It is her soft, reassuring voice, knowledge, experience, expertise and professional approach that truly makes a difference. I have to say that when I contracted COVID for the first time in June of 2022, the vision in my right eye was blurry for a few weeks. I noticed this and was concerned, so I made an appointment. They say that COVID affects everyone differently, so naturally, it scared the living daylights out of me, but Dr. Patel reassured me at my eye exam that year that she didn't see any signs of an ocular issue when she reviewed my Optomap. My vision has since been restored and I continue to be seen annually for my eye exams.

Then I was upsold toward a procedure, again a machine, to check the health in the back of my eye, again with little explanation. Dr. Patel was friendly, but again it had a factory feel to it. I received little information on the nature of the change in my vision, just that new lenses might take some getting used to. I asked about the results from the machine & got little in return other than "it's the angle of your glasses." I was met by a sales person from Lenscrafters before I had even paid my co-pay. I'll give them 2 stars because I left with a prescription for new glasses, but they get little for care or service beyond the barest minimum.

Dr Chan was great--he had a very kind, gentle demeanor and gave clear instructions the whole time. Everything happens so fast during an eye exam, so having clear direction and well-phrased questions is a big help. He really stood out in this regard. By the end of the exam, I was very satisfied with the clarify of the lenses I was being shown. I have struggled with getting new glasses in the past--there were two times in the last three years where the glasses I ordered were blurry on one side and I couldn't figure out the cause. This was very demoralizing, especially when my vision is noticeably getting worse, and in the end I didn't get new glasses with my last prescription because it was proving to be such a hassle. I was able to tell Dr Chan about this and I feel like he took the issue seriously. Navigating any kind of health care can feel daunting when you don't have the knowledge to understand or communicate what is happening to you, and just having a health care provider who is affirming of what you're experiencing can make such a difference. He feels like someone who would actually work with me to address any issues I might raise. Additionally, the woman at the front desk was helpful and friendly. There was no wait when I went. Overall, a very positive experience. I will be returning here the next time I need an eye exam!

My whole house got sick, we all started feeling it Sunday (New Years) morning and it progressively got worst. In fact I lost my voice, it hurt to much to swallow and even lift my head. Sure enough the house got COVID. I had an appointment on Tuesday and Monday (the day before) they were closed. I called in Monday not knowing they were closed and didn't leave a message because frankly I was so sick, I was just trying to be courteous hoping to get a live person, when I heard the answering machine I just hung up. Tuesday comes around and I got up to make sure I call right at 9:01am and tell them how sick we were and we'd like to reschedule our 2PM appointment. It was very clear I was sick bc I don't have my voice. The lady said she would ask how to handle that and when she got back on the phone said, sorry the policy is that you have to show up or we will charge you a late cancellation fee. I then said, so you guys want us to come and both my son and I both have COVID? She said "well you can bring a doctor's note"... huh? I barely have energy to leave the house for 1 appointment you're asking me to go to the doctors now? Lol comedy. Nope, we'll be there at 2PM. I find it absolutely unsympathetic and ridiculous that in a scenario such as this there is no empathy or consideration. I've been going here for the past 4yrs or so and have had NO track record of cancellations, but they treat me as if I am a frequent cancellation customer... in fact we moved to Carrollton which isn't close and we decided to still keep our business here. To top it off, we get here at 1:49 our appointment is at 2:00 and they didn't see us until 2:30 . What exactly is the point of an appointment when you can't follow it? This will be our last visit.

Before scheduling the appointments, I asked the front desk three separate times to confirm that both of my children's eye exams would be covered by insurance. They repeatedly confirmed they were covered. Even when we checked in, no one mentioned any issue. After the exams, however, they told me at checkout that one child was still within the one-year period and that I had to pay the medical exam fee. If there was a problem with the insurance eligibility, they should have informed me before the appointment or before the doctor saw my child--not after everything was finished. To make matters worse, the second exam felt incomplete. The doctor only looked at the photos that had been taken, said there was no vision change, and did not perform a manual vision check. When I explained that their staff had confirmed coverage multiple times, no one apologized. The doctor came out looking upset but offered no explanation or acknowledgment of the staff's mistake. There was also confusion about my vision insurance. The front desk insisted that my insurance would not cover frames. Since I have a PPO vision plan, I went home and called my insurance company myself. They confirmed the office is in-network and that my plan includes up to a $150 frame allowance. When I called the office back, they admitted they had checked incorrectly and said my frames actually were covered. The lack of communication, inaccurate insurance information, and poor customer service made this a very frustrating experience. There are plenty of other eye care providers nearby that are more organized and respectful of their patients' time. I won't be returning.
