    Lafayette Cemetery 1

Great tour of the Lafayette cemetery #1 and mansion tour of the garden district. Our guide, Jackson, was very knowledgeable and well worth the nominal cost. A definite must when visiting the Garden District.

Really fun tour! Chaz had a lot of personality and definitely kept everyone's attention throughout. I had previously heard about two of the stories he told but not in as much detail as he was able to give them, which was a lot of fun and a nice plus. We were also lucky (?) Enough to have a huge thunder and lightening storm pass through near the end of the tour and the lightening and thunder kept perfectly punctuating his lines. Haha. All together really fun time, great stories, unbiased opinions, and an all around entertaining evening.

Went on this tour in March '11 after checking out a few videos of Lord Chaz's performances on youtube. We had such a wonderful time and found it to be a great mixture of history, myth, and theatric performance. I found the $20 it costs to be well worth the price, plus I added Lord Chaz on facebook. You can get some serious entertainment from his status updates. Great show, great performer! I will be taking this tour again when I go back for Mardi Gras 2012!

    Watch out for those nails!

What a character! Fun, funny and has a great knowledge of "The Quarter". Tour lasts about 2 1/2 hours. You will take a "bar" break which is also a good time as Chaz hangs with the crowd and tells more entertaining stories. The end of the tour is "trippy" to say the least... Chaz leaves you thinking about it the rest of he night!

    Lord Chaz in fully glory.

Not impressed, the tour was more history than ghost stories!! He was late, used silly accents and talked a lot about himself.

From the moment we sat down, the staff set the tone--professional, genuinely friendly, and impressively efficient. We began with a trio of starters that showcased both richness and restraint. The foie gras torchon was silky and indulgent, perfectly complemented by fruit confiture and warm, toasted Bellegarde Bakery bread--a classic pairing done right. Marinated crab claws, dressed in a lively chili vinaigrette, delivered a bright, briny punch, while the pickled pineapple and jalapeño chips added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. A cucumber salad rounded out the starters, crisp and refreshing, acting as a welcome palate reset before the mains. For entrées, comfort and finesse shared the plate. The confit chicken thighs were meltingly tender, paired with ham-braised greens swimming in a tangy apple cider vinegar broth. A lovely Dijon cream tied everything together, adding richness without overwhelming the dish. Equally memorable was the half smoked duck, beautifully executed and deeply flavorful, served over a smooth pumpkin-sweet potato purée. The cherry bourbon glaze brought a subtle sweetness, while the pepitas added texture and a nutty finish. Dessert was the perfect exclamation point on an already wonderful meal: a slice of hot chocolate cheesecake, decadent and deeply chocolaty, crowned with toasted marshmallow fluff that leaned just enough into nostalgia without crossing into excess. Toups Meatery continues to deliver thoughtful, soulful cooking with polish and heart--comfort food elevated, served by a team that clearly knows what they're doing. A thoroughly satisfying experience from start to finish.

She came across like an overly dramatic theater kid who couldn't dial it back. Her mannerisms and constant theatrics were cringey, and while maybe one or two stories had potential, the delivery completely ruined them. She would randomly go off on personal tangents (where she lives, her parents, and other irrelevant details) that had absolutely nothing to do with ghosts or vampires and added nothing to the experience. The worst part was her points system, where she'd give out points if people followed instructions or answered questions. For example, when we stayed on the sidewalk instead of walking in the street, she'd shout "10 points!" and point at each person while repeating it. It wasn't quirky or fun, it was just annoying. I wouldn't recommend this tour based on her alone. After our awful experience we tried another company called Nola Ghost Riders and I'd highly recommend them. They are located at the Voodoo Lounge off Decatur St, while French Quarter Phantoms is at Voodoo Lounge off Rampart St.

Date of tour: December 21, 2024…read more After a wonderful food tour in Prague last year, we wanted to replicate the magic stateside while visiting New Orleans, a city with a rich food history and scene. As requested, I will keep the individual location names secret as to not spoil your potential food tour but also because the stops can change and I don't want to have you disappointed if you don't get the same places on your tour. Ty was a great guide, providing us with local history and culture as we ate our way down Magazine Street. The only complaint I have is that they didn't really interact with us during the food portions, standing or sitting off to the side, or running to the next location to make sure we were all set. To me, the guide should be not only the bridge between the locations and food with us, but also a bridge between the different groups on the tour. Ty told us before the tour started that the other folks joining us were from Michigan, but we found out from them later that they were actually from New York. Had these connections been made earlier, it would have enhanced the tour. On to the food, wonderful that it all was! Please note that I may make some errors in the actual names of the food, while I took pictures, I did not write down the names and there wasn't a post-tour recap to assist me! Stop #1: A local sandwich and a seafood side. Both quite good, especially since I don't like olives! Stop #2: An unusual meat that was shockingly good! Stop #3: Seafood options. I've had a different version of one of these items in Asheville, NC. This wasn't quite as good but still tasty. Stop #4: Southern favorites that were so good! I didn't think I would like these but I did. Stop #5: A peppermint fudge cupcake. Sadly, the weakest stop on the tour. Other that tried the gelato came away disappointed and my cupcake was neither overly fudgey or pepperminty. It looked pretty, though!

This is a small group experience, which is why I wanted to do this one. We met at the Tableau Restaurant and were offered the choice of an aperol spritz or a French 75. We chose the spritz. We were told some history and ghost lore before going up to the wine room for some more stories. Very cool. They showed us video of a ghostly incident that had occurred there before. Next we walked down the street where we were told about the haunting at Muriel's Restaurant, where they also set a ghost table. Our last stop was at a psychic shop where we did a tarot card reading and we're given a Pan Am cocktail. I highly recommend this tour. It's unique and you get a little bit of all the good things you come to New Orleans for.

Believe it or not, most of the tour companies focus solely on ghosts, but we wanted the vampire history as well. The tour itself is 1.5-2 hours with a short break at a local dive bar that serves alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages at a cheap price. The tour guide will also point families with minors to another local spot. Getting into the tour itself, we were lead by Andi, a new resident to New Orleans with lots of knowledge on the paranormal and history of the city. Their voice and way with words made for remarkable storytelling that drew me in. Not only did Andi give us adequate information on ghosts in the neighborhood, the Ursuline convent, Marie Laveau, St. Germaine and more, but they lead with empathy. Explaining why it's important to remember the dark history of both slavery and racism. I learned a lot on the history of voodoo and understand it in a better light, not the version the church likes to portray. I was hesitant about seeing the Lalaurie mansion because I was worried about how the guide would describe this place, but the way they handled the topic was very appropriate. I really respect that they didn't romanticize the gory aspects, but emphasized how horrific the events that occurred here were. The woman who lived there was evil and its better to keep a distance from the house, which our guide also warned us about. "It's important that we remember our history, it helps us become kinder people." -Andi Moving on to the rest of the tour, I can say I learned quite a lot and was satisfied the experience. I didn't see a ghost, but I did smell tobacco smoke underneath William Faulkners apartment. 10/10 I would recommend Witches Brew Tours to anyone looking for a ghost tour.
