Every time we're in Bel Air to visit family, we have to eat at Looney's at least once. For me, it's all about the wings-the Honey Old Bay wings! We've never had a meal that was disappointing, but the wings are the star to me. While you're there, enjoy Maryland's official alcoholic beverage, (it's true, look it up!) the Orange Crush! Stopped here for lunch on our way back to south central PA and could not have been happier with our decision! This place had great food: all the crab cake things you could possibly want and then some and great fries. There's a large patio that has live music, a large indoor seating area with a stage, a huge bar in the middle with endless tvs, and these great screened windows that let you get fresh air while also being inside. We were seated promptly, and service was great. This would be a great spot to watch a game or to grab a meal on your way to the Baltimore stadiums. read more

I have been wanting to stop in and try so we stopped here for brunch. From the outside driving on the road you would not expect this place to be that big inside. They have an outdoor seating, a dining area and a bar area. They have loads of TVs and some games around the bar. I know this location gets wild during the evenings. We got seated right away, they had their regular menu, drink menu, a brunch menu and it looked like a game day menu. They had lots to choose from, a lot of stuff I noticed involved crab stuff. As you would imagine they have a full bar. I ordered a cran orange crush. It was good just was not as cold as I'd like it to be. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. It was not very busy as we came for brunch around 12. I ordered the OG Benedict that comes with hash browns and some peppers and onions. Usually when I get the hash browns they have the peppers and onions chopped up small. Here, they were in bigger pieces, which was fine just different. The hollandaise sauce was a little sweeter than I am use to but otherwise it was good. My boyfriend has a pulled pork sandwich with fries. He said it was good, and the fries were good as well. We came in for a drink and to enjoy the live band. After finishing our drinks, we moved closer to the stage, sat at a table, and settled in to listen to the music. Staff checked on us several times asking if we wanted more drinks, which we politely declined. The stage lights were incredibly bright and repeatedly flashed directly into the audience. To deal with the glare, we occasionally put on our sunglasses. Not even three songs into the set, a bouncer came charging over and informed us that sunglasses were not allowed. No explanation. No polite request. Just an unnecessary display of authority. At no point were we drunk, under the influence, disruptive, or causing any sort of problem. We were literally sitting at a table listening to the band. The irony is that the venue seemed far more concerned about a customer wearing sunglasses for a few seconds than ensuring people were actually enjoying themselves. Apparently, in this pub, wearing sunglasses to shield your eyes from blinding stage lights is a bigger issue than treating paying customers with basic courtesy and respect. read more

Came in last night for the first time in a while for a special occasion. My fiancé ordered the Filet mignon 6oz and it wasn't even cooked or served with its original sides. I'm upset because for 28$ a 6oz Steak should be cooked and served how it's ordered she ordered medium rare and it came medium well... and instead of the potatoes they gave her plain white rice, and asparagus that didn't even look like it had been touched by seasoning or butter. I'm upset because the last time we came in 2 months ago we didn't have this issue ordering this same dish it's one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, so I was hoping it would be done right. Pretty standard quality for a sports pub. Dark interior, a bunch of TVs with different sports on, and a large, but expected menu. Service was pretty slow for the pub being quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Tap water tasted a little dirty, prices were high but large food portions. Professional, knowledgeable of the menu, and attentive. Much better experience dining at this location as opposed to College Park location. Restaurant was fairly crowded, but we were sat immediately by the hostess and attended to quickly by our waitress. We were watching college basketball on one of the many screens throughout the restaurant. The noise level at the restaurant was good, I could easily talk to my son with no issues. Interior and exterior of restaurant was clean. My son ordered the "Build your own" burger which was a big portion and he loved it. I ordered the Old Bay wings which are expensive due to the inflation of food prices after the pandemic and that's not the restaurants fault. Wings were crispy and not overly seasoned which was nice. With a perfect score of 25 out of 25 stars, I give Looney's Pub Bel Air an A+ rating. We plan on visiting again soon. read more

