09.11.25 Another frustrating night with lanes not working and constantly breaking down. I bowled on Tuesday night as well, and the oil on the lanes was terrible across every lane. I honestly don't understand their business model anymore. The food used to be excellent -- they had a cook who clearly cared about what came out of the kitchen. Now? They fired him and replaced him with people who can't even make a proper grilled cheese. I've ordered it a few times, and it's been different (and wrong) every single time. One time the bread was just toasted with a single slice of cheese stuck in the middle. Another time they browned the bread on the grill and shoved four slices of cheese inside. A grilled cheese is simple: butter one side of two slices of bread, add one or two slices of cheese, and grill until golden brown. That's it. Someone please teach the kitchen staff the basics. The one bright spot is Jerome, the bartender -- he's the only reason this place didn't get a 1-star review. He make a really good cocktail and know what everyone likes to drink. This business needs an owner who treats it like their pride and joy, not something run on autopilot. It has very slow check in plus whenever you do a reservation on busy nights they overbook it and don't let you in. It also has bad food and it is not very well taken care of. read more

Under new ownership. At the very least these folks live in the area and bowl. If anybody is going to improve the bowling alley it's them. Prices are on the high side but you can bowl in Calvert. My favorite food are the Wings and the Pizza. Bring cash because they charge a 3% charge for plastic. League night are 6 pm Monday through Sunday. Of free bowling (non league) come at least 2 hours prior to league. Call first and find out. Angelina is the best attendant and Rich/ Darren are my favorite mechanics. This place is always busy and full of people, especially on the weekends. The lanes work well and the equipment rental is clean. I do feel like it's unorganized and a little chaotic whenever we go. I'd love to see them bring some modern technology to their business to help expedite services, checkin and availability. The staff is always working hard and it sometimes takes 15-20 mins just to get people on an already open lane. Lots of other lanes out there have digital reservation and payment systems. I'd love to see these adopted here to help get customers through the door faster, allow customers to reserve lanes and free up staff to take care of other services or customer service. read more

This review will be based on Saturdays as that's usually the best time I have to come in. I also usually come in between 12pm and 3pm, so this review will be biased towards coming in at those times. I learned that if you're not using the lanes at the Pax River base, then this is the next closest option. Lanes are regular house shot, I'm feeling mid to heavy oil where Pax River's Strike Zone feels like a general medium level oil. The house balls are a heavily used polyester, and some of the balls will have scrapes and scratches. There are a few newer balls that you'll have to roam around for, but not a problem really. If you're looking to bowl house balls on house shots for some casual fun, this is a good place... just don't try hooking. These house balls throw straighter than the edge of a ruler regardless of your rpm. I've had to use two-handed method to get any sort of decent hook on them. Towards the latter part of the day, the dry might be better, but all in all, you'll be wanting to throw straight into the pocket. Not the case with custom bowling balls, more on that below. Overall, you can tell this was an old school bowling alley. The lanes seem to be kept well, and the rental shoes are decently clean and not too worn. Internally, the atmosphere screams 1990's with new tech on the lanes for modernity's sake. Pricing for games is good here either "by game" or "by hour." I usually end up spending around $20 for three games and some food, but I also own my own balls and equipment. OpenLane app works here, but no sign of LaneTalk. That being said, the building condition gets a 5/5 for standing as old as it is. If you're bringing your own gear, you'll be welcomed to find that the lanes suit the conditions for your own custom made bowling balls. The approach area leaves something to be desired, because the tabling is set on carpet... and we know how we are with our own bowling shoes and carpet. Regardless, especially during the beginning of the day, the bowling area remains clean in my experience. Saturday's are walk-in days, and during the start of the day, I have not had a problem grabbing a lane to throw some shots. These are good lanes to practice on, and they do offer league nights. Regular amenities include a very small arcade area, food, and a bar that doesn't open until later into the night on certain nights. The bathrooms are nice and clean, at least during the day. The locker area is well kept. The food is your usual cafe and fast food style, and generally tastes good. I go for the rockfish every chance I get. As far as lane amenities, the lanes have bumpers for kids, as well as buggy rollers for the little tykes to push their ball into. The consoles have been updated to modern standards, and work with the OpenLane app mentioned prior so you can basically use your smart phone to manage the game. It will also save your games, and email you the scores if you want. The TNT Pro Shop is a small trailer behind the building. Although it may look sketch, you'll find all the equipment you need as well as equipment that the shop owners can use to drill and fit your ball. The operators are very nice, and they have a good selection for those getting into bowling. I highly suggest coming during opening, but if you can't, try to reserve a lane ahead of time by calling in. I haven't had an issue coming in anywhere between 11am-2pm. It definitely gets busier after this time on Saturdays. Also, make sure to get clarity on how many hours you get to bowl, and if there's going to be an interruption as the service desk seems to be pretty busy. You wouldn't want to be interrupted because "League is starting in 10 minutes, so we had to shut down your lane." Please note, if there's a birthday party going on during a Saturday, they may turn low light cosmic bowling for that party as early as 1pm. If that's something you don't want, definitely try coming in at opening to get some regularly lighted gameplay in. Overall, this is a very good establishment for being one of the only bowling centers around. Again, the only other lanes I have access to nearby are the Pax River's Strike Zone, but only open to those with authorized base access. This review posts a 4/5, and it loses a star for the bowling balls. Yes, I did say there were newer house balls, but a good portion of these balls are heavily used. Nevertheless, you'll find that it's still a great place to go on a rainy day. read more

