This is really a 3.5-4. This is a nice neighborhood place that my boyfriend took me to a few times, and I finally visited alone. The great thing about the fajita meat is that it's cooked fresh and doesn't sit out all day. The portion sizes are also generous for the price, which is great. The meat is good not great and there could be way more grilled veggies. The rice and beans are okay, but nothing to rave about. I appreciate that I can come here for a healthy portion, take home plate for a good price (cheaper Option than the Mexican spot a couple blocks away) but I know I'm not going to necessarily be wowed by food. Solid 5. Delicious food with good value. Small restaurant with tables and chairs. Order at the counter. This is the newest location. The smaller space they had was down a few steps and had very little counter space to eat. This place is really quite nice and the food is very enjoyable. I ordered the chicken nacho. It was shared between two people and was plenty full. You can ask for different items to be added, or not added at the counter and watches they make it. I prefer no rice on mine. It was fill in generous. My friend ordered the tacos and I've had tacos here before and they're very good as well. It's casual good food with plenty of parking at meters outside. The folks that work here primarily speak Spanish, but they are easy to communicate with and know what you want. Very accommodating about putting together your order. First off, this is NOT a "Mexican" restaurant ... like almost all "Mexican" restaurants in New England, it's owned and operated by SALVADOREANS. There are very, very few Mexican folks living up here. People from the rest of Latin America just adopt the "Mexican" label because they know that to the average under-educated American, "Mexican" applies to everybody who speaks Spanish and has brown skin (just like "Chinese" applies to everybody who looks East Asian, lol) ... in short, it's their economically-necessitated adaptation to all the rampant stupidity here. As such, the best dishes here are the ones you'd never find an actual Mexican restaurant run by actual Mexican people, namely the Salvadorean staples like pupusas and tamales (very different from Mexican tamales). And those two are especially delish. The chicharrone is good too, though a tad on the dry side. Just keep in mind that the rest of Latin America considers Mexican food too spicy, so you're not going to get the same fiery flavors. The "tacos" here? Well, they're about on par with the "tacos" you can get anywhere else in this town (except for Chipotle which is really bad dumbed down gringo food). Service is ok, a little indifferent (don't expect instant attention and a friendly greeting the moment you walk in the door) but not terrible. The place has been remodeled so it's about 4 times bigger and much more pleasant than it used to be a few years ago, you can actually sit down and have a comfortable meal here unlike before when it was do cramped and usually packed to the gills. Open late, portions are still generous and prices still very decent for the area. Best of all, you can order online directly from their website for pickup (avoid all the rip-off delivery apps that Google tries to funnel you into) to side-step any language impediments when in person or on the phone with them. read more

As a long-time Somerville resident, I love this place!! You know it's great when whenever you go in, it is consistently busy. The location was originally a hole in the wall but has been relocated next door to a larger space with more seating. The staff is efficient and does a fantastic job managing the volume. They are always pleasant. When u first walk up to the counter, you are able to see some of the food displayed inside, and everything I tried has been absolutely delicious. The portions are a satisfying size with reasonable prices to match. I always go with the chicken tacos with everything on them and a veggie quesadilla. It is a small mom and pops shop with delicious tacos and papusas I got the beef tongue taco, steak taco, a papusa revuelta (stuff with meat and cheese), and a cold pina colada. The tacos were simple but delicious. Double flour tortilla with your favorite toppings. The meat were cooked perfectly: tender and juicy. You have to get all the toppings that they have to get the best bite. The papusa was pretty good too. Hot, made to order, and served with house coleslaw and sauce. Overall, it was a great meal!
