The lookout rooftop is atop the Envoy hotel in seaport. It's a cool spot that looks like it has a great view. Since we were staying at the Envoy we decided to go up to the roof to take a look. That lasted about 2 min. It's definitely a younger set, the music was so loud that I could hear myself think. Don't get me wrong, I love loud music, but metal rather than the god awful stuff that was playing lol. Additionally it's not really possible to get a view as you need to reserve a 'VIP' table/couch/box to get to the edge of the building. These run on a sliding scale and start at a $50 drink minimum for 2 hours and go up to $2000 depending on the time of day. There's a $25 - $50 non refundable reservation fee as well that does not count towards the minimum. Food does not count towards the minimum either. 2 drinks here will run you ~$50 with tip. Although this place does offer some decent views of the Boston skyline, the service here is lacking to a certain extent. First off, when we exited the elevator and went to the area to wait for checking in on our reservation, no one was around to assist - absolutely no one. We ultimately figured out to make our way to a part of the rooftop where we were seated for reservations. Depending on the size of the party, the minimum spending amount will proportionately increase. Since there was only two of us, the minimum was 50$ so it is quite pricey. Additionally, since we went on a day that had a chance of rain, amending the reservation was not as convenient on their website and through phone calls as we would've expected based on such an establishment with specific exclusivity. read more

I've gone to lookout twice and had a great experience both times. The first time I went for sit down dinner and drinks with a reservation. I loved the view and the the cocktails were gorgeous and delicious. The second time I went with a larger group late on a Friday and we waited in line to drink in the standing area. Lookout has a great view despite only being on the 7th floor....but that's all they have going for them. I came here on a Saturday around 6 and it was pretty full and tables are spaced out. They have igloos outside that can fit 6, and tables without the igloos. Our food came out in brown take out containers and the drinks were in plastic cups. They have very basic appetizers, and it tasted just okay. Honestly...it's way overpriced for me to be eating out of basically a cardboard box. Let's talk about service. We had to call someone over every time we wanted something because no one checked in. One time we were raising our hands for service, and one of them looked at us and kept walking. Lookout is the go to spot for the best view of the Boston skyline! The rooftop is absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend going right before sunset so you can catch golden hour and see the view both during the daylight as well as with the city lights on. Favorite drink is the Strawberry Fields and the Chorizo Flatbread great for dinner! Be sure to make a reservation - they're usually very busy, especially on the weekends, and reservations fill up fast so be sure to book well in advance (~2 weeks prior). They do tend to check IDs before entry on the weekends. It's a really fun atmosphere so definitely check it out if you haven't already! read more