So, a few visits under the belt and they have to be called out. First bad experience involved charging disabled kids from a group trip for food they physically can't eat as a solid. Just laziness and ignorance. Other time we got singled out for having a water bottle, mainly because some kids can't reach their water fountain. Lady walked by dozens of other families eating snacks and drinking bottles clearly from home just to give us crap?? It's a bowling alley, I get it but don't try to single people out. This is an awesome bowling alley and they really cater to kids with special needs they are always having some type of function or event to make all the kids feel like they're part of the community!! I am very happy with his bowling alley and they even have Groupons sometimes which I purchased five at a time because my son and his friend love coming here !! I am a repeat customer and will praise this bowling alley to anyone who asks , and the kids who come here are respectable and so friendly too read more

We had a birthday party here and when we got there the fourth lane we needed was not prepared for us. The young lady was cordial (hence the second star) and let me know that I could set up and that they will "work something out" and let me know what will be happening. As I waited to hear back and got absolutely nothing... I got tired of waiting (also knowing our guests would be arriving shortly) I got up and inquired about the 4th lane. The manager rudely told me "You got it" - no lane number no apology for not letting me know we were good to go. She was just rude. We spent almost $400 from the 4 lanes and additional food. Was there yesterday afternoon attending a birthday party, and this person has done bowling parties the last couple years there. It appeared to be some new staff and everyone acted like they didn't want to be at work. An older gentleman in our party was carded and denied a beer because he did not have a driver's licence but a state id, okay whatever. I was carded at the bar and given a cup for our pitcher of beer. About 10 minutes later another employee came over to me drinking and insisted on rechecking my id. Then my bf goes to the counter to order a seperate meal for his daughter because she did not want pizza or hotdogs that was included in the party. After time went by he went to check on it, they told him they sent it out with all the other food at which someone had already eaten it. They told him they wouldn't do anything without a receipt which I don't know why that mattered at that point because someone else was given his food and they ate it. They were not going to replace it. Will probably be the last time we travel from lexington park for shitty customer service. For anyone that has PAX base access...MWR does $65.00 a lane for 1 hour bowling/1 hour party area which includes shoe rentals, 1 pizza, 1 pitcher of soda and ice cream sandwhiches or cups. read more

I bought a Livng Social deal for this bowling alley, with intentions of taking my kids and friends for some birthday fun. The shock came to me when I ordered one pizza(half cheese, half pepperoni) and a regular order of fries for a total of $23+. Ok, I'm feeding 5 kids. But after I reluctantly bought a pitcher of pop(because we do not usually drink it), I asked if they would refill the pitcher with water from their soda machine....I was told that I would have to pay $5.09 for tap water. Who in the hell charges $5.09 for a pitcher of (questionably) filtered water? Side note, lanes were recently oiled when we were there. Kids had fun, but I will not waste my money again. read more

I ordered some food for the family but didn't want to buy soft drinks so I asked for a pitcher of water, they charged me $3.50 for it, when I asked for the charge to be refunded they told me it didn't matter if I ordered water or soft drinks the price was the same.
