We came here spontaneously at 5 on a Saturday night, and we got seated immediately. The complimentary chips and salsa were yummy, but we were blown away by the food! I got the enchiladas de mole, which were incredible. The mole was rich and flavorful, and there was plenty of chicken inside each enchilada. My boyfriend got a beef burrito that was HUGE! Agaves was awesome. Authentic Mexican food and drinks. Everything was fantastic. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately. The service was fantastic. Our server told us about the menu, the restaurant origin, and other locations. We both got margaritas to start - mango and strawberry. Both were so good and the strawberry was made with strawberry puree. We got homemade chips and salsa while deciding on food. The salsa was fantastic. We got free refills. We ended up getting a half dozen oysters to start. I got the chicken nachos for my entree and my boyfriend got the chicken fajitas. Everything was so delicious. We even got to talk to the chef. It was pretty quiet inside the restaurant. Everyone was sitting at the bar, us included. Everything was so good and came out so quickly. We got to try the homemade hot sauces as well, which were great. The prices were worth the portion sizes. We ended up with leftovers. The bathrooms were not gender neutral, but were handicap accessible. Due to the great food and service, I would definitely come back again. Came here before a flight and was super happy with my experience. It was not busy at all - I came around 2pm on a Thursday. Service was great, food was delicious and authentic, and prices were reasonable. I got 1 birria taco, 1 Al pastor taco, and 1 carne asada. They were all delicious but the carne asada was definitely my favorite, the flavors were great. Definitely would come back!!! I had no issues finding street parking. read more

The food is pretty good-I had chicken and BBQ chicken tacos. I really enjoyed their salsa. Not a fan of the tortillas. The Margaritas were good too -hubby got the spicy and I got the jamaican (hibiscus flavor). All in all I'd recommend it. It was a cute little restaurant, and the Service was really good. She was really helpful, really patient and even talked a little Spanish with my husband who is learning. Definitely a family place. First off, on a 98 degree day, they have no AC!! Their food is low grade dog food! I guess it's true that the farther away you get from Mexico/California the worse the "Mexican food". The only good part of the meal was the chips and salsa and the drinks! We paid over $100 for nasty ass crap food. The entire staff, including kitchen were Hispanic. And there were at least two tables of Hispanic customers. WTH? Another solid Yelp find! Excellent service, uber clean and tasty! The traditional, spicy and Cadillac margaritas were excellent. Shared a molcajete for 2, great flavored red broth and a wonderful presentation. We also tried a side of mole sauce which is my barometer for authenticity. I'm tickled to report that the mole was excellent! The restaurant, and the banos, were also very clean. We came here after playing archery tag neaby and we we had a good time! The food and margaritas were delicious, and the portions we're massive for the price! My only complaint is that the service was very slow despite the restaurant being nearly empty. We ordered a myriad of the margaritas, all of which were very tasty. The mojitos- not as good, a bit too sweet for my taste. The ceviche was my favorite dish, and could have been an entree for how large it was. This is a little hole in the wall type. Most of the workers don't even speak English but they are very nice. We came here mostly for their margaritas but also split the chicken fajitas. I tried the coconut and a mango margarita and they were strong! This place doesn't skimp out on their alcohol. The coconut margarita was a little more heavier and more filling whereas the mango was more lighter. Both were very delicious! The chicken fajitas was a big portion, definitely good for sharing if you're not super hungry. It came with tortillas, beans, rice, lettuce and mashed avocado. The fajita was more on the basic side, nothing special but it was still good. They also bought out free chips and salsa when we sat down so I always appreciate Mexican restaurants that does this. Overall, this place was really good (especially the margaritas!). For the price of the items, I think it was a good call! read more

My dad and I stopped by here to eat dinner the night before flying back home. It was very last minute and we wanted to eat somewhere outside of the downtown area. We're from the south so it was hard not have chips and queso (cheese dip) to start off with. We've found that queso is more of a southern thing. Aside from that, the chicken fajitas were extremely good. I'm pretty picky about chicken but this was good quality, white meat chicken. My dad really enjoyed his food as well. We were sat right away and the service was great. Not sure that I would go out of my way to come back here (it takes something pretty spectacular for me to revisit a restaurant in a city that I don't live in). Los Agaves is easy to miss as you're driving through Chelsea, but is absolutely worth a stop. The outside is unassuming, and the inside is clean (but nothing fancy). It definitely has a local feel to it. Our server was great, and always seemed to be right at the table as soon as we needed a drink refill. Overall, I'd break this place down as: Food: 4 stars (The mole enchiladas were great, and I loved that they didn't skimp on the sauce. The entree came with 2 enchiladas, but it was enough food that I couldn't finish it all and had some leftovers to take home). I loved that it came with guac! Chips and salsa were OK (chips were a little thicker than I like, but to each their own). Los Agaves is usually one of my go-to eats. It has a great menu, drinks and service. However my recent take out experience had me questioning my choice. In particular the nachos. We ordered 2 orders of Nachos (along with some amazing burritos) and they looked like something I threw into the microwave carelessly. I mean for 9 10$ how the hell is this acceptable. Could have been an off night (Thursday)--every resteraunt has them....Regardless I'm not going to call on Los Agaves for takeout for awhile unless management reaches out to rectify this. Great local Mexican spot in Chelsea with fun interior and good menu selection. We came here on a Friday night around 7pm for dinner and got a seat in the second dining room. The main dining room features a huge mural on the wall with seating dispersed throughout. The bar lines the back wall and there is a second dining area towards the back. Our server brought us complimentary chips and salsa to start with. The chips seemed housemade and crispy! I ordered a traditional margarita, one chicken taco, one asado taco, and one barbacoa. My husband got the asado burrito. Our food was brought out shortly along with two salsas--one tomatillo and one spicier red salsa. My tacos were delicious! The barbacoa was probably my favorite--juicy pulled pork on a yellow corn tortilla with plenty of flavor. My margarita was pretty good but I was a bit disappointed to find out it had a sugar rim, not salt. Oh, and did I mention a mariachi band was there playing? It was great for entertainment and they moved to each dining room to play several songs. We also noticed a separate long table of people celebrating a birthday. The manager (I think) spoke to us several times and was very friendly. Our meal was around $27 which is very reasonable. We'll definitely be back! read more

Love the atmosphere! Threes two dining rooms one has a crystal chandelier. But all the decoration is bright and vibrant. I went for lunch and got a delicious steak torta that was packed! It also came with a side of fries. The best part for me was that on a cold afternoon they had hot chocolate from the bars, not the powder Swiss miss. So our waitress had to go make it and foam it just right to then serve it in these beautiful handmade mugs. It was a pleasant experience and I look forward to coming back again. I didn't quite give it 5 stars bc the fish my mother got looked good and well prepared with all the fixings (rice, salad, tortillas, etc) but it wasn't the best we've had.