Cute rooftop bar! I went during the winter time to experience the glowing heated igloos which I thought were pretty neat. It's first come first serve for an igloo but thankfully we didn't have to wait too long only about 10 minutes or so. Although the igloos don't close all the way, it still was fairly warm inside as long as we sat close to the heater. Most speciality drinks were priced around $15. There were plenty wine and beer options as well. Their menu changes based on the season so this is a review for their winter seasonal drinks. I order a drink I think called "feeling frisky" which is similar to a hottie tottie (recommended by the waitress) that honestly wasn't something I would've preferred. A blend of whisky, honey, and rosemary I think. It was a warm cocktail which honestly I probable would've enjoyed more if it was chilled. My two friends however ordered the "Ought to try" drink which was delicious! (They let me try it) it's basically like spiked hot chocolate which you can imagine is very soothing during the cooler months. The view is also extremely beautiful. Horrible and scary experience. We were drugged and believed it was the staff. We had table service. Waitress was horrible, rude and barely attentive. She brought us 2 rounds of drinks in 1.5 hours then rushed us out for another reservation. tried to charge us for 36 SHOTS for a group of 5 girls in 1.5 hours. It was a lie to rob us and would have been totally reckless service if they ever did serve us that. Tab was almost $1,000 and our friend was incapacitated tested positive for benzos. They tried to rush us out to force us to pay the 1k bill. We each only had 2 drinks which were served by the waitress only. We called to report the incident and they hung up on us. A okay if you don't expect an edible dinner or a good cocktail. Location and view is great. Getting there before sunset was hot as they do not have any umbrellas. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. Mediocre food served in a take-out box is not my thing. The fish sandwich would make a food truck go out of business. Drinks served in plastic cups works for beer, but nothing else. Mojito was pretty bad, watery with rotten mint. No bottled sparkling water. Noise (which they may call music) was deafening and made conversations pretty much impossible. -- So it is a perfectly fine place to have a beer with a friend and a nice view. Just make sure that you bring a noise cancellation headsets and communicate by text messaging only. And beware of the parking recommendation on the Envoy website! Amazing views, horrible staff. The employees made everyone in my group feel unwelcome. Then later another group of friends visited separately and got the same read. Every request seemed like a chore for them. The bar tender would make passive aggressive comments. The waitress would roll their eyes. What led me here was the igloos that are available with heaters inside for those winter months. A little tricky to find but all you need to do is head into the lobby of the hotel and go right into the elevators to the top floor (which is only the 2nd or 3rd). What's the harm in helping your customers get a group photo with the skyline at the end of the night before sending them off with well-wishes and a bid to come visit again, rather than treating them like trash and tripping over a superiority complex that you get to shut the place down, herd everyone out like animals, and tell everyone no? Do you realize that these CUSTOMERS are the ones paying for the whole show? As a Bonvoy Elite member, I've been to a LOT of fancy, beautiful rooftop bars around the world, including many others at Marriott/Autograph properties. I have never encountered this utter and complete lack of customer service from management and security like what we experienced at the Lookout Rooftop at Envoy. Other than the hardware and location, there's not much else worth writing home about. Save yourself the time to wait in sweaty lines, your wad of $$$, the frustration of dealing with overworked and poorly trained staff, and avoid this place like the plague. P.S. As we were herded into an overfilling elevatory lobby with to leave while the security guy yelled at everyone to get off the rooftop (who btw yelled TAKE THE STAIRS when we said the elevator was full and we were getting pushed into the cramped, sweaty waiting area,) there were a few patrons that were inebriated and not feeling well. They were quietly sitting on the bench as one of the friends tried to feel better. Instead of caring for them and helping them get home, the manager and security staff here CALLED THE POLICE. What kind of intimidation tactic is this? Give them 20 mins to chill out next to the elevator and they'll make it home. This was completely jaw-dropping and unprofessional treatment of guests. Classy place that usually has a line wrapped around the block. Make sure to come early or have a table reservation because otherwise you are going to wait. Tipping the bouncer a couple bucks may help though. The views are beautiful and the key is to snag a spot by the balcony. They have standing tables that you can lounge at and enjoy the view. They have a back area that is off limits and I am not sure if it was a private party or what but we couldnt go back there. The front area has a bar and some open space to hang. It doesnt get too crowded and they do a good job of crowd control there. The crowd is younger but not amateurish. What is interesting is that they don't allow you to order shots. This probably helps corral the rowdyness. It does take a minute to get a drink because it is pretty packed but the bartenders really work hard so I can't deduct any points there. Loved this! We went for our friends 21st birthday to grab a drink and a view. The guy at the door was very nice, joked around with us, and we actually ended up seeing him upstairs! He took a few photos for us, super kind. I think his name was Andre? Not totally sure, but he definitely deserves some praise for being cool and calm headed when it was so hot and so many people. The bar staff was also extremely friendly! They ran out of the slushy with alcohol and the guy offered to grab one from the back. Most bars would just say they were out because they didn't want to put in the extra effort. To the best part, the view! I do recommend getting there early. We arrived around 8 and it was PACKED. You could not get a table or seat, but if people are nice they will let you get to the edge, take a few photos and take in the view. I loved the atmosphere. You had all different kinds of people! I would recommend dressing up more than dressing down as most were a little more dressy casual than just casual. Overall I throughout enjoyed my time! Easily the best view in Boston! My go-to spot for bringing a guest/visitor around the city. Usually has fun music with a young trendy crowd. Drinks are really good, just a tad overpriced (expected at a place like this). They now have plenty of seating on the right hand side (couches) and hightop tables for standing room in front of the bar/right in front of the view. On the left half they have tables/seating for reservation, but it is closed almost every time I'm there, and when its open, nobody even has those tables reserved! So it often feels like a waste of space to me, since everyone's packed into the other half. That's my only issue with this place. Check your Credit card bill! My credit card bill was padded. Went to the bar and ordered a drink for my friend and a Pepsi for myself. Bill came to $8.56 and I left a $5 cash tip. I checked my CC balance and they changed it to $10. I still have the receipt and called my CC company. I emailed the bar and they told me to come back or send my CC info and they would refund my $10. I would not give them my CC number again and I will not return. The $10 is not my concern , it is the padding of my CC. This is utterly fraudulent behavior. They start with a small amount and if you don't catch it, you will get a bigger fraudulent charge. Buyer beware! read more

As many of the reviews have mentioned previously the views are breathtaking and probably the best part of Lookout Rooftop bar. Everything else was just mediocre which I typically give 3 stars but the reason for 2 is because of the prices. For the higher prices I just expected so much more. We were seated rather quickly but neither the host or the waitresses were super nice or anything. They were definitely covering a lot of tables so it's not their fault. It took a while to get our checks at the end because they had to cover so many tables. For our reservation we sat on two large couches with 2 tiny tables for food and drinks. It was super sunny but also super windy so everything was flying everywhere including the cups, napkins, utensils, it was really hard to eat or drink. At one point our chips and guac got knocked over as well. So definitely check the weather before you go. We got the flatbread, the breakfast sandwich and the guac and chips. Everything was just okay, portions were not big and definitely a bit pricey for what it was. Drinks were exactly the same - nothing special, not a big drink and expensive ($17). This three is 5/5 stars for the view and 2/5 stars for the food/service/etc. Come here for the view! It's amazing and it's the perfect place to watch the sunset and take in the city of Boston. As for the rest of the experience, I would set your expectations low. The drinks are overpriced as you'd expect for the location, but the food aspect is bizarre. The menus are very short and have a weird and random mix of items that aren't really appetizers, but also aren't meals. It's peculiar and I highly recommended reading it thoroughly in advance so you can eat before you go. The portions are tiny and all the food comes in paper containers with packaged plastic silverware which is frustrating because there is often a breeze and your food can get blown off the table. Despite the portions, the food itself is solid for the most part. My favorite items there are the breakfast sandwich and the arancini balls. The service is mediocre.
