Went to Lorenas tonight because La Puente was closed. I was quickly reminded why we stopped coming to Lorenas. Food is gross but most of all the attitude from the girl working the front. Rude and unprofessional on the phone. Even worse in person. Asked for no beans with an order, looked fine. Got home and found they just covered the beans with rice. Food was disgusting. Pitiful at best. Worst Mex I have had in a long time. The whole combination minus the rice I guess, was just beans. Taco? Nope, never had my taco made with beans. Tostado? Nope, just a stale tortilla filled with MORE beans. It comes with an enchilada, but guess what, if you don't want more BEANS and cheese you pay extra for any kind of real enchilada. My mild complaint at check out was simply ignored. Everyone in my party was disgusted as well. They had no problem with taking my money though. No apologies for the nasty, poorly crafted Mexican food. Mexican food is always my favorite choice. Never again will I visit this place. I still left a tip though, because I do have class. read more

We were on aroad and decided to stop for Mexican food at a small business to help the small business community. Bad mistake! Food was nasty, portions horrible, cashiers looked like punks! I ordered chile verde combo. I got a lot of chile (salsa) but only three pieces of meat. My wife asked for tacos de asada. They don't have asada. WTF?? My wife ended up getting some enchiladas that were drenched in Salt - She only ate one because it was so salty. We got my son rice and beans - they dumped all the cheese on there. It was more cheese with Spots of rice & beans. Makes me sad that we want to help small business but then we got screwed over by them. read more

By far one of my favorite restaurants. It's a little run down restaurant but it's still clean and delicious food. I used to go here once a week and order take out. When placing for take out make sure you get everything you want on your order. Doing take out vs dine in is a completely different experience. Take out is not as delicious, and smaller portion sizes. Dine in is hotter food, larger portions and you get 1 complementary chips and salsa (refills $2) take out you don't get the chips, which is kinda sad. Take out you get below average customer service, they are just getting you in and out the door. Dine in, you will have a friendly server, great recommendations, and tasty food. Ive been here again, this time alone. Ordered a big plate with taco, chorizo e mole. Even if I'm not a great Mexican food fan, food is like to fill-the-stomach. Im really impressed how us possible to sell 10$ of pure frijoles refritos con taco de harina blanca. The enchilada mole is really really disgusting, looks like a taco dead in a ketchup lake. Chorizo is beans and beans, taco is taco and beans. The other is commercial cheese and beans. The hostess just seated me as a potato bag. Last time here, I feel the acid in the stomach! read more

We ate at Lorena's tonight. The food was ok, but not as flavorful as it usually is. The service though was HORRIBLE! That is the worst treatment I've received in a restaurant since I was a rowdy teenager. Our party are all over 50 now. The staff were very rude and it was everyone not just our waitress. The hostess couldn't get us flatware we had to go get our own off an empty table. Our waitress acted like we were in her way and not worth her time. I've been coming here since I was little little, like 5. I'm 22 now, and I still have cravings for this place all the time! It definitely deserves more recognition for its service. It's not in my nature to like surprises but the fajitas hit the spot! The food here is similar to La Frontera, La Puente or restaurant like that, but hello, this one has a dancing cactus couple and is locally run in Bountiful. I love that they are open on Sunday. I typically get my food to go, but when I dine in the service meets expectations. When I call an order to go they always get it right, and pickup is typically pretty fast unless a bunch of dine-in patrons are also paying. For the amount of food you get and the price, I just live to fill myself with warm carbs. I always get a smothered burrito with a side of rice and eat most of it with chips. read more

