Chorizo Burrito! I wish I had taken a picture when I first ordered it!

SO. GOOD. There are so many options in Tuscaloosa and but I really wanted Mexican and it looked good and also kind of empty so we went because we were starving. Don't let the looks decieve you, there were a lot of people in there and it was such a cute place, we got a table by the window and we got to overlook the town! The pictures on the menu do such a disservice because the food looks and tastes amazing. I am obsessed with chorizo burritos and I was thrilled to see that you could order a chorizo burritos because not a lot of Mexican places seem to have it and it's not always that good. The chorizo was so amazing and the whole burrito was so filling. I was so excited and I ate every bite! Our waitress was so kind and helpful, telling us about the town and the school. The salsa and burrito sauce were homemade and delicious! The restaurant was so calm and the perfect place to go after visiting campus to settle down and debrief. I highly reccomend, please go here and show this adorable, amazing place some love.

Another game weekend in Tuscaloosa. We stay at Embassy Suites in downtown Tuscaloosa which is in the middle of the increasingly amazing dining scene here. We had reservations again at Side by Side for dinner Friday but had nothing set up for dinner Saturday after the 11AM game. We got the inlaws situated with sandwiches (they didn't want to get out) and we set our sights on Loco Lupe's which we can see down the hill towards the river from our hotel. I have been social media stalking Loco Lupe's and found that they claimed to serve craft margaritas made from fresh squeezed limes, not from a mix. Sounded right up our alley so we walked down the hill to check them out. It's not super easy to get to by car right now. The entire street in front of it is ripped up and is nothing but dirt. Walking up to it was a bit tricky but manageable. Inside the front door we were greeted by staff and they found us a table right away. Service was pretty good and prompt. At one point the owner or manager (not sure which) sat at a table beside us and chatted us up. He was nice and quite informative. He was able to answer everything we asked him. The drinks and the food were very good. Helen got cheesy rice and proceeded to have all the veggies she could order on top of it. I got a Shrimp chimichanga and it was delicious! Helen loved hers as well. The chips, queso and salsa were all on point too! This is a solid Mexican restaurant in downtown Tuscaloosa and we had a great time! The drinks and food were done well and with care. I will go back in the future for sure!

Definitely would recommend people to come and try this restaurant. It was a 10 out of 10. Great atmosphere, great service, and great tacos.

Good solid Mexican food with good margaritas. Although margaritas were a little pricey. Service was also good.

Staff rude over phone and in person. The food is okay. Could be better. The ambiance is nice on the river and being able to sit outdoors

Not bad, the food wasn't my favorite. The steak tasted like hamburger/ ground beef. The chips and salsa were good. The queso lacked flavor.

It's been a few years since my last visit, but back when I worked closer to downtown, this place was a weekly (sometimes twice-a-week) lunch ritual. Man, this spot is awesome for lunch! Now, if you try to come on a weekend--good luck. The place is packed to the gills, and the folks lined up outside aren't there for the turnip greens, if you catch my draft, I mean drift. They're here for the other "festivities"... the bar. But let's talk food. Whether you're circling your favorite meat and three combo or grabbing something off their regular menu, you can't go wrong. Their meat and three is like stepping straight into Granny's kitchen on a cool October Sunday afternoon. I went with the country fried steak, Caesar salad, fried okra, turnip greens, and--because I'm not a quitter--a helping of blackberry cobbler. Every bite was fantastic. My wife went with the fried catfish, paired with black-eyed peas, fried okra, and of course, the same irresistible blackberry cobbler to top it off. Her meal was every bit as delicious as mine (not that I didn't try to sneak a bite or two for quality assurance purposes). The background music today was a dose of pop, with Ingrid Michaelson's The Way I Am setting a nice, mellow vibe--pretty fitting for a lunch date with my wife. Soft and pleasant... though, if I'm being honest, I'd trade Ingrid for a little Metallica or any one of those glorious 80s hair bands in a heartbeat. Nothing says "meat and three" like a little Pour Some Sugar on Me, right? These days, a meal I used to enjoy weekly has become a rare treat, but today's visit reminded me why I loved it so much. The outdoor seating is perfect for a crisp fall or breezy spring day, TVs are plastered all around so you won't miss your favorite team (Roll Tide, of course), and there's even a pool table if you're feeling like hustling a game or two. The lunch staff is fast and friendly, and if you haven't experienced this Tuscaloosa gem, do yourself a favor and step inside for their lunch menu. Just maybe leave the late-night crowd to the younger folks--they've got more energy (and stronger eardrums) for that scene than I do!

Glad we did, I ordered the fish and chips, they were hot and good. The chips were waffle fries and really good too. They had one huge plus going for them, angry orchard on tap!!!!!! We came here for drinks (and a bull ride) after eating dinner and that is when we stumbled across their nitrogen-infused drink menu! I got one with fireball, I think it was called a cinnamon apple pie drink or something like that, and honestly it wasn't very good, but they infused a lot of nitrogen, so it sizzled all over the place, which made it very fun to drink. Several people asked me what drink I had ordered because they wanted the same thing. Then we tried the fruitier ones and they tasted better, the Harley was my personal favorite because it was so peachy and flavorful. As the night went on and the bar got busier, they stopped infusing the drinks with nitrogen, which was disappointing because they're advertised as being full of nitrogen. I loved the vibe of this place, it's a country dive bar within walking distance from several other locations, making it easy to pop in here unexpectedly. There were a couple live bands the night we came: the first couple weren't the best, but the last one was energetic and charismatic and got a great response from the crowd. They also have a mechanical bull and offer to rides for $5, so we each rode a couple times. Earlier in the night they took it pretty easy on us, but as the crowd grew, the rides tended to be shorter (luckily I had figured out the proper way to ride by this point lol). I absolutely loved my experience at Rhythm & Brews. We stopped by here just to ride the mechanical bull and ended up staying for about 7 hours... If that doesn't tell you what we thought of the place, I don't know what will!
