I was torn between giving this location 3 and 4 stars but clearly settled on 4. Why? Because I've visited this bowling alley more than once and more than likely will return on some other occasion. If my experience was "bad" then the desire would not exist. Average bowling alley - that in my opinion, needs upgrades. To visit other establishments such as Bowlero with LED lights, TVs that show actual sports or entertainment shows/games, and an actual bar/drink menu, this location could use some improvements. However, can you simply come with your parties, or by yourself - and get your lane to play? Yes. Can you order decently priced food, that's good? Yes. Service was wack. Ordered a pizza and wanted a pitcher of beer. The kids making the pizza couldn't find the manager to come pour the beer when they finally found her she was sitting on a milk crate behind the registry counter. This ordeal wasted at least 15 minutes of my alley time, by the time I got my pitcher to go to my alley the kids told me my pizza was another minute from being cooked just to wait. Then had to find someone to let the guard rails down from the lane I was in. As I went to change my shoes into the bowling shoes I put my foot in wet spot on the carpet under the table so my sock got wet. The place hasn't been updated since 1992. The themes don't play on the tv and there wasn't even anything you could distract yourself with such as sports on TV. Then when the girl at the end of the night went to clean stuff up she just angrily slammed chairs and snatched stuff off tables in an angry manner. I've been a bartender for 10 years and it was just all around terrible service. Wasn't an excuse just seemed to be miserable and full of people with dead hopes and dreams. Music also was garbage. We've always experienced fast and friendly service! And, I wanted to give a shout-out to John Hoffman. He has been excellent at helping us out with our spring Monday night league. John got us set up so all we have to do is walk in, grab some shoes, and bowl. (And of course pay for our night.) He helps with all our questions and concerns and makes sure we're set with oiled lanes every week. We are definitely looking forward to working with John in the fall after our summer hiatus. HORRIBLE!!! My boyfriend and I came here with our family to enjoy an afternoon of bowling together. We walk in and walk to the counter to get our bowling shoes and the guy was polite and gave us our shoes. We made our way to the concession counter to order our food hoping we can order and then go start our game. We paid for one hour of bowling so we ordered before we started blowing. We ordered mozzarella sticks (they were out of nachos), large pizza with pepperoni and bacon and, a large pepsi. The guy working the concession counter acted as if he was miserable to be there, physically dragging his feet as he walked with his head thrown back in the air. We get our mozzarella sticks and pepsi. The pepsi had very little to no ice and the mozzarella sticks had literally no cheese in them at all due to being so over cooked. We take it back and get a cup of ice and they give us new mozzarella sticks with cheese in only three of them this time. We settled wit We go back to our game of bowling. Several minutes go by so we go ask this same guy how much longer does he think it'll be on the pizza and he replies with "a while". So we went back to our table and proceeded with our game. Another 20 minutes goes by and still no pizza. We go to the counter once again and the guy basically ignores us. My boyfriend has to speak up to get his attention even though he was standing right in front of us. He eventually tells us it's not done yet. We went back to our table to continue our game while we waited. Another however many minutes or so went by at this point and we finished our game and were out of time. We walk to the concession to finish waiting there. We stood and waited for 15 more minutes after finishing a full hour of bowling before ever getting our pizza. We had to take it in a to go box. I do not recommend ever wasting your money here. The customer service is terrible. Everything is extremely outdated. The bathroom was filthy and 2 out of 3 of the toilets were clogged. The music they play isn't good at all. We did not have a pleasant experience. read more

Great bowling ally. The had just reopened about a week ago and we were excited to get out and do something on a rainy day. There were only two other couples in the bowling ally and the lanes were covered that separated us all - they have a table and the associated lanes blocked so that customer groups are appropriately spaced out. The lounge area and the arcade were closed, but we just came to bowl. The restrooms were clean and there was sanitizer for anyone to use at the front counter and as soon as you walk in. We had fun and the shoes seemed extra clean. We had fun, staff was nice, parking was easy, and we would go back. read more

Horrible New Year's Eve event. We have been for 5 years previous with many family and friends and had a great time. This year was complete opposite. The girl at the front desk has a horrible attitude. They decided this year to not allow people to buy pitchers of beer with no real reason why. The balls continued to get stuck and we had to go to the front desk and ask them to get the balls released from the machine many times. The lady making food was doing her best she was very nice, but the kid taking orders messed up many times. They didn't put the ball drop on the tv as previous years. Management needs to do better, he also decided to turn the lights on 30 minutes prior to the event ending so they could "start cleaning up". We didn't pay for an event for it to end early. No wonder why the ally was only half full. We will find another bowling ally for next years New Year's eve. read more

