Came here on a rainy night when other bars seemed to be closed! I wanted to try their margaritas but unfortunately they had ran out of all except for the strawberry margarita; so we tried that and it was nice! Loved the cozy environment, they also have a backyard where they have live music bands performing sometimes! They also got some arcade games in the back. All in all a solid place! The only reason that I'm giving a 4 star is that I noticed that the drink was heavily watered down and when I asked for adding less ice on my second drink the bartender said they have to add ice to a certain level!!! I always try to visit when I am in town. The atmosphere here is amazing with a bookstore coffee shop type feel with couches and tables. The brew selection is great as I favor IPAs. The staff is friendly and attentive. I played bingo on my last visit while drinking brew. I also play classic retro arcade games on their free play machine which is one of my favorite things to do here. The pinball machines are great as well. I highly recommend that this as a must-see tap house and arcade whenever you visit Tuscaloosa! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped at Loosa Brews to see what they had to offer. We were greeted by staff and shown around the store a bit. I discovered that they were not a brewery but a store to purchase all different kinds of beer and wine. They don't offer flights, but unlimited tasting and then you pick which beer you will have on draft. We both tasted a few of their local brewer's Alabama beers. They had an out-of-state beer menu as well as an in-state beer menu. The lady helping us was very nice and friendly. Also, they even had some fun beer flavors (i.e. bomb pop, etc...) to try. We ended up taking home a crowler of their bomb pop flavored beer as we both really liked it. It seems like an average, but still very nice bar at the front but the back features not only an outdoor patio but a room full of custom made arcade machines, a Wii, and great atmosphere! This place is a fun vibe but they need to change their hours. If your hours say you close at 12am then you shouldn't turn ALL the lights on and yell "last call" at 11pm. We basically got "shoo'd" out at 11. They turned all the lights on and yelled last call at 11. They also played the song "closing time" at 11:10 on the dot. They then played "get out of here" at 11:30 (as I'm typing this). The bar staff is so unpleasant and not nice. The guy with the brown long hair is MEAN and not customer friendly. Very cool place. There are lots of in state and out of state beers to choose from and the staff gives good recommendations. I usually go on Wednesday nights for bingo which is really enjoyable. Easily my favorite bar in Tuscaloosa! As an introvert, I've always struggled finding a bar that I can truly enjoy in town, but Loosa Brews has the perfect combination of opportunities to interact with other bar-goers and cozy areas to chat with close friends. I particularly enjoyed the comfy couches and spacious arm chairs, but I also noticed tables for larger parties. Another aspect that makes this place particularly appealing is the great choice in music; while I was here they played a variety of indie to alternative bands such as The XX, the Killers, Weezer, and many others. If you're not feeling the inside scene, this bar also provides some awesome outside seating areas including a spacious, newly constructed back deck. I can definitely see myself coming here when the weather starts to warm up for a relaxing evening on the deck with brews and buddies. I must admit this place is a breath of fresh air in T-Town. I recently got an opportunity to visit Loosa Brews a few times with a couple of my friends. It has plenty of local/regional brews (Trim Tab, Avondale, Good People, Black Warrior, Red Brick, etc.) on tap, a great selection of domestic and imported beer and wine, and a bar. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. In addition to lots of brews, there are many fun arcade games (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Pac Man, etc) that line the middle corridor near the restrooms and they're also free to play! On top of all of the awesome things mentioned, this spot has a back room with old school video consoles set up (Mario Kart anyone?), brewing supplies for a budding brew master, and a front lounge area with sofas and two guitars for whoever dares to play in a crowded room full of strangers. Overall, Loosa Brews is a welcomed addition to the Tuscaloosa area and has a lot to offer to wine and beer lovers in the mood for an entertaining time. This bar is really a hidden gem! They have a great selection of local and typical beers. The setup reminds me of Hop City in Birmingham but much more cozy and warm. You can bring your own food to eat too if you'd like. The wooden furniture and walls add charm to this bar. The shelves in the middle that hold beer and wine make you give the illusion that you're in an intimate, old-school library. The bar area has some snacks and desserts in case if you get the early munchies. The backroom has some old arcade games that you can play for free such as pinball, Mr. Pac Man, and Mortal Kombat. There was a N64 game that was unplugged but we didn't feel like playing it. There also seems to be a storage room you can explore that has ingredients to the beers. For a beer lounge, this is as good as you'll find in Tuscaloosa. The staff is friendly and the bartenders know everything you would want to know about the brew they are pouring. I went on a Tuesday, when you get $2 off beer flights. They let me try a few before making my final selections (three 6 oz flights for $6), which left me feeling like a got a lot out of the special. My one critique is they feature a lot of beers you can find at the local Tuscaloosa breweries. I expect this from a normal bar, but I would personally prefer a beer lounge to focus more on what I can't visit locally. All that said, I would definitely recommend a visit. read more

I am so happy that Loosa Brews opened. It's a little hard to find, but is right across the street from Inisfree. Their beer selections is fantastic....certainly the best in the area with no competition. Approximately half of the beers are local-ish, and the other half are from all over the world. The bartenders are very knowledgable and can provide you with a sample before you decide which beer to order. You can also order a flight. The selections rotate periodically, and there is often one of the staff's homebrews on tap as well. Once you've got your beer, you'll enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Loosa Brews is decorated with old rugs, antique furniture, and vintage beer signs. There's a neat table made of an antique chalkboard. There's low lighting and plenty to look at. First, you might browse through the selections of unique craft beer from around the world, which are available to purchase and bring home with you. There are also wines and ciders. Next, you might walk to the back room and learn a little bit about home brewing from their selection of home brew supplies. The managers at Loosa Brews have told me that they are able to order just about any beer or home brew ingredient that I might request, even if it is not currently shelved in the store.
