Phantom Gourmet was filming while we visited! Quiet, snowy Thursday night. El Potro was close to our hotel. Clean, spacious. Decorated like most Mexican restaurants with bright colors and wall decor homage to Mexican culture. Super friendly and helpful staff. The free chips and salsa, has a little kick to it! My pina colada- tasty! My steak fajita- seasoned well. Wish they would add more shredded cheese and sour cream to my plate for 3 tortillas. Their refried beans are salty and a win with me. No complaints from the family with their meals. True score: 3.5

Best. Wings. Ever. I know it's a Mexican restaurant, and there are a bunch of authentic dishes I could rave about, but the wings here are so freaking good. Spice level is spot on. Consistently tender. It's just addictive. Do yourself a favor and order them! Everything else I've tried is good too - mole, guac, burrito, shrimp tacos, tamales. Lots of seating. People also come for the bar and watch games that are on. Decorated very vibrantly. There's a parking lot. Pricing is around $25-35 per person, can be more if you get multiple drinks. Staff is pleasant. I've seen other locations in the bos area, but I've only made my way to this location in Chelsea and I highly recommend!

I've frequented to El Potro in Chelsea for their tortilla soup which is always on point. Unfortunately, yesterday we had an incident where my boyfriend either left his wallet in the restaurant or accidentally dropped it in the parking lot. After about 2 hours we returned to the restaurant and was allowed to search for it. William, the on-site manager, got my boyfriends name and number to call regarding obtaining surveillance footage. When we left, the wallet was in the parking lot. It was in a different area from where he has initially parked. Luckily the perpetrator(s) only took the cash and left his license and all his credit/debit cards in the wallet. It was strange though because it didn't look like the wallet was outside on the ground for a long period of time (it wasn't dirty, cold, or wet from the ground). I reported a possible theft. The Corporate Manager, Joe Carreiro responded in a timely fashion and assured us that he is investigating the situation. He even stated that he will have access to Market Basket surveillance to try and pin point who took the cash out of his wallet and said that he would contact us if they see who did it via surveillance. It didn't seem like it, but i'm hoping that it wasn't an employee who did it. At the end of the day, God knows and sees all. Just want to finish by saying that their food is delicious and their staff are very friendly. Thank you Mr. Carreiro for taking out the time to call me personally.

Went for dinner since it was close to our hotel. It wasn't horrible. I think the food could've been a lot better. We were greeted nicely by the hosts and seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't busy, so it was quiet inside. We ordered chips and salsa, a tamale, and a burrito. The burrito was dry. The tamale was okay. It was expensive for the quality. Not to mention the $10 quac..

Can't beat the convenience- directly across from our hotel. Following a long travel day, my husband and I were ready for a drink and a good meal. Festive family restaurant atmosphere- bright and colorful. Good service. My margarita was unremarkable- and for $14.95 I should be blown away. My marg cost more than my food (tortilla soup and tamale off the app menu). It was watery and lacked great flavor. I enjoyed the tortilla soup most. The tamale was good. Both items + chips/salsa made for a filling meal. My husband thought his enchilada trio was good, typical Mexican fare. I think diners will get a decent meal here and it's worth the stop after a long travel day, but I wish the marg had been better. After 10 hours of travel that was the thing I was most looking forward to!

The food was excellent. I ordered the enchilada trio, all 3 were delicious. My husband ordered the vegetarian burrito which he said was excellent! I also ordered the cheese dip which was yummy. The chips and salsa was good too. The coconut margarita was also very good. The service was excellent!! We were well taken care of by the staff. The cherry on top was the live music. The mariachi band was so good!! I'm so happy we decided to give this restaurant a try. Great way to end our vacation.

El Potro was such a pleasant surprise. It is the classic Mexican restaurant that we've been looking for. The chips and salsa were perfect and the guacamole was fresh. We had the pork tacos and an enchilada and they were both big delicious portions. The churros were filled with dule de leche and these were some of the best churros I've ever had. The service was pretty good and the food came out quickly. We will be coming back again and again.

11-23-22 Staying at the Double Tree in Chelsea for the 3 rd time in a month, we've eaten in the hotel's limited restaurant, ordered Chinese takeout but finally we walked a couple blocks and found this delightful Mexican eatery. The booths and individual chairs are colorfully painted. There's a happy vibe going on with silver intricately carved lighting above the booths plus happily hung banners hanging across the room, Hubs had Combo #3 and I had the Tres Compadres fajitas with steak, shrimp and chicken perfectly seasoned and marinated. I tried one flour tortilla with the chicken but decided to enjoy the flavors more directly. We had seconds of the fresh chips and salsa. The horchata was cold, refreshing with hints of cinnamon teasing my tastebuds. The best for last? Their fried ice cream is decadent like no other. I'd add this to my last meal on earth on Yelp. I told hubs I'd come back here two nights in a row since today is Thanksgiving. Before we left hubs asked and sadly for us they will be closed today. I'm glad we decided to venture out of our hotel. This place was great you know why? Hubs who always declines my suggestions for Mexican food finished his plate clean and said he liked it.

