's small but also spacious with a capacity of 49 or so. They have a great bar seat up with lots of options including cocktails, cider, beer, wine, soft drinks, water (including sparkling), celsius and a variety of small meals and snacks in their unique vending machine (including themed as well as brands Astronaut City items). Highly recommend coming early and getting a good sense of the layout as it can get a little congested with a full house and sold out show, like this. Gender neutral restrooms and free Wi-Fi for the extra win. Not to mention they have other great events and nights like karaoke and open mic each week. Open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7pm til 10pm roughly. You can book private events and special occasions with them as well. Good acoustics, playlists, lighting and sound. They do private parties! They do late night karaoke on Fridays & Saturdays! And they also do what I was there for - comedy shows! Sometimes an open mic, but this week my friend Alyssa (the OCA of the OC) opened for Aparna Nancherla as part of the SGV Comedy Fest. It was super cool. The venue has a private parking lot that isn't huge and filled up pretty fast when I was there but if you get there early, you'll get a spot. Staff was super friendly with checking us in and great about serving drinks (2 minimum for comedy shows). They have $9 0% Heineken and .5% Corona Lights for my non-drinking friends (along with a bunch of other things like $5 bottled waters), a bunch of good beer options, and soju cocktails! Again, they had many other drinks but these were the exciting ones to me. Sound quality for the comedy show was excellent, as was their fun Astronaut City backdrop. Great MC & check in person, too. Overall cute, small venue for a smaller sized show or party with a capacity of 49. It'd be a great spot for a private karaoke party for work or friends and they give a free birthday bag if it's your bday! read more

It's unusual for me to leave multiple reviews for a place within such a short amount of time, but in this case, I think it's warranted. Prior to coming to Astronaut City, I had only ever been to one other comedy show in LA. But, now, I'm trying places all over and this is one of the friendliest and most supportive venues I've been to yet--I went to an open mic show last night, and there was even a surprise visit from veteran comedian Joe Wong! I've visited this place multiple times, and the staff and promoters here have been consistently friendly. And not for nothing, it is always super clean--especially the bathrooms, which are almost an otherworldly experience themselves. haha. Great room for comedy & sipping drinks in a cool alien/space theme spot! They have several ticketed comedy shows making it a great little date night spot! Also, there's a variety of open mics weekly that you can check out on their Instagram. I like that their drink menu has soju + a lot of other alcoholic & non-alcoholic drink options. Great place to come for enjoying comedy shows and mics where you can either hang out at their bar or sit in the audience. I think they have karaoke here sometimes too! Astronaut City is SGV's newest and super fun spot for comedy and karaoke. It's the perfect location for those that don't want to go too far to do open mics, watch a comedy show, and sing karaoke. Everyone's super nice and supportive, making it easy to get on stage for giggles and songs. The ambiance and aesthetic of the place is so quirky and fun, with a space and alien theme. It's also an intimate comedy club, making the shows interactive and immersive. Its signature show, New Joke City, allows the audience to interact by writing down prompts and suggestions for the comics to riff on. There's a bar with beer, wine, soju, and non-alcoholic beverages. My favorite go to drink is the soju highball (soju and soda water). The bartenders take care of you well and are super accommodating. It's a great and social place to vibe, laugh, and let loose. I like how it feels like a dive bar in a strip mall, but it's anything but old and dingy. Everything feels like it's pretty new. It's astronaut-themed and they have a few novelty space decorations but it isn't overly done in a cheesy way. Would take a date here and hang for a drink. Bartenders are cool. Plenty of parking. And if anything, the bathrooms are super updated and clean. THANK GOD!!! Only food options are in a vending machine (with astronaut food in it! lol) but you can eat beforehand at quite a few food options in the same strip mall, then come over afterwards and laugh it off. No draft beers but a decent selection of canned and bottled drinks. And they have a bunch of free pens on the bar you can take! Will be back often!!! read more

My partner and I wanted something different to do for a date night on Friday instead of our usual dinner routine. We heard about Astronaut City opening up in Arcadia and decided to check it out. The staff at the front door were super friendly right off the bat, which is always a good sign for a nightlife spot. The layout inside is really nice. It feels upscale but relaxed at the same time. We got a table near the side and looked over the cocktail menu, which has a lot of creative options. The drinks came out quick and they were mixed right. The entertainment is what sets this place apart from other spots in the San Gabriel Valley. They had a live comedy show first. The lineup of stand-up comics they had on stage was great, everyone in the room was laughing. I didn't recognize some of the names, but everyone there was really funny. I haven't laughed like this in a while. Usually I have to go to LA to see comedy shows like this, but this was fantastic. Right after the comedy wrapped up, they transitioned into a karaoke lounge. And it was FREE which was mindblowing. The place across the street was charging like $40 for karaoke. The crowd changed a bit but the energy stayed awesome. They have a huge song selection and the microphones actually sound good. It's just a really fun atmosphere overall. Arcadia usually shuts down pretty early so having a legitimate local bar with great entertainment that stays open late is a massive win for the area. If you are looking for unique things to do on a weekend with a crowd or just a casual night out, this place hits the spot. We're already planning to bring a bigger group next time. read more

This is place is a lot of fun. Hidden gem in Arcadia. Easy to find. They got a little parking lot but plenty of residential street parking. Even if you're coming from Glendale / Burbank it's super quick to get to from 134 / 210. Fun low priced comedy shows. Supportive open mics even if you're a first timer. Staff and customers are super nice. Free Karaoke after the shows. You can just walk into karaoke, you're not required to see the show before. Cool neon light Vegas aesthetics. Ton of wacky Alien pics on the walls. The vending machine has condoms and freeze dried meals, lol. It's worth going just to look around. I recommend. Cheap date night. Lot of people come alone. Came here one night with my wife because it had been years since we had seen live stand up comedy- it was a very welcoming atmosphere- very friendly bartender- and there were maybe 8-10 comedians that got on stage, each with their own unique personalities- i haven't heard my wife laugh like that in years- we are definitely coming back . Such a fun, unique venue! The space-themed atmosphere is unlike anywhere else, and the comedy shows are consistently entertaining. They also host great karaoke nights and have a nice selection of drinks. It's an easy place to spend an evening with friends, and I'll definitely be back. read more

I met up with some friends and family at their 9/25 opening night. We all ended up having a fabulous night! Parking is free and there's also easy street parking nearby. We were greeted by a friendly host upon arrival and the owner of the bar was also very welcoming! The vibe inside is cozy and lively with hints of quirky humor scattered throughout. There's a stage at one end of the bar, and karaoke was the highlight for the evening. I like how you can partake in karaoke or just sit back, relax and be entertained.
