I've had dogs my whole life and my family and I have always groomed them ourselves. Out of 6 dogs, my current dog (cockapoo) is the first that doesn't tolerate me grooming her. She's very reactive, anxious and nippy. After 3 years of struggling, snarling and nipping, I finally gave up and searched for a groomer for help. I crossed my fingers and gave this place a shot. I warned them in advance of her issues and temperament and they luckily accepted her for an appointment. I was surprised to hear from them that they were able to groom and bathe her! Took our 11-month pup Penny for a bath and nail trim. When I came to pick her up, she looked scared in the crate as a vacuum cleaner was running loudly a couple feet away from her. The owner appeared a couple minutes later. She let Penny out of the crate and I realized she left her collar, harness, and leash on. Any sensible dog owner knows this is dangerous practice. The owner said she didn't trim Penny's nails because there was "nothing to trim." She still charged me for the trim and said to come in when they get longer and she'd do them for free. So that's like the dumbest business practice ever, right? Anyways, a worker calls me the next day and says Penny's dog tag fell off in their crate. They handed me the warped and mangled tag pictured. So it seems like they left her collar on in the crate and ran a loud-ass vacuum cleaner right next to her. She probably panicked and frantically tried to escape, hooking her collar onto the crate in the process. Then she likely squirmed and thrashed to unhook herself, all while little miss fat fuck went about her clean-up. Glad we didn't find any serious injuries. But not taking that chance again. read more

Quite a few people recommended me this groomer, so I called them to make an appointment for my Bernedoodle (35 lb, 5 months). Then the gentleman who answered the phone told me : "Sorry, we don't work on that dog breed." As a private business, they have the right to pick the color and race that they like to serve. It is their legal right. However, everybody knows Bernedoodle is one of the most friendly breeds. Maybe I have a wrong accent. It is interesting that just I saw quite a few recommendation from poodle owners that this business really like their dogs. And now they told me that they don't work with Bernedoodle. Well, they are totally legal that they can choose whatever race and background of their clients. Just a little uncomfortable as a minority about their inconsistent treatment to poodle vs. doodle. So, just warn you guys, they either don't like doodles, or they don't like minority clients. read more

We're new to this area and needed to have nails clipped on our chihuahua mix. First we tried the grooming sections at two national-chain pet stores. Neither was able to take a walk-in without an appointment and neither had any appointments available until at least the next day. The atmosphere at Petsmart was not just busy but felt somewhat frantic, and the young man doing intake was abrupt and rude. We left and went directly to Petco, but they too were overbooked but offered an appointment the next day. We decided to look for an independent groomer instead, as our dog's nails had not been trimmed in a while and we needed to get this done on a rare day off if possible. A quick search turned up several non-chain grooming options within a couple of miles. It happened that Looking Good is in a cluster of businesses very near our home, so we went there. It's a small, clean shop that felt welcoming and calm immediately on entering. The gentleman guessed right away that we might be there for nails, as he said they get a lot of walk-ins this time of day and time of year for that service. He asked our dog's name and right away began talking to her gently, slowly moving to pet her so as not to startle. His manner was calming and caring, the total opposite of the vibe at the other two places. Our dog was quite anxious and struggled somewhat, being in a new place and getting a fairly significant trim, but they were very gentle with her and repeatedly reassured her that it was ok, she was being a good girl, and so on. When she was finished, the gentleman carried her to us and promptly got a few pumpkin doggie treats from the treat barrels they have nicely arranged in the store. He fed pieces to her and continued talking softly as she fully calmed down and was soon her usual self - and now with freshly well-clipped nails! We were very satisfied not just with the nail clipping itself, which took only a few minutes, but just as importantly as the demeanor of the groomer handling the dog. You can just tell when someone is a true animal lover and enjoys their work. These people have been at it for 40 years, according to their signage, and it is clear from how they act that they genuinely enjoy dogs and know what they are doing. We also purchased some honey and peanut butter treats before leaving. They were *very* well priced compared with a lot of places, as are their services (the nail trim we got was only $5). My Roxy is a super anxious pup, but I never worry when I drop her off for grooming. This past visit, Roxy was extremely matted.