Quite possibly the worst customer service in Annapolis. The girl Lilly at the front desk should not be working with other humans. I guess I wouldn't be a good person to be around if I was working at a bowling alley either so I can't blame her too much. Went for New Years. It was OK. Made the best of it. I agree with some of the reviews that say that some of the employees act like they are disgruntled and don't want to be there. The lanes had some malfunctions and around 12:30am (NYE was supposed to go till 1am) the power shut off all the lanes. Not to say if that was the fault of the bowling alley or not but we just left early. I'm the big scheme of things...it's a bowling alley, how much do you expect? I came here with my gf on a Sunday night-they have a $2.50/pp/game special and shoe rental is $4.50. There were mostly high school aged kids so it fluctuated in noise level. We played three games, ordered french fries and a pretzel, and shared a pitcher of Blue Moon ($15). The bowling was fun, I have some wrist issues so a 9lb was as small as they go for adults, but I made it work. The place is accessible, and I found the staff to all be friendly and accommodating-especially the bartender, they were great! It is close to my home so I would definitely come here again. We arrived at 5:15 on a Monday having called to ask if there were lanes available. There were 4 or 5 lanes in use out of 32 lanes. We were told we couldn't bowl because a leave would need 8 or 9 lanes at 6:00 and they were already oiled, and they had a reservation coming in for the other lanes. No "you could bowl for 45 minutes" or other solution offered. They told us to try another alley in Crofton. We have 3 young kids and just wanted to bowl one game. The customer service was just so poor- no effort to accommodate a family with any of the 15 lanes that could be made available, suggest a night that works well for family bowling- nothing. read more

The Only Review You Need To Read: Tonight was my first time visiting this bowling center, and contrary to some of the other reviewers, my friend and I were both satisfied with the level of service and overall experience. We were served quickly, got assigned a lane, bowling set up was fairly simple and we were bowling within minutes. We didn't visit the snack bar during our time here, though my friend thought the pizza looked delicious. The bathroom (at least the men's) was clean and well stocked (can't comment on the women's restroom). There were no mechanical issues with any of our games. The clientele was fine; families, friends, people on dates - everybody out just having a good time and never once did I feel like there was the potential for any trouble to breakout. And this is not Nordstrom so while the attendant didn't fall over himself trying to be the ultimate concierge, he did what he was supposed to do - he was cordial, serviced us efficiently and had us on our way after paying for our games. Perhaps they've had some personnel changes since some of these reviews were posted, but we had no negative interaction with any of the staff and it was a fun evening out. read more

Annapolis Bowl denied service to my 5-year-old and me. Parents and families, do NOT go here. I visited last night around 6:00 to take my son bowling as a reward for doing well in school. While ¾ of the lanes were open (leagues were in maybe the 1st ¼ of the alley), the man behind the counter said "You're in the middle of leagues. Your child would need a ramp to get the ball down the lanes, and that would be distracting." I stared at the guy for a minute. My son and I have been bowling together for a long time. I've never, ever heard this. In the meantime, my son went down to check out an empty lane behind us. He was putting his foot on the lane floor, which he shouldn't have done, but I called him, corrected him, and he apologized. I was distracted, so that was my fault. I apologized. The employee then said "I'm going to have to ask you to leave. We will not be serving you tonight. You can come back some other time." Seriously, I got kicked out of a bowling alley because I have a child? "I'M GOING TO HAVE TO ASK YOU TO LEAVE. WE WILL NOT BE SERVING YOU TONIGHT." I was dumbfounded / appalled at the way Annapolis Bowl treated me. Do you really expect me to "come back some other time?" I was just trying to go out and have some fun with my child, who is very well-behaved. Again, bowling was supposed to be a reward for doing a great job at a new school. I had to explain to my 5-year-old son we were kicked out of the bowling alley because they didn't want him to bowl there. He got his first taste of how unfair people can be. It was our first visit to the alley- we just moved here. You would have made long-term, frequent customers out of us, our friends, and the social organizations we belong to. I will make sure I share my story with other parents and groups in the area so they know what your business thinks of parents, kids and families. read more

It's located on generals hwy (going to crownsville)on the right, just past the annapolis mall. this bowling alley features three things you need a fun night of bowling- 1.A Bar- the bar is open to everyone 21 and older. they sell pitches for a decent price with quick service and a good selection of mixed drinks (well for a bowling alley anyway). you can even take your pitcher with you to your lane. 2. A snack bar- the snack bar is quick, friendly, clean and features a great selection from pizza, to fires, to chicken fingers to sandwiches. 3. a great monday night special- at the time of this review, the monday night special was as follows: all you can bowl from 9pm to midnight $10 per person ($15 if you need shoes). ** don't go before 9pm as the leagues are practicing** great fun at a great price with great staff. read more