Stopped in for a few drinks & apps. Sat at the bar. Wasn't crowded at all. Bartender started out fine but was MIA often. Chicken quesadilla was very good as was the Sangria. My hubby got a margarita & he wasn't a fan.

We walked into a small, unassuming space where the focus is squarely on freshly prepared food made with bold, authentic flavors. The dining room is modest and functional, with a counter and a handful of tables that give it the feel of a neighborhood taquería rather than a sit-down restaurant. The energy is practical and welcoming, with the open kitchen allowing us to see the tortillas being pressed and the meats being grilled fresh behind the counter. The birria tacos are the signature order and the dish that defines the menu. We ordered a few and found the tortillas crisped up on the griddle, the beef tender and well seasoned, and the rich consommé served on the side for dipping. The combination of the savory meat, the crispy tortilla, and the deep, slightly smoky broth made each bite feel layered and complete. Other standouts include the adobada tacos, which had a good char and a subtle spice that built gradually, and the lengua torta, with tender tongue layered between a soft roll and topped with fresh ingredients. The pozole was hearty and comforting, with a broth that carried the flavor of the hominy and meat without being overly heavy. The tamales, chicken flautas, and well-seasoned rice and beans rounded out the menu, each arriving hot and freshly made. The pickled onions and house salsas added extra flavor, and the horchata was a popular choice to pair with the meal, its cinnamon sweetness cutting through the richness of the dishes. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant maintained a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Despite its modest size, the kitchen moved efficiently, making it a reliable option for both dine-in and takeout. The staff checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, ensuring that even when the small dining room filled up, the experience stayed smooth. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food in the Boston area, Taquería Jalisco stands out for its consistently flavorful cooking, generous portions, and menu built around classic recipes rather than modern interpretations. It is the kind of place where the food speaks for itself, and the simplicity of the setting only adds to the sense that you are eating something made with care and tradition.

I really need to remember to look online before choosing my order in the future (or so I thought). While the tacos still look incredible (especially the birria ones), the torta was surprisingly great as well. The sandwich is jam packed with ingredients and really well balanced. The beef was juicy and tender, and the veggies added a really nice balance of spice (jalapenos), freshness (onions, lettuce, and tomatoes), and richness (cheese and avocadoes). The refried beans were a pleasant surprise as well, adding really good moisture and flavor to the overall bite. And including avocado on the torta for no extra cost really is what put this above and beyond to a 5/5 - the avocado was ripe and had just the right amount of it to add that rich and fatty element without being too slippery and making it hard to eat. The fries, on the other hand, were a bit soggy and thick for my liking. I had seen another photo on Yelp where they looked a lot crispier and were shaped differently, so not sure if I just got unlucky, but the sandwich more than made up for the fries in this case. I really can't say enough positive things about the torta. And even though the torta was fantastic and I gave it a 5/5, I definitely want to come back for those tacos. Three tacos plus rice for $18 is a pretty great deal, and the tacos really look incredible. I came here around 9pm on a Tuesday evening looking for some food after a long flight. I didn't have any expectations at all. I simply went here because it was close to the hotel and it was open. Upon entering I could barely hear my own thoughts. It was so loud in here that unless you're staying for some strange hear loss experiment or you're really hungry you are probably better off just leaving. I decided my hearing wasn't valued this particular day and after some strange sign language exercise the server showed me a seat in the bar. I used another type of sign language and ordered the shrimp cocktail and the tex mex churrasco. The food was simply heavenly and the shrimp cocktail ranks as one of the best I've ever had. This alone is worth coming back for. Unfortunately, here is where the good part completely ends and everything goes south. The server/bartender spent more time flirting and holding hands with a guest in the corner than tending to guests. Shouting would be pointless because mid way through the meal the volume in here has tenderized your ears more than a pounded veal. In any case, once a Morse signal has been sent out in triplicate and signed the bill finally arrives. The bill is almost twice as high as advertised for both items. Why? I don't know because causing a conflict in here would be more than useless and would probably require a solution "outside" - either to aid in hearing or otherwise. Beware of this practice! I really wish I could recommend this place but even though the food is more than wonderful they have decided two feet are superfluous and therefore shot themselves in both regarding all other areas of operations. Sorry, Acapulco - I wanted to like you but I think I'll eat elsewhere next time.
