I have been going to the Wilcrest location for many many years but this location is closed to us so decided to come here for dinner. This place is gorgeous and connected to gallery furniture. There's plenty of seating and a full bar. We got the usual ocampo no meat, I also got a non alcoholic piña colada. Their queso is always good. The service was pretty slow today. I like how this Lopez is bigger and cleaner. Lopez has only one go to dish for me - the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Other things especially the chicken is dry or just pretty basic. I will go back for if I am craving cheese enchiladas. There is a lot of staff, but sometimes the waiter takes a long time to circle back around. First off, the wait staff is incredible. I love a restaurant that puts the needs of the patrons first, even when it's not their table. The restaurant itself was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. Bathroom was also clean. The food was very good. I had an enchilada dinner with their "special gravy", which was a nice red sauce. My wife's poblano was top notch. I love Lopez and I have zero complaints about this new location. Service was great and the food was as good as the original location. I sadly never branch out from my tried and true favorite (chicken flautas for life!!) so that's the only dish that I can speak to here. The kid's menu is the same except there is no up charge at this location if your child desires milk or juice (the original location only offered soda for free). The queso is always wonderful here as a starter and I absolutely love its silky, creamy texture. It's fun to visit this location because you can stroll the connected Gallery furniture store after dinner. They have a huge aquarium tank and their animal exhibit will be opening back up again soon. Tried this spot out on a not so busy Thursday night. We were happy to be quickly seated and were promptly brought out chips and salsa, which was a great little appetizer for us. I ordered the fajita beef chimichanga and although it was pretty big and was enough for me and my wife, I was a tad disappointed that the meat was a bit tough. I've had fajita beef where it just melts in your mouth and that's what I was expecting, even though the flavor was still there. My wife loved the lemondrop martini, even though it was a tad small, and my cerveza was excellent. All in all would definitely try again, maybe next time we will try the fajitas, that's what our neighbors that were sitting next to us raved about. read more

Tried the chimichanga. It had a ground beef filling and only beef. Nothing to hold it together so the contents go spilling out. Didn't really seem to be fried either. The sides were adequate, just precious little of them . Barely any queso on the changa itself and almost no toppings/ salad with it. $14 for that? Will leave you hungry and if Taco Cabana offered it they'd probably do it better. Can't recommend this one and don't think I'll be going back. 4 stars for cleanliness and excellent service. We enjoyed the ambiance and the friendliness of the host and servers. We had the crispy tacos that included the beans and rice. Everything was fresh but also bland except for the charro Beans. The charro Beans are excellent. It was "Hot Chocolate Day", so we asked for Mexican hot chocolate but our server stated they did not have hot chocolate. I would think that a Mexican restaurant would certainly serve Mexican hot chocolate, but all they offered was coffee. Our meal was very average but also very reasonable. If you like good to excellent Mexican food then I would recommend another restaurant but if you prefer an average meal then this restaurant will fill that requirement. read more

I was a little skeptical to return to Lopez after I had some fajitas that tasted bloody at the original location. I am glad I gave this location a try. The restaurant is very large and clean. The staff was all friendly from the hostesses to waitress. -Salsa: I love that their green salsa is actually spicy! -Fajita beef nachos: these were delicious! So much beef and cheese on each chip (~$14) -Ground beef enchiladas: these were soo good! Some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. Highly recommend. I requested the gravy on the side and honestly next time wouldn't even ask for it. We purchased 2 Al Carte enchiladas (~$6.5) -Beef fajitas for 2: the meat was very tender but just missing that chargrilled flavor that higher end Tex mex restaurants have. The tortillas were delicious! (~$40) Overall, I think this is a very solid Mexican restaurant and I will return. Definitely try the enchiladas!! read more

Same great service as the Wilcrest location, as far as friendly staff goes, service does seem a little slower during peak times, so theres that. We weren't in a hurry but we did have to wait a while before our server came back around to take our order and we were just hungry. Didnt really bother us because once the food came out and it came our real quick the quality and presentation was perfect. Taste was on point and we enjoyed it. Lopez has been a solid name for many years in the Mexican food business. That's not an easy task given the amount of Mexican and TexMex places in and around Houston. The location we like to go to, it's close to our house, is on Grand Parkway 99 adjacent to Gallery Furniture. Right off the bat I'll make my only negative statement about Lopez... I only mention this because lots of folks are die hard fajita people on Mexican food night. I do not like their fajitas. They don't come out steaming hot and that's a deal breaker for me. They're not terrible, but there are way better fajitas in the area if that's what you crave. Their salsa is excellent, a touch in the spicy side for some, but it's just right for me. I can't stop eating it! If you're going to go to Lopez you go for the ENCHELIDAS! 9/10 times I will order the 3 enchiladas... fajita beef, fajita chicken, and cheese enchilada plate. I don't think it's on the menu but they'll make it happen. For me, they are the best in our area by a long shot, with the exception of Rays in Katy and the crawfish enchiladas at Pablo's down the road. All of those are fantastic dishes. Lopez "Classic" Margaritas are fantastic and they don't skimp in the tequila... if you have 2 you'll know it. It's no surprise the recipe hasn't changed in 40 years. If it ain't broke don't fix it! One note for those that lean to healthier options... pun intended. The Lopez team make a salad that's pretty epic. It huge, fresh, and dam good. The PALOMA SALAD (Honey-CitrusVinaigrette tossed in a spring mix then topped with granny smith apples, candy- spiced walnuts, avocado, cotija cheese, cherry tomatoes, crunchy tortilla strips, and sliced grilled chicken.) Please don't tell my buddies I went to a Mexican joint for a salad. Oh the shame... this fat boy has got street cred... don't want to ruin it. ;) My wife and I always sit at the bar, Lopez is our "leave the kids at home" and go have drink and a meal spot... AKA date night. So I can't speak for the general wait staff. The bartenders the attentive and helpful. Very friendly and we joke around now that we're easing into being a weekly regular. First time visit for my wife and I at this location on Grand Parkway. It's been a year now with this pandemic and this Lopez restaurant does an excellent job keeping everyone safe. We go out a lot and noticed more and more restaurants are getting a little soft with their sanitation procedures. Not here. This is what we observed. An employee opens the door for you coming and going, hand sanitizer as you walk into the dining area, tables are spaced out, all employees were wearing masks AND gloves. Tables are first wiped down with a cloth dipped in water (maybe bleach and water?) and then they actually use a disposable sanitizer cloth to wipe off the table. We've never seen this before. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waiter. We placed our drink orders along with some guacamole for starters. The guacamole was very creamy with no large chunks of avocado in it (I hate that). We both order the beef fajita tacos. Three stuffed full tacos for $17. Fair price. The beef was cut in cubes and had a nice flavor. We opt for charro beans instead of refried beans. The beans had a great flavor but there was more liquid than beans. Rice was good. The chips were ok, but not the best we've had. Salsa was very watery. Service was excellent and attentive for the entire meal. All the employees were nice and friendly. For the most part, we were please with this Lopez. Even with the few things we didn't like I still give them 5 stars. Good job management! read more

This our first time to Lopez. The restaurant decor is modern and the ambience is very loud. We sat a table tonight near the bar and could barely understand each other. It took a bit for our waiter to finally come and take care of us. Another person took our drinks prior and that was pretty quick. We ordered guacamole as an appetizer and it was smooth but did not have much flavor. We also both had Carne Asada. The meat also had not much flavor. However it was very tender!