If all you want are lanes, bowling balls, and shoes then they have you covered but if you are looking for atmosphere, it is sub-par. Now this is based on a weeknight experience, I hope the weekends are better but I don't know. The food/bar service was so slow (and it wasn't busy) and the food was just awful!! And I know bowling alley food already holds a low standard so maybe we ordered the wrong things, but don't order the sweet potato fries or the chicken wrap! You'll waste your money and have to wait foreverrr! Better stick to safer items, like the nachos. Those were fine, since its just chips and cheese. And the music was just one country song after another. I would rather have more upbeat music or more variety, but if you love country then you'd be a happy camper. And they stopped serving drinks an hour before they closed which was also a bummer. So I gave two stars for merely existing as the only option in Annapolis but I have been to better ones. read more

We had our work Holiday Party here last week. Carol was an absolute delight to work with - she helped organize a fabulous party. She was very helpful with every aspect of planning. I highly recommend having a party at Annapolis Bowl. It was a nice change to the normal holiday dinner. We had a blast and will definitely return to do something in the spring/summer. me and two other gentleman got kicked out of the establishment because of our inexperience. we asked multiple times for the gutters to go up but they refused because we were older than the age of 9. then my friend laid probe on his chest to improve accuracy they kicked us out. that night we only bowled 20 minutes and paid for 3 hours. we asked for our money back and the short lady refused. read more

$5 cover on Thursdays will let you bowl for $1 per game + $1 for shoes AND $1 hotdogs and sodas. Quite a steal! Fridays and Saturdays are very crowded with families and teeny boppers sitting on each other's laps. Night bowling is fun, if you want a nice semi-sober time with your date or the family. It's the only place to bowl in the Crownsville/Annapolis vicinity, so I have no other place to compare it to. It's worth a try! read more

This bowling alley is nice to visit on a Sunday. There are not a lot of people here so it's not to loud and you always get a good lane. Their fries and wings are AWESOME and the service I received from Matthew at Cap'n Kegler's was magnificent. He made sure I knew what I was ordering, told me how to get the most for my buck and let me know when the food was ready AS SOON as it was done so it was hot when I got it. You can't find great customer service now days but this Sunday in particular I did. He should get a raise! read more

I went bowling on a Sunday night in Annapolis . There were about 6 lanes in use and all were on far right. I asked for lane in center and was told it wasn't available. Clearly, it was. They just didn't want players to spread across the facility. The older gentleman at counter was rude as if we interrupted his evening. Our lanes were next to bathrooms and I could smell odor. Apparently the bathrooms are not disenfected. I gagged when I stepped into ladies room. The odor wAs that strong. I do not recommend this location because they lack customer service. If they don't want customers, then close the place down. The owner fails to realize that they can put food on their tables and pay bills as long as customers continue to show up and pay to use their lanes. They have large speakers and play loud busy music that is totally distracting. read more

It's clean, it's got a vending machine that sells socks, 32 lanes, friendly staff and, of course, super mediocre, but still delicious bowling alley food. (How does that make sense?! Whatevz.) I don't know what it is about bowling alley food, but I love it. I think it's because bowling is a physical activity and that makes you hungry, which makes food automatically taste better. This place got two stars just cause the lanes are nice. The employee I dealt was just awful! She acted like she did not want you to be there at all and that any question you asked is above her and it does not matter. The rest of the staff was nice but she ruined it for me. The alley is clean, the staff is friendly and the shoes and bowling balls all seem to be in good condition. Plenty of parking is available. I enjoy bowling here.....when I can get a lane. The last 3 times that I have gone, I have not been able to get a lane. Ok, I understand that they have leagues, but it's so disappointing to walk in and see every lane empty waiting for the teams to show up in an hour or so. Again, I understand, it's just frustrating that a non-league person cannot go out with friends after work and expect to get a lane. In an effort to avoid getting blocked out like we did our prior two attempts, a friend and I went on 1/11/2013 around 2:30pm to try to get a game or two in. That should be early enough, right? People are still at work, most kids are still in school and it's a weekday. No luck. Apparently they had again reserved all of the lanes for a youth league. Sheesh! I have no idea of when to show up at Annapolis Bowl to actually bowl! So just three stars. Oh yeah, not that this is the fault of Annapolis Bowl, but making a left out of the parking lot can be a nightmare. This place should honestly get negative stars. Where do I even start? The owner is a terrible person who does not care for his customers. They will try to overcharge you and all of the employees are rude. The food sucks. The bud light tasted like it went bad a month or two ago. If your ball gets stolen they will blame it on you and not help whatsoever.