Stopped in here for a bite to eat on our way home from Dicken's Festival. Not the fanciest of places. We were all hungry and decided what the heck let's give it a try. Ordered chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. My sister ordered the same and her husband ordered the beef. Food wasn't bad...nothing to write home about sorry. I like a pico type salsa. This was smooth and spicy served in a catsup container. Chips were warm and tasty. First one is free, second bowl of chips is $1.75. Prices were fair. But, I don't think we will be back. Don't waste your money or time here! I wish I'd read the reviews before going, but we were staying at a hotel just down the street after visiting family for Thanksgiving and there was a snowstorm, so we mistakenly thought this was a nice family owned Mexican restaurant within walking distance. Boy, were we in for a surprise! Let me preface this review by saying that I've worked in restaurants and have been in customer service my entire adult life, I'm now in my 60's... I eat out often... Well, this was by far and above the worst experience service wise and probably the most horrible Mexican food (if you can call it that). The waitresses were rude, practically threw the food at us and yelled at us. Then they had the nerve to ask us for a tip! Since we had ordered takeout, we had no idea how horrific the food was until we got back to the hotel. We threw most of it away. The quesadilla consisted of a barely warmed up tortilla with a partially melted glob of cheese, the chicken flautas had no flavor whatsoever, nor did the guacamole. We usually like this place, but today was nothing to write home about. We ordered two smothered burritos and a chicken enchilada. Everything lacked flavor, almost like it was the original recipe but diluted to make more. Not sure what happened, but it just wasn't good. Since I'm writing a review, I'll also add the the food came out lukewarm rather than the usual piping hot where you can't even touch the plate. The chips were good, salsa good, water good...service, not so much. When the server came to check on us and asked if everything tasted good, we kind of laughed in hesitation and as I said we were just taking about the food, she smiled and walked away. We told the bus boy that the food wasn't up to what we have come to expect from them and he apologized. Needless to say, we left disappointed. Then, if you change something from flour to corn tortilla, vice versa, or try to mix the tortillas, they charge you. service was terrible. waitress scribbled the bill down so you couldn't even read it. I wish I could give zero stars. This is the worst restaurant I have ever visited. An international friend of mine came for a visit and wanted Mexican food. I don't know the Mexican restaurants around here well, save for Red Iguana, and didn't want to deal with the long wait there, so I figured why not try the one closest to me. It's been here for years and always has a semi full parking lot, must at least be alright, right? No. It's garbage. We walked in, sat down, and waited. Waited, waited some more, waited a bit more, then on the way to the restroom my friend mentioned to a passing waitress that we were ready to order. That waitress eventually got around to telling another waiter, and he eventually came over. So we ordered, finally. I got a chicken chimichanga, my friend ordered beef enchiladas. Food came pretty quickly. I took my first bite and found that the chicken chimichanga consisted of extremely tough chicken with virtually no flavor. I could barely cut into the damn thing. But I kept trying, I ate about a third of that tasteless, impossible to cut with a fork nonsense, before I just gave up. My friend was more persistent with the beef enchiladas. She said she wasn't sure how she felt, that they tasted "sour", but kept trying. She probably got through nearly half the plate before she gave up too. She actually offered me a bite after I admitted I couldn't eat my chimichanga. I took a bite and had to spit it in my napkin, it was absolutely disgusting. I have no idea how she managed to plod through half that plate and have apologized extensively for taking here there and subjecting her to this awful food. Even the rice and beans were awful, I could do better with the rice and beans I buy at Target. Anyone could. Fortunately we didn't have to admit to our distaste during our meal because the staff there never once dropped by to refill drinks or see if the food was alright. They didn't bother coming to give us our check for a good ten minutes after we stopped trying to get through it either. Customer service seems to take a back seat to awful food at Lorena's. I would not recommend this restaurant to somebody I disliked, and have apologized quite a lot to my friend for taking her there. There's a building right off the freeway in woods cross with a functional kitchen and a decent sized dining space that is serving the worst food possible, it's called Lorena's. Please don't go there, for your sake and mine, I'm certain that even if they were replaced by a Village Inn it would be a huge upgrade. read more

The food is good, but the consistency is what lets this restaurant down. This lack of consistency has caused me to give up on this restaurant. I believe Lorena's is an independent restaurant that is within a family of restaurants with similar food (La Frontera and La Puente). If you like those places, you would like here, but the lack of consistency brings it down. The food is good. Good salsa and some really good Chile Verde and Chile Colorado. Although, I think they can be a bit heavy handed with the cheese. The consistency problem generates from the preparation of the food. On two separate occasions, I've had inedible cold food. Another time, I got sick. I know, why did I keep eating there? There are a few reasons. I like to give a restaurant a few opportunities before I give up on it. Especially, if I've had some good experiences in the past. Also, there aren't many places to go to in this area. The final straw was that all of these occurrences happened within the last five visits. Prices are reasonable. Lunch specials change daily during the weekdays and run about $6-$8. Non-specials can cost you around $4-12 depending on what you ordered. 5% discount for paying with cash. I believe that I've given this place a fair shot, but it has continued to disappoint. Now, I will make my own or go to Chile Tepan in SLC for my fix. Lorena's is a true temptress. She invites you in for some good experiences and then treats you like garbage after you placed your trust in her. Avoid this place; unless, you're into that love/hate relationship thing. In town visiting with a very large group of friends (30+) and dined here. There wasn't enough servers to handle our size of party, although there were plenty of staff walking around. Ordered drinks and food and food came out before we received any drinks. Thanks goodness for the pitchers of water on our tables or we would have had nothing. Our particular group is led by a local family that dines here often with many guests from out of town that have never dined here before. ***WARNING*** watch your bill as they like to overcharge. Only 1st bowl of chips is complimentary. I inquired to the server about our bill and she stated that our 2nd bowl of chips was NOT complimentary and because I asked for cheese on top of my chimi that was extra even though I didn't want sauce or any condiments. I was very disappointed by her response. I would suggest that servers share that there is an additional charge for chips or cheese or anything that is additional instead of pissing off customers. When I reached the register to pay on our way out the family that we were with assisted me at the register as I was explaining to the cashier. Her snotty teenage attitude completely turned me off and therefore the poor review. I could understand the busy waitress and maybe she made a mistake. To Lorenas, if you care about your reputation and want to increase your YELP reviews, hire staff that cares about the customers. The cashier on 5/13 evening was absolutely rude and argumentative and the family I was with reminded her that they bring a lot of business to them. Customers have a choice and apologizing and explaining policies with some compassion goes a long way instead of teenage rude attitude. HOLY FUCKING SHIT! What the actual f. What should have been a $40.00 bill turned into over $70.00 with extra charges we were not told about. We were offered out things smothered and with cheese and onion and asked if we wanted sour cream. One plate was charged an extra $10.00 for those but we didn't find out until after we received the bill. The food looked questionable, and after eating half of my enchilada which was too much because the taste was off, I started feeling ill. Great deal on lunch smothered burritos Monday and Tuesdays for only $6.99. Good portions with a good amount of beans and rice on the side. Includes fountain drink. Pretty good for the price. Not a huge fan of the smothering sauce on the burrito but it had a little kick which helped the taste. The salsa was good. The rice and beans were great. My burrito had chicken chunks inside that were hard and flavorless. Also not the most friendly or helpful servers. Didn't come by once asking how the meal was or ask if we wanted refills for our drinks or chips. read more
