TERRIBLE customer service. Waited 20 minutes just to get a menu, they only have 2 waiters working and it's too much for them alone. They attend first come first serve, so I waited more than an hour for a order of cheese Pupusas, btw this is "the Pupusa house" right? I was very hungry so I patiently waited and ordered guacamole for my chips, which is way OVER PRICED. I ended up leaving after waiting for 80 minutes. I was charged 13$ for guacamole, and 2 drinks and bad service. THE OWNER/ or manager also, a very rude lady. Instead of saying I'm sorry for a bad experience, she responded with "this isn't McDonald's, you have to wait". Long story short, NEVER coming back. read more

The food is good the service not so much. I've been here two times and both times the service was thumbs down. You seat yourself and the workers bring you the menu. They bring you chips and salsa as an appetizer and take your drink order. After they come back with drinks they take your food order. When they come with the food, which is not a long wait, that's the last time you really see them. Both times I went, they didn't come and check on us to see how we liked our food or if we needed anything else. First time I went, we had to wave the worker down to bring us extra items we needed. It was semi busy the first time I went so I didn't really look into it much, but the second time I went, we were the only ones there and still the workers didn't attempt to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. Next time I'll probably just order to go since I just go for the pupusas any ways. read more

I came here really hungry, I was craving Central American food was told this place was good. Ordered to Go and this place tbh sucked. I ordered chorizo con huevos which comes with beans and plantains. Beans they gave a small quantity (4ounce cup) and idk that day they was super watery and tasted super bitter like expired, didn't touch them. And to top it out the plantain they gave me two small pieces. I paid 12 bucks for this crap, two pieces of plantain! Seriously?! For being in a rush I lost and I ended up staying hungry at this place. Yo at least give me the full plantain! This place is overpriced for a small amount of food. As I sat at Los Cabos, eating all sorts of delicious foods, and being waited on by a wonderful waitress, (I don't speak Spanis), I read some of the reviews on my phone. I don't know about any of their other waitresses, but I can't imagine how rude I would have to be to take the beautiful smile off this young lady's face. She treated us VERY well, and was a perfect waitress. I had the chicken with Salvadorean cream sauce, and loved it. I had to try a pupusa, so I got the Pupusa Con Todo, which I very much enjoyed. My lady had the seafood soup, which came in a HUGE bowl, and was also very tasty. We'll be in Bakersfield for the next four months, so we should be able to make it back a few times before heading north in late April. read more

Papusas!!!! Ok ok. This is a hole in the wall type of restaurant. Do not expect to be greeted upon arrival very fast. Just go in and grab an open table. Most likely you will be greeted shortly by a Spanish speaking lady. If you don't know Spanish; don't worry, they won't discriminate. This is not a Mexican restaurant so don't expect chips and salsa. I'll start off by saying that the place was bigger inside then I thought. Walls are painted with bright green and orange colors. The walls are covered with pictures of various soccer teams. One side of the restaurant appears to serve as a dance floor and it also has a big jukebox which was playing many Spanish songs the entire duration of our visit. To me, the music gives it that much more of an authentic feel. I was introduced to Papusas when I married my wife. Her mom is from El Salvador and introduced me to the culture and foods. It is a bit different than Mexican foods. I was instantly hooked. Papusas are a staple comfort food in the homes of salvadorans. Finding a place that does not make them too greasy or too much masa is rare. We ordered Papusas revueltas which have always been my favorite. I also ordered the tamale de pollo. The Papusas are served with Curtido on the side. Curtido is s cabbage slaw with small amount of peppers and vinegar. The Curtido pairs with the papusa well by bringing it another texture of a small crunch and freshness. Go beyond the Curtido and add salsa and/or tapatio. To sum things up, the Papusas were light and had a perfect balance of meat, cheese and masa ( dough). The tamale was ok. The salvadorans tamale is prepared slightly different than a Mexican tamale. They are prepared in banana leafs as opposed to corn husks. It did taste authentic and hit the spot to fulfill the taste of my mother-in-laws cooking. Also, the horchata was perfect. I'm happy to have found this place. We'll be back when my cravin for good authentic salvadoran food becomes too overwhelming to resist again! read more

I go out of my way to eat here. It's on the far other side of town for me, but the food is scrumptious and worth the trip. Our waitresses have always been cheerful and efficient, irrespective of whether I'm speaking English or butchering Spanish. (Mi Español is MUY poquito) Our drinks never ran dry...and we can go through the iced tea. The owner is a delight to chat with and takes a genuine interest in his customers. We initially came in to try pupusa since I had never had them and was curious. We return because the Salvadoran food is a gustatory orgasm. I've had the pupusa con queso y loroco, the pupusa with zucchini and queso and my sweetie had pupusa con todo and pupusa con chiccarones. All were delicious. Loroco is a flower that adds a subtle but delicious flavor as well as being very good for you. It's hard to describe but quite tasty. The seafood soup is probably the best Ive ever had and the portion enormous. I got two meals out of it. Ive also had the mar y tierra, which is a shrimp and steak dish in an exceptional cream sauce. Everything has been truly delicious. They have some standard Mexican food offerings, but the Salvadoran cuisine shines! read more

The pupusas are delicious here! I've tried the ones "con todo" and the "chicharron con queso". They are the best in kern county I would say. I've also tried their meat empanadas. They are equally delicious! Their fried plantains with some cinnamon cream filling are a must try! I would not recommend their shrimp cocktail as it tasted old and was not cold enough! I also don't like that they do not have a soda machine, so you have to buy overpriced canned sodas. The service is just ok. It could be better, but the delicious pupusas makes up for it! read more

It's alright if you only order Fajitas. My pupusa had no Loroco, even though I requested it twice. I also had to request salsa twice to go with the chips. Order arrived about 5 minutes later. Simple presentation...first bite was of the bean and cheese...very flavorful, I didn't care too much for the chicharron, but that could just be that I'm partial to beans. The salsa that is served was a bit disappointing, thin and lacked flavor. Now the cabbage mixture was much better..lots of flavor, crisp and fresh! I'll be back! read more

Wow! How sad that service is so bad and I highly recommend some social skills to owner that obviously doesn't care that most reviews include employees bad service, not attentive to customers. As a former fast food owner for 8 years, I always made a point to my employees to give customers great service with a smile and they will come back and look forward to your service and smile. It seems that this place is being worked with family and nobody can fix the easiest thing customer service . To me this is so important besides good food and cleanliness of a business.