This must be a primary food destination in Bel Air! Sports bar ambiance with the noise to boot. A buddy and I stopped by en route to a concert at a local music store. Parking was a challenge but we eventually landed a space. More surprising is the house was nearly packed at 1700 hours, yet we were immediately seated in the dining room and were instantly acknowledged by our waitress. Blame the busyness it on the NFL playoffs? Nope. This is typical of the house. Menu had Restaurant Week options, a Game Day option and the house menu which typical pub grub with some " elevated" options. We both ordered chili. For the main event, I ordered Looney's fish and chips and my friend ordered a "side salad". Chili was good and was plated with a huge portion of tortilla chips which could have easily been halved as both of us left about half the chips on our plates. A bit of wasteful, I think. My buddy's side salad wasn't as expected. It was a BIG SALAD and not the little plate of greens and stuff usually attributed to side salads. He couldn't finish it. My fish and chips were great and appeared to be house made and not a Sysco frozen item. I think they were beer battered and contained rockfish. The platter had a great number of fries. No problem here, but, there was an over abundance of tartar sauce. I enjoyed my Yuengling on tap yet my friend's Cabernet was pretty nasty. Overall a good but not great experience. Went there last night and was very disappointed with the food. The place is supposed to be Irish but they don't know how to make a real fish and chips. I have been to Great Britain to know how it is prepared. It was also very overcooked. Even my girlfriend's food was a bit burnt. We also ordered French onion soup. That was very peppery. The drummer of the band playing that night stopped by our table more than our waitress. I had to go to the bar to get napkins and more drinks. When we complained to management and ask for a new server, the manager said she'd take care of it. 20 minutes later, the manager came back and said the server was just busy with a big table. We saw this waitress hanging out with her friends right next to us! Service was terrible (got our order wrong as well as spent more time with her friends at the next table). we avoided Loonies with a passion because we "assumed" it was just another bar/food combination. We were dead wrong and now we are very frequent visitors.....we go there for two reasons......interesting/ever changing menu and the service is exceptional....that's right, exceptional service. Its always hot in there which i know is uncontrollable when you let the entire harford county into the building at once. Bartenders are good. Drinks are fairly priced for being a popular bar. Smells terrible in there though, like puke and sweat. Also this is extremely gross but i did see a roach crawl up the wall one night. I went to meet a date for drinks at Looneys on Sunday night. As a 23 year old from Bel Air now down in SC for school, I understand and am fully ready for my SC driver's license to raise some eyebrows back at home. But how the bouncer who was working Sunday 12/23 handled the situation at Looneys Bel Air was nothing short of atrocious. As I walked in, I handed him my SC drivers license, explained it was SC because of college, handed him my school photo ID (University of South Carolina should make it pretty obvious which state I go to school in! *same as license*), as well as TWO credit cards to corroborate my identity. He proceeded to bend my license until it snapped. It is now permanently creased, needs to be replaced, and will cost me $25 to get. I then got a little irritated when he went to put my driver's license in his pocket, as if I wasn't getting it back, and offered to called the police on me. I repeated told him I would still need that to drive home, or drive back down to school, or go to another bar, or literally anything since it is my government-issued ID. I guess at this point he understood I wasn't completely kidding, so he took my license out of his hooded sweatshirt pocket. He then started picking at the corners of my ID to try to ruin it another way. Mind you all, by this point I had also pulled out my health insurance card, my car insurance card, and even my professional medical license. SEVEN different cards were on the counter with my name, picture and/or birthday, but still he was not convinced. I had to pull up my Facebook, and him peruse my entire profile to check where I lived, my photo, what school I went to, and my birthday. Only then did he finally stamp my hand and let me in. WITHOUT EVER APOLOGIZING FOR DESTROYING MY LICENSE. The only reason I will ever go back is because the bartender I told when I sat down listened to me, and got the manager on duty. They both handled it so professional and I am thankful for that, but it does not make how their bouncer acted any more acceptable. Y'all might want to invest in an ID scanning app or something similar, instead of destroying every person under 30's ID because they don't have grey hair yet. Note: Looneys can have good food and can be a great, fun environment for Ravens/Os/Terps/Caps games. Still go there to eat! But if you're reading this and under 40 looking for a bar to go to after 8 on any given night, I'd recommend one of the other Bel Air bars around the corner where security personnel will treat you with dignity. read more

I've been going to Looney's for as long as they've been open, but today I was REALLY disappointed. I asked our server if they could turn a TV that was showing a documentary (That was on 4 other screens) to the Man I soccer game. I was told that "The Manager has to keep the screens on a schedule, so he can't do that". When the Manager came over, (and I recognize him from when he was a busboy there) He said the same thing. That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard. I didn't ask anybody to cure cancer....I didn't ask for it to be tuned on EVERY TV, just the 24 inch one in the corner that nobody was watching. Our server was great, food came out hot and quick, and the atmosphere is what you'd expect from an Irish pub. The food itself is hit or miss.
